I don't know if the polar configuration is particularly well supported, but the plasma cosmology stuff makes far more sense than the mainstream "unexplained gravity and theoretical dark forces" explanations.

If anything, I think Robert Schoch is closer to the mark (than Velikovsky's polar configuration) with the idea of a high energy solar outburst at the end of the Younger Dryas with resultant plasma phenomenon including cosmic lightning.
