The Rosatellum tries to divide votes being assigned to the party rep for that electoral college from those assigned to the party/coalition itself. Alex Jonestein (uninominal candidate for party X)
Party X (names of plurinominal candidates) | Party Y (names of plurinominal candidates)
Party Z (names of plurinominal candidates) | Natsees (names of plurinominal candidates)

If you crossed Alex Jonestein's name, his vote would have gone to himself (for the uninominal count) AND a 1/4 of it (not really since his party takes precedence over the others but bear with me) to the other ones in his coalition. The uninominal vote is used to try and get the uninominal party rep to be elected as a MP or MS, while the plurinominal vote is used to try and elect the FIRST unelected party member inserted in that (names of plurinominal candidates) list. Add to that a lot of uninominal candidates chose to also be represented in the plurinominal list in regions they were unlikely to win and that the uninominal election takes precedence over the plurinominal one.
Otherwise, you could have crossed out the Party symbol, in which case the vote would have gone to both Alex Jonestein (as he's the local coalition rep, too) and STRICTLY to the party of your choosing for the plurinominal vote (meaning that the other three parties got 0 out of that vote and the one you chose got one full vote or something along these lines). Or you could have crossed both if you were feeling like it and it would have had the same effect.
Or you could be a nigger and cross both Alex Jonestein's name and Party Leftcuck, which would have invalidated your vote. Oh, and since citizens of 25+ can vote for the Senate as well, they can also choose to vote in two different ways, since the votes are disjointed, so you could choose a Parliamentary M5S member and a Senate Lega member.

It's a huge clusterfuck, and add to that the fact that the ballots are printed on paper, they have to be brought to a jury, they added an extra layer of protection with an adhesive sticker that had to be removed by the ballot box attendants and the fact they have to calculate uninominal and plurinominal votes disjointed (and if that wasn't enough, Lombardy and Latium also voted for their regional candidates), so the final results will only be available about tomorrow morning. Needless to say though that the center right coalition did exceptionally well.

France and Italy are actually the countries that have the most to lose in the EU, because all the money in commercial exchanges gravitates towards the biggest country (Germany) and all the gibs to the small/poor ones.

A Greek currency would weaken relative to the Euro as no one wants to buy it because the Greek economy is shit. A German currency would strengthen relative to the Euro because many people want to buy into the German economy as it is strong.

With a weaker currency, Greek goods would become relatively cheaper than German goods allowing Greece to compete with Germany.

At the moment, with both countries tied to the Euro, Germany is benefiting from trading in a currency weakened by their Southern neighbours, while Greece is suffering under a currency strengthened by the German economy.

Coming from an Australian, I'm really not sure why anyone thought the Euro was a good idea in the first place.

Using a single currency works for similar economies. France and Germany could share a currency, Italy and Greece another. Other than making it easier to travel I don't really see the point, I think it's just because they want to make all countries the same.

What they should do is add a currency for international trade on top of national currencies instead of simply replacing them

Eh, considering M5S won the majority there because of "Muh basic income" I doubt they will care about lower taxes, which for the most they don't pay at all. They get already most of the welfare and apparently can't get enough of it, especially since it would mean not having to work at all to get it.

Of course such a promise it's impossible, but they are not particularly smart and angry at the North because they felt like it stole their riches out of them after the unification… Which it's not completely false, but then again they got back even more via government programs and don't seem in a rush to get to work and start to actually be productive.

And obviously there's the mafia to take in account, which did probably back M5S this time around, but there's no conclusive proof of that.
