If it were for me I'd have either gone with the cheap Powercolor version or the sober, non bullshit Shappire Nitro. But what matters the most at the end of the day is performance and durability, and this ugly shit had the best in that department so I had to make do with that.

The fuck? I built a super high end box for about $2700 which would have bought mid-range 10 years ago. 20 years ago it'd have been too weak to do much of anything with. PC hardware today is a steal.

Worst for me were mainly not doing enough research regarding emulation; turns out it favors Nvidia when it comes to PS2 emulation. Other than that, open source Linux compatibility is great, that's something that would have sucked ass with Nvidia.

Blowers are the norm because they're the only coolers that work in shit cases with near-zero ventilation. OEMs especially love to do that shit, so blowers are the norm.
They're also better for cramped multi-card setups because it means that the air is leaving the case, rather than just getting sucked in by another card.

It has holes for cable management, enough front, bottom and top ventilation, dust filters, plenty of room to put fans and radiators, space on the back to put cables and even SSDs vertically because those don't really need to be horizontal like HDDs, and a couple of other things.

Using an MSI brand GTX 980 I won for free in a competition. Not had a problem with it since i got it, and it's temperature control is quite amazing. Rarely goes above 50 while gaming. Doesn't even need to use the fans.

No real need to push my card to the limit. It's factory overclocked and runs all my games smoothly. Got some high performance fans on the side, water cooled CPU, and a Coolermaster HAF tower.

Skyrim can get up to 60, but ARMA 3 at everything off or low, and 720p, only gets to 30fps at best. Im honestly thinking of just buying another 660 and doing SLI instead of buying a new card

Just get an RX 480 w/8gb, I can run Forza Horizon 3 on Ultra Settings at 2560x1080 at 40fps, and that's in the jungle area at 150mph, just sitting in the desert looking around I can get like 120fps and this is all on a single card in Win10. I haven't even begun shilling about how it's like in win7.

I mean I run an 8-core CPU along with it and right now the CPU is the bottleneck.

Even at 1920x1200, Xcom 2, Verdun, ARMA/Dayz, and most AAA-titles can't break 60 fps. Not even The Long Dark or Rocket League are well-optimized.

Forza Horizon 3's jungle area is very intensive, makes most setups chug regardless, even the console it's optimised for has trouble with it and that runs it at a 30fps lock on what I think is medium or high settings.

anyway this game is meant for 16:9 aspect ratios the fact that it performs well at 21:9 is deserving of praise.
