At a certain point, you got to learn that arguing the case isn't going to work.
Yeah, this new Doom is a bit slower than the original but now you can jump, have some limited climbing, oh and you have the burden of aiming.
Glory kills exist to keep you aggressive. There actually aren't very many ammo and health pickups just laying around so you have to somewhat rely on glory kills to keep you going.
Yeah well that's going to exist in any modern game these days. Its just a sad result of hardware and software limitations. To get around these limitations what is done and you'll see it in most games is that the enemies magically disappear after being killed (cleaning up the object count) and in this Doom's case they spawn more enemies almost immediately after you've killed one. Keeping the enemy count up. With that said, i'll bet you can have different limits depending on the enemy types your spawning. The original Doom can get away with spawning a bajillion things because its spawning shitty little 2D sprites that have like 5 frames of total animation.
As for the weapons look and feel? I don't know…I can't really say anything much about that because its not something I really ever notice. Each weapon has its uses and I would go so far to say some are better at dispatching certain enemies than others. But all of that is moot because that fucking double barrel shotgun is OP so that tends to get the most use until your ammo is out and then its on to other things.
People also seem to be forgetting that the weapons have secondary fire modes which adds variety on why you want to use a certain weapon over another.
There's also the runes and such which give you other sorts of bonuses, there's one that makes you super fucking fast after you do a glory kill.

I would also like to point out that what I keep seeing in webms posted is people apparently playing on normal or easy difficulty. When I played, I put it on the hardest (that doesn't end the game when I die) I could out of the box. Those monsters are aggressive and they hurt you bad.

But yeah, that's really all that can be said in the defense of the latest Doom other than it was fun and refreshing to play given all these super serious let me pretend i'm actually in the military in real life type of shooter games lately.
I mean fuck, Duke Nukem's revival failed and so they decided to just toss out the old game again.

Good design in games often equates to lots of fun and such things will stay boiled to the surface. The problem isn't so much the fact it's limited but that it shows a lack of care for detail in the company creating the game, if you're making a game that is supposed to be "action-packed" and, like a lot of people like to use when describing nu-doom, "brutal", then you really need to optimize at least the combat parts of the game, but time and care is spent less in making a game that plays better and more in making a game that LOOKS better.

The other issue you had with Doom crating shitt little 2D sprites, that's not impressive by the current standards, but it did so at a time when you had to make every line of code worth it if you wanted to have an impressive game.
