First, quit being such a massive faggot, and then find your firmware version below. Then see smealum.github.io/3ds/, unzip the starter kit to your SD card, and follow instructions to setup the Homebrew Launcher.
Follow the guide as normal. On New 3DS, you can now install arm9loaderhax without downgrading past 9.2 through the homebrew launcher.
Use browserhax, optionally install menuhax as a more permanent solution. Downgrade as normal then proceed normally.
If you have the update nag that prevents you from using the web browser, change your system's date to January 1st, 2000 at 00:00, initialize savedata, and immediately use browserhax. Don't exit the browser using the home button, or you'll have to reinitalize save data.
If you have the nag, you can beat it by opening the web browser as fast as you can from boot before the update nag kicks you out. Bookmark the applicable browserhax link, use as quickly as possible. You'll have about 30 seconds. Install menuhax immediately afterwards.
Browserhax and menuhax are usable. The phailect guide might say 10.7 can't use broswerhax but it can.
You can not run any CFW, yet
Downgrading is now possible with hardmod, or with software ONLY IF YOU ALREADY HAVE A 3DS WITH CFW. plailect.github.io/Guide/dsiware-downgrade ← This may soon be updated to allow downgrades without a second 3ds
Frequently Asked Questions Luma3DS is the most popular CFW and supports A9LH, as well as having a number of features such as Region Free, Language Emulation, Automatic AGB_FIRM patching, Automatic flash cart unblocking, Auto-Update blocking, RO Patching (Special features for romhacks) and more. Reinand appears to still be worked on, but the creator has indicated that they want to work privately from now on. Reinand also supports Region Free, Auto-Update blocking, RO Patching, and more. rxTools is now out of date and lacks support for newer features as well as no longer under active development. If you have been using it previously, it is advised to switch. All CFWs support both O3DS and N3DS. For additional features such as cheats, save states, screenshots, and screen capture(NEW 3DS ONLY), use your CFW of choice to launch NTR CFW. For more detailed info about each CFWs feature set, go here: gbatemp.net/threads/wip-faq-what-cfw-is-best-for-me.428509/ Do further, thorough research on your own. Ask smart questions here.
Yes, you should always stay up to date.
Using the links below, get the latest version of luma. copy the arm9loaderhax.bin to the root of your SD card, go into the hax folder and copy the 3ds folder to your SD. If you're using a bootmanager simply make an entry in the boot.cfg. This will allow you to load luma through the homebrew launcher.
On first boot, hold select to open the menu, and check "show current nand in system settings" as well as "enable region emulation", and if you like the gba boot screen you can enable that as well. Copying arm9loaderhax.bin does not install arm9loaderhax, this is simply where the cfw is stored.
CIA stands for CTR Importable Archive, where CTR stands for the codename of the 3ds. In simpler terms, a .cia is simply an installable package you can launch from your homescreen.
sysNAND is the core system files that your 3DS uses, including the Home Menu and system titles such as the browser and system settings. emu/redNAND are a cloned version of this that runs off of your SD card instead of the built-in chip on your 3DS.
Arm9LoaderHax or A9LH is an entrypoint for booting into emu or sysNAND. The advantages of A9LH include 100% boot rate, and execution before boot. If you install A9LH, you can get rid of emuNAND and load an updated sysNAND to install .cia. The installation requires a one-time downgrade to 2.1.0 in order to dump OTP (One-Time Programmable console-specific information). A9LH does still support booting of emuNAND if need be, but the most popular option is to update sysNAND and use it. A9LH protects from softbricking once installed, as it can load before the 3ds boots and flash a backup nand image. If you're familiar with the Wii, it's similar to BootMii or Priiloader. Menuhax vs. A9LH: archive.is/SsDyf
Yes, you can transfer your files to a larger SD if you desire. On A9LH you need only copy your files to the larger SD. If you're on emuNAND there's a more detailed process: First, backup all your old SD Card's files, and make an emunand dump with Emunand9. Hit eject, insert your new SD card, go to SD Format Options, and do format (minsize) if using rednand. If unsure, just do format (emunand default). This creates a partition on your New SD and formats it correctly. Restore your emunand onto your new SD card and then copy all of your files off, you've successfully upgraded your SD.
Not without a flashcart. SD Loading is on the way, but there's no real expected timeline.
The cheapest and best option is the r4i 3ds: modchipsdirect.com/r4i-3ds-r4ds-wood.html Avoid r4i-SDHCs. Their firmware is on a timer and the card will brick itself in a year so you have to buy a new one. The Menu is slow, and if you get a replacement for it it causes compatibility issues.
Check 3ds shack and the gbatemp to see if someone has had your issue and as fixed it. If you're going to post your issue here INCLUDE AS MUCH DETAIL AS POSSIBLE. You're only opening yourself to shitposting if you don't.
Juan Hernandez
ROMS WHERE Disregard .3ds rom dumps - this is a format for flash carts and citra only. Downloading roms directly from nintendo is possible, and recommended as a first approach before visiting external sources, excluding the obvious such as romhacks. If you would like to download roms direct from nintendo's servers on your 3ds you can use freeshop: github.com/Cruel/freeShop/releases After installing, open freeshop, go to Settings>Update and enter 3ds.titlekeys.com/downloadenc or visit 3ds.titlekeys.com on your computer and click the QR button, then Scan. on your PC you can also generate FBI-Scannable QR codes by visiting 3ds.titlekeys.com/ and clicking on a title, then clicking the generate QR button. 3dsiso.com/ and 3dschaos.com/ are the most commonly used sites for finding roms. You can search for titles on 3ds.titlekeys.com and you can view the completion here: 3ds.jdbye.com/ (Non-VC only right now) If you own a game on eShop that's marked in red for your region, consider submitting it.
Previously dumping carts was a pain in the ass, but decrypt9 can now dump carts directly to cia easily, go to Gamecart Dumper > Dump to CIA.
Yes, with Decrypt9 simply go to Content Decryptor > NCCH/NCSD > NCCH/NCSD to CIA.
>How does 3ds.titlekeys.com/ get keys? The encTitleKeys site most commonly used is dependent on user submissions. If you own an eshop title that isn't available on 3ds.titlekeys.com/ you can add it yourself for all to download. Using Decrypt9, go to titlekey options, then titlekey decrypt for your respective nand. This will dump a decTitleKeys.bin, which is different than an encTitleKeys.bin. you can submit it to the website, where it will be added. You can create an encTitleKeys dump using Titlekey Dump. The site doesn't take these, but the file will be usable for anyone with freeshop or ciangel.
Yes it is. No. 3DSISO.com will probably know before us, we're a bit of a slow board compared to /vp/ and 3DSISO. Go to the guide, there's a fucking link for each and every firmware you can possibly be on. Don't ask here unless you are getting errors, as you'll just be abused and told to go to the guide.
Oliver Bennett
Oh, apparently the fag from /vp/ is actually uploading it now. He said it was a cart, but it was actually a .3ds ROM he rebuilt himself. I'll post back if he actually gives the MEGA link. It's pokemon moon, no sun has been shown.
Watch out, someone on 3DSiso reported it bricked their console, while others are posting that it works. Fucking ruse crusery.
Leo Russell
Get in there to discuss pokemon, else the Homebrew thread will just become the Pokemon one.
Kevin King
I'm on A9LH, so I should be fine.
Jacob Cooper
Someone keep us posted, because by the time I can actually even get this installed later today, someone will have found out the hard way.
Charles Johnson
Its legit, too many confirmations at this point both in the other thread and 3dsiso
Leo Russell
Yeah, last time Pokémon was the thread theme it died in 9 hours.
Xavier Lopez
The moon.cia is legit. Playing it right now.
Jayden Gutierrez
i want to play the legit version of moon later, can I undo the CFW installations easily?
Jordan Sullivan
Keep CFW, it can't be detected or banned for.
EmuNAND can be undone easily, A9LH is a bit harder to remove, but still can be done.
Dominic Barnes
You can also copy the save file you create with this version and use it with a retail cart. JSKV save manager.
Dominic Bennett
...
Blake Hughes
Check the Pokemon thread, someone posted a MEGA link.
Lucas Hall
I'm downloading it but someone said it was just a metric fuckton of sunflora pictures. I wish I could load 3dsiso at all.
Connor Rodriguez
3DSISO says both are clean, apparently.
Jeremiah Edwards
I'm seeing the opposite, both threads for Sun say it's fake.
Jaxson Allen
Well, I'll tell you in a bit once I finish. Sunflora pics are never bad, I suppose.
Brayden Diaz
Moon is real, sun is Sunfloras.
Ryan Rodriguez
Ah fuck.
Gonna go get a report done and hopefully get mark to ban the faggot.
Caleb Edwards
Still no progress. Extracted the safe file from the cartridge, installed Animal Crossing without patch from freeshop, imported safe and it works but when i install the 1.4 patch it will not run. Same shit as with the cartridge.
I guess i wait for another patch from nintendo for the system. Hopefully that will help.
When i opened the game in Homebrew it got loaded without 1.4 and without any settings. So this wouldn't work. I'm an idiot
Ian Young
this is some fucking bullshit
Austin Roberts
I was that user. I have absolutely no clue what you can do to fix this, then.
My absolutely final idea would be that the update you installed ORIGINALLY was corrupted. Go to 3ds.titlekeys.com, search for the 1.4 update in the little box. Go to FBI, go to titles, find the TitleKey that matches with what the site says, then delete that THEN try download through FreeShop again.
If that doesn't work, I'd be super dooper confused. As in, I can't think for the life of me why it wouldn't work levels, not just can't think of a way to fix it.
Dominic Diaz
Unless you like Lazy Town.
Samuel Bailey
Now look at this net, that I've just found!
Kevin Parker
I will try that and report back tomorrow.
Cooper Thompson
THROW IT AT HIM NOT ME
Jackson Robinson
I've got a New 3DS coming in the mail but I gotta give up my 2DS's comfiness in the process. Think a N3DS's guts would fit in a modified 2DS shell?
Sebastian Perry
I want you to do this with all my heart.
Too bad the answer is probably no. The 2DS has a single screen split in two parts, while the 3DS has two screens. A modified 2DS shell wouldn't be the case, you'd need to custom build one and get it done at a professional joint, because fuck home 3d printing, those break easily.
Owen Perry
Shit, I forgot all about that megascreen. Guess I can see if there's somewhere nearby that'd be willing to print out a custom shell for some autist then.
Wyatt Nelson
anyone here familiar with wii-u hacking?
I can't find a guide that actually goes in depth, so it really looks like you just drag the wiiu folder over, do whatever with loadiine to get that started, then run browserhax to get to homebrew.
I don't know much about Wii U hacking, but go bother them, they lap up attention you throw them. Say thanks and they'll come to your house and do it for you.
Ryan King
oh gross.
Guess I have no other choice.
Henry Martinez
I know this has been asked multiple times before but what actually makes updating the system safe when you have Luma3DS and arm9? Most answers just give a simple Yes that it's safe to update but not really stating why? Most other homebrews seem to advise not to update the system since it fucks them up so what makes this any different?
Luke Perry
To simplify it I believe al9h is operating at a level underneath the firmware, and Luma prevents anything from rewriting that area. It also boots before your firmware comes online so there's nothing they could do to the firmware that would block AL9H
Cooper Morgan
That's pretty fucking nice. So generally should I immediately update my system for future updates or should I wait and see if it messes with Luma or AL9H? Also, why do some people still use other CFW instead of using this combo?
Robert Anderson
Sorry to be asking a redundant question, but is updating your system to 11.2 safe when your already on cfw or is there still a risk it might brick your system/stop homebrew from working?
Cameron Butler
yeah you are fine to update as long as you have AL9H, if you are using an emunand only update that (but you shouldn't be at this point).
I imagine if they wanted to Nintendo could release an update that basically soft bricked your 3ds, but you'd always be able to undo it at least. I don't think they will do it but I'm not confident enough to say 'update straight away' since it would at least be an inconvenience if they did. Pretty sure day 1 there would be a shitstorm in these threads if there was a problem so just give a cursory search if its exploding before you update if you're worried. I'm not, I personally update straight away.
Asher Lewis
I just updated with no issues; I just updated my Luma3DS first them went with a sys update.
Also to deal with the questions, can we have a line in the sticky addressing the "Should I update" and what makes it safe to update in future threads?
Logan Peterson
...
Jason Ward
How do I know what's going on? Did FBI freeze up or something?
Logan White
Did you run out of space on your SD card? Keep in mind the install takes another 3.3 gb of space on top of the 3.2 gb the .cia inhabits.
James Turner
I don't believe so, because when I went to download it the first time I kept getting this 'out of resources' error as soon as the install stopped. I went and deleted a bunch of shit that I wasn't playing and got the install to start. I assume if I really did run out of space, it would give me that same error again.
Luke Garcia
So I went back and checked, FBI really did freeze; I pressed several buttons to see what would happen, and nothing did happen, so I hard reset. Despite all of that, the install still finished successfully, so I'm going to assume the game is okay to play for the moment.
Hunter Gomez
If I buy an N3DS in the store right now, what firmware would it be at?
Owen Hernandez
Depends on how long its been collecting dust.
Anyone have Pokemon lineless patches for X/Y?
Tyler Lopez
I don't understand jack shit about any of this. Has Nintendo already fucked my 3DS forever or is it okay to not install it and wait for hax.
Robert Hall
Just keep not installing it, fam.
Mason Lopez
Having an update queued doesn't affect anything afaik. The fact that you are on 11.1.0 means your options are very limited. As of right now, hacking it is technically possible, but it requires system transfer shenanigans. Hacking is making progress for versions under 11.2.0, so sit tight for a month or two and you can hack it.
James White
making me want to play that again
Ayden Gray
Thanks, I will keep doing that, I just wondered if the had preemptively patched something.
Funny enough I do have access to an early firmware 3DS, one that has not been used in years, but it's my cousin's and I have no experience so I would rather not brick stuff that's not my property. I will just wait for more updates from the homebrew community then.
Henry Miller
I can understand not wanting to brick something that isn't yours, but these days it's almost impossible to brick unless you do it blind.
Especially if you're on an o3ds
Parker Hernandez
Well no it's about the same. IF the O3DS is on an old firmware it's easier to get to 9.2 without downgrade steps. However N3DS can skip the 2.1.0 downgrade now while O3DS/2DS cannot. Also for whatever reason Nintendo are taking their sweet time to patch out the bootloader bugs that allow A9LH to work.
Jaxon Powell
holy shit
oh, I forgot about the 2.1.0 downgrade. I've never had any problems with that, it's usually the first downgrade that fucked me; but that was also with the old scary version of sysupdater that could brick you if a pixel was out of place.
Good times.
Sebastian Wright
(holy cow checked) What is that image? A leak from a Nintendo dev meeting?
Chase Ortiz
Enjoy the autism.
Jaxson Howard
No it's a presentation about hacking the original XBOX. As bad as that was they did get their act together with the 360.
There's also one for 3DS that posted, worth a watch as it talks about memchunkhax and A9LH, among other stuff.
Austin Moore
How much more do I have to wait?
Anthony Jenkins
for what, getting into the homebrew menu? just restart
Bentley Sanchez
Yeah, the menu. Thanks
Sebastian Gomez
It does not stop at yellow, reboot and try again until you're in an actual UI.
Evan Campbell
Yeah, if you're using browserhax it might take a while. Just keep at it and you'll get in eventually
Anthony Ross
So it's just finiky, got it.
Angel Turner
How do I replace a CFW? I have a old 3ds I haven't played in forever and it's running cakes.
Samuel Ramirez
I just did this for a friend yesterday, actually. Google "cakes to luma" or something like that and you'll find a gba temp thread explaining how to do it. It's not as hard as it might seem
Ian Mitchell
I was thinking of getting a new 3DS, they're all on
Luis Ward
The Mario 3D Land one is 10.7, lime green and galaxy are 11.0, you'd have to look up the codes for black and red but they're being shipped with above 10.7 now too.
Noah Ramirez
sorry to bump a relatively dead thread, but is there any way to play gameboy games on this? the games as they're released on the eshop seem to run pretty bad, is homebrew any better?
Matthew Perez
Yeah, you can inject CIAs. People already did it with SNES and GBA games, so it should work just as well.
Real talk, playing LIVE A LIVE on my 3DS is awesome.
Ryan Gutierrez
Don't forget to set your street pass greeting to "TRUMP 2016"
Matthew Richardson
But I like my "GOT A STAR!" greeting, it goes well with my Super Star Hat and arms up expression
David Edwards
Anybody have a qr code for a trump mii?
Noah Turner
What's the latest official firmware? 11.2?
Jayden Stewart
Yes.
Charles Ross
Why?
Ryan Bennett
Many possible reasons.
David Robinson
What do they include?
Sebastian Richardson
Seed is missing.
Either redownload from FreeShop, or go to FBI > Titles > Sun Moon Demo > Install Seed, which should fix the problem. Also, Sun/Moon and the demo all need expanded memory mode if you're on a O3DS or 2DS, so wait 30 seconds max just to make sure it's not still rebooting.
Jacob Morris
There is already a primary exploit for 11.0-11.2, but they're not releasing it until December, in case Nintendo pushes out a new firmware with Pokemon, forcing 10 million updates and locking out this exploit.
Matthew Bennett
does oothax work with 11.2? yes, I know you need another 3ds to run the installer first
Jordan White
How would the seed be missing from the full version of Moon?
I tried importing the seed (downloaded from 3dschaos with the CIA) for the demo in FBI and it didn't work.
Ryan Turner
And I've had my 3DS sit on that screen for several minutes now.
Angel Bailey
I'm going to assume you've got the Preload CIA from 3DSISO or similar. If you do have the one from the pokemon thread that was dumped yesterday, the issue is one with Luma.
My mate had this error when loading MHG, another expanded memory game. It took me a long time to diagnose, but I settled on putting LumaHax one stable release lower and redoing the settings when you hold select on boot. Don't use a nightly, use a stable, and choose the settings you need.
It's something to do with the reboot scripts Luma uses, apparently they are more prone to failing in newer versions. Reinstallng the current version of Luma you have may also work
Luke Davis
I got mine from the thread here.
How do I reinstall Luma and what settings do I need to change?
Do you have a source on that shit? Is it really safe to update to 11.2?
Josiah Nelson
I just updated to 11.2 with my oothax unchanged from the 11.1.0-34 payload and it still works
if anyone comes with the same question in the near future.
Josiah James
can now confirm this works
Lincoln Jackson
moon is old news, let us know when sun gets leaked
Chase Sanchez
why not just use pkhex to get all the sun pokemon?
Lucas Martinez
I don't know how to use PKHex and everywhere I look the guides are all in spanish. Is there a tl;dr somewhere?
Nolan Gutierrez
Does previous version mean v6.3.1 or something lower?
Justin Smith
what kind of rapscallion do you take me for?
Thomas Johnson
basically get save manager or any homebrew that allows you to have a main.sav file
and there you go if you're scared, make more backups of your main.sav, but personally I never had a problem.
ain't cheating if you teach them the default moves/stats
Connor Hill
When the FUCK is Sun?
Jacob Smith
Are the pokemon in Sun much better?
Joseph Hughes
Are there any tools for Luma emunand or whatnot to do any kind of integrity checks? on the firmware?
Just out of curiosity in case my shit crashes in the middle of something and I get OCD over these things
Easton Thomas
I'm on Emunand 11.1.0-34U with Luma3DS I suddenly got the fucking update nag, didn't even know it could happen on emunand. Can i still update my emunand in system settings safely?
Camden Parker
Currently fighting one trillion Solgaleos.
Easton Young
upgrade to a9lh
Blake Lewis
All I want to know is if the nag fucks up updating emunand from system menu. A9lh is a chore to do on o3DS and a bit risky too.
Chase Fisher
Anyone know?
Asher Garcia
I guess the update data not being DOWNLOADED from system menu doesn't mean shit.
Jose Myers
It's not a chore. Just update then you wont have to worry about it either way.
Hudson Sullivan
Plailect guide for DSiWare downgrading from 11.2 says to buy a DSiWare game, but I'm trying to downgrade a N3DS with an emunand 2DS. How the fuck do I pull this off? Guide assumes A9LH but says it works with tweaking on emunand, then offers no solution for conflicts like loading the DSiware when it's only owned on emunand and a bought version is required. Should I just install a pirated version to sysnand so it runs on emunand?
Andrew Thomas
...
Joseph King
Can you fucking read? My dilemma is DSiWare needs to be installed on emunand to be useable for the system transfer, but it doesn't run at all unless installed to sysnand as well, so I need to know how I can run it.
Brandon Carter
upgrade to a9lh. Then you dont have to install to sys and emunand.
Lincoln Price
That's the idea, except I'll be going through all that on the N3DS. That's a little much to do for a system I'll be giving away anyways. I'm not totally reconfiguring my CFW for something that can be done on my current setup.
Luis Long
Fieldrunners works dandy with a freeshop-downloaded copy on Sysnand and a legitimately bought copy on Emunand. Thank you for your time and the (1) sage downvote, should be good to go for the system transfer when I get to it.
Joshua Williams
I can't seem to find the serial code/firmware of the new Pokemon 3DS console, is it 10.7?
Nolan Clark
Will those black friday nu3DS consoles have the latest firmware?
Ethan Watson
11.0 according to the serial code thread on leddit
Almost assuredly.
Andrew Cruz
If you've got an o3DS and are looking to upgrade, this is your best shot. Cheap and you can move your NNID over along with your A9LH hack.
Anthony Brown
Okay. How good is SNES VC?
Chase Nguyen
Been wondering myself, does it have SuperFX support for SMRPG and Kirby? Otherwise I'm sticking with that Snes9x build for 3DS.
Mason Richardson
Makes sense since Galaxy comes with 11.0 as well. I doubt they'll ship anything new with an older firmware.
Brandon Flores
Probably the best you can get as far as SNES emulation goes or at least, it's been that way for me, though unfortunately SA-1 and SuperFX games are currently unsupported for injection, so no Star Fox or Super Mario RPG.
Andrew Miller
So, I need a bit of help upgrading SD cards. Formatted a 64GB SD card to Fat32, transferred my installation over onto it, but when I put it in and try to start the 3DS, power light lights up a moment, and then immediately powers off. What do.
Joseph Ramirez
The immediate power-off sounds like your arm9loaderhax.bin isn't in the right spot, check that first. If it still isn't working, make sure your 64GB card was properly formatted (FAT32, 32kb cluster size).
Asher Scott
What I did was create a backup file of my 32GB SD Card (used USB Image Tool, but there's much better programs out there, I bet), restore said file onto my 64GB card, and (since it still assumes it's a 32GB partition) expand the partition using EaseUS Partition Master. Basically the process found here: archive.is/5Tshu
Also do what this guy said first. It could just be that.
Sebastian Reyes
Well, the bin should be in the correct place, considering it's a direct copy of my work 32GB SD card, so assuming it's the latter. Is there a better way of formatting it? I just used the guide in the OP. If not, just gonna do as suggested.
Caleb Morris
I used MiniTool Partition Wizard when formatting my 64GB. Here's the guide:
retard here I'm on luma 10.7, and finally making the jump to AL9h.
Problem: the guide is oriented towards people who don't have CFW/downgrades already, I already did that shit to set up RXtools/Luma months ago.
It even says on the first page of the install guide to proceed the guide under sysnand, but doesn't that expose me to update nags and everything?
John Myers
more specifically, Use one of the following alternate entrypoints to get into the homebrew launcher:
and then it lists a whole bunch of game exploits I've never needed to do in the past, and further below gives an option to continue to a 9.2.0 downgrade
At this point the guide has not told me if I need to be in sysnand nor what I should do if I don't have any of those game exploits, I just have an old Luma3DS. I could boot into my existing homebrew launcher but that kind of directly goes against the guide saying to stay in sysnand.
The fuck do I do?
Camden Wilson
follow the guide from where it starts talking about decrypt9 on 9.2 the only difference is that you use your emunand backup instead of sysnand backup when finishing up the sysnand install after you get your keys from 2.1
Kevin Wilson
can i update now and in the future if i already have a9lh?
Camden Peterson
When looking for my black screen with Pokemon issue it says one of the possible reason is an issue with my boot manager.
Is Menuhax a "boot manager"?
Gavin Russell
Turns out the formatting was the issue. OP guide does -not- format it with a 32kb cluster, so 3DS won't read it. Thanks for the fix.
Jayden Edwards
i think the cfw is a boot manager
Parker Campbell
any alternative download? I tried twice to download and first it told me it exceeded the "no-account" quota. Logged in and now I exceeded the "free even with account" quota til 6 hours from now.
Even if I IP switched, I would have to log in and probably max out the same quota again
Jack Edwards
Pokemon Moon? I assume you use emunand and an O3DS correct? If you do then you have to enable reboot patches in your CFW menu since Pokemon Sun/Moon are high-memory titles and they reboot the 3DS essentially when you load them to get into high memory mode
Or just get Luma3DS and already have the reboot patches there
Josiah Price
I'm using Luma3DS!
Isaac Stewart
Is it possible to dump my Moon savegame and put it into Sun?
Carson Ramirez
Are you using the latest version?
Nathaniel Adams
Specifficly o3DS installed with FBI 2.4.2, have the latest version of Luma (from lumaupdater cia), and am on rednand 11.2.0-35u
I tested my retail Smash cart and that won't boot either
Isaac King
Smash Bros. is also a high-memory title. Try looking for any kind of firmware patches in the Luma boot menu (hold select while booting)
I don't recall having to enable any kind of reboot patches for Luma or Rxtools myself (I started on rxtools and upgraded to Luma so maybe that makes a difference?) but my friend on CakeCFW had to enable reboot patches to get high memory games to work
Noah Nguyen
ayy. Just did some Googling
Did you replace your menuhax boot.3dsx with the Luma one? Because you might have to do that to get high-mem games to work. Loading Luma from the HBL might not work
Luis Sanders
My options are
Where do I get that?
Carter Kelly
upgrade to a9lh.
Henry Cruz
If you download Luma from the Github or whatever in the .7z archive is a folder called menuhax and inside is the boot.3dsx file. Just replace that with the one currently at the root of your SDCard
Does Nintendo really have no way to patch that? The only reason I'd avoid going that route is I'm very wary of fucking with my 3DS' NAND in any way
Brayden Cox
It worked! Thanks.
Gabriel Hernandez
There is literally no way for them to patch it. And it puts code in part of the nand that is seen as garbage, so it doesn't affect anything anyways.
Xavier Jackson
Help here?
Lincoln Taylor
Jesus, the threads are so slow, but there never ceases to be people who are new to this and ask the same questions.
Yes, A9LH can update to the latest version. Yes, it can play online. Yes, there are infrequent updates to both Luma and A9LH, but you don't worry about those for the most part. Yes, you're a fag.
Landon Perez
I do not know, but I wouldn't think so. They are essentially different games.
So, i checked into it. There was no folder with correct number so my guess is that i deleted it right. Only thing that's still weird is that i don't see a decrypted id for the animal crossing update. Only the encrypted. My best guess is that the update doesn't currently on the EU version of the game.

i'm installing but i will when it's done
Luke Reed
So i finally found the problem. I was still using rxTools and this fucked it. Updated my CFW to Luma and it booted instantly. *Sigh* Now i have to check what i need to change because it seems like that all settings/themes got saved from my rx cfw (it looks the same) or am i wrong?
Leo Fisher
why does it say moon?
Chase Myers
Time to upgrade to a9lh.
I still don't know why you guys answer questions from emuserfs. 4/5 times a problem is solved by upgrading.
Jackson Russell
Kind of a stupid paranoid question, but is it safe to play Pokemon Moon while connected to the internet? Considering it isn't out yet.
Robert Cooper
Just a small reminder that a9lh and emunand are not mutually exclusive. If you're too lazy to get rid of your emunand (like me), you can still use a9lh for lightning fast boot times.
Luis Jenkins
...
Brandon Bennett
it's a gray area, nintendo might notice and care or they might not. personally i'd rather err on the side of caution and just wait for release before using it online.
Nathan Butler
Yeah that's what I've been doing. I disable wireless when I play it.
Cameron Stewart
At least 10 people have received my mii that treats with "trump 2016"
Kevin Hernandez
So was it Sun or Moon user?
Aiden Hernandez
I'm the user who posted the CIA link. Here are pics from my O3DS
Jace Wood
Do I ever need to update arm9 has? I'm on an older version, yet have the sysnand on 11, but have no issue running games or using FBI.
How do I upgrade (if I should)
Wyatt Martin
The guide has a whole section for it. It shouldn't cause any issues but if you want to update to be sure it's your choice.
Jaxon Jones
i switched from rxtools to luma but now smash no longer works. it just takes me to sysnand. what went wrong?
Nathan Johnson
People are saying importing your Moon save to Sun should work without issues. How does one do this with JKSV?
Cameron Perry
see
Isaiah Anderson
thanks user, i think i got it from here.
Jordan King
this is the key word user should have held out for sun in the first place
Nicholas Adams
I will however note that for some reason, despite being on Sun, my in-game time doesn't seem to match my 3DS time, as in it's still daylight when it's 12 AM on my 3DS. I think there is a flag in the Moon save that controls the day/night feature for the games. Otherwise the saves do transfer painlessly.
Carson White
How? Because I can't read moonrunes, my sneaky 2DS updated whilst I was faffing around. Currently on 11.0.0-33J
Jordan Hill
As a follow-up, the official browserhax seems to be down, so I've been using the following mirror: browserhax.dahou.se/ with "Old3DS spider31hax Only 10.6.0-31-11.0.0-33(aka X.X.X-31-X.X.X-33) and X.X.X-2 - X.X.X-27"
But no matter what, after initializing save data in the browser and going directly to that, I get what I assume is the nag message and then an A press closes the browser.
Is there anything I can do?
Benjamin Moore
Can confirm. Got it working. Had to run Sun once just so JKSV would recognize the save though.
Camden Nelson
Yeah, browser nag preventing me from getting to any website at all. Not finding any help elsewhere, nothing that seems to work on n3DS/o3DS seems to work in this instance for me.
Cooper Powell
Easy fix, I'm pretty sure it's there in the guide.
Set date to 01/01/2000, and time to 00:00. Run BrowserHax again, it should work until the day ticks over. If it does give you the nag before the day is up, just reset the time.
Gabriel Watson
That was one of the many things I tried and sadly, has zero effect.
Elijah Wood
Firmware version? Got a cart like OoT? Or can borrow one?
Asher Nguyen
2DS on 11.0.0-33J.
And nah. The only actual cartridge games I own for it are Gyakuten Saiban 123, Dai Gyakuten Saiban and Pokemon Y. So, short of buying another game, my only option was browserhax.
Kayden Sanders
You didn't read the guide, or even the OP, did you?
11.0 is fucked for downgrades. Only way to do it is Hardmodding or using a 2nd hacked console. If you want, don't upgrade and wait until December, the scene devs will release something new, but they're not releasing until after Pokemon. Hardmodding is literally one solder, but if you've never done it before and don't know someone who can, just wait.
Jacob Murphy
I did read the OP, but didn't see the guide until now, no.
But the OP suggests that Homebrew is still usable on 11, just not CFW. So that's what I've been trying to do. If OP is wrong about that, then, well that sure is a lot of time I've been wasting.
I can wait. That's fine.
Charles Howard
noice
Juan Martinez
INSTALLATION GUIDE Truly a brilliant display of literacy.
Kayden James
no longer available rip
Aiden Lewis
Honestly, the way red text is used on this site, I tend to almost be blind to it now and skip over it.
But yeah, my bad. In this case, it was worth reading. Whoops.
Adam Baker
...
Wyatt Kelly
Good thing anyways since my own stupidity on that would've prevented Fieldrunners and Steelhax from being carried over.
Josiah Young
I've read through the thread and followed the guide and I seem to be on CFW on my n3DS. I got FBI installed, running Luma 6.5 and installed the Moon CIA but it won't get passed the 3DS splash screen as if it were rebooting to go to High Memory mode.
Should I replace the boot.3dsx again and see if that fixes it? Did I fuck up and miss a step?
Angel Cook
Get past. Jesus.
Jordan Torres
That would be because it does need Expanded Memory Mode. Sounds like your reboot patches are fucking up, as it should be hanging on a black screen for no more than 30 seconds. 3DS screen means it's fucked.
I suggest downgrading your version of Luma to the stable before the one you've got now, and trying that. If that works, feel free to update back to 6.5. If all of that fails, not sure what else the problem could be.
Elijah Phillips
Yeah, doesn't get to a black screen. I'm not using a boot manager, as far as I was aware. I installed (from what I understand) with a9lh stuff from the guide, and it autoboots to Luma.
I'll try to get to a previous stable release, thanks!
Logan Sullivan
It is actually. See the designated SuMo thread.
Kayden White
My mate's did this on Luma a few versions ago.
My obvious solution for his EmuNAND was to clear Luma, use RxTools, then ReiNAND, then old versions of AuReiNAND, then finally worked out just to revert Luma.
Parker Garcia
Post game lets you change the flag where you catch the cover legend
Josiah Lee
Elaborate more?
Angel Stewart
So, I grabbed 6.3.1 for Luma and replaced my the arm9loaderhax.bin and it still gets me to the same screen when I try to boot Moon. Did I fuck up and not replace enough things? I'm not sure how to revert given I don't know how Luma installs proper.
Leo Parker
Is there any save editor for Sun/Moon yet?
Jason Davis
Install the LumaUpdater.cia google and try running that for the latest stable. If you've got it, try opening MHG/4 or Smash and see if they reboot.
Yes, check the catalog for the Pokemon thread, it's in the OP.
Easton Rivera
I ran the updater to get 6.5 as the latest normal release, no joy. I don't have MHG/4 or Smash to test with.
I guess at this point it wouldn't hurt to try the latest hourly and if something gets fucked, I'll restore the last version.
Noah Scott
Or it could fail to download the latest hourly, that's fine too. I guess I can do the opposite and go back even further from 6.5 and go to just 6.3.
Hudson Lewis
Welp. I was fucking about with it and tried to launch the title from FBI and now it's frozen so hard holding the power button won't turn it off. Go me. Time to rip out the battery.
Wyatt Cook
...
Luis Flores
Welp, I'm about to give up on this, since nothing I seem to do makes a difference. Maybe I'll try installing Sun and see if for some reason the Moon CIA fucked up.
Camden Parker
So the QR scanner is basically an anti social version of the friend safari?
Leo Lewis
Keep holding it down, it will work.
Sebastian Harris
Also makes it easy to get to web pages.
Jose Green
???
Hudson Morales
Yeah, I had to take the bottom off to actually get the button to depress.
Almost done installing Sun and then I can see if I fucked up somewhere else or what else I should try.
Asher Miller
Nope, same thing. Stuck on the 3DS screen after picking a game. Keep going backwards on Luma?
Caleb Perry
I checked, they don't seem to have the latest version of PKHex that supports Sun/Moon, and nowhere else does either. I tried building it myself, but visual studio 2013 shat the bed, so I'm installing VS 2015 to see if that works any better.
Daniel Martin
No. I already softbricked and locked one of my 3dses due to a corrupt 9.2 dump. Checked the hash and everything. If my 3ds works, im not risking losing my cfw.
Nicholas Garcia
Wait. I'm retarded. Do I need to update from 9.2? I mean, a9lh should be installed properly if I had followed the guide.
Jose Barnes
If you have a9lh+CFW installed, you should update.
Ethan Cooper
Aye aye, cap'n. Updating now.
Nolan Ramirez
Wait, did they say they have news regarding 11.0? I'm in the same situation as that other guy and I'm just hanging around waiting for an update.
Is there an actual reason to keep my hopes up?
Jose Clark
Oh nice. Me being retarded was all it was. Updated and the game launched instantly. Thanks guys!
James Murphy
After you beat the elite four you can go to the area where you catch the cover legend, a hole in the fabric of space lets you go to the other game's dimension
Needs to be compiled yourself, which you should know how to do. Right?
There's that, but there's a guy who released a few other hax who said he has a primary exploit that he will release after November. Only reason he won't release it now is fuckery with Pokemon, eg a new version that stamps it out and forces kids to update to play Pokemon, or if they get it by chance. He had 2, but one got patched in 11.2 when only he knew of it.
I should of thought of asking you that.
I believe it does.
Jace Torres
Great news, on both ends. And thank you for the info.
I honestly don't mind waiting even if a few months more until everything is tested and working well if it means I can finally get off 11.0.
Brayden Gomez
Cannot wait. Will finally be able to pirate this shit.
Jaxson Hill
If you super-dooper can't wait, perhaps trade in your system for an older firmware? Or, buy a shitty 2DS for however many US dollerydoos they cost. I say shitty, but I love my 2DS.
Brayden Jenkins
Do you have brain damage?
Either way, someone gave me a link to a download that gets autobuilt whenever there's an update.
Isaac Miller
...
Wyatt Martin
Oh gee.
Elijah Peterson
I have a 2ds, and I love it too, I can wait
Samuel Jenkins
Can someone help me on this? Browserhax is down so i tried the alternatives like the one above Dahou and Mordor but I still can't get in.
Jeremiah Rivera
somewhat related, but how do you install wads on a wii? I have the homebrew channel, but I can't remember what to do next.
Bentley Lewis
WAD Manager, IIRC
Andrew Hughes
Let's say I get console banned/NNID banned because I joined online at the pokemon moon .cia, is there anyway to evade the ban?
Chase Roberts
Is it just me, or is the localized writing quality poor this time around?
Owen Allen
When I try to launch homebrew launcher (the .cia version) the system flash the colors (as supposed to do), but after the red screen everything goes black and I have to restart. I need to access decrypt9, do you guy have any idea what could it be?
I already arm9lh and Luma, I just needed to inject a file through decrypt9.
Brayden Fisher
Thanks for covering my slack when I got lazy making a new thread OP, but I've got it from here. Made some edits to the pasta
Aaron Ramirez
also, does anyone have a link to a reliable guide for downgrading via steelhax?
Ryder Jackson
Can't you hold start while booting to enter decrypt9?
Colton Mitchell
Or maybe the localization is so good it's showing us how shit the Japanese script is
Thomas Long
the same way you install .cia's, with a homebrew app that installs them.
Josiah Phillips
Besides the obligatory reggie meme I don't have too many complaints. Fuck Kukui's dialect I guess.
Isaiah Gomez
modfag tadpole here
I'm trying to get the romfs.bin from pokemon moon cia and it says it's corrupt. what do I do?
google tells me to find another cia file but I'm sure there's a way to decrypt the cia using my 3DS and Decrypt9
Jaxson Hall
I noticed some phrases weren't incorrect, but sounded really hammy in their grammar. Can't recall any immeadiately, but you're not crazy.
What did he mean by this? Like, you are a mod on the site and you're new to this shit? Anyways, if you're downloading the same zip file as everyone else did, it was already decrypted, not that anyone bothered to actually read what I wrote when I first made the thread and linked it. Every single question was "Hurr can Citra???"
Can you clarify, are you using Decrypt9 to dump the game after it has been installed? And what is corrupted? The game or the romfs? Which program is telling you so?
Jeremiah Ortiz
I am retarded and injected fbi into the health and safety app without dumping hs.app . Can I dump hs.app off of another console and use it on this one? Both consoles are n3ds's.
Jonathan Price
I got an R4 3DS, put the wood files on it, and when I try to launch it on my NDS, it just goes to a black screen. Watdo?
Jackson Mitchell
try reseating your microsd card in the r4. my acekard goes black screen on boot when the sd card isn't fully seated
Joshua Perry
Injecting the hs.app from the other n3ds was successful
Lincoln Moore
I absolutely cannot get NA tomodachi life to run on my eu 3ds, the jap version even works fine but NA tomodachi life alone crashes and reboots the system no matter what I do. I mentioned something about this last thread too, since then I've wiped everything related to tomodachi life from my ds and installed the NA version from scratch once with and once without the update it still crashes. I'm not really that desperate to play it or anything, but I just can't figure out why this one game from one region alone fails to launch consistently. Has anyone had success launching the na version on an eu 3ds or even the eu version of tomodachi life on an na 3ds? It'd be nice to know whether this is universal or just isolated to my system at least
Levi Williams
sometimes luma fails to unblock flash carts
Brayden Wood
If a flash card is blacklisted you get the "An error has occurred" screen, I've never ever seen that happen with Luma3DS. Only the occasional "no cartridge inserted" tile because the SD card needs reseating.
Brandon Anderson
I have never gotten an error screen in the situations where upgrading luma allows me to use my flashcart
Jacob Hernandez
I want to perform a clean reinstall on a system with luma3DS on it with an additional emuNAND partition(I basically want to remove this partition). Is it safe to format the SD card and then follow the guide from the start?
Luke Howard
Have you tried region emulation?
Liam Phillips
If all you want to do is remove the emuNAND partition, there's an option to do that in EmuNAND9 Tool, I do believe.
Aaron Gray
I have compiled PKHex but I have no idea which save file manager I should use. Help?
Elijah Sullivan
Any will do. JKSV is probably the easiest in terms of inability to bugger up. They all dump and inject saves the same way, so just choose one.
Nolan Russell
Just because I was to much of a lazy cunt to go and get a SD card and a reader. So, while the 11.1 update may have fucked me already, updating to 11.2 would most assuredly deny me any sort of piracy, right? At least considering the foreseeable future
Brandon Murphy
I can't run emunand9 from the HBC. I remember running it on boot once I think but I forgot how.
Jonathan Parker
I want to ear her donut. If you know what I mean.
Jaxon Cooper
yeah, you're a fat ass
Liam Rogers
How did your system automatically apply the update? Doesn't it just ask if you want to?
Kevin Hernandez
By mindlessly pressing A while shit is booting up.
Aaron Richardson
Hack will come out for 11.0-1 in December according to scene devs. Someone said 27th of Dec, but I'd think it would be earlier, by a week or two. 11.2 is shitty, but no one knows if the exploit for 11.1 will work on it.
Did you learn your lesson, user?
Go to your SD card, go to the payloads folder and there's a text file somewhere. Open it up and it will show you which button triggers which payload, eg hourglass9, decrypt9 etc. I think that's where the .txt is, it might be in the Luma folder, but it's there.

try doing the guide without menuhax.
David Allen
Okay, fuck me, I think I know what's the deal.
Fixed and now it's sending network request to download.
Charles Nguyen
I can't find any file like that, but forget it, I'll just pretend that emunand partition doesn't exist. I have plenty of space in my card anyway. Thanks for the help regardless.
Eli Cooper
check your luma payloads folder
Ian Cook
How's everyone enjoying the new Pokeman?
Jaxon Gray
i don't like pokeman
Eli Perry
It sucks. Okay not really but it's not that good.
Robert Lee
I keep getting asked to update my system when attempting to use browserhax. Is there any way to fix this?
Levi Garcia
Read the OP.
Aaron Jenkins
if you got the browser to prompt you to update you are fucked.
Kayden Sanchez
I think you set your time to midnight on 01/01/2000
Joseph Clark
Bah.
Now I'm getting something else.
"checking for am:u…. Did not get am:u handle! Attempting svchax…
This message has been on my 3ds for half an hour. And this is my 3rd time.
Do I have to keep trying?
Henry Howard
I just got to the second island earlier today. It's not Gen 6, so it's an automatic plus. It's good that flying types don't have godawful idle animations just for the convenience of a tacked-on battle mode nobody used in XY. Plus, the Z Crystal system having generic varities means that you don't have to use pokemon that are specifically tailored to use the Z Crystals like how it was with Mega Stones. Probably still would not recommend this game to newcomers, but it's a breath of fresh air at the very least.
Luis Hernandez
What about for someone who hasn't played since Silver/Gold and just thinks it's a good time to try out Pokemon again?
Lincoln Bell
Download the game and pirate it to test it yourself. If you are not tired to fuck after 2 hours (you will) then keep on playing.
Cooper Lewis
I think this is the generally recommended play order: Emerald -> Platnium -> Heart Gold/Soul Silver -> Black/White -> Black 2/White 2 Then you can try Sun/Moon. Maybe try out XY and Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire if you want to see the games at their lowest. Also, I recommend playing all of the above using difficulty/full pokedex hacks, so you can get absolutely everything you can out of every game. Generally any romhack from Drayano is of great quality. If nothing else, play Blaze Black 2/Volt White 2 (and read up on the story of Black/White if you seriously give a shit about Pokemon's story).
Caleb Davis
Smea is being a bitch and keeps taking down his websites this week. That might be the problem. If you want, there's some archaic, Lovecraftian method of getting MenuHax to run a ropbinpayload off the SD without a net connection. All I remember it needing it to go to Smealum's site, google it, then scroll down until there's a section where you can input your exact firmware and download a ropbin, which you place in the root of your SD. Now when you boot into HBL through BrowserHax, run MenuHax, and hold X as you press install, which prevents it going online for ropbins.
I prefer it to everything except Gen 3 It's so damn comfy, having a pretty cute plot, that actually exists as opposed to past games, and it's just fun to run about this paradise for a while. Don't listen to naysayers. I hated XY, and ORAS was passable, but this is a major step up. I sunk 30 hours in so far, having just beat the E4. It takes a while, unlike past games.
Aaron Scott
Ah. Well I'll keep a look out on his twitter, if not, try again tomorrow.
I'm not extremely eager to play pokemon right now anyways.
Ethan Mitchell
How can I tell if I properly installed the filter.txt for JKSV?
Nicholas Phillips
JKSM*
Logan Roberts
In the guide, right at the start, when I need to access a website to enter decrypt9, my browser crashes every time. I have been trying for almost 3 hours now, is really that hard?
Christian Diaz
Are you on 9.2? Tried initializing the browser savedata? The only exploit that took longer than a few minutes to work was sliderhax
Matthew Kelly
I'm on 4.2 Sysnand (it's a friend's console, he had rxtools but he can't access emunand anymore so he asked me to fix and I'm trying to arm9lh it).
What can I do to allow Freeshop or CIAngel to recognize undub games? I want to get the DLCs for SMT: Apocalypse undub, but the game doesn't appear in Freeshop or CIAngel.
Jackson Murphy
Install the dlc manually
Nicholas Fisher
Tried reseating it several times, didn't work. Tried reformatting the card to FAT32, didn't work. Tried another card I use in my PSP, didn't work.
Always just gives me a black screen when I try to launch it. Did I just get a bad flashcart?
Justin Miller
Do you need to extract anything to the SD card for it to work? Pretty sure that's the case with the Gateway clones.
I'm right between what every solution I find on Google is about. It's always either solutions for it not showing up on the home screen, or for the loading screen being forever. It shows up on the homescreen for me, but I never even get to a load screen. Just a black screen.
Jose Cooper
Only other thing I can think of is have you at any time hard-patched sysNAND? plailect.github.io/Guide/troubleshooting Failing that, it's possible that the card is rubbish.
Owen Anderson
I found out that I was apparently using the wrong files despite them looking the exact same other than having an "i" at the end.
Andrew Perry
Just watched a few minutes of a stream by Smealum, and he mentioned that someone is making an entrypoint from the Sound application units ship with.
Didn't mention how it works or firmware needed, but I'm curious as to how it would work.
Blake Rivera
Noob question. I'm running sysNand 9.2 running menuhax with Luma CFW emuNand ver 11.0. Is it safe to update emuNand to the latest version? Like 11.2? Also, if I try and install A9LH, will I keep my games?
Hunter Campbell
Yes, it's safe. Yes, you can transfer your emuNAND to your sysNAND if you follow the guide. So you can keep your games and save files. It's worth noting that you could temporarily delete the games from your SD to shorten the backup and transfer times, but you don't have to.
