For the refund it could be argued that the product is defective because a feature doesn't work (being able to play online with others), but in this instance it's not for servers being down but no one playing. As for not playing on 10, when alternatives exist should be pretty fucking obvious. No one is moving to 10 for the multiplats.

If these publisbing corporations had any sense then instead of releasing the same title once a year (which normalfags eventually wise up to and get sick of), they would just make four or five battlefield/titanfall/cod clones with different characters, settings and perhaps some kind of gimmick mechanic for each one, and then release one of those every year. While it's always an impossible battle to continually increase your rate of profit year to year, this would be better for them than the current trend.

There is no confirmed answer, but the common thought is that software written like shit would check the OS version string for "Windows 9" to see if it was running on 95 or 98 (ie. pre-NT Windows), and MS didn't want to cause issues with badly-written legacy software.
The Microsoft public answer is that they wanted to make it very clear that it was a jump in technology, so they skipped a version to showcase that.
In reality, Vista was Windows 6.0, 7 was 6.1, 8 was 6.2, 8.1 was 6.3, and 10 is 6.4. These are the actual internal version numbers (I have no fucking idea why they didn't increment to 7 with Windows 7, but who the fuck knows). The most likely answer is that it was just because 10 sounded like a sleeker number than 9, and 9 could possibly make people think of 95 and 98, making an association with Windows as an old, deprecated operating system.
The important thing to remember is that no matter what anybody says, there is no official answer, and nothing has actually been fully confirmed. Even MS employees don't know exactly why, and it really demonstrates everything there is to know about MS. I think you (as a dev) can go as hard or as soft into Steam matchmaking as you like. I mean, I think you can buy and run GTA:V without Steam, but you have to connect and be matched through the Rockstar Social Club.

If anything bugs me, it's that. Even moreso, CoD4 still looks beautiful at nearly 10 years on. And I can still top a server in MP, although I get fatigued with it fast. Same thing with games like CS1.6, I can only play for 30 minutes or so.
I don't understand why they remastered MW1 and its multiplayer mode. Separating the playerbase is always bad, this (IW's season pass and a second full CoD multiplayer mode) is just crazy.

They made some additions to the campaign such as giving us the explosive training and obstacle course segments of the F.N.G. mission we never got and the multiplayer plays just like the original with all the original gamemodes and some new ones like Kill Confirmed
If you're on PC, then don't even bother. Multiplayer uses Peer to Peer matchmaking even though the original had a server browser and mod support. If you wanna play CoD 4 on PC, just get the original. It has a lot of great mods and custom maps, and has a big playerbase despite being a 9 year old game.
