Fair warning, it's not that great. It's full of references and doesn't have a large variety of art. It is comfy, however. No sex though. And it's basically fully voiced. I'm on my second read, though if you do pick it up, one read is probably enough. The dating routes don't change the story at all, so pick your favorite girl, read once, and then you can move on if you want.

Katawa shoujo isn't all that deviant really, it doesn't fetishize the disabilities. You just romance girls who happen to have one.

That's not a comfy dating VN, but it is good in general. Arcueid is best girl, though. Akiha is a close second.

Like says, Katawa Shoujo is incredibly vanilla in that regard. The whole thing is about forming relationships with cute girls who happen to have some disability or another, not "I have an amputation fetish" the VN.

I enjoyed the story of the Kohaku route, but I found Hisui more worthy of the best girl title. Kohaku I just felt bad for. Ciel route is fun, better than Arc in some ways. What sells the Arc route is Arc herself.
This was one of if not the best non-action scenes in the game.

Well, that and it was written to encompass a fuckhuge story that Nasu had to work waifus into, along with crazy complex plotlines for each route. It really feels like they wrote all of the story first and then realized no one would read if there's no porn so the porn was written at the last second and shoved in awkward places. Tsukihime at least seems to have sex in sensible places. It also feels like it had better pacing.

The pacing in Tsukihime is leagues better. Heaven's Feel is definitely the route that got hit hardest in F/SN, in that regard. Plus the awkward sex.

Abolutely horrible. Although it is slightly satisfying to see Shirou improve by the end, I think Chaos;Head would be a better example of slow pacing done well, pic related being probably over 95% through the game.

Funny how HF has Kirei dump all the plot info on Shirou right at the beginning and still manages to fuck up the pacing.

HF is remarkable in that it has probably the strongest opening of the three routes, definitely the best ending, and a number of amazing scenes scattered, and yet manages to pad out all of the remainder with the slowest parts of the game. I still enjoyed it, but it somehow felt like it had more filler than Hollow Ataraxia, over ninety percent of which is fanservice filler.

A visual novel less about romance and more about making friends.
Notably, you start with some bros for life that really are complete bros throughout the entire story (and play very major roles throughout). As opposed to the standard visual novels where your male friends are discarded like trash as soon as you get on a girl's route.
This is also one of the only visual novels to actually make me laugh out loud. This humour in this game is spot-on. It can be immature at times, but that just lends to its charm, and the feeling of boys being boys.
Have a box of tissues handy.
