In case anyone already has played through Brutal Doom 64, how do you get to the secret area in the Omega Outpost?
Cooper Parker
I believe it's referencing a Japanese wad creatively named "Japanese Community Project "
Xavier Walker
Nvm, found it out myself
Right in the starting corridor, there is a hardware plate to the right with green glow around it. Activating it will open the door to the red key card
Logan Allen
Curious question. Does Star Wars: Dark Forces work with the Doom engine or it uses another one?
Noah Nelson
Jedi engine. It could do a lot of shit that was impossible to do with the Doom engine.
Christian Brooks
Might as well contribute this If you want to get into Doom and just want to see what kind of mods are available without downloading from different places use this archive. It's got GZDoom and Zandronum, and a batch script for each mod. You literally just double click, select Doom/Doom2 and bind your controls. Perfect if you're a lazy fuck. And don't give me the excuse that you're a Linux guy, just run the batch script in wineconsole and it'll work mega.nz/#!1IpAmRgJ!e2qM-N9sPyH6AO-W-_BADkb18MEwR4LP3ABps8jBL_w
Ian Ramirez
Sad, i was wondering why the game has very few mods for being a doom clone, the game is really good. Oh well.
Gabriel Anderson
Latest GZDoom builds crash upon playing certain mods due to a bug, ZDoom builds don't do this because they're already fixed. Also not everyone has the newest videocards to run OGL 3.0 which is still a ridiculeous requirement for simple lighting and shadow effects that not even the latest zdoom mapsets use.
Kevin Bailey
I tried to stick with Zandronum for every mod but some of them wouldn't work, and the devs listed that they require GZDoom. That's the only reason I have it in there. If ZDoom and GZDoom run the same mods it shouldn't be hard for me to make a new pack with ZDoom instead. If it's any help the current pack uses GZDoom 2.1.0
Adrian Gomez
I meant that you should include both GZDoom (latest devbuild) and ZDoom (latest devbuild) to the mix.
tfw no working port of doom for android that isn't behind a pay wall
Adrian Carter
Guy with the Doom modpack again, made a new version with updated engines and ZDoom as an option for the GZDoom games. Removed a few mods that don't work properly and added Project Brutality and a few extras for Reelism. mega.nz/#!wAokAaJT!YpGaczQn8QrkYu44PApz5rqSFRC6qoso14AXKxu99lE
Also some Italian band member used the Doom engine to make a masterpiece called Grezzo Due. It's in Italian, so you'll need an English patch if you can't read it. It's full of plagiarized mods, and is offensive enough that Twitch bans you if you stream it. It's like a shitpost in vidya form.
Gavin Ward
What's the "worst" Nintendo system that had this bad boy on it, SNES? GBC?
Gabriel Torres
Threadly reminder
Jack Bell
Why are you talking about Grezzo like its new?
Luis Reyes
Apparently Lucas Arts really tried to fuck their modding community over at every turn with the Dark Forces/Jedi Knight series up until Raven Software took over - it comes up in the leaked proof of Raising the Bar that goes into way more detail about Half-Life's modding scene, talking about how that was one of the things that set Half-Life as a base for mods out against Jedi Knight.
Dylan Sanchez
Come on, this is basic shit you can search for in google. Just use Fdroid instead of the play store to get it, it even comes with freedoom.
James Rogers
D-touch
its literally Zdoom mobile. you can access the menus and everything. it even thinks you're using a legit keyboard and all that shit.
Henry Adams
Any fantasy or melee focused wads or games from that era that aint Hexen, Shadow Warrior or Daggerfall? I wanna sword shit while going fast
Jaxon Price
Witchaven
Henry Bailey
LOL
Dominic Miller
I know of that one already, that's why I wrote "no working port." It cannot find wads on my phone, and it hasn't been updated since 2012. I tried pointing it to the was directly by editing the cfg, but that doesn't work either.
Closed source and behind Amazon's pay wall.
Ayden Morgan
So is Total Chaos out yet?
Lucas Evans
No
Zachary Fisher
It's referencing a project called A Boy and his Barrel, where Doomguy has to escort his waifu through a level.

Well that… that kinda looks like dogshit.

Camden Bailey
I'm making a .wad set in a fantasy world with goblins and orcs. I need weapon replacements though. Maybe you guys can make some? Things like swords, bows, crossbows, etc. etc. I've already got the monsters and levels all planned and some made.
Benjamin Scott
Playing Golden Souls, its pretty good.
Colton Russell
You've already looked at Realm667?
Kevin Hernandez
I don't quite like using resources from there.
Isaac Jackson
Never played doom online before. How would one get a session going for Project Brutality? Is it even possible to play that MP?
Isaiah Long
Why not? I've pillaged more than a few enemies for my mod, I just tend to completely rewrite the DECORATE for them.
Bentley James
It seems kind of lazy to be honest. I might take weapons sprites though, but I'd be severely limited: most Hexen/Heretic stuff both there and in general is magic, and I'm not letting the player use magic.
Juan Richardson
Lacking artistic talent or the time to make sprites isn't the same thing as lazy. You should check r667 to see if anything is good for what you're making.
Henry Jackson
There aren't many non-magical weapons on there for Raven games, which is what he wants. The Impaler & Iron Crossbows, and that's it.
Jackson Thompson

When is that "Looks better than modern games wad" coming out? You know, the one with the interface and the pick-ax?
I don't play doom much, but recently I played through going down on UV and really enjoyed getting my shit kicked in. How does sunlust compare in terms of difficultly?
still enjoying BD64. webm came out shitty but it took forever.
so… is he making gun fingers at an empty mars?
… weird. and yet the monsters are all still demons.
Noah Wilson
just google for the APK? its not hard. use Androzip to install. no boot required.
idk how you'd expect to play DooM on a phone then, dumbass.
Jackson Murphy
You mean right now, by about a few hours.
Jaxson Rodriguez
I was extremely sad when It ended. It doesn't even feel like a doom mod, it felt to me like STALKER: Criminal Origins, and the inventory and health sanity hunger etc system was brilliant.
Jonathan Reyes
Why are they allowed to torture me like this?
Anthony Watson
Ok then.
Landon Murphy
Going down is great, but 200 megahurts is probably the worst map tbh
Evan Lee
I've never been able to enjoy maps like that. BIG EMPTY ROOMS WITH SUPER STRONG DEMONS, BUT YOURE NEVER IN ACTUAL DANGER CAUSE BFG AND INVINCIBILITY!!!
like when people complained about DooM4's monster limit, I wasnt bothered at all. it felt hectic enough with 16 enemies, i dont need more.
Isaac Bennett
200 Megahurts is a troll map made to piss you off. I'm sure mouldy/Cyriak feels a bit guilty having made this.
Isaiah Wilson
The enemy limitation complaint is primarily leveled at the engine itself, and snapmap which is 12. That kind of limit is really pathetic, the average is about 24 and Bethesda's piece of shit for an engine it uses for Fallout and Elder Scrolls can handle 200+ enemies in the same cell although it'll bring the PC to a crawl if it's not good enough.
Blake Miller
DooM4's engine was good to me, and I prob glitched out 3 times tops, which is pretty normal in my 20 years of gaming
David Bailey
I didn't say anything about glitching or bugs, the engine has a hard limit of enemies allowed on a map that is pathetic and crippling for map making. In the single player it can be 16, but snapmap only allows 12. You have to funnel a steady supply of enemies via code, to have any semblance of feeling that there is more enemies then there is. And the engine still does not allow much flexibility in this regard, if you backtrack snapmap maps they're empty and the facade completely crumbles.
That's just terrible.
Cameron Foster
Ill just post this webm, isnt it 16 on snapmap too? Still a fucking disgrace but eh, nudoom is already starting to get forgotten
Cooper Reed
Double checking I'm confusing max spawn limit with max limit. Yes it's 16, but you can only spawn 12 at a time.
Isaiah Miller
fucking bump
Sebastian Reed
Well, I made a Faceball 2000 level recreation today, but I feel like the levels proportions in relation to Doomguy are off, and I need to rethink my textures for the level.
Lincoln Ramirez
Time to celebrate.
Noah Long
I actually don't mind these texture filters so much. It's just that certain monsters look kinda fucked up. Is there a way to edit sprites while viewing them through said filters?
Good goy.
Brandon Fisher
You could bind some filter effect in a photo editing program like Photoshop to a key and edit with the ability to quickly get a good idea of what the sprite would look like when filtered, although it doesn't account for viewing it from far away or up close.
Jacob Hughes
Anything wrong with Knee Deep in ZDoom, or was it the Brutal Doom of its time?
Jonathan Lewis
Reminds me slightly of Quake with all those boxes in a spaceport.
Also looks forgettable.
Robert Campbell
It's just barely average comparing to megawads released prior to it. It introduces a shitton of new features to the mapping scene and doesn't exploit them in gameplay terms to put the player in challenging situations or to give him alternative ways to approach a certain challenges but rather uses them for visual fidelity and aesthetics.
The sequel was worse, don't recommend it at all.
Bentley Reed
Watching videos of Doom snapmap is a strange experience, it motivates you to work harder on your maps, but also makes you wonder how bad Snapmap is. Definitely recommend it.
Gavin Adams
There actually was a sequel?
Isaac Baker
When did that happen? Doom wads are still far more flexible.
Benjamin Gutierrez
Alright, no more secret club bullshit. To anyone who plays DoomRL, how do I wield the Dragonslayer?
Grayson Rodriguez
Have you tried beating the Apostle on Nightmare! difficulty and having the Berzerk effect while picking it up? Because I don't know, either.
Dragonslayer and other melee weapons in Doom RLA when?
Carter Lopez
Does anyone have Trump Doom?
Luke Gonzalez
For some reason, I was expecting two dozen kleers to pop out.
Can any one recommend me some WADs in the style of Episode 1? Just good, focused and fast paced maps, not mazes, killingfests or ambush city
Xavier Cook
2002ADO is a good starting bet, try looking for other Doom 1 megawads or episodal wads. I'd recommend Icarus for Doom 2 too but that does have a few ambush arenas in certain maps, but it's otherwise pretty enjoyable.
Thomas Roberts
DemonSteele
Nathan Nelson
Have you tried Doom The Way id Did? It's practically a wad that emulates the mapping style of the first Doom. dtwid.herokuapp.com/
Landon Lewis
Didn't like it, it didn't play like id maps do. It just used the look.
Zachary Nguyen
Is there any Doom wads that are 200% American other than Trump Doom?
Gabriel Morgan
I wonder how Romero would react knowing this exists, knowing he's a full-on piece of shit now.
Jonathan Kelly
Any user played zBlud?
Lucas Brown
Link it to him, or a video of it. Tell him it's a brand new Doom mod he needs to see.
Jose Moore
If you're showing a video, don't use a youtube link. The thumbnail and title would show up automatically on twatter/kikebook and it would ruin the surprise.
Juan Robinson
I hope someone does. I'd love to see his reaction.
Brandon Adams
So, after Term's video on DoomShock, I've gotten the urge to play it, what are some mapsets to play it with that feel like SS1?
Julian Baker
It'd probably be good to play it with relatively simple/small maps that don't have a lot of enemies. The original Scythe, Demonfear, etc.
Jeremiah Phillips
I believe Doomguy's Warzone Platinum is coming out soon
Nicholas Jones
heh
Jayden Powell
Is there a mod for ZDoom which has proper bullet ballistic such as trajectory, accuracy and the like?
Jacob Watson
Anyone ever heard of the Tei Tenga Incident? it's a mod inspired by the original concepts from the DOOM bible by Tom Hall, it's unfinished but i wonder if the author is still working on it.
Sebastian Hall
Hating Romero now because he hates Trump is literally SJW-tier train of thought. I wish I could erase closet-commies like you from this earth with the sheer amount of contempt I have for degenerate rabble like you.
Jaxson Peterson
You missed what the guy meant. Romero is a piece of shit because he's whining that Trump lost. He doesn't like him? Okay fine, but being this ass blasted about it like that makes him a piece of shit.
Also Romero has been a piece of shit far longer than this. When Doom was being developed, he did almost fuck all. He made 3 or 4 maps for Doom 1, but then decided he needed to stroke his ego more so he made a list of "Mapping Rules" that kept referring to "Doing this when I want to do this". Romero is really immature, and it makes him extremely unlikable. He masks this by using his over inflated ego to shield him when things don't go his way.
tl;dr Romero a shit.
Lucas Sullivan
trump has no flaws, he literally said we'll be able to go around murdering gays, niggers, jews and mexicans the day he gets into the white house, he promised us. your a cuck faggot defeatist Holla Forums gay jew nigger illegal scum if you don't see that.
Caleb Jones
This, we will rip and tear. Please refrain from responding to "trump is a jew lover" and "you guys are just like SJWs". He is just going to keep spouting bullshit and derail the thread
Blake Hall
No, Romero is being a piece of shit because he's outright discarding and insulting those who voted for what he perceives to be the wrong candidate (and genuinely believes that candidate to be a "modern-day Hitler"), pretty much to the point that implies they're some kind of lesser person.
William Price
Hideous Destructor, though it's also a whole bag of shit because it's also meant to be as incredibly difficult as possible. As in: not only your equipment and damage is "realistic" in the sense that there's actual real projectile ballistics, simulation of weaponry failiures and the like, but so is the enemy's and a single zombieman can kill you in 3 shots, an Imp can set you on fire with a fireball which will kill you in short order and don't even think you can take a single 150mm ATHE rocket from a cyberdemon without exploding into gibs even with a soulsphere.
Thomas Johnson
So it has not settings at all to make it a bit less difficult? hmm alright, well I was already aware of this mod but I have never seen it mentioned how the bullet ballistic worked. Oh well not that it really matters much anyway as my main concern was if a improved bullet ballistic with Decorate is possible in the first place, thanks for your answer man.
Chase Price
That's exactly what Romero did. That's the problem. He won't even acknowledge people who voted for Trump. I understand people not liking him. It's not that he hates Trump, it's that he dismisses everyone who hates him.
Zachary Price
It does have settings to make it less difficult, such as to remove the bleeding/burning systems, encumbrance and making monsters deal less damage. But the difficulty comes from other reasons, mainly that it's actually hard to aim and shoot a gun if you don't have a proper plan on how to do so and that the enemy AI is souped up in the tactical sense of the word. As in: They know about the basics of suppression, encirlement and combined arms tactics to flank and are willing to shoot at you even after you went into cover to keep you from engaging enemies that are enclosing on your position, they are accurate and much faster in reactions than you are unless you take adrenaline (berserk) and most maps do not give you sufficient cover in most situations anyways.
But yeah, asides from that, all the weaponry in Hideous Destructor is pretty much realistic to the point of absurdity, and there's a 1200 yard range to test them out too.
Kevin Adams
Damn that is quite a lot of features, I should give a try soon enough, alone the advanced AI sounds highly interesting. As I have hardly seen any doom mods that improves that area.
1200 yards? Wew lad it sounds like even a vehicular combat would be possible since the author of Brutal doom made a "test demo" (or how it is correctly named) with 3 vehicles, when it is even designed for 1200 yard combat.
Jack Thompson
The link in the pastbin isn't working for me, where can I get the IWADS?
It's nuts, but the mod really works great with long-winded maps, as most weapons have some sort of integrated optics and there's even a bolt-action sniper rifle (although your shotgun works great as a pump action rifle in a pinch) that has an insanely ranged magnification scope.
However, not many maps are really good for it, and the few that there are, they don't really deal with long range engagements much. I recommend you try it out with MarsW301.wad (Mars Wars), eviltech.wad and TVR!.wad (The Revolution), as they're fairly easy mapsets in terms of difficulty and provide heaps of cover and alternate roads into rooms to flank enemy positions.
Charles Phillips
thanks man
Daniel Bailey
mah nigga, but I gotta try out eviltech.wad haven't heard that one before.
it's laughable that you think Romero has some enlightened view of Trump's shortcomings, he's mainstream "DRUMPF = HITLER, I'M WITH HER," scoring easy points with his crowd. Romero is a SJW and "my wife's son" cuck. Also holy fuck his Kickstarter project was an uninspired cash-in, even by Kickstarter standards.
Carson King
Literally
Asher Kelly
Alright thanks for the stuff.
Ayden Fisher
But if he's not a modern day Hitler, then why is Holla Forums so excited about him?
Liam Gonzalez
Baby steps.
Leo Rogers
Aight, but you have to understand that Romero is a mexicano with a strong entrepreneurial spirit. Trump is all about limiting the progress in the name of the greater good, limiting the american dream from those that are willing to take it and serving it to people that he thinks deserve it more.
And while I think he's a has-been washout who threw a childish tantrum with those comments, I do understand where he's coming from. Trump stands pretty much against everything the early Id Software was about.
Brayden Gray
The link to the original IWADs in this image is bunk. Seems it's been taken down or something. If anyone could share their doom2.wad with me it would be great. Mine seems to be stuffed, as I can play any other WAD (even ones using Doom2 as an IWAD) but every time I try to play Doom 2 it segfaults within a few minutes of starting.
Have a rare Ancap for your trouble.
Brayden Gonzalez
Look a few posts up.
Thomas Jenkins
That's a shit ancap, man.
It should've been:
Jayden Jackson
I didn't know Doom had an RTS. Am I a slowpoke?
Leo Turner
It's fairly recent and still a tech demo, apparently. There's also another Doom RTS in the Stratagus engine, which plays out like Starcraft 1 but it's kinda shit.
Sebastian Martinez
I just saw this on twitter today. Pretty disappointing, not because he's anti-Trump but because he wants to shut out anyone who simply voted for him. This reply was pretty good, though.
Jayden Hernandez
Here's the document for a speedmapping project I'm hosting.
Liam Hernandez
Someone should tweet him: "Trump won. Suck it down."
Connor Fisher
Fug, thanks.
Brevity is the soul of wit.
Luke Garcia
I bring you ancaps.
Isaac Smith
Whoa John, Cliffy B might get angry at you being slightly more relevant than he is.
Kayden Reyes
cool, when it is happening?
Brayden Thompson
lmao good luck with that, should've gone with something less shit for speedmapping
Blake Carter
...
Andrew Adams
Why didn't you post that text directly? Why don't you have doomforums, zdforums or similar post and link to that instead?
Carson Allen
Is it bad that I want to live in the world of the ancap smiley?
Daniel Gomez
Now.
It was originally going to be six days long, but some fags talked me down to two days.
Warp to map30, give yourself the firing glove. Noclip inside the Icon of Sin, and fire John's head. Record this all and tweet it to him. I would but I don't have a twitter account and I have no clue how you would go about making a video.
Nolan Powell
Im i just stupid or do the levels start later or something?
GZDoom has an IWAD selector, it's completely unnecessary to drag doom2.wad or any of the base game WAD files alongside mods.
And Doom the Way id Did is a Ultimate Doom WAD, not a Doom 2 WAD.
Adrian Jenkins
why are you dragging doom2.wad in gzdoom.exe? Shouldn't you just drag dtwid.wad and projectbrutality.pk3 only and have a menu to pick between doom1 and 2?
Joseph Scott
That's barely even speedmapping though (at least for any other less detail-required theme). This would work better as some kind of month-long map compilation.
Henry Ramirez
o yeah now it's telling me You cannot -file with the shareware version. Register!
Robert Morris
Fuck off Doomguy 2000, no one besides your circlejerk plays your wads unironically.
Isaiah Wilson
DOOM1.WAD is not DOOM.WAD, it's the shareware version.
Bentley Butler
well shit where can i find DOOM.WAD
Hunter Richardson
I posted a link in the thread not long ago, try using your head a little and scroll up.
Ryder Brown
ah thanks it works now and i see it also includes hexen, heretic and strife which i always wanted to play
Grayson Nguyen
The problem is that the Doom engine probably can't handle leaning, which is a crucial feature for this kind of hardcore tactical FPS.
Jaxon Evans
GZDoom can handle leaning in a very, very hacky way that prevents you from getting shot at all unless you place extra actors to where your "camera" should be, which doesn't help much against monsters that are programmed to shoot immediatly at anything non-friendly they see. It hasn't been implemented because A: Compatibility issues with ZDoom and B: It's a really badly hacked workaround for a feature that could trivialize every single mapset due to how Doom enemy AI actually works.
There's several workarounds to this, however. Like the DERP bot that's a little pistol on wheels with a camera that you can toss around corners for cover and fire support and the author actually managed to get some kind of wall-bang style projectile penetration system for thin walls, which is enabled by default in multiplayer deathmatch, that lets you shoot through most airlocks and corners with higher caliber weaponry (mainly 7.76 and 4.26 rifles only, with 4.26 rifle/chaingun having less of a chance to penetrate and dealing way less damage than normal compared to 7.76 battlerifle/marksman munitions).
And yes, this mod also has deathmatch, it's hilariously close to what Arma deathmatch would look like, only ten times more painful and in maps more cramped than COD's Nuketown unless you want to play in something like Ghouls vs Humans or ZDoomWars LMS mapsets.
James Bailey
What? If Zdoom can handle simulating the gun's physical space in front of the player, third person gameplay, and the myriad of other things mods have done with it, it can handle something as simple as leaning.
Julian Ross
GZDoom can handle titling and spinning the player's camera, but to actually "lean" you need to hack in a separate camera actor at the side of the player and tilt it correctly, which is an extremedly hacky way to do a simple thing and it ends up not correlating with the player's position and hitbox unless you add in extra actors that relay damage back to the player, which trivializes the point of leaning in the first place when you could just cut the corner instead or sidestep really slowly on it towards your target. There's also no way to properly show this action taking place to other players without new sprites, and even with those sprites the player's main hitbox would still remain the same.
Liam Rogers
Anyone got the /g archie wad? The drop box link from op doesn't work.
Nolan Russell

David Bell
Or do the speedmapping thing, but give people time to clear calendars, schedule it for weekend instead of "lmao, here's a speedmapping challenge for the middle of work week"

Christopher Bell
GZDoom.
Aaron Gutierrez
Are there any mods that just ad a bit more 'punch' to the sounds and animations?
I genuinely love stuff like Project Brutality because every weapon just feels so explosive. Are there any mods that keep the gameplay true to the original but just make things feel like they have a little extra kick?
Jason Cruz
I quite like Smooth Doom, but not everyone likes the smoother enemy animations
Hunter Lewis
Some people ported an actual functioning Mortal Kombat 2 Arcade Machine to the same engine and it supports multiplayer VS online, while 20 other people are playing regular doom coop IN THE SAME MAP. It's absolutely nuts what you can accomplish with it.
Aaron Ross
Throws are still not implemented, though. :^)
Blake Walker
...
Evan Perry
It's the sourceport of Doom, it has been upgraded and expanded for years. You can use console commands in the game to summon demons as proof if you still don't believe it. Just an FYI but make sure you have a proper graphics card, and not an OEM card pretending to be the real thing before using gzdoom because "legacy" graphics cards and some arcane inner workings of your OS can cause problems with gzdoom. Even if you have OpenGL 2.0 or 3.0 and the latest graphics card, gzdoom is very sensitive about the state of your OS and hardware.
Luis Collins
Little Timmy, Care to share with rest of the class on how these seven clever boys are 'clever devils'? Cause it seems like you think you know more than the rest of the class, thinking how you know exactly how they made the stroke n' cum menus.

God, Doom64's chaingun so sexy.
Lincoln Gray
it is sexy. and eats all your ammo quickly.
finished BD64 campaign, I need MORE. is anyone working on BD64 maps? are there map packs that play well with it?
It's a very elaborate version of the rarely used custom menu hack that you have probably never heard about as it takes a lot of work to implement and doesn't pause the game so in most scenarios it isn't worth jack
Tyler Green
I just realized why i liked going down a lot more than the original doom maps Because i don't get lost for long periods of time in going down When I clearly remember running back and forth through the same level long after every enemy just to try to find where to go Can anyone recommend me some more going down like map packs?
Jace Davis
Yeah that's a pretty funny reply, getting mad that a game developer doesn't want to be friends with him is really pathetic.
Jeremiah Parker
hoplophiles get out
Mason Campbell
I want to play Doom, but I don't even know where to start. What's the most popular way of playing doom? DOSbox? what are some good wads? Or should I play the vanilla first? How do I even use wads? Are the wads made by the Columbine guys any good? I played it a couple of times but never went further because I always forget about it, but I kind of need it now. I'm burned out of Serious Sam, and although it was really nice, I still need to feel that fucking rush of adrenaline while dodging everything that is thrown at me while also killing the thing that throw it. *I realize most of my answers are probably in the OP, but I redacted this as an OP, so I'm using it anyway**

I watched the nudoom's storyline out of curiosity.
It's literary Event Horizon. And those niggers keep boasting it like the best shit ever. Also there is some shit about nudoomguy being some kind of great warrior of an ancient race which completely defies what Doomguy should be, as the whole point of Doomguy's character is that he is supposed to be a completely normal human who can defeat demons just by being a badass
Gavin Collins
Who cares?
Nicholas Evans
I hate how they try to pull the "take us seriously but don't really" shit. The whole game is really self-fellating.
Ian Davis
I quit and uninstalled that garbage after reaching hell.
Robert Hernandez
I admit I've never beaten Doom completely, just like Duke or any of the other shareware games. Just the first few levels or scenarios given.
I still immensely enjoyed what there was.
Hudson Wilson
...
Carson Thomas
...
Cameron Powell
Already? I haven't even gotten a chance to play the first release, yet.
Jaxon Hall
If you haven't beaten Doom 2, don't worry about it, you're not missing much. Great set of weapons and enemies, terrible maps.
Camden Stewart
Chocolate Doom? PrBoom+?
Brody Brooks
Does it feature anything from 64?
Henry Fisher
Did you actually watch the trailer?
Asher Reyes
I remember seeing another trailer and i thought it was that one because of the thumbnail, sorry
Jose Peterson
The shareware levels are in my opinion the best the game has, but you'd be doing yourself a disservice by not playing at least The Shores of Hell and Inferno.
Doom 2 gets pretty bad in the level department after the initial starport levels, but the enemy variety makes up for it a bit. I'd highly suggest a community megawad that can really make them shine though. I personally suggest Back to Saturn X and Jenesis.
Justin Martin
It features a little bit of everything from all the official Doom games. Even the mobile RPG ones.
Thomas Miller
I also wonder if someone would recreate TF2 maps (official or community like the Mario Kart ones) to DOOM or make spiritual successors out of them, just a though.
Logan Jenkins
the fuck?
Evan Hall
Interesting concept, doubt it would work. Maybe the cart mode could work with extensive ZDoom techniques. Enjoy your MM8DM, Brutal Server, and Brasil.
Caleb Robinson
How is regular old Doom deathmach? Especially deathmatch without the super shotgun, since I hear it turns into jousting matches. It seems pretty interesting but I've never played it before and judging from the list of servers online, I probably won't get a real chance to play it for a while.
Liam Miller

Xavier Davis
Well, there's actually a Team Fortress mod for Doom. Unfinished, buggy, and probably won't even run the current builds of Zandronum, but hey, at least there's one. moddb.com/mods/doom-fortress
I think it's okay. Not too serious, like to think it's what happened to D64's Doomguy after he was left in Hell to fight endlessly.
Samuel Hayden is kinda cool character design as well.
What I think is nuDoom's biggest aesthetic problem is that it's basically the negative space of Doom 3. It has what Doom 3 lacked, but lacks everything Doom 3 had. In a way, those two are the separated essence of original Doom for me.
Carson Edwards
...
Cooper Lee
That would have been better than the story the devs tried to dump into nuDoom. Also, fuck Doom 3 RoE was acceptable and fuck nuDoom.
Mason Turner
64 ending is best
Michael Fisher
That ending also made DOOM canon.
Kinda neat.
Nicholas Long
You can probably get through all of Doom 1 in an afternoon. Give it a go.
Dominic Gonzalez
So HDoom is actually all the demon babes whoring themselves out to him to fulfill his physical needs in a desperate attempt to gain his favor and mercy.

oh come the fuck on, this isn't a 1986 nes game!

Recommend wads for a casul who liked Golden Souls.
Brandon Taylor
The Golden Souls is casual?
Shit, I find myself at a loss for ammo in that wad.
Jeremiah Wood
No, I meant I'm casual who happened to like Golden Souls.
Nicholas Brooks
Reelism if you liked the wacky visuals of Golden Souls.
Landon Evans
Well, it didn't hurt that it wasn't just gloomy hellscapes and technofacilities, but I really liked the map design.
Samuel Cooper
That better be Doom WADs, nigger.
Lincoln Walker
Try this. It's supposed to be a remake of a shitty Doom clone.
Owen Wright
That's the /idgames archive, AKA the entirety of the doom community's chestbox of wads through all these years.
Jace Mitchell
Wow, I would have expected it to be at least a TB.
Jaxson Reed
They actually care about their filesizes and quality control to some extent, and that's mostly only mapsets. A ton of modifications like zdoom .pk3s have yet to get into the archive.
Angel Hall
Your typical 32 level megawad is about 7 to 15 megabytes big and the majority of wads in the archive is like one or two levels, no custom graphics and often no midis either. That's not even in the 500 kilobytes range. Also they all come in compressed formats so there's that too.
Brody Collins
Never liked how D64 had the realistic type artsyle.
Jacob Russell
I didn't either
but I'm surprised how well I like it in BD64…though, the caco, PE, and revenant sprites are hideous
Adrian Cox
Some day it will be that big. Maps keep getting made, because despite their being possibly over a million Doom maps, there's still nigh endless possible designs. I think the source port devs should work on adding new mapping features, and making things like 3D floors and slopes more efficient and easier to work with.
Oliver Davis
*despite there
Grayson Scott
So this is still being worked on.
Matthew Parker
Didn't this guy try to submit Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold faces for Freedoom?
Jace Martinez
And the Bombshell is still being developed as well. The pic on the right is the PLAYPAL they're working with.
the SNES version of Doom was pretty fucking bad. the framerate was truly awful
Angel Nelson
I didn't realize Bombshell was it's name, I figure it was just a descriptive word. Sorry.

Bobby Prince AKA the composer for Doom 1/2, Duke 3D, Wolf 3D, and more has colon cancer. There's a fundraiser on gofundme for the medical expenses, right now it's short 1k$ from the goal. Here's the link if anyone wants to give shekels: gofundme.com/bobby-prince-medical-fund-2vs94pg

On PS2 it had online play. So many many fucking years after its release I started multiplayer online on accident. And 1 dude was online too, probably waiting for months or years even because we played for 2 days straight without one of us disconnecting.

I remember reading the reviews back then. It was a 6 or 7 /10 game most of the time.

Why is Zandronum such unoptimized trash? GZdoom is so smooth by comparison.
better dead than red bitch
Leo Bell
I'm pretty sure Zandronum is based on an earlier version of Zdoom.
Cameron Powell
(checked) It would be real neat that they have a proper 3D Map format instead of this hackfest that is right now, and perhaps a good GZDoomBuilder linux port.

90% of the time the people who say this either never had to experience socialized medicine first hand, or are such an uptight leftist that they'll block the experience out of their mind in order to retain a smug sense of superiority.
Ayden Stewart
I don't know why you would think something like this First of all there is no logical reason for socialized medicine to be worse than privatized medicine unless you are paying way more for one or the other In fact logically speaking social medicine should be better quality for the patients. Since any business should always put money first they have all the incentive in the world to cut corners wherever it might save money which includes patient care and such. Whereas social healthcare is incentivized to put patients first Secondly I have experienced socialized medicine first hand since i've lived in Europe my entire life and I don't what to tell you it's not bad. Also I don't consider myself a leftist but then again I think we all know things like leftist are pretty meaningless
Xavier Hall
Dumbfuckistanian, pls. Social medicine is more limited than private in some sense, but usually the positives outweight the negatives by far. Like not having to pay ten year's worth of wage-slavery if you just happen to get sick at the wrong time.
Jordan Moore
Businesses are incentivized to provide good service in order to remain competitive in a free market. That means ruthless efficiency in order to provide the cheapest prices, or splurging on features in order to compete with others for the best service available. Socialized systems have the expectation of good service, but no direct incentive to provide it or to be efficient in form or function. This isn't completely clear cut, and right now the US has the worst of both worlds with state limits allowing for regional monopolies with a captive market. Secondly, socialized medicine can work quite well in a small, unified european nation. In a multicultural, divided, disparate and distant nation like the US, no way. In that environment like that, people die in the waiting room, people die of their disease they get their appointment with a specialist, and people wait months and months just to get a misdiagnosis due to some communications error or shoddy machine standards.
I live in Canada, douchebag. Socialized medicine hasn't fucking killed me, but it drives me up the wall when ideagogs and dumbasses act like it's some nirvana solution without any caveats. People that don't have a hint of regard for the actual logistics and political/economic realities of implementing socialized medicine that is in any way effective, particularly for the United States.
Daniel Evans
May I also note that in Canada most people with the money go to the US for specialized treatment or specialized medical procedures, with cancer among them, because the socialized system cannot provide for them in a timely fashion or with the specific support that they need. Breaking the theory that socialized medicine should always provide the better service for patients, or just because it's a business they're going to cut all corners on service and give you a blood transfusion of water and red food colouring or something.
Kayden Ward
The biggest issue I think is that $15 for 9 levels, quite frankly, is a rip off. The boss fights aren't interesting either. There isn't much variety either.
Brad was told many times that he had to offer more content gameplay wise. When told this, he would make excuses. He said he wasn't going to add Multiplayer support because it would add years to development time, which isn't true, it would have set him back maybe 6 months to get it working right enough for an initial release.
Another big thing was that he dragged his feet many times in development. There was one point where he got super depressed and a group of people had to slowly convince him over a few months to get back on the horse. Even after getting back into it, he dragged out development far too long. He pushed the release date back several times, and by that point, most people weren't interested.
He also spent money on some pretty stupid things like a VBForum at one point despite a number of people telling him about the vulnerabilities in VBF.
The only thing impressive about the Wrack engine is that it natively supported 21:9 when 21:9 was barely a thing yet. At least, that's what I recall, I might be wrong on that.
I could go on about the problems with Wrack, but they're pretty well known. I do wish Brad all the best in his next project because I do think he has potential.
What's the deal with ZScript? There's barely information on it.
Aiden Barnes
the issue is that medicine isn't a regular business like furniture or something The fundamental difference is that people don't really want healthcare it's a necessity but if you need it you are not happy about it. When you get seriously ill in most cases you won't go browsing hospitals you will simply go to the nearest one and hope you get fixed as soon as possible (notable exceptions being certain long term diseases that require special care like certain types of cancer) This more or less breaks the whole free market model in an even worse way than a monopoly does i think.
Of course if you are willing to pay a lot of money you are gonna get better treatment this is a matter of much the government chooses to invest in healthcare which is definitely a concern. but if you are rich enough to go to america for special treatment i don't think you really need to worry about socialized healthcare, there will always be private clinics just for rich people The reason you don't have those kind of things everywhere in canada is probably cause there aren't enough people to sustain to many of those businesses
Thomas Martinez
I know this isn't Doom but what's the recommended sourceport for Quake nowadays?

I live in a place with public healthcare too, no it isn't. You are put on a waiting room regardless of the state of yourself, and you're made to wait even on the brink of death and the Nurses are cunts every step of the way. The only time I have had good public healthcare was when I was in a small town. The best healthcare I've ever received in my own country was the stuff not covered by public healthcare like dental and I paid for that out of my own pocket they did not cut corners anywhere.
Your lack of even mentioning the insurance industry speaks volumes of how little you understand where the money comes and goes in healthcare and why private healthcare bloats to ridiculous expense.
Logan Thompson
You know, this game ain't that bad for post-Halo shooter.
Alexander Wright
But is it cracked yet? If not then it doesn't matter because bethesda can rot.
Juan Thomas
It is cracked, pretty big filesize though. Its shit.
Landon Scott

Jayden Thomas

Michael Rogers
70+
And it's not that shit. Better than Half-Lifes. Somewhere around Serious Sam and Bulletstorm.
Justin Nguyen
Nah it's pretty shit. At least SS managed to get expansive arenas and secrets to look forth in their levels and bulletstorm actually had fun weapons along with somewhat interesting enemies, this has neither. Nevermind weapon feedback was such complete shit as well, unlike the previous two games mentioned.
Glory kills are kinda shit, but I do understand that they are trying to break the cover-peek-a-boo routine with it. With the powerup that makes them happen faster, they are hardly an issue.
As for railroading, it's actually one of the least railroaded linear shooters in some levels that I've played in a while. Some maps have the regular bullshit: corridors and one-way gates.
Have you even played the game?
Justin Fisher
Doom and Serious Sam both did that fine without glory-kills.
William James
By casualizing everything? What's the point of making a doom game if the main subject – the lack of cover-shooting faggotry, is just dumbed down to a lack of weapon pickups, player speed, enemy variety and number?
They could have literally copied Doom 2, with all their designs, gave it a Doom 3 esque paint on it and kept the gameplay without fucking around with it, but they certainly can't do the simplest fucking thing in the world because executives. They think that simple to learn but hard to master = too difficult for modern audiences and thus feel the need to copy something like Halo, with cutscene melee kills, and enemies being goddamn piñatas for pickups.
Landon Harris
Prettier graphics = less active enemies = bigger healthpools
Also, 44, you are a fucking retard who equals arbitrary design patterns with "casuality". There are plenty of games with health-pinata systems that are way more demanding and deeper games than any fps in existence. And the cutscenes kinda work. When you have enemies that are few but strong, you the fights become a bit more like duels. The point where the enemy staggers is an opportunity that shifts the player's goals and if you execute it kinda gives a sensation of victory. Glory-killing becomes a natural element in the game's pacing, like weapon reloading in games that have that.
The actual issue that rises from this design, the one that I can't remember being mentioned is that more dynamic enemies throw enemy placements kinda out of window. ten seconds in a fight and everybody is all over the room. I actually started missing monster closets and more stationary enemies when playing this game.
I also miss hitscanners. I don't feel like I have to prioritize much when playing the game.
Andrew Nguyen
Christ I'd rather take the BD vs purist shit at this point. I want to say I didn't care about it previously because it wasn't an outright terrible game and didn't retroactively ruin Doom or anything but it's sure impacting Doom discussion, and not in a fucking good way.
Adrian Hall
We have shit-flinging about political issues, porn and developer personality meta, but nuDoom is where you draw the line?
Jonathan Watson
I feel like making the enemies ragdoll makes the weapons feel far less effective, although Romero did say they used all the same damage values and such from the original.
Justin Mitchell
I don't know mate, sometimes it's fun to see how a fag tries to be apologectic and attempts to rationalize how a multimillion dollar AAA product, that possibly costed him 60+bux upfront and preordered it, can be shittier than a game done by 4 dudes and their friends in a basement, even when the game in question is supposed to be a sequel/remake/reboot/whateverthefucktheywantocallit of the original.
Jose Kelly
Todex draws technically impressive art but it's always so fucking unattractive.

I think the stagger animations work pretty well. And I do remember seeing pretty convincting animation where I blew off a Hell Knight's arm off, it grabbed the shoulder and collapsed while writhing. It's not direct ragdoll switch for most enemies. Also, I think you can blind enemies in the game. Cacos close their eye if you damage it enough, and I've seen revenants having odd habit of shooting my previous locations once in a while.
Even if I do remember couple times some odd behaviour, a favorite being a possessed scientist that just stood for a second after dying and then jumped into air.
