just a couple of things to keep in mind when looking at these - i wouldnt even go as far to say that these effects completely negate the point that OP is trying to make, the times were clearly different and the slippery slope is a real thing - gay marriage is a testament to this

every generation thinks the next generations music is shit, are disrespectful, more degenerate etc, in turn the "good old days" always seem better than the present. when ever a person remembers something they only ever seem to pick out the good details. everyone remembers school with fondness and are only ever prepared to remember the good times, but when they were there, hated it. this selective remembering is present in most aspects of life.

the old adage "they dont make them like they used to" is similar if not part of the same effect. the only remaining examples of items from a particular time period have either been carefully preserved or are the ones that werent a pile of shit and broke. all the other shit was no start and didnt remain. think about that in terms of policies, say for example if someone said something like "ah yes, the 1950s gave us the space program, good times". of course that is remembered because it was successful and had a lasting legacy. all the people associated with it would have been declared heroes. but any and all policies that were created that had no lasting relevance or was shit from the start wouldnt be remembered.

photography wasnt as easily accessible as it is now. photography was also either an event of it self, or accompanied events therefore photography would pretty much exclusively only show people at their best. if people had a family photo, they would wear their best clothes. if there was a community event where there might be some photography, people would have dressed up for the event. thats not to say immediately after these pictures were taken that the people didnt go back to wearing their coal stained rags they were wearing before or go back to do less appealing activities. there is almost certainly more of an impetus to be pretentious in these photos or even create a narrative becasue of how focused they were. certainly people in modern times would be more inclined to be photographed when they werent wearing their sunday best, which demonstrates a certain degeneracy, but the volume of photography would be more and that increase would encompass people dressing up for photos but also people acting more casually.

photography would also be less accessible to people of low means. so to some extent you are simply comparing the pretense of the 1950s middle class to contemporary lower class.
