My guess is they're trying to pull a Zenimax and forcibly buy Respawn after ensuring Titanfall 2 will tank due to overshadowing by the competition.
It's a shame. I saw a bit of Titanfall 2 a while ago and the grapple hook they added looks really cool. If they let everybody use it instead of making it a perk and removed the cooldown, then I might actually consider buying it. (Of course, they'd have to get rid of Origin as well, but they'll never do that.)
