nah, you're good. don't rush it. the last thing you want to do is be a noob at 60 because you FATE'd or DD'd your way up and didn't learn how to [JOB].

once you hit 60, you get an increased xp bonus for each class not already at 60, so hitting 60 on one class first helps, with the exception of taking some time out to try some other stuff so you don't get burnt out, and taking the time to level your sub-classes to make sure you've got necessary skills (i.e. if you wanna do BRD get LNC to 34 for B4B and PGL to at least 15, ideally higher so you get Mantra).

I'm kinda bored of Thamaturge after finishing its questline, but it's my only class I've actually trained. Should I just stick with it or are there better classes to enjoy? I kinda want to go healer or tank just because the queue times are atrocious when trying to do a dungeon, but a different DPS would be okay too.

If you're going to try a tank I'd recommend marauder simply because gladiator is boring as hell and doesn't get its tank stance until 40, which is way later than the former option. I can't speak much for healers but if you want another dps option I'd say try out summoner since you already have swiftcast, which is really nice later on.

you do a questline together and then get wedding rings you can use to teleport to each other, its free but with premium options that include added shit like a 2seater mount and frillier wedding dress/suit

Well you also have to bare in mind its not WoW so chasing on raid instance treadmill for a year isnt the norm so a lot less players are even chasing a particular weapon when a DD or hyperconductive is insanely easy to get now. There just insnt a massive userbase chasing progression like lfr purple fever. That means you have a much smaller group to search for teammates with.

I was in a farm party for it last night and they did not have the DPS to skip the add phase.

You can go from 50 to 60 in about eight hours in palace of the dead.

nope, farmed ravana and got 3 weapons for it before alexander was even released.

I went all the way for the potsherds.. if you don't care about getting the weapons you can stay at 30/30 and burn through the floors. My fastest run was 12m with a group of 3 blm and 1 drk on 41-50.

I'd always been told 1-10 was for bag farming and 1-20 was for leveling. 30-50 opens up the possibility to wipe.

out of 87 complete runs, i've only wiped 5 times on a floor, and it was usually 11-20 when people dragged those exploding slimes around. The exp you get scales with the floor level.. you'll get a bit with 1-10, and a ton from completing 41-50.

But if you wiped that run wouldn't count as complete though.

only the floor gets reset.. if you wipe on 41-50 you can still go back into 41-50 without doing all the other floors.

you clearly just have zero patience and have never actually tried this. i used to get really worked up over this exact same thing, especially when i started tanking and watched my DPS scatter and fight individual targets or watch my healers just forget about healing and start dealing damage or some shit. you just need to explain in no uncertain terms "we will not succeed unless you do this". explaining boss mechanics isn't hard and you're just making excuses. the only reason you're failing here is you; randoms will always be randoms and will always need a firm hand to guide them, but trust me, if you stop talking shit and actually start playing like a mentor and not an elitist douche you're going to make progress and maybe even friends

if people are entering a trial or raid and havent at least read a text guide on it, they shouldnt be there. I tell people what they're fucking up more than once, but other than that, there is nothing I can do more to help them.

Well you can blame game design. The devs take zero effort to punish the playerbase for poor or bad play. If the playerbase wasn't allowed to be brain dead stupid, the people that haven't clear would at least look like they have a brain cell or two. Am I the only person who thinks HW has been disappointing as fuck? The story content aside from like 1 patch has been garbage, the content being added in patches is LESS than what we got in ARR, one less expert per patch and less floors/coils (not to mention normal mode being way fucking easier.) Hildebrand is way fucking worse this time around not getting any trials at all and the story is way weaker.

PoTD is a cool idea but once you've seen one floor and one boss you've seen all the content it has to offer, the tails is a garbage time waster, the halls for soliders or whatever that they just added are Garrisons but even worse somehow. Relic is just another huge fucking boring grind after they said they were going to change it up, less beast tribes, less primals. Oh and not to mention ARR got a new class towards the end of it's life cycle

One thing you can do with all of your junk V materia is transmute 5 of them for a guaranteed new V materia. Post your gear and attributes. You can have a high ilvl but if your stat allocation is complete garbage it doesn't mean shit.

Your SS is too high and your det is a bit low. Your crit could be and should be a lot higher because of the weighting.

If you manage to get 570ish SS, 540 det, and 1065 crit I guarantee you'll see a big difference. Other than that, I'd look into some rotation guides if you think you're not up to par on that.

Oh and make sure you're meeting accuracy requirements.

How much of a difference we talking here? You don't really get a choice on stats, you just take whatever the next ilvl gives you.

It should be decent. Maybe 150-200 dps. Crit stat affects the frequency and damage multiplier during crits. Det is just straight damage.

Consider the following. Crit is weighted at 0.282 per point, Det is 0.210, and SS is 0.141. Now assuming you meet the minimum SS for your class, anything above that can be considered a waste.

Now lets assume 568 is the minimum.

200 SS = 28.2 weight

Now, if we take that extra 200 you have at the moment and split it between Crit and Det we come up with this

CRT 100 = 28.2 weight
DET 100 = 21.0 weight

We're left with 49.2 vs 28.2. That's quite a bit of potential damage you're missing out on by having too much SS.

While ilv does matter because of the raw DEX increase, your other stats are just as important. If you link your gear I could suggest some alternate pieces.

So I tried to change as little as possible and went for the easier to attain items. I don't know whether or not you're doing or will be doing savage so I avoided those pieces entirely.

One of them is crafted but the mats are pretty easy to get a hold of. It just comes down to you knowing someone or trusting someone enough to craft it.

There are Grade V materia in all of the new pieces but that's just there to show you the highest potential gain. You can meld it however you want.

Is potd really that good for leveling/materia? I came back after a year so I've no fucking clue what's good about it after reaching level 30. I rarely got more than 2 sacks for every 10 floors or am fucking it up?

Fixed/Solo parties who can go to floor 100 without a wipe get to run through 101-200.

2 is about normal for every 10 floors in DF.

Grade V materia and the hairstyle are like 5% and 3% drop rate per bag, or there abouts. How much you make out of that depends on how fucked up your servers economy is.

Floor 1-100 were always planned to be babby mode casual content, 100-200 is supposed to be unfair bullshit with ranked leaderboards so you can show off how much of a not-casual you and your friends are.

I don't see it being that hard since the creator and sophia was so simple. Not saying the retards that are crying about it wouldn't fail, maybe it wouldn't be as hard as it is made out to be. I can be wrong though.

grind done well is when it's appropriately rewarding, combat is fun for hours on end, and the environment is pleasant enough to be in for a while. palace of the dead has none of those characteristics. ffxiv combat is only tolerable in challenging content, and most certainly not against mobs that die in a few gcds. it's hardly rewarding, for your time spend going 1-100 in potd, you could be doing much more enjoyable and rewarding content. at least the music is nice
