How did everything go so wrong?

How did everything go so wrong?

when you made a template thread with no input of your own about a game no one knows

team based shooters that aren't wolfenstein belong in the fucking trash, all of them

Wolfenstein is shit compared to Catacombs-3D.

There's no maps.

Its essentially Modern Enemy Territory

no it's not

It kinda was half of the maps were directly from Wolfenstien

Splash damage were just shit

...

It's a pretty solid game idk what you're on about.

they decided the best way to do an fps is to have things behind randomly dropped cards

Except you can buy those cards with ingame currency.

The biggest problem with the loadout system was that only 1 card out of like 10 was the only good one

If you want to min/max sure, but if you're half decent at the game you can manage with any random card that has your primary gun of choice.

they kept nerfing the things that were fun and buffing the shit that was obnoxious

I liked the artstyle

Wasn't this the game that was packed with viruses and shit that mined your computer?

This fat fuck being the lead designer. I knew from the get go shit was terribly under his care, when he went on a Q/A stream and lost his cool over the "6 months and no new content" question, "People haven't spent a single dime and are happy with the content in the game. So I don't believe the game is lacking in content. But If you buy stuff from the game, and maybe want more content, then sure."

Terrible* Sage for double post

It's made by the developers of Brink so take from that what you will

Stopped playing when they introduced the op sword-wielding edgelord

It was fun but they made it grind, the game.
The russian healer girl is absolute shit with her peashooter.
Too few maps.

Otherwise the gameplay is not bad. It takes a few too many shots to down someone with peashooters, but still feels like a shooter unlike overshit.

isn't that a variation on the swastika?

Lot's of gun autism up to CS-tier where your abilities are important and impressive but your gun is even more important, despite being less impressive.
They were also tied behind those cards and sometimes you got the card with the primary weapon you wanted but a shitty perk or shitty secondary, so you tried to get another.

It was pretty much like playing Counter Strike but the skin you pick for your character gives you a list of random weapons out of which one is picked for you.

There was some depth to it and many of the mercs were fun to play with, certainly more fun than Counter Strike. The artstyle was pretty great as well.

But the world and the story behind it were quite boring, there was a very "tryhard" atmosphere about the game where they kept trying to pass the idea that they were hardcore because "iron sights are for fags" and a lot of the characters felt a bit lackluster.

And while I really loved the idea that engineers or hackers can do certain timers at double the speed, making them more important for team composition, you rarely had teammates that cared about that shit and most matches were retarded DeathMatch.

Also, Beyblade French ninja being defended by some of the fans as "skill". I actually wanted to play the character but he was overabused by the players in the most retarded ways (using Cloak as a shield, Beyblade) and he was nerfed so much you were more efficient with your gun than with your katana.

You shouldn't have stopped then. Instead, you should have stopped a few weeks later when they nerfed that guy to the point he's useless now.

no, it's a nuclear symbol

That ain't really wrong tho. It was refreshing to see a modern game without any.

Bland as fuck team based objective shooter with iron sight game play and a paywall locking content away and half baked mechanics poorly implemented. Problem with most shooters.

It's made by the developers of Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory so take what you will

Except they still had them. The only difference was that hip fire was more accurate than in these kinds of games so in short range, you didn't needed them.

In theory, this means that you don't need iron sights even if they are present, just move close to them and spray your gun.
In practice, other players would keep their range, use iron sights and murder you while you were trying to go near them, forcing you to sit behind cover and use iron sights too.

Close quarters maps and sections of them did exist but they weren't most of it and not even "mandatory", pretty much all objectives could be defended from some vantage point where iron sights did gave you an advantage.

Extremely shallow gameplay despite the nice movement system and no new maps for what may as well be years at this point (no, Counter-Strike gamemode clone maps do not count).

The cs approach of a zoom in has always been better over shoving the gun to cover half the camera.

The cs approach of a zoom in has always been better over shoving the gun to cover half the camera.

It's just different balancing mechanics. CS trades speed for aim, while other games trade speed AND part of your view for aim.

Nothing inherently bad about either of them, every game can do it's thing.
What you can't do is market a game about "no iron sights, this is really fast wow!" and then still have iron sights and maps that make them take precedence over hipfire.

This, because the devs were bought by Blizzard. Imagine if Overshit comes out and a better game like Dirty Bomb is free, healthy and still beign supported?

[citation needed]

the game has a stupid name. it was doomed for failure from the get go

the game has a stupid name. it was doomed for failure from the get go

What exactly is stupid about it ?

...

More like dirty protest.

The explosion of a dirty bomb is not meant to be big.

Nigger, its just a normal bomb. They didnt even bother to have the players die when it goes off

What do you want it to be like ?

No Anti-Cheat for months after release killed it. Also, the default gear sucks.

Most people don't know what a dirty bomb is, and the name itself sounds dumb for the real thing as it seems more like a porn or scat thing than an actual serious threat.

They could have called it Mercs&Bombs and it would have been a better name.

Also for this, at least in TF2 when you finish pushing the payload, the damn thing blows up and kills anyone nearby.
It might seem minor since the game is already decided when it happens, but it gives character to the bomb and the map itself.

The bomb should actually blow up and kill everyone nearby, maybe change the map but at least put a green filter on everyone's vision nearby. Perhaps not kill them instantly but slowly kill them.

So many things went wrong.

This is the biggest turnoff for many people. Nexon is one of the most greedy, lazy developers next to Activision. They ahovel out buggy free to plays and throw out pay to win microtransactions for overpowered weapons. They did the same here as they did to their other free to plays like Tactical Insertion (But that game was doomed from the start due to how buggy it was) and Ghost in the Shell 1st Assault.

For being Nexon's best acclaimed F2P, I didn't see Dirty Bomb get much new content outside of new guns and characters. They seem to just shovel out F2Ps then after a few months just make a new F2P and move onto that one.

When Overwatch showed up, a llot of people got sick of Nexon's shit and would rather put up with Blizzard's jewry, so they switched.

There are others reasons in the thread to why this game dropped hard, but these are my reasons.

I don't know why it double posted but hey there you go.

Well objectives are a big more messy here, but also more varied.
Also a dirty bomb won't leave green all over the place, so I don't see why the game should do that either. Unless we want it to be more cartoony than it is.

It's a matter of feedback, relaying back to the players what they accomplished, which in videogames can only be done with audio or visual clues.

For instance, in some maps you have to deliver an EMP bomb. When one of those things goes off, you realy don't see anything but you feel a tingling in your hair and arms. But since this can't be convenveyed in a videogame, you usually make a gigantic dome of electrical energy emanting from the bomb to give the player feedback.

So while real dirty bombs don't leave greenshit everywhere, you still do it so the players get the clear idea that there's a deadly chemical in the air and the surrounding area that slowly kills people. (and a slow tick every second that takes some health until they are killed after about 5 seconds)

Game was fun at first, then they introduced that crippling Anti-Cheat that makes Denuvo look good.

Grindfest to unlock characters without spending money.

Card based loadout system

The audacity to claim that this game was made with the same intention as Wolfenstein:ET

What was it and how did it work?

Denuvo is DRM, not an anti-cheat mechanism.

I don't think dirty bomb specifically was one of the big concerns in terms of anti-cheat, but I do remember looking into some other game published by Nexon that utilized some pretty intrusive stuff. Something about it hooking into the bootloader or something ridiculous.
I'm no engineer but I say keep anti-cheat away from touching any of my information unless I am directly running the game it's supposed to protect or whatever. Just seeing a fucking idle "cheatchecker.exe" using 2mb of ram in task manager is enough to make me seriously consider uninstalling a game. If it serves no other purpose, then why is it running while I'm not playing the game?

This merc was meant to be released last year

Still no new maps that arent execution ever

Here's the stuff that went wrong
(Have fun having snipers being an dead weight on your team)
It's a shame because I like the setting and the characters
And some of them are waifu tier

It wasn't Brink 2: This Time We'll Make It Good Edition.

I dont know. I was playing around 5 months ago non stop and it was pretty livid. They should have added more gameplay elements to make it more fun, but to be honest they did a decent job

Don't know what I was thinking. Movement and gunplay is fun but it needed more maps and modes, the devs try hard but don't have enough resources. Maybe it wasn't P2W enough, I didn't spend anything.

not really

If you don't know about dirty bomb, you need to lurk moar before posting.

There's literally nothing behind a paywall except exp boosters.

Pretty sure the dirty bomb in question is a story related thing and not the c4 you plant/disarm.

You're looking at it wrong. The colors are inverted on the logo but it is a radioactive symbol rotated a bit.

The game is cool the first time, but after that it becomes an absolute snoozefest and a grind if you want a new fucking class.

How is it even possible to fuck up posting this much?

I was running a game in the background. When I did the captcha, it automatically decided to post, then I have no idea what happened.

I've seen it in other boards. It's a bug or a next wave shitposting

since the "what went wrong with" tf2 thread disappeared, it's we should do the tf2 killers?
