People being offended doesn't excuse the ludonarrative dissonance of controlling a character planning something you don't know about and acting/speaking in a way incongruent with how the player would. Saints Row should just encourage you to be a crazy psycho through gameplay (which it mostly does) rather than through cutscenes and a voiced protagonist.
Also voiced protagonists and character customization are retarded. Either have a defined voiced protag or a completely undefined protag with no voice.

SR2 is still the best in the series though since all of the other games also have these problems.

GOG version was completely fine barring the button prompts being M+KB instead of controller prompts. Gentleman of the Row fixes that and many other things.

One of Saints Row 2's biggest things going for it is the complete sociopathy of your character and others. The game doesn't try to sugarcoat it, you, your allies and your enemies are all scumbags. Not many games let you truly play a villain, but SR2 does.

The interesting thing about the whole ''boss behaving like an actual crime boss" thing is that, Saints Row The Third had 2 endings, one of which was actually pretty grim while the other ending is a lame ending where the boss ends up as some sort of hero and then the final mission is an incredibly gay mission where they are shooting for a movie.I fucking hate the laser weapons in that game
As it turns out, the ''boss becomes a hero despite his previous actions" ending ended up being the canon ending, which was extremely disappointing since i like how the other ending played out better.
I love the scene in the non-canon ending when you went out and killed Killbane instead of saving your friends and then the statue explodes, killing both of your friends, just for Pierce to call you and ask ''Was it worth it?"

Altho, i do get why Cyrus didn't attack anyway, its because he always waited for authorization before attacking, otherwise he would have used the fortress much earlier in the story. Besides, i doubt that the entire team would agree to use the ship without getting approval just because he couldn't get some chick to agree to send his big fortress that blows up after a few c4 explodes on it.

I'm fairly sure the katana fight is not meant to take your inputs for one enemy, teleport you through 2 other enemies to the other side of the room, and then have you fail. That would be entirely retarded
