I don't know, why don't you play them? I'm downloading 5 for the PSP atm.

The games after 2 were not really developed by gainax as far as I know, so they change direction from 2. Whereas 2 has fun stuff like adventuring and winning tournaments, every game after it stirps it out, in favour of making the "raising" part deeper. So like in 3 for instance they put a lot of emphasis on your daughters relationships with the rival characters.

In my opinion they're not as fun because of this reason, but i'm sure there are some people who enjoy that sort of thing more.
