Titanfall 1 had all male titan OS voices until an update far after release. It was more "my best friend is my titan" feel than waifubots.
Having good aim and reflexes helps as well as using effective loadouts. The huge thing you should be focusing on though is being agile and mobile. Wall running is faster than "sprinting", chain wall runs and use slide hoping to keep momentum and "dance" around enemies. If you master movement, you won't be able to get hit.
Video is a good example of keeping speed in relation to wall runs, skip to the end for the current WR.

The Ai system has a voice added to it that would talk to you while the Titan was in the field. Voice was a guy.
