Never played that game, so I don't know about that faction. But it's a prequel to SoC about Strelok's group. In SoC you pick up some stuff about Strelok's past and you eventually pick up that he wasn't exactly a boyscout. Even less so some of his companions.

I got RSOD's after about 30 minutes of gameplay.
So I updated my drivers and got something like "Your GPU is not supported" instead after some time of playing.
.10 worked great.

As someone who played Clear Sky to completion with no mods on Stalker difficulty because fuck how bleeding needs more bandages on higher difficulties, Clear Sky is what Freedom would be if Freedom weren't a bunch of mongoloid anarchists and if they had more men and better equipment, Clear Sky actually are scientists and some other Stalkers that saw the zone getting worse with its increasing emission frequency because Strelok reached the center of the zone, and the zone doesn't like that at all so it is trying to purge Strelok. Clear Sky deduced that Strelok was the reason for the increasing amount of emissions and Clear Sky gave their lives at Limansk and Chernobyl NPP to stop Strelok for the safety of the zone and its inhabitants.

I even went back to Clear Sky after removing those distance limits and I wanted to bathe in the swamp water because of the lack of good cover.

They really need to add an exclusion zone for mob spawns at map entrances in CoC, the amount of times I've died 1 second after loading into a new map is ridicules.

I haven't had this happen to me since 1.4 was released.
When you enter Red Forest from Jupiter can still be a little iffy though.

I suggest Shadow of Chernobyl first, but, then again, I started with the last one and still got to enjoy them all.

Shadow of Chernobyl. Patch it, get ZRP for extra bug fixes if you want (I never used it, but it can't hurt), turn crosshairs off and play on master difficulty.

Call of Pripyat is fine patched, but the story is pretty boring. Clear Sky I have no idea, I played it vanilla and it had a bunch of problems. I'm sure there's a 'mandatory' mod for it or something.

Is there any mod for those S.T.A.L.K.E.R series that adds in more explosive weapons, artificial enhanced or other experimental stuff? I know ShoC had some but they were not very "interesting" to use to say the least.

Shieeet meant to write artifacts, and I forget to mention that there was ABC mod for ShoC as well that NEWSA Symbian mod but they are pretty dead and the new release of ABC that was supposed to come out never came it's the one which was made by a hue if i recall it correctly, it also had a fake Crysis suit which is actually SEVA suit retextured.

AMK has tons of artifacts and artifact transmutation.
Wish there was a port of such feature for CoC, along new anomalies.

and if I recall correctly in AMK you couldn't enhance the weapons at all with those things, not to mention of the plentiful fetch quest it has.

Is it just me or did they change the rate at which weapon durability lowers? After one artefact hunting trip by the time I got back to a mechanic my weapon was almost broken.

The question is that what kind of case would be used to hold an artifact, particularly by loners who have gone to the zone with only the finest of age-old Soviet surplus, wanting to trade artifacts.

What's up with AO? I remember using it in CoP or CS and never ran into any problems but in CoC I get crashing issues non stop and their damage seems to be extremely low compared to vanilla weapons.

I haven't read my logs but usually it's unhandled exception error. I haven't had any game breaking bugs so far and I've been farming bandits, and military for a while now. Got quite a stock on ammo and a few miscellaneous guns. I'm actually using STCoP weapon add-on as well. I also just noticed I picked up the basic scanner

Stalkers AI can be good time, they try and stay on the move from cover to cover to flank you and when they know you can see them they imeditaly move somewhere else which is more then you can say for most FPS where the AI just stand still and shoots you.
I'm not sure if they do this because their incompetent programmers or because constantly moving enemies would be infuriating to hit with a controller aka console limitations.

I've used both STCoP and Arsenal Overhaul with CoC, but in both addons the reflex sights for Russian rifles are broken. The Kobra doesn't display the usual three line sight picture it's just a green blob instead and the red chevron sight isn't illuminated. Same with the western holographic sight.

Sometimes I miss factions wars, the amount of times i've slaughtered every Freedomer in that fortress we should own it by now multiple times over.

I never use AP rounds. I always just go for headshots or like with 7.62x39 being so abundant I can just shoot them 10 times in the dick for the fun of it.
I always use normal ammo and always pick a weapon that the enemy I'm going ou to hunt uses so I don't have to worry about ammo and can go cheeki breeki any way I want.

In any case I always tweak my game so that anyone including myself dies from 2 headshots max if wearing an exo and some artifacts, anything above that is really gay.

Headshots are useless if they have heavy armour, you should carry some AP rounds for those assholes or be good at throwing grenades.

I cant rememeber a mod where even exos could withstand more than 3-4 headshots from any decent gun.

Duty, The Millitary, Monolith and master rank stalkers all rely on very heavy armour, they can take a hit without dropping hell your shots can bounce right off them some times so you need invest in some AP rounds.

As for the arena that's an optional challenge, you don't actually need to do them in order to progress.

So I found this damage modifier file and I'm curious what all the different damages mean. I want to change a number of things to make it more realistic

I've been using STCoP and haven't run into any problems, my crashing rate has gone up a bit but the weapons themselves are perfectly fine, if you want a weapon mod try that one.

AO in it's current state is near unplayable.

So in CoC how does one find a good scanner, what missions can I do to get myself a set of advanced tools quicker as well?
I'm struggling to find the tools but a higher tier scanner than Bear's would be really nice. Ironically my first tools were Expert tools which is threw me right off. Otherwise been saving ammo and gun running for Nimble once I find advanced tools I'm gonna change to an exoskeleton, got a free Sig SG550 or however it's spelled from a revenge mission, the guy who gave it to me has a nightstar on him so I'm gonna get him killed for it, for a second one. This is from the raid for that mission which I didn't have to kill the entire bandit base but I did anyways both Limpid and Sultan were killed as well, just admiring my handiwork or 25 men were slain.

You'll get a suit, an artifact or a veles detector from my experience.

I haven't found any pattern for which quests gives stash locations.
There probably is one though.

Ecos carry detectors and sometimes zombies do as well, I found my Svarog on a dead ecologist in Yantar.

Okay I'll go looking I met Doc in the CS base in the Great Swamp and got a stock of SVD's to sell to nimble so this should be fun.

Anyways I thought this was pretty nifty it's the conclusion to CS and this guy survived and he's pissed.

As far as I know there are no fixed location for tools it's pure luck if a stash has one, but you can get third tier upgrades from Forester in Red Forest, his inside that small tower like building on the northern edge next to the entrance to Yanov, go prepared as it's usually surrounded by either Military or Monolith.

As for the detector look for a Name ecologist and not the randomly generated ones, they seem to have a higher chance of carrying one, I haven't found a single detector in a stash though so I don't think they spawn in those, hopefully they implement a quest to get it in a later patch.

Forester doesn't need tools to upgrade, only other mechanics do.

If you want some good early weapons the Mercs in Wild Territory usually carry some high tier weapons, they camp that three story open tower structure.
As for the Chimera try Red Forest you can usual find a few there, rarely they can also spawn at the entrances of Rostok which is even better as the guards can kill it for you.

So basically like in ShoC? Alright I will try my luck there soon enough.

hmm I rather keep that in mind, since I have yet to scrape together some shekels and having a good amount of ammunition. I managed to kill a bloodsucker with rusty metal guns from zombies, which was a bit tough.

I find it weird that spawning as a ecologist you don't even get the tier 1 detector, oh well at least I managed to get the bear detector relative soon. The ability to skin off the muties for profit is pretty neat I missed that shit since CS and CoP doesn't have them because reasons.

The only thing that I dealt with that was fine were two bloodsuckers, that's it okay. Play in order faggot, chronology goes SoC -> CS -> CoP, play the first time through without mods but patch the shit, come back to thread once beaten a game.

Spawn at Yantar, use your brain to outgun zombies and loot them, easier that way.
You can kill chimeras with any semi-auto shotgun on full mag pretty easily, nade launchers does the job faster.

Well, first of all, you enter Dead City through the Yantar factory, and second, yes you do need to disable X-16. And what do you mean you have it rigged? Do you mean you have an uncalibrated psi-helmet? That will still let you survive, just have a shorter timer.

The problem is I don't have the transit point for it, I searched the OGSE Moddb forum and it mentioned I had to go to Streloks stash for it where the Doc is supposed to come and telling me about it, I went there several times and the Doc was nowhere to be found. I already had the X-16 lab disabled and the X-18 stuff.

Well the X-10 lab is rigged, as soon I hit the switch I die from the explosion, I do have a calibrated psi-helmet.

Welp I already made a new game with the latest patch because it was around 600+MB big and they fiddled with the all.spawn again, not that it really matters for me since it seems my quest stuff was bugged somehow, I am not sure if Wolf death is part of the cause since I cannot even meet Guide at all there is only Fox.

I had today 3 crashes, one during fiddling with the controls, then another one after leaving the freedumbs base and the third one during moving into the Dead City. None of my other Stalker games with mods had such a frequent crashes, through I don't know I am using it over Wine 1.9.22 and a 64bit prefix, is CoC 64bit in the first place?

For the CoC installed addons are these: STCoP v2 I think, money loot and the 1.4.14 patch and nothing else. It also pisses me off that they go overboard with the damn moving fireball anomaly like what the fuck man?

I'll be quite honest, I don't remember how to activate the transition point to Dead City other than turning off X-16. I've played through OGSE 3 or 4 times, but for some reason, this particular segment eludes my memory. There might be some document in X-16 that activates the transition point, I do not remember.

It's because how the doors function, the easiest fix would be to make the npc's just walk through the doors but I'm not sure how hard that would be considering you would have to differentiate between the actor and the npcs for it, or just ignore it and have the doors be immaterial for everyone or remove them alltogether.


I don't remember if this happened to me in ogse but in others mods burers and the like have thrown the documents around places so they were not where they were supposed to be / they fell out of the map. Also in a few mods that I don't remember using teleport from a dev console broke some of the labs.

I would say that OGSE is worth replaying, especially considering you haven't even been to Dead City, hands down the best location in the whole mod.

With the 2.10 version I went to the garbage so far and I have to get a bit better gears so I can push to the Agroprom area, at least I know how most of the quest works so I think I will be able to do it a bit faster. I cheated my self some rubles and the veles detector because I just cannot be arsed to grind again due to a gameplay breaking bug OGSE does indeed have some nice features such as being able to change the mag types for a larger capacity – too bad it doesn't work for NATO/Western weapons oh well.


hmm, I will try to keep that in mind and searching much harder if that is going to happen or so.

Best bet is to find a pic of where they should be, go there and look around and think where it could have flown from that spot with a throw or two.
If you cant find it with that in mind it's either bugged or fell through the map.

Look for a spawn mod / if it has a dev console for spawning, you can get documents through those usually.

I managed to do all the Klondike quest except for the Owl part since I haven't seen him in the first place, and yeah I did those additional side quest which were pretty neat a nice change to the repeating quest. I think I did all of Sidorovich, Barkeep, the crazy "Merc", the Chestnut thing and the Dead Stalker at X-18 (well I got on that one only 2 artifacts out of 3 I saved the screenshots for that one since it doesn't get saved on the PDA at all).

And speaking of the PDA Encyclopedia I really miss that since CS and CoP doesn't have them anymore, not even CoC. Thanks again.

Hmm, according to some guy, the transition to Dead City is learned through Doc in Strelok's stash. Have you visited him? Oh wait, the Guide wasn't there for you… Yeah, sounds like a bug.

Was Wolf supposed to give the quest for the Guide? Since he is important for unlocking the Doc, and I think the constant Merc assault killed him, looting the Wolf body didn't do anything at all for unlocking additional quest.

Yeah I wrote here before I visited Strelok's stash several times and I did things like going in and out of this place and reloading the save nothing helped.

No, Wolf doesn't point you to Guide. He fucks off later anyway. I think looting Ghost's body in X-16 gives you the task to revisit Strelok's Stash, where you learn to visit Guide. Man, now I need to replay and check out the exact sequence of events.

Hmm, does any of those Scientist like Sakharov and the other one going to sell ammunition when the reputation is maxed out? The only advance of having him is to sell mutie body parts for good profits which seems to be a nice alternatives as my artifact exploitation is quite low.

Also when I am doing the head hunter mission for the Mercenary do I lose reputation with the other factions? Because this is the closet thing for buying ammunition and weapon repair/upgrades.

I know there's more than one thing since there's AP properties and pierce properties and bullet speed and all the mumbo jumbo. I want to try and make the damage more realistic so unarmored bandits don't survive 3 headshots from a .338 lapua among other things

nvm figured it out, basically the stats have been split between the bullets and the gun, the ammo stats are all about the physics and bonuses it has, while the gun determines the damage. So you could change the damage of the m1911 to be a 1 shot kill while the usp45 will still be a pea shooter.

Did I miss something? I could've sworn npcs can get killed by emissions when you have it set to kill instead of zombify but they're not dying. they walk through emissions fine. Didn't CoC change that or was I just imagining it?

Gamebryo has the advance you can easily install several mods including mods that change the map, having them updated and your savegame is still intact, in X-Ray as soon the all.spawn is edited you are fucked.

It's not that it doesn't need mods, it's that most mods come as a full packaging nowadays, from graphics improvement, to gameplay tweaks, weapon content, quests, story replacements. The only real issue is adding and populating new maps, because it's such an arduous task in Xray.

It's not about that, it's more about how difficult it is to make maps and work with all.spawn. Lack of proper mapping tools, that is.

Rubbish, the actual scavenging and looting part of the game got significantly worse when repairing got introduced, the game becomes piss easy and progression flatlines at the top when you can repair all your unique weapons and overpowered exoskeletons instead of having to adapt to your gear situation. My first, vanilla playthrough of SoC will always hold the best memories because I felt like a STALKER, constantly being forced to weigh options and make sacrifices, stashing the good guns away for when they were needed and not wasting them on side missions. STALKER shouldn't have the 'character builds' that repairing introduced, it shouldn't have the permanent god mode at the top of the gear progression, it should be constant adaption and change. I always mod the repair costs to be prohibitively expensive so I don't fall in to unfun trap of only playing with my favorite toys.

I'd turn off most elements in the HUD if I could I only need to know what my health, stamina and my bullet counts are at. I never use the minimap I just use the PDA, I can see what items I got quick selected via inventory, I don't care for other specific symbols that pop up at all, hell the only useful thing from the minimap is when it beeps about people being nearby

That's what I've been doing, for the Murican ammo anyway which I have about 2k of them in normal and AP version. I have a moderate amount for the Ruskie and Buckshot ammo since I am using them alot for disposal of Bandits and Muties. I have been doing quite alot of profit mainly from selling mutant parts and doing a few quest here and there. All what I am missing now is some kits (I managed to get 3 basic kits and a 1 advanced kit) and a fucking veles detector through a svarog detector would be real noice as well.

Are the CoC Developers on planning adding a few more side quest for main character such as the barkeep and the like? Sakharov only quest is fetching a damn mutant parts and that's fucking it, no special artifact, armor, weapons and the like just this one damn thing.

I'm running CoP on DX11 and from what I can tell SSAO, Sun Quality, and Sun-shafts have no quality difference on any of the settings other than performance (and I can't get the sun shafts to really show), correct?
I know AA is a waste of time on this engine, does having a fake form of AA make the sun shafts work or is it some sort of nvidia problem?
My system doesn't have a problem running everything max but I don't know if the load times are worth it if the game is fundamentally ancient with these features not being worthwhile.

They've added a questline now which is extremely barebones. It's basically now Start the game and try to get to the NPP.

They said it doesn't respect story continuity, it's pretty much just an excuse to get you to go through different areas.
