I think it depends on the Sombra changes making live or not. If an enemy sombra can hack your rienhardt through his shield and shut it down, locking it down for a while as well as his abilities all he has is his melee.
Symmetra meanwhile cannot have her shield hacked after she lets it loose, she could die and its still pushing forwards, you can have a roadhog or reaper coming up behind the shield and then run off to drop a teleporter closer in or something.
Rein's the only character who gets hacked and loses all ranged attack modes. If that goes live i can honestly see teams wanting symmetra and another tank like cornchip goblin.

I kind of think they should make it so that Sombra can hack though shield, back doing so doesn't render the Shield useless but instead puts them in a compromised state where splash damage can get through them.

I think they were scared of making her OP since everyone was expecting a TF2 spy clone with a backstab style deal. So they made her strangely underpowered in ways that made people think "oh shes just a harass that creeps around and picks off nearly dead enemies" and thats fine in theory but just isn't how she is played.

In my opinion the shield thing isn't the right way to do it since thats a straight unbalancing of the enemy team to make yours better for a period of time.

I would make it so she can hack symmetra and torbjorns turrets as her focus since that means the enemy player is at fault if they die to it but can also completely avoid it if they know how. It just feels like a balance nightmare to get right of shields.

You make a good point about server browsers, there's a severe lack of a community feeling within those servers in games without them. Although personally I don't really like to get attached to communities as they only turn to shit over time. See webm:

It's just a matter of who has the better focus fire, or whoever the sever decides who shot first at that point. It's not day 1 though is it user? It's been nearly a decade since day 1 and the quality of community servers are long gone.

By all means champion the value of having console commands, private servers etc, that sort of thing is literally the only valid criticism I actually fucking hear from people who complain about OW which makes it a wonder why I hear it so rarely.

But the bottom line is having the means to avoid the dev's shitty decisions is not a fucking justification for them making the fucking decisions in the first place. And it will only bite you in the ass whenever a time comes when you're forced to depend on Valve's official servers which is what sure as hell what happened when Valve streamlined the games browser killing the activity for community servers.

Pretty much just one the first control points and it's done that way so the defending team don't just camp that control point. Most of them are bypassable as well so they aren't even true choke points.

And that's another plus Overwatch has over TF2 since TF2's are actually worse. To be honest I've never really been convinced why lenient hitboxes are awful though, as long as the game doesn't pretend to be realistic, which neither of them do. It becomes more of a balance question than anything else.

Get out of the way, there's a global sound that plays when he fires it, and unless he's dead on you can get out of the way. Generally you want to start moving the second you hear it and spread out from your team.
Zenyatta/Lucio ults can counter Genji's (In higher level games if there's a Genji those two will save their ults just for that reason). Genji doesn't get any survivability during sword, so you can still kill him, Torb's turret works well since it tracks, if McRee gets a flashbang off (and with proper aim you can prevent it from being deflected) a non retarded team will destroy Genji.
Lasts a very short time, if you're going for a flank, then wait it out, really all it does is make flankers wait a little while, if you're approaching as a team in an obvious location then the ult accomplishes jack shit.
Like Genji, they are not invincible when using it. They can also be flashbanged/hooked/sleep darted out of it, Rhein can block it, D.VA can hold down right click, Mei can put up a wall. That's not even getting into saving ults to counter like I suggested for Genji.

So I was running the Nexus event on HotS for the Genji skin and realized I'm actually enjoying it way more than Overwatch.
Matches lasting on average 10-20 minutes alone makes it the least shit MOBA I've played so far.

HotS could have been interesting if the talents were a bit more diverse and/or able to change talents late game. But instead they put in talent gating, which is the stupidest fucking idea ever, and made every character super bland.

From my observations, nearly 20% of all Genji players are actually good at him. And when I mean good, I mean terrific. I remember playing junkrat and this genji managed to kill me in the air while I was jumping around and showering his team with bombs. 3 times in a row.
Had to watch the kill cam to make sure it wasn't an aimbot and god almighty, he was actually that good.
The other 80% though… heavens above, they suck some might ass. From entering throught the main chokepoint, to overly extending their presence (he's made of fucking paper. If his reflect goes into cooldown, you're fucked 7 days till sunday).
And since they're this prevalent, you can guaratee that they'll be on your team most of the time. Makes for some very tense 5vs6 games where if you actually win, it feels really good.

And then that was the PoTG. He's not really "skillfull and hard to master" as people told me. It's all about not being seen, striking first and leaving before the entire enemy team focuses the rape cannons on your ass since you tend to be alone most of the time.
I mean, you can also enter a fight from above/behind when your team engages first, but if you're doing that, Tracer is far better for it, since the Rewind turns your engage into two separate engages
Genji's Dash can be used like the rewind, yeah, but then you lose one extra tool in your arsenal to finish off some player. And if you DO use it for that, you lose your escape tool.

As an hilarious note:

A reaper with that card really wasn't playing well.

One thing to note is that when you get a kill with Genji the CD on dash resets.

On normal play, I'll sometimes see someone at low HP, dash and he survives with 3 or 5 HP.
It's essentially a gamble, which is fine I think since Genji should be about big-risk-big-reward.
You can also turn back and try to finish the kill to get the dash back, but you risk heabutting a rocket or a reinhardt firewave in doing so, so again, risk vs reward.

In the end, I decided I knew enough about how he played but don't really enjoy "gambling" my contribution to the match. Just doesn't suit my playstyle. I feel much better doing almost the same thing with junkrat. I play him rather agressively, and frequently try to kill myself near enemies when I'm low health. Particulary on the payload, you know that if you die there, your bombs have a good chance of taking someone out with you.

Some players queued together for placement, played the same matches and in the end had different ranks.

The game tallies personnal contribution as well on top of win\lose so you get different results depending on how well you do.
It's actually pretty great, if you lose a match because you were teamed up with retards, they'll be losing a lot more rank than you, provided you did your role quite well, and whenever you win, your rating goes through the roof if you steamrolled the other team.

Nobody knows, sometimes you can rank higher or lower than your entire team with the same win and lose ratio.

It does. Last I read about it, it tallies win\lose, personal contribution and difference in average skill rating between both teams.

For instance, the difference this user might notice is because on those ranks, players are much closer in terms of skill. On low brackets, the difference in skill between teams ensures a steamroll out of which one team loses near to nothing and the other wins something similar.
But on higher brackets, when they are much closer, both teams stand to win and lose at the same time a much higher rank.
It's also probably part of the algorythm that makes it easier to revert your score to a medium like 2000 or 2500 going both up or down in that direction overtime unless you're more\less skilled than what your rank says.

The problem with Sombra isn't Sombra herself, it's that nobody really seems to know how to play WITH her as other characters. Sombra really requires every player to have some form of communication and some synergy in character choices. Like Mei+Sombra is potentially good because you can have Mei freeze enemies and then Sombra hacks them. Rein+Sombra since Sombra can hide behind the shield. She has utility if you pair up well and actually communicate.

i feel that winston's gameplay style is actually pretty specific. overwatch to some degree is definitely a game of positioning, and being too far behind or overextended is certainly a thing. For winston, positioning is everything, much more so than other characters. I really don't like playing with him because his style doesn't fit with how i like to play, but it seems you really need to be on the ball with situational awareness. One wrong jump forward and you're fucked, or one ill timed shield drop and you need to hold back. You need to keep on eye on which people are where and whether the current situation presents an opening for you, otherwise it's far too easy to end up in the middle of the enemy team and outnumbered.

This is beyond the fuck dumbest set of custom magic cards I've ever seen.

I actually stated to despise all online games.

Roadhog isn't a tank like Rein or D. Va, he's a tank in so far that being anywhere within eyesight of him is an instant bad time for any enemy. Like you go for his team and you will be dead within 10 seconds of him seeing you. He's a bouncer. You want to attack his team, you have to get through him first. Like his lore, he's a bodyguard.

Hanzo hitboxes have been changed back and forward, larger and smaller to balance him out. In the end, the conclusion and final stage was that they shouldn't be 100% realistic and match the arrows as he'd feel much weaker compared to other heroes but they're not log-sized either as they used to be.
You can try Hanzo yourself and I don't mean trying him with the robots in the training yard, actually go play a match with him, see how underwhelming he actually is.

Same thing for Roadhog's Hook, that one even had special attention given to it. At some point it took a soft nerf in that everyone landed a bit too far from him because of large tanks like Dva or Winston but then it was changed so characters are placed in front of him at a certain distance per hero do to each individual size. (Now go watch those webms and notice how that doesn't happen in them because they are outdated)
Reaper could teleport to several unintended spots on the map but you open the changelog and it often says "Fixed X map that allowed Reaper to teleport to unintended location".

The game had bugs and likely still has. Nothing new for videogames, all games have bugs after all. But they are fixed in the end or at least handled nicely enough which is what really matters.
