PBS isn't entirely aimed towards children, it just has more children's programming than most stations. There's a lot of liberal content for adults in the vein of NPR as well. Also worth noting for those unfamiliar that PBS doesn't do traditional advertising, and devotes a lot of time to fundraiser drives, although they also seem to receive a lot of funding from (((foundations))) and stuff, so I imagine that's where the lion's share of their funds really comes from
