Visual Novels are allowed because some are definitely games, some are adventure games, and some just clearly aren't. However with so many of them being games and having a history with vidya, like the PC-88, then there's no reason not to allow them. Having to explain to every shitposter which of them are/aren't games would just ruin discussion.

Good posts and holding that standard is what brings a good community. Banning games on a game board isn't the answer. It's banning shitty people. But that takes a good mod team that's hard to come by. For example, Reddit Truegaming had some good discussions. However no one there would talk about or knew shit about games outside America. Not only that but the common knowledge of games were vastly inferior to the people here. Discussions would instantly come to a halt because the post that "sounds" the best with get upvoted to the top of the page. Though that is a Reddit problem in general. Either way that board had some good discussions because it always held a series attitude and banned shitheads.

Thankfully it is still possible to have some quality discussion here. Even a shitpost thread can spark a good discussion.
