another youtuber/twitch bait shock and awe horror game? Color me very unimpressed.

holy fuck

Why the fuck are these threads being shitposted so hard, and both the other threads were deleted instead of just one of them?

About fucking time they announced something

I don't know, I haven't been on Holla Forums at all today before posting this thread.

All I remember is seeing two vids about this and neither of them showed any gameplay. Is there any gameplay or is that thing hes holding just for scanning shit and/or disrupt a robot for a tiny amount of time

About fucking time, goddamn

One trailer actually shows gameplay. It's the one where you arrive at the train station and the broken computer voice keeps talking about tasty space food or whatever.

The only other thing we know is that the game is partially procedurally generated.

why

Oh shit this alive? Anton and coolpecker devs could learn how to work on a game from this by actually working on shit.

laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaame

Because familiarity is the easiest way to break the spooky of a horror game.

From what little they explained, the layout of the station is always the same, what changes is which doors are locked as well as the location of keys, resources and threats.

I think they maybe figured Soma was going to overshadow them so they may as well wait a while until it's not so fresh in people's minds. Cause both games looked really fucking similar (Alien Isolation as well) and are part of the same niche, no reason to compete by releasing at the same time.

Mark is retarded. What else is new?

Nice.
I remember reading about it a year or so ago and assumed it to be dead in the water since there were no updates whatsoever to be found.

After knowing what kind of game Soma turned out to be I think it would've overshadowed it in the end.

From memory, it's the encounters/events that were procedural. You won't face the same challenges if you die and retry.

The Reddit-Youtube Complex loved Soma as far as I can tell.

But seriously, Lunar Software is 3 people. Frictional is twice/thrice that, and Creative Assembly is one of SEGA's main studios. Considering the ambitious goals they set from themselves, I'm surprised this wasn't vaporware in the end. Honestly, I think they announced it way too early in development(see also: Deus Ex: HR).

It did overshadow Routine, with the normalfag crowd at least, those faggots go apeshit for Frictional's garbage. They made a good call laying low for a while.

I thought this was DOA because the devs were so disheartened that the highly mediocre Alient game stole their thunder. Glad to see it isn't though and I really hope they learn from godawful SOMA and Alien

Crushing disappointment in 3…2…1…

I'm only getting hyped for figuring out the DEEP LORE

I'm disappointed they showed the monster or whatever thing in the fucking release date trailer. But to be honest. How can one make a good space horror game? These kinds of games require having a really good story. I enjoyed Amnesia, Soma, Outlast (in increasing order) although they had some stupid casualized levels, for the most part they wwere good spooky-monster runners.

Would you put guns in the game? Hide mechanics?

make it dead space but better

I think the gun in this one is going to be very underpowered and will only slow down the spookbots

give me a good horror shooter SHOOTER S.H.O.O.T.E.R before hide mechanics any day of the week
and no fucking breathing noises either

...

just saw the gameplay trailer, just a bunch of aimless wandering. whats the point of of this again?

What does hitler have to do with this thread? Go away

They aren't even trying to entice you with an interesting story or anything. They are just showing you how spooky the robot will be when it's chasing you through long hallways where you hold W.

Atmosphere and good sound design. Also, instead of making hide and seek simulators take some clues from Silent Hill and Resident Evil 4. Those two games did a masterful job of keeping player tension up.

Silent Hill used the fog to limit your vision and the radio to warn you of enemies nearby, while RE4, though not horror, used a claustrophobic camera that cut off much of your peripheral vision, forced you to stand your ground when shooting and featured AI that tried to encircle you to make each combat section tense.

Most horror games try to emulate movies more than they try to use the interactivity of the medium to enhance the horror.

To be fair, the game is about avoidance of enemies. Problem is, you need passwords, files and keys, and you can only load those up on your "gun" at mainframes. The process of uploading is slow and loud, forcing you to stay in place until it is done.

There was one previous gameplay trailer showcasing some of these mechanics and it was pretty spooky.

makes sense

true

Fuck off.

Gives a similar vibe to dead space, looks like it might be good

I always thought it looked like movie Moon, only with homicidal robots and whatever the fuck the thing at the end was after your ass.

Horror stealth=slow gameplay
Slow gameplay=less need for maps to be implemented

Now all we need is a release date for pic related.

I heavily doubt that the robot is the main monster. A gameplay trailer a few years ago showed some sort of sewage monster, so i guess, there will be more than just one type of enemy. Maybe it will go the same route as alien isolation with it´s working joes and the aliens.

Let's assemble all we know, what is in your opinion the best case scenario and the worse case scenario?

FUCKING YES

I didn't stop believing. Just hope it isn't instakill when the robots get you. Then again, it would make sense for them to OHK you if you don't weaken them.

Is there any other horror game that has use procedural generation? Because this (minimal) usage sounds cool.

I'm surprised no one has attempted to make another survival horror game like the Sega Saturn title Deep Fear and it's "limited oxygen per room" affecting your movement options and firearm usage. You could apply this from that settings underwater base to a grounded space base (or orbiting space station). Here's a wiki quote about.

The Big Table's (underwater base) oxygen supply is dwindling. Therefore, one necessity for survival is to refill low oxygenated areas and thus avoid asphyxiation. Overuse of firearms depletes the oxygen more quickly. In some areas, oxygens can be replenished (an unlimited number of times) by finding yellow oxygen boxes known as Air Systems (AS). When the player has a regulator, an AS allows him to refill it. If the player is not using the oxygen level indicator, a red emergency light will indicate a low oxygen level. Low oxygen level rooms will appear in red on the player's map. Oxygen grenades can be used to replenish low oxygen level rooms or hallways.

If the player is not near an AS or lacks oxygen grenades, they can use a regulator to breathe in low oxygen areas and in flooded areas. Each room entrance has two doors with a vacuum system between them; this ensures that a flooded room will not leak outside the room.

Some of the PS1 Resident Evil games, maybe. RE3, definitely. It had random enemy spawns/layouts in some parts.

looks like shit though

We need more smug anime hitlers to perfectly antagonize the liberals.

Source on this semen demon?
Reverse image search isnt finding shit.
isnt this smug slut from space, and doesnt she wear chicken related attire?

But like seriously isn't this just SOMA in space? Robots and big isolated research bases. Was this game like a creative branch-off?

MODS MODS BAN THIS UNDERAGE

FUCKING FINALLY

I've been looking forward to this game ever since they did a Q&A on 4chan years ago.

...

...

17 years.

Fuck yeah, thanks a bunch user.

lotta good porn on dumblr, nigger

There was also an 80's OVA that I believe had some alien rape in it.

just a few more months

Alien:Isolation was pretty satisfying tbh.

no it doesnt, i think, cant remember

The aesthetic was perfect in Isolation, and for the most part the lighting, music, ambience is top tier.

But the story, gameplay, plot itself acts counter to all of this after the first few encounters with the alien. The problem with these hide/run horror adventure games is that they are too long. Now imagine Isolation as a two hour game with a much lower price point. The impact would've been insane and it could have been one of all time greats. Instead, the game is so long that there are two fucking false endings, not one but two, and the game just keeps fucking going and going and going on and on.

It actually makes me sad because it had so much potential.

hi reddit

SCIENCE WENT TOO FAR, YOU ARE PLAYING GODO

disable the alien from spawning, much better

lel

How many fucking times are you going to play it/how fucking small will a playthrough be? Procedural generation is lazy cancer.

Absolutism is the real cancer.

Hmm? What does it do, removes Alien completely or just brings it up in certain key points?

WHEN WILL THIS MEME DIE

Wait, you can stop the alien from spawning and just walk around? I’d love to explore these worlds without “BOO DID I SCARE YOU FAGGOT LOL” “gameplay” elements.

All I found was some guy on Steam made a

Good for them, figured it would just lay there abandoned.

I'd forgotten about routine, hope they make the release schedule and don't get delayed too mcuh.

Never ever.

Also for all the turd newfags in the thread I am pretty sure this game was announced and in development first before alien isolation and soma.
