Starbound Server

So since we have an "official" gMod server and a test Terraria server, should I invest some time into a Starbound server?

It'd need mods to be fun.

I could arrange some mods depending on the popular vote.

Vore and pony mod please

The problem is there are no fun mods.
You'd probably need the Aryan Race mod and 156414124152135 mods to make it less shit than vanilla autism blocks.

I've been working on that.

The mod I'm working on already has more content that the Aryan Race mod. I'm working on new and interesting dungeons along with my new assets. The lore is being converted into something not shit as well

No. Let it die so we can forget the pain.

youtu.be/0yqavWHco8A?t=3m15s

are there any mods that make managing inventories not a big hassle?

anyone got the most up to date version of this? Also add in fraken verse just for the hell of it

why is there no porn of that floran loli

Played around with it not too long ago.
Its kind of hard to believe how not fucking fun they made this in the end, had to force myself through most of it.

Not sure how mods would make it any better.

Its sort of extraordinary isnt it? All the components need for fun are there, but its like they just never ever come together. Its got the drawback of being big and time consuming enough to suck you in for an hour or two long play session, only to somehow leave you feeling completely unfulfilled and unsatisfied by it by the end.

>the beta was unironically better in every gameplay-aspect

Alright, seeing how many people dislike Starbound, I will set up a Terraria server instead.

Farming is so pointless. Like, I cannot believe how hard they failed at it.

It's terrible. At every level it's terrible, and tediuos and unrewarding. there are maybe 25 unique planet types and they all have the same or similar dungeons and when you run into one once you've seen all the others of the same type. Only the loot is new, an the loot isn't that great.

Literally outshined by either Terraria in every fucking way.

...

It was hard to fuck up Starbound, yet they managed to do it. When I first pirated Rampaging Koala, the game was somewhat lackluster, namely how the bosses and the whole gameplay in general were just "farm resources from your current planet tier, craft thing, use thing, kill thing, get MacGuffin to be able to access next tier planet, repeat", but it had some dumb fun things, namely techs and whatnot, but they completely botched the game they had made for their official release. No fun allowed techs, badly written storyline you are supposed to care about, less accessible and therefore slower space travel, shittier crafting system, cosmetic-only races (which is doubly dumb considering there are some crops that, according to their description, are supposed to be poisonous to some races)…

Then I realized they had made some stuff for newer betas, like the unique SAIL avatars for each race, and simply removed them for absolutely no reason. What the fuck were they thinking? I can kind of see some possible justifications behind the others, but really, what the fuck made them remove a nice cosmetic addition they had already made? They also removed biomes, and many other things. It's like the dumb fucks decided to simply remove everything that wasn't complete from the game and call it 1.0 simply because it had no half finished features. People tell me they will still add stuff to the game in future releases, but something tells me 1.2 will be the last time they will update the game and Chucklefuck will promptly forget about it after that since they had already made money from it.

All the bad stuff from the first versions stayed, and literally the only aspect in which it has improved is bosses (which, by the way, are fairly fun now, but they are sparse). Shitty procedural critter AI that makes most weapons useless, the fact that most weapons are simply useless in all situations, the boring crafting system, the absolutely no incentive to dig deeper than barely below surface level, the stupid ancient gate planets that require being reactivated with core fragments and still lead to the same fucking place you have already bookmarked in your ship's teleporter (seriously, what the fuck? Why even make fucking cool looking special snowflake planets scattered across the whole galaxy just to hold these little shits if they are useless?), the extra slow crops, the boring and samey planets (four to six biomes per planet would have made the game about thrice as fun to explore), the shitty procedural quests that somehow manage to be worse than Skyrim's Radiant Quests, the fucking nonsensical imbalance between some objects (why waste 15 diamonds and 3000 pixels when you can spend some vegetal fibers and copper and get the same functionality? Even fans in their forums are rightfully complaining about how this is stupid), the non craftable pickaxes… these are just some of the many easy to fix design mistakes the game has. It makes the game look beyond amateur; I have seen some Minetest mods that were infinitely more polished and better designed than this shit. This is how bad Chucklefuck is at game design.

I really want to like Starbound because it has some cool things, like fun to explore friendly settlements for each race, but they fucked up so hard with that game I don't even know. I just wish some day somebody decides to make a libre clone of Starbound just like they did with Minecraft/Minetest and unfucks Starbound's really idiotic design choices.

Death is too good for that scarf fetishist and the fattie.

Honestly, at this point I think they're just fucking incompetent. The game suffered years of delays and under-delivered on almost every single on of its promises, including some of its early access stretch goals (in fact, I may be mistaken but I think some of those weren't delivered full stop). Between all that and them totally re balancing the !.0 version to be anti-fun in almost every conceivable way, it probably shouldn't come as a surprise that they would remove functional, if incomplete features, since they clearly hate fun and very clearly had absolutely no idea what they were doing from day one, and apparently havent learned anything from the entire debacle. To boot.

Such a sad waste.

But what about the race-based SAIL avatars? Why did they remove those? How do you fucking explain removing something that was already done and gave the game some uniqueness and charisma? Were they planning on adding more races and wanted to cut on costs or something? I just can't understand it.

Also Novakids are dumb. There, I said it

Tell me more.

She is a disgusting Mary Sue, though. She is the best Floran huntress, and tries not to act like a Floran (namely, she isn't a murderous little shit, which could be understandable since it's supported by the lore, and attempts not to talk like a Floran, which is beyond stupid since there is nothing wrong with accents) because she is more intelligent than the other Florans. She also has a fucking cool hairstyle that's inaccessible for player characters. Her weapon is also OP as shit and her phase's final boss will probably be killed mostly by her.

I also have my doubts about her being a loli. Probably just a teen slut or whatever.

Oh, that girl. She was meant to be a loli?

Again I suspect the answer is incompetence. The shitty, multi species story they settled on in the end (as opposed to the multi-origin one they initially promised) specified that everyone in the Federation or whatever were a united organization, so obviously they thought it would be narratively inconsistent for every race to have their own unique S,A.I.L avatar. Of course, because they are incompetent, instead of simply implementing a way of altering the S.A.I.Ls appearance either as a purchasable upgrade or a options menu configuration, they chose to axe it entirely, thereby rendering all the development time and resources they allocated to implementing them entirely moot (once again, incompetence).

The entire development of this game is mired in the developers shitty decision making. Normally this is pretty funny because normally when this happens, the game looks shit even from the outset ala No Man's Sky. With Starbound there was a real glimmer of fun in the concept, and the existence of similar games like Terraria confirmed that. Seeing it come even remotely close to being in some way , or heaven forbid even mostly good and then fall flat on its face on almost every from is just depressing.

That explanation could make sense (it would also explain why the AI requires licenses to let you upgrade the ship, at least), but it doesn't explain why every race gets a special ship.

Fuck Chucklefish, I guess. The game promised, they had enough funds to make a great game, and they decided to waste all of it going back and forth instead of at least attempting to recycle assets in other places.

It's very obvious that they do not have competent programmers anymore. Just some artfags that whip up some shit to keep the plebs that ''still' want to play entertained. That's why the majority of changes have been new pointless stuff and art, but not proper mechanics.

And do what exactly?
There is literally nothing to do in Starbound other than building and ERPing.

Might as well make a Terraria server or try to make an uncucked SS13 server.
The first one is usually always appreciated, the second one is needed since SS13 Holla Forums servers somehow always end up with the same autists being mods.

Yes absolutely, make sure to buy Starbound™ to get the best experience.

Every single fucking time.

You have answered your own question.

It's always the same circle of data-mining faggots hosting servers and shilling for them.

See above.

We just need a host that isn't fucking retarded.
The biggest issue that ss13 servers have is that mods always try to be the "Cool Mod", so every round ends up being a shitfest, then they turn the whole thing into rulecuckery to the extreme, making places like yogstation actually inviting by comparison.

Seriously: one normal host, mods that just do their job and capital punishment for any attentionwhore.
It's a simple recipe yet everyone costantly fucks it up.

I knew it would not be good from the start because Tiy never had his hand in any of the gameplay parts of Terraria before he fucked off.

This tbh, they're a bunch of hacks, and the team was infested with Tumblerina SJWs as well (lest we forget the shitfit they pitched over the Ayyyyyran Race Mod).

To be entirely fair though, they did publish Stardew valley and Risk of Rain alongside a bunch of other indie stuff, so not everything they touch turns to shit. Fuck them as a dev house though, they should leave that to real professionals.

I just realized how retarded my own post was.

I mean, Valve published games as well.
Doesn't make them good developers.

They basically give money to people that make good stuff so they can get a cut, big deal.

This is Holla Forums.

Mods are the ones that enable and encourage attention whores. Remember mumble? The betamax brazilian that went "we can't permaban someone cuz vagina" and "well that subhuman is suicidal and we really have to worry about the PR of an Holla Forums server :^)"? Daybans? Gitgud using telesci to take puppysky out of jail?

SS13 is a shit game to begin with and it's a magnet that attracts low-functioning autists, put it near Holla Forums and you'll have the same erpfaggot that pretends to be a girl hosting servers just to fuck with people/datamine until he's bored and moves onto the next one.

And literally every server has the exact same admin roster.

>no it's not taft

Considering I play on /vg/station I have no idea what you're talking about.

Been playing stabound a lot now (right now i have 220+ hours on it) and i can safely say to you that the game only start to get fun when you have about 200+ mods installed that fix basically all their stupid gameplay decisions.

Farming is streamlined and you don't need to babysit it, can even buy/craft robots to do it for you, and the produce sell for 100% of the price, there is a lot of sidegrades when it comes to weapons and armor, and the armor has augmentation slots for you to fine build you character play-style, re-added insane bullet types and melee specials, better techs, less time hunting for clues for the main missions, more side missions, better dungeons, more shit on the underground, varied planets and other shit like stations on the systems, races and weathers, made combat faster, revamped NPC AI…

I've made a collection in the workshop called "Make Starbound Great Collection" if you anons want to take a look at it.

forgot the pictures.

Alright, Terraria server it is.

Alright, Terraria server it is.

Is that D.va's mecha in the fourth picture?

Yeah, it's s.va mech, a Tau Battlesuit and two OG mechs.

Playing a game made by stereotypical goons who think they are very clever people for making a good bit of money based on lies whilst having contempt for their audience…

Holy shit, i forgot how to write i guess.

Sounds promising, I did a similar thing with TESIV: Oblivion, after the bland disaster of Skyrim, ended up having a blast. Ill give your collection a shot.

Did someone say they needed a server?

That was me. And I'm portuguese, Brazillians are alright IRL, but online they chimpout like fuck.
Like I said at the time, I didn't have permissions to ban people and I was the only one with acess to the logs. All I asked was for people to wait until one of the burger mods got online.
From the short time I had admin priviledges, I saw exactly 7 shitters who deserved a ban. And I remember all their ckeys.
The thing is, the first 6? All I had to do was talk to them. Just a 5 minute conversation. Some compensantion to the other player, and we'd all go back to enjoy playing the game. And on those 6 cases, five of them learned something. Or thaught me anyway. One of them and he damn well knows who he is didn't. I simply left a note for the actual admins, came back the next night and he was already banned.
The "vagina" you're referencing was a bad call on my part.
I had one close-friend suicide when I was in high-school. Then a year later another attempted the same shit.
I don't expect empathy, this is a chan after all, but I acted how I think was the most correct way and I wouldn't betray my personal values over internet brownie points or nudes.
I've apologized a bunch of times, but I'll apologize again. By trying to be cool again like the other 6 shitters, all I did was grant that faggot another day of griefing. Biggest disapointment in my short SS13 admin career.

Home station or or other location?
noice

...

Home. Upload speeds are shit (12mbps), but I doubt the game needs that much.

Starbound is a guilty pleasure of mine, I'd absolutely host for you guys. I can't pay a lot of attention to moderation/administration after the first few days, but I can absolutely get it up and running. I'll work on it tonight if you want.

Just post a list of mods that you guys want, and hopefully agree on a final set sometime in the next 5 hours. My only rule is no furshit.

I'm almost sure everything there works with everything else, at least until they decide do update de game again and break 70% of the mods while at it.
If something strange happen, the log is your friend, and leave a comment on the collection so i can remove the mod until they fix it.

Starbound is also my secret favorite game to mess around in, but unfortunately it seems that no one likes it.

I actually rarely touched science, and if I did I played robotics. But this never happened.

Is someone going to setup the server?

no :–DD

(Trips)
I will set it up when I come home from work.

(Trips)
I will set it up when I come home from work.

Alright, server is up boys.
The ip is "infinibound.info.tm"

Why waste your time and bandwidth? Why?

Because some retarded (1) asked while everyone else told him Starbound is shit, so clearly the
smart thing is to set up a server.

I have nothing better to do. If no one joins within a couple of hours, then I will shut it down and instead make a terraria server because it's a better game.

Alright, i forgot how bad this game is. I'm moving onto Terraria.

Took you 2 minutes and 10 seconds to figure that out.
Goddamn, must be some kind of record. Have you thought about making speedruns of terrible games?

Already have.

alright, made a better server. its in this thread though
