I disagree, Crash games on PS1 are still fun. The problem though is we getting a "remaster" instead of new games, Naughty Dog is a shadow of its former self only making basic shooters, and I dont even know whos making the Crash remakes, it could end up terribly.

The "mascot" defines the game, it's what makes it a series and not some random new game.

Nobody would give a fuck if they made new characters for this shit, but instead they decided to take a game series that we all love, butcher it to hell, and tell us that this is what it is now.

Crash aged horribly. So did spyro. When spyro came out it was a 6.5 to boot. You just like the mascots. Probably autism.

Never got into Crash, so I can't comment, but the original Spyro trilogy holds up fine. Low res graphics can still look good even today with a good art style and Spyro definitely had that. The core gameplay is solid, and the levels well designed. It also helps that the games have a lot of charm and personality.

Nor was it meant as one. It's a fact, mascots are the face of the game and you'll remenber all the levels and the gameplay attached to the character.

It's an icon. It has meaning and history behind it. Show someone a random enemy or piece of a level and maybe they won't remenber, show them the character and they'll know.
Considering a lot of people have fond memories of those games, showing the mascots is was enough to invoke those feelings back.

Maybe the first and second ones since they are a bit too hardcore for today's audience. Lose once after you got a checkpoint? Better restart the game buddy if you want them gems.

Warped however is still a pretty nice game, good art assets, level variety, different mechanics to it and even gimmick levels at a good pace to keep the game fresh.

Spyro however still manages to be quite even with the first game. I still love Tree Tops for going fast and flying around, one of the best levels in the game, and many of the bosses are still funny.

Crash 2 and 3, as wall as the original Spyros hold up fine. The only problem with Crash 1 is the scarcity of save points.

If nintendo can do it then why not Sony? :^)
