Been playing a bit of grey, cool visuals but I think the combat is too fast and hectic.

I've never understood this "horror" shit when it comes to October or Halloween. It's cold outside so all I play is warm and comfy games, the last thing you want is some horror shit at a time like this.

That said, I've yet to finish Penumbra so that's probably next on the list.

Playan Doom. That's horror, right?

Why would I need to buy anything? I have Oblige, Project MSX, and Project Brutality.

It's hard to tell, really. If that game doesn't have a single barrel shotgun: It'll never cross my mind to check it out.

Also hard to tell. The chance that we'll get REmake2 will probably boil down to how well RE7 sells. And there's always a chance, as with any game, that it will be cancelled because of unforeseen consequences. And even if the game is released: the devs may have forgotten why people love REmake 1 so much in the first place and totally fuck it up.

Eh… Unlimited for the first time through and limited for subsequent playthroughs.

Gurgly bastards probably give better head.

If I recall, the guys doing the fan remake of 2 got hired by Crapcom after they shut their project down, so there's that atleast.

I recently downloaded Resident Evil Revelations so I might play that
No I have too many games in my backlog
Probably, the demo was pretty generic
Dunno
Limited per level I'm just thinking of hitman though
No

Are those the episodic games?
Are they good?

Never been one for horror games tbh (mostly cus I suck at them) but if I'm gonna play something for Halloween, it'll either be my nth playthrough of RE4 or finally getting around to beating the original Dead Rising.

If creepy shooters count, I guess I could play Doom 64 Ex or Blood.

Both are very lackluster and focus on shootypatooty too much. One of the first bosses for instance in Revelations 1 is a shitshow, you run around a two-story "mall" while killing infinitely spawning goons to get ammo to kill the boss, which can take a massive hurt even when using the makeshift red barrel bombs for damage. I never want to play that game again. If it weren't for Jill's wet ass I would've probably quit halfway.

Oh and they are episodic in the way any handheld game is, chapters are 5-15 minutes long usually and shift between many characters and locations.

Capcom didn't shut the project down, did they? I thought he completely finished what he wanted to and said, lol I just did this to see if I could, I'm never releasing it.

Then I've read some false info. I'm not arsed to look it up now.

I just looked it up, I was wrong. They did shut it down.

Nothing yet
An OG XBOX and both Fatal Frame to keep me occupied until my softmodding stuff are delivered
Likely
Probably, the question should be "Can crapcom not fuck it up royally?".
Limited
Maybe

REmake. Atmosphere is top notch and it delivered some great spooks, but I just find it easy to get lost in the mansion compared to the Silent Hill games for some reason. I'm just too used to Silent Hill's save system and not needing to backtrack to an item box. At least the map is incredibly helpful as always.

I preordered Corpse Party 3DS way back in July, I hope that comes in the mail eventually.

I hope it doesnt but it really seems to be more like The Texas Chainsaw Massacre meets outlast than regular RE.

I hope so.

I'm personally more used to Silent Hill's unlimited saves.

Nope

I don't know if it can be considered a "horror" game, aside from the Ocean House, but pic related has been my addiction for the last three days. First time playing it too, wish me luck lads.

They shut it down but invited them to the capcom offices. Makes me a little worried thinking RE2 will be behind 3rd person view.

FEAR.
It's only okay.
Hell no.
In linear games: No manual saves at all.
In games where you're navigating the same area for hours: Unlimited because that shit just gets frustrating.
No.

Resident evil remake that was on psplus
Nope…but I'm looking at a sale for hitman
I don't think so, looks fine so far and no matter how much salt people on here will spread, is a comeback to the original
Never ever
Casual detected. I used to finish my first RE without a memory card because got fried and had to do it all in 1 run
Maybe

Just got done playing REmake. It was fucking awesome. I remember my brother playing it years ago after renting it from a video store. This might now be one of my favorite games.

Decided to finish RE4 completely. For a long time, I found it to be a betrayal of original series and a reason for a downfall fort a series. But you know what? On it's own it's a pretty fun game and a Professional difficulty is a nice change of pace for it to work better a s a horror game. Mercenary mode is fun as hell too, can't believe I didn't even tried before. It still not a good substitute for previous games style, but It's alright.

Play Malkavian or Nosferatu on the second run. Changes the gameplay quite a bit.

Also

Might be a good thing, given today's industry.

I'll keep it in mind. I just saved the twins, and I didn't even get to bone best girl Theresa.

It is a good thing, if SS3 came out today it would be something like Cyberpunk Bioshock: Infinite with a shitty plot, shitter puzzles and forced "diversity".

Revelations 1 is pretty good. It's about on par with RE5, and infinitely better than RE6.

Heh, I think it's the exact opposite. Pro forces you into ammo conservation mode to the point where you need to learn to knife face > kick, and once you master that you can just effortlessly roll piles of ganados without firing a shot, saving all of your ammo for the handful of non-trivial enemies like chainsaw giganiggers.

I'm sort of conflicted on that. Revelations 1 is good, especially when you consider the fact that it is a handheld game. But I thought Revelations 2 was an improvement in many ways, except when it comes to music. Plus I had fun with RE5 couch co-op, even though it felt like a retread of RE4 in some ways.

I went into Outlast not knowing what to expect except that it got consitently high reviews. I got Amnesia with less puzzles and 300% more torture porn. Not sure I liked it.

But they're making a SS3.

You deserved better, child.

Sorry, if the game is too shit then it didn't deserve anything. What it deserved is what it got: To be overshadowed by something superior which was then overshadowed by something superior.

I really want to give that game a chance, but I'm worried it'll be too outdated unless you're really serious about it.

I meant it as in, it deserved better developers, not for people to like it. I don't expect anybody except me to actually like it.

Alone in the dark is creepy as fuck mate, go for it

It's actually pretty cool. Combat is a shit sandwich but it's a survival horror game so that's the point. The game is more about avoiding combat than anything else, in fact the first area is about blocking the locations where enemies can burst through just so you'll have time to explore and get your head about you. Also the sprite art is still pretty great, the polygon art has held up like shit as expected, but to me shit looking games add to the fucked up atmosphere.

Do it, it's great. There's a problem though, if you do things in the wrong order you could get stuck for good and have to start the game over. So save a lot, use different save slots and don't be afraid to use a walkthrough when things get complicated.

Just imagine: Even if you sit in your cozy little loghouse, with a nice fire burning in the chimney, a warming glass of scotch in your hands and a trusty typewriter in front of you, the sight of some skinwalker or suitwalker or eldritch abomination or hillbilly rapist would scare the living daylight out of you, doubly so when your log hut sits isolated somewhere in the wilderness.

...

Wasn't that great honestly. Especially because they did away with the one factor that made the Blair Witch scary - the fear of the unknown.

Did I miss the dump of vol 3 for spiral town? I've been busy this last week.

There wasn't a dump, to my best knowledge

FNAF: Sister Location was alright. If Scott sticks with the groundwork SL laid, make it less linear and made the environment more active he could end up with a really good spooky point & click adventure.

I think Scott's a decent person, but he also knows - business-wise - that his fanbase largely consists of twelve-year-olds with an attention span of less than twelve seconds.

I started playing Silent Hill 1 a few days ago, and I've started playing Fatal Frame 2 last night. I've been mostly playing RE:make and Deadly Premonition this month.
I'm planning on buying anything right now, but I did buy Deadly Premonition, Silent Hill 1 and 3, and Eternal Darkness a while ago.
I really hope it wont, but honestly yeah it probably will.
I really, really hope we will, but I'm not so sure we will. An official RE:make 2 anyway; theres all ways fangames.
Most likely unlimited
no

*not

RE:make 2 is confirmed and has been for almost a year now, though we have no idea what it will look like and if the gameplay is gonna be similar to the original.
The devs said they are going to make an announcement in a short while, but I'm already guessing it's not gonna be RE2 with current gen graphics, it's probably gonna have influences from RE4 gameplay.

I've avoided Revelations 2 in the past because it's a kike-tier DLCfest, but they have the complete edition now and I'm tempted to buy it when it goes on sale.

Would you say it's worth it?

I've really like Revelations 2, played it solo and I had a great time with it. I thought the ambiance was really well handled and there was some pretty stressful phases.
And the RAID was imo a superb addition, I spent lots of hours on it.

Alrighty, added to watchlist. Will pick it up during the next sale, thanks user.

yeah theres something I forgot to mention, I really wouldn't spend over 15 dollarydoos on it, because I know the RAID mode isn't everyones cup of tea and the main story is rather short

Yeah I know he's probably just gonna go back to the standard sit and try not to get spooked, especially since the free dlc update SL is getting. It just sucks because he's got talent and he can do so much more with it, but the autistic goy bucks are too strong.

...

I bought it on sale for $25 at launch, so yeah I'd say it's worth it. At least in terms of single player, never really played much of Raid Mode. FoV is tiny though like Revelations 1 so hope that doesn't affect you.

So it still holds up in terms of horror? That sounds like a great talent for a horror game to have after all these years.

Why do kids love FNAF? I thought it'd be too scary for them or something. I guess it's cool that they're getting into horror at a young age, but still.

Kids these days don't play vidya, they just watch let's players pretend to get spooked by them on youtube.

Now that's just sad.

Youtubbers and like with MLP/Sonic; colorful characters that are easy draw/blank slates = Original character donut steal cringefests

damn dude you could have been

Best horror games:

It's never going to happen, but I think it has possibility to be a very fun horror game.

one of the 'monsters' is just the writers madness and you'll spend tons of time setting up defenses and suspecting others for literally nothing but a few visual and audio tricks

user, even if I actually like those games I still know that's a very silly statement to make.
Amnesia 1 and Bioshock are also very questionable.

Is SOMA any fun? I like the lore behind it.

Its barely a game, I played a bit of it and dropped it after the first monster. Later segments show some pretty cool sea segments but its still a walking simulator

It's a walking sim at it's core. Watching a commentary free playthrough on youtube is almost the exact same experience you'll get from playing it. It's only really fun to play if you're gonna do a glitched speedrun.

Not really. And the story tries too hard to lower its concepts to a level the average normalfag can sorta understand them. Also, the protagonist is a huge idiot.

Please tell me they don't do Coldsteel-tier donut steal OC for FNAF.

What a shame.

How well do Nanashi no Game and Nanashi no Game Me play on emulators? Any weird gimmick stuff like Hotel Dusk or Another Code: Two Memories that make it a pain in the ass to play when emulated?

I was thinking of starting them after I finish all the corpse party games

they do, they also make fan games for their OC and copious amounts of porn. They also do character shipping with official characters. But I won't post any because I don't want to derail this thread, just go on deviantart or any furry hub if you want to see the true horrors.

They play fine, once you get used to them. The emulators have a screen rotation feature, and since most of the interaction and movement is done with the touchscreen, you'll be using the mouse a lot.

No thanks, I dont want that kind of horror.

Alright, I was just worried that there was stuff like closing the system or using the mic for puzzles or something. I'm going in blind so I have zero knowledge of what to expect.

He's baiting.

Outlast, it's meh. Also played Awareness Rooms a little time ago, although it's not a horror, it's a pretty good dirt cheap surreal adventure game reminiscent of Yume Nikki.
Not yet, but thinking of pirating corpse party on the 3ds
I'm not a hardcore REfag, so I would be okay with pretty much whatever.
Most probably
Unlimited

Unironically Minecraft.
I'll replay some old maps and perhaps add some horror mods.

It emulates well since the emulator has a rotate screen function in the shortcut bar.

nobody fucking cares about you.

The spookiest thing about Evil dead is that even thought there are possessed people and monsters ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING can fuck with you. From your own hand to a door knob or a rug.

Timesplitters 3 future perfect

Muh nigga
AoM was funny but it just wasn't that pitch perfect blend of comedy and horror that 2 was.

What's the consensus of Sweet Home? Been playing it for 15 minutes, and aside from the crappy UI it seems pretty nice. Should i keep playing?

If you like it, why stop?

because he can't go against the hivemind.

No. It's shit. Play Silent Hill 2

Dude

I'm Getting a dark deeds/metastasis/Werewolf Feel From this
God Everyday i find new reasons to miss the golden age of warcraft 3 maps
All those times we accidentally murdered each other trying to find the "werewolf" only to find out he had timed out at the beginning brings warmth to my heart

My fucking nigger.
Warcraft 3 is alive and well, though. Werewolf updated not long ago and most Dotafags are gone. It's not as full of people as it used to be, but it sure is comfy.

Better than 5 and 6, worse than 4

Revelations 1 suffers limitations because muh 3DS port and Revelations 2 suffered on release but seems fine now

Raid mode is where it's at

I'm playing SH2. I'm at the hotel. I might play 3 again next.

Considering they mostly kept the format in RE:make 0 I would say a RE:make 2 would be fine without RE4 gameplay, also Capcom seems to be looking to "make resi great again" so going closer to where the series started to be so divisive would probably not be a good move

REmake is god tier and one of my favorite games of all time. If you want to play it again and have a real challenge, try Real Survival mode. You should make sure you know the game pretty well before doing that though.

It's pretty cheesy, and pretty damn slow, but it does have a creepy feel to it and builds up a nice atmosphere.

It's great, I love it, if you're having fun, keep playing. I don't know why you ask.

I just fucking love these two games. They have as much focus on action as well as resource management. They have combat mechanics that, if pulled off correctly, give you a huge advantage by conserving ammo for tougher enemies later on, and accumulating resources from dead bodies.

In RE4, that would be using the knife and QTEs when enemies are stunned. In TEW, burning multiples bodies with a single match, sneak/stun kills, etc..

This is absolutely my favorite type of horror game, and I wish I could find more that would fit this category. Google searches always \point out stuff like Amnesia or Outlast, which couldn't be farther from what I actually want to play.

Maybe Cryostasis?

Try the dead space series

This too, but only on harder difficulties.

Yeah, I've played those games too. I also played TLOU (much to my displeasure, because the pacing is fucking awful when you just want to get to the gameplay part).

This one looks really interesting.

I played it my first time a few days ago on the hardest difficulty and only died once, which was when the first hunter appeared. I was already low on health and since I couldn't see the fucker it just slashed me within .5 seconds of it appearing. I don't think I could do real survivor mode because the item boxes being disconnected would piss me off.

too bad both games are hardly horror ( even if I find them to be fine.) I've played RE4 10 times and evil within felt like it could have been much better than what it was.

I need to give these games a second chance.

I agree. The game is incredibly clunky at times, from the animations to the sound. But it's really satisfying.

Reinstalling this now. Anybody know if Unofficial Patch 9.6 has any other dependencies? It was last updated in September so I figure it's a good time to try this game again.

I found it impossible to use knife reliably on pre difficulty for me, so I had to actually make an effort into making my shots count and escape some of the encounters all together.

how did they drop the ball so hard

EA

It's a horror game from the perspective of the monsters.

Just need to bait out their melee attacks first, especially the pitchfork guys since they've got retarded range.

let them get close > start backpedaling as they swing > attack misses because you're just out of range > take a step forward > knife face > kick

Any time Bloodlines get mentioned, someone reinstalls it.

Real Survival is not that complicated if you plan your shit, that's why I said you just need to know the game pretty well. You should watch this.

What this user said , but you will find that if you run towards them, even just by barely pressing the running button and forward, you will immediately trigger them to attack. It's slightly different for unarmed enemies, but once you a find the sweet spot, you'll see the game works very consistently.

It's this consistency that I love about RE4, and the control you have over every engagement.

Man, I love those pic related types of stories. Probably partially because I grew up in a small town with lots of forests and I did a lot of wandering around in them. But sometimes I would be gripped by some inexplicable terror that wouldn't go away until I got back home.

Is REmake hd harder than the original game or is it the same?
I played RE1 a thousand times and I'm pretty used to it. It would suck beating the game in one sitting on my first playthrough. I'll still play it to see Jill's hd booty but it would be great to have some new things too

By original you mean the PS1 original, right? Because REmake is harder in that regard thanks to the addition of Crimson Heads, and some remixed puzzles.

I'd say it's harder, especially due to crimson heads, and there's also a lot of new stuff. Just play it anyway, if you liked the original you'll love it.

That's great. I loved RE1 on PSX (and Ds too) and I consider it my favorite next to Code: Veronica.
I just managed to make it run on my toaster and it looks beautiful. I'm hype.

Reminder that locking yourself in a room in the dark and playing Siren 1 and 2 to full completion is the true path towards horror enlightment and Datatsushi itself will bless you if you accomplish it.

Am I the only person who hated Siren's POV stealth system? It's the reason I didn't play the game

I thought I might get out the old PSP and load up some PS1 games on it, what are some of the best horror games for the PS1/PSP? The weirder the better, I loved stuff like Illbleed and I'm a big fan of Junji Ito, if that helps.

The music for that place is unfittingly scary as by that point in the game you've gotten to grips with it and that room has fuck all enemies.

Well he was sent to just investigate and went woth two spanish police officers, then he got caught up in it and being the bad ass he is rekt shop.

Not if you sit around here bitching and complaining instead of creating there won't, you faggo.

With how brutal the original is so far that sounds like hell.

I liked it, it challenged my stance on a moral issue I had and it looks pretty great, only had like 2/3 scary moments though.

Is trash.

I went into it nearly blind and was expecting a spooky deep sea game about what lurks in the unexplored depths and what I got was some kind of existential crisis shit that may as well have been set on a moon or some shit because it really would not have been any different. The story is somewhat interesting I guess but just don't expect it to have much to do with deep sea shit or have engaging gameplay.

There's Obscure

It looks kinda cool, is it actually scary at all?

Speaking of Clock Tower, is there any new updates on Chris Darril's Remothered?

just beat outlast and outlast whistleblower today

stared playing the first fatal frame

also started amnesiai already hate it 10 mins, in

I fucking love Siren and even I wouldn't recommend anyone really playing it with how clunky and unintuitive most of the game is. It's honestly one of the few games that I would tell someone to watch the LPs of

this one guy does a completionist, sub-only commentary playthrough of all three that I highly endorse, just a shame the videos are so old and low-res that some of it is kinda tough to watch

Figured I'd ask this here instead of making a new thread.. Is there a game that makes me feel like I'm playing a classic Scooby Doo episode?

the only thing that comes to mind are the Ben Jordan series of adventure games. They're pretty tame and not really that scary but it's the closest I can think to what you're asking for that I've ever come across.

Persona 4 is called japanese Scooby Doo by some guys, not horror though.

I guess Deadly Premonition in terms of production quality? It's honestly hard to think of games that match old Scooby Doo cartoons. I guess try playing the actual Scooby Doo games themselves?

I'd say that DP is more Twin Peaks a la wacko Japan with a generous helping of RE4 than Scooby Doo but to each their own

thanks for the suggestions, I'll check em all out and see what works best

I'm more interested in a Revelations 3 rather than RE7

This shit. I finished Siren 1 last year and Blood Curse the year before that. Will probably play through 2 this week.

Really though, the first one at least, is very brutal. Better to leave some space of time before you play another Siren after playing that one.

Resident Evil Directors Cut. I've played REDC before but it was the Dual Shock version with the shit score. Already the regular Directors Cut feels more atmospheric and less like a joke than DCDS did, highly suggest it if you've only played the Dual Shock version.

I just got my GDEMU in the mail. Shit is retarded amazing, once I wrap up REDC I'll hop to something on Dreamcast, maybe just check out RE2 & 3 since I've never played the Dreamcast version.

It's modern Capcom, silly question.

Yep, nostalgia is cash right now. That said pic related.

Depends on what the game is going for, for example unlimited saves works fine for SH, that said I personally prefer limited saves.

It would flay my dick, user.

I wasn't ever scared while playing Dead Space 2, but it had some nice tense moments and very satisfying shooting. Good action game for sure.

Pretty sure I would dynamically shit myself. I don't do well with stealth horror at all.

This guy's playthrough isn't half bad, although he does have audio commentary.
youtube.com/watch?v=4Dnr4_4Ykyg

Dude went on to work on NightCry and put Remothered on hiatus.

Now that NightCry is out, maybe he'll focus on Remothered again although I wouldn't hold my breath.

I saw this post yesterday morning and have been playing vtm since then.

Also while we're at it, DEUS EX DEUS EX DEUS EX

...

I just want Jill to smother me in between her thighs, is that really so much to ask for ?

TEW does a really good job at building tension and gives some really great scares. It's a shame the other 70% of the game is garbage action sequences and a shit story.

I just sat here and watched that entire fucking video. That's the first time I've spent more than ~2 minutes watching a streamer play a game, and it was surprisingly entertaining.

For a little while there I understood why kids today would rather watch someone else play vidya than play themselves.

Your waifu a shit. Sheva is obviously best girl.

I respect your opinion but Claire a best

This is great and all but, holy shit, somehow they managed to make the camera even worse than then first game. I'm getting constantly grabed by zombies I don't see until it's too late.

Did any of you have this problem too?

RE1 > REmake

I dont know if its the camera, or if the game is nowhere near as colorful as the PS1 version so enemies blend in the background.

No.

Capcom realised pretty quickly that the camera was important to hide enemies and obfuscate their location. RE1 gives you a lot of freedom to find them in rooms and just shoot from a distance, removing a lot of the threat.

It's arguably bad design since you're now getting hit by things off screen more, but for people who are experienced with the games it makes a lot of sense.

I guess the thread got to me after all, I got craves to play Eternal Darkness again.

I always thought it was deliberate for the REmake to have things just a bit different at places, mixing up the memory of fans of the original, especially with camera angles. I never had any issues with it.

can someone prompt me to REmake? I can't find it in google. Excuse my autism

...

If you had autism/assburgers you would have found too many torrents or DLs to choose from. So leave and come back once it's installed, you cunt.

...

gamestorrent.co/?s=resident evil just this once

...

...

Can u lend a nigga a seed

>wait nevermind it is there

its cool, I found it. I was just being retarded

Good. Regardless enjoy a great game.

Check skidrow's page

...

Is that game worth playing on an emulator? I've heard it does weird shit to your gamecube and it would suck to have those things ruined

...

It's just part of the "Sanity" mechanic, dont worry about it.

Well the sanity effects that are most fucky are based on the pre-HDMI televisions and such, but probably still worth it. Basically if you want to get the most out of the game the first time is don't recover your sanity too often.

The mansion is still one of the most atmospheric places in gaming.

Pokemon fire red and civilization 6.
Bought a N3DS with a shitload of games.
Of course.
idk, probably not.
I dont really care.
No.

BLOOD
Maybe Cucking Floor 2 to play with a friend.
Ironically it depends on how combat focused it is.
It's confirmed. I doubt it will be good.
Depends on the game.

Yomawari night alone was released earlier today. Anyone played it?

And pick xel'lotath. Green relic at the end of the roman stage. She makes your sanity deplete faster. The others are health (so hard mode) and magic.

HD version is easier than the gamecube version, because PC hard mode is the same as gamecube normal mode. Also option to turn off tank controls also makes it easier.

Ask in the Vita thread, someone has it there.

Its easier than the GC version? I can understand thanks to the implementation of 2D controls, but do the enemies just take longer to attack, do they have less health?

Currently at Theta in SOMA, someone tell me if I'm right and whether I should even bother continuing to play:

Catherine is WOOOW/Akers, using me to launch the ARK

have there been any decent, actually scary zombie games in the last couple of years? I've been playing Left 4 Dead 1&2 but want something a little more serious.

...

Yes

My nigga, Stubbs was the shit. Ashamed it never got a squeal. Still suprised zombie games haven't tried what Stubbs did by making the protagonist a zombie. I guess Dead Space would be one, wish there was more scary zombie games.

looks like a garbage photoshop

STALKER: SoC
top cuck, no
Yes
Hope not
Unlimited, I suck at video games
No. succubi

I finished Fran Bow earlier this month, but that's certainly not enough for the last spook week of the year. What should I try and play to get properly spooked while I still can?

I had to stop playing when it went night, that part freaked me out as a teen

Spooky as fuck man

I bought it. It's pretty damn spoopy.

You need the MEGA link, man?

Never heard about bit che before, damn this is nice

Actually, fuck what I just said. I'm gonna play Yomawari for spookyween.
Also, is the FEAR trilogy worth five bucks?

You bought Yomawari, or do you need the dump?

Nah, I'm grabbing the link off IGG.

Been playing Shadow Tower Abyss, the shotgun absolutely wrecks bosses.

Should I go to Illusion World or Moving Block World next?

If by FEAR trilogy you mean FEAR, Extraction point and Perseus mandate, sure.

Looking at how unsalvageably ridiculous the Resident Evil storyline has become, I think I would honestly prefer a reset or reboot over a sequel.

You're right about the last part

I can never tell if horror games have gotten worse or I've just gotten used to them.

I remember playing SH1 and 3 for the first time in my life and shitting my pants and wanting the games to just end and be over I was that scared. I don't think any games have captured the oppressive atmosphere of SH's otherworld

Nigga go back to the standard 4:3 ratio. The 16:9 is zoomed in and cropped so you barely see shit

Holy fuck I feel the same exact way. Speaking of the atmosphere of Silent Hill did anyone else get extremely depressed playing Silent Hill 2? I remember the first time I played it I could only play an hour or so a day because I got depressed. Something about the lonely shitty gray atmosphere really fucked with me. Silent Hill 2 seems like the only media that could actually make someone (who would have crippling depression beforehand) kill themselves like those shitty 'cursed video game' creepypastas.

That's a screenshot I found on google, user. I'm playing the game in 4:3. I'm not a degenerate

What the fuck? That's disgusting.

This isn't a horror game but its a good game.
Why the fuck would they change the control scheme from that awesome one to this completely garbage RE control scheme? FUCK. It had a good thing and lost it completely.

Bundle Stars is offering the entire series for five, and while that does unfortunately include FEAR 2 and 3, it does also include Extraction Point and Perseus Mandate.

They changed it because Resident Evil was massive at that time so they tried to latch onto the hype train.

It was the oposite for me, I hated the controls in PE1 and loved tank controls in PE2

Epic troll dude.

Why? It's true, I didn't like the way Aya moved in the first game. Still loved the game.

Who thought that would be a good idea in any game? Up should be up, not forward.

I know I'm replying to you and thereby giving you the attention you crave, but please just stop. Nobody is falling for it.

Its not even that I can't live with it in games where the devs might not have been smart enough to create a better control scheme. Its that they had a much more engaging and accurate control scheme that felt so much better, more accurate and faster than tank controls and they removed it just because. Though I agree with what you say.

Well not "playing" it, but the first time I stayed to listen to the end of the hallway monologue, it hit me fucking hard. I've been in similar spots in life a few times, where you say awful things to push people away while in reality you really want them to be there for you, but then itäs too late and you can never take it back.

Then it's well worth it.

Where does the money end up?

I checked it out quickly and looks like BS takes a cut from the sale and rest goes to publisher/dev depending on who has the contract with BS.

Oh cool! a little 2D horror ga-
Ok. What was censored? What was removed? And what bugs were introduced? Will it blow up my PC?

I can handle the controls but not the unlinked item boxes

Memes probably. I'd make a smart-ass comment but this is NISA we're talking about and their cancerous practices do not deserve the effort I'm willing to spend in coming up with one.

It look interesting

Fuck it, I'll try it. At the first meme/SJW shit I'll quit.

Nigger everyone's experienced some form of malaise or depression when playing SH2

I didn't. I first played it freshmen year in high school and was already living with crippling depression at the time. SH2 was a nice form of escapism that actually made me feel better, as I could strongly relate to James. I used to wish I could go to Silent Hill and face all of my anxieties and fears physically manifested, and either conquer them or die trying. Either outcome was okay

...

Any recommended spooky Doom2 wads?

Unloved is 10/10

Downloaded a torrent and crashes, anyone playing it?

Everyone at IGG appears to be having the same problem. It's probably a bad crack.

Nope, the game only works with directX 11 and that doesn't work with my old card.
I think it's pretty stupid that a 2d game needs DX11 to run but you know how it is.

It works on my win8 laptop, but it crashes upon saving. Definitely NISA at work.

I hope RE7 will actually be about a biohazard instead of spooky redneck ghosts.

If you finished F.E.A.R i suggest take a break before playing the expansions or you'll get bored by the same office level design again.

Any good horror shooters? Something like Serious Sam but where the enemies are monsters, but have it be spoopy.
Played SS2, loved it, need more.

Grey, Clive Barker's Undying/Jericho, the Suffering (TPS). If you specifically want serious sam gameplay though, the answer is obviously painkiller.

i also love SS series. but i don't know how the gameplay formula work with horror.

I guess painkiller series maybe?

Haven't try Grey or Jericho, beat both sufferings on the ps2 way back when, and I felt like painkiller dragged on.Undying felt sloppy in a lot of places and I couldn't trek through it. When I said serious sam, I meant that enemies would be varied and not just grunts reskinned as something scary.

So long as he's happy doing what he's doing is all that matters.

I think thats it really. Supernatural stuff can be scary, but its that idea of losing yourself and control of vital parts of yourself that is terrifying. It shows you're not even in control of you, and you just exist in the moment to suffer in absolute terror until you're dead and most likely resurrected to be forced to do horrific things for it, or to lose your mind and suffer horrors for eternity inside a cage made out of your own mind and greatest fears.

That place made me feel badass tbh. I break out of an enclosed testing area, made by seed secret government types and scientists, and end up wreaking havoc on the complex. Its the plot of a B movie film you see a dozen clones of on horror or scify channels, all condensed into a minor plot moment in game. It was nice.

that is a positively disgusting idea, user.

The closest thing that might have a creepy factor in that kind of game environment that I can think of is Unloved for Doom.
And SS2 was atrocious. The kind of game that is only playable online with other people in co-op.

Maybe he means Second Encounter?

I enjoy SS2 infinitely more than any other game in the series, but I did do both playthroughs with a friend in coop

What pisses me off the most about that game is that it starts off nice and then the whole game takes place in some shitty desert town.

What if Real Life is a horror game all by itself?

Truly the Berenstain Universe is one of unimaginable horrors.

All the conspiracy theories were true. I swear to fuck in a few months we get confirmation that Big Foot actually existed

Holy shit. What the fuck?
This fucking world we live in, I can't take this anymore.

Maybe Will Rock then ? The enemies are greek-mythology themed. Not even remotely meant to be spooky but it is supernatural. Some late guns are neat, too.

God damn it Capcom

Shit, now that's scary.

Just beat pic related two weeks ago. It was great fun. After a while it wasn't really that scary but it was certainly creepy and engaging the entire time.

I fucking love the Slayers. As a kid, they absolutely terrified me when I saw them in the trailer. I just wish the game didn't make them a basic enemy, kind of hurt the mystique.

Still, a really great game and I highly recommend checking it out.

Those nightdive studios fuckers try to exploit the strangest things.

Wait what? When? Also how did they get ahold of the D license? Acclaim is dead, the developers have been defunct since the new millenium, and even the creator of the game has been dead for 3 years.

The game is also easy to emulate, so I wonder why they didnt try bringing something else like Enemy Zero or D2.

Beats me. Makes this all the stranger, really.

Wow, this game was garbage. Instead of the meme gel obviously affecting Simon and the Omnitool or the WAU/Ross actually doing something that changes the outcome of the game, all I got was The Prestige: Scuba Edition

Not to mention the main character being an absolute retard, as well as the crew seemingly. WHAT DO U MEAN I'M NOT ON THE ARK U LIAR

Are horror games really dead?

...

I haven't played anything good since Cry of Fear. Even this shit has terrible writing so far

Have you played Grey yet? Not quite as good as CoF, and a bit shorter, but still good.

grey-mod.com/grey-mod.com/index.html

It was okay, more thrilling than anything. Something about floating zombie goasts with knives didn't really make me feel scared.

...

Shit, horrid wording friends.
I meant System Shock 2, since the theme was horror shooters.
but on the topic I loved the sheer scope of second encounter

I was 12 when I played the demo on the Shaolin Monks disc. Was scared shitless and couldn't move because of how creepy ties that bind was at that point in time for me.

Enemy Zero, maybe. D2 would be highly unlikely though, because that never had a Windows version, so it would actually require effort to port a DC game.

Pirate it.

I'd love D2 PC edition myself. Does it emulate well?

It's much harder in the beginning, thanks to crimson heads and a serious lack of ammo. But I think the late game is actually a lot easier than the original PS1 game (hunters are much weaker, for one thing).

I wanna expand a bit on the map crescent moon castle and release it before halloween. Any tips to add mods that make it more spooky? Or mods that add quests or nice items/skills. That would do too.

One of the quests I most liked from VtMB. While they talked I just acted all cocky and walked around as I passed the tests.

Wanted to share this with any other REfags. Earlier in the thread I was bitching about the sound in the Dual Shock version of Resident Evil Director's Cut. Well, someone made a patch that not only restores the original uncensored cut scenes it also restores the original music. I've been playing it on my modchipped PS1 and it's been pretty great finally playing what feels like an ultimate version of RE1. Check it out you can download the already patched ISO from this site (only place I've found it so far oddly and it seems like a new patch), that said I have AdBlock and NoScript so I don't know how cancerous the site is so enter at your own caution:
psxps1.blogspot.com/2014/08/resident-evil-uncut-alpha-release.html

Embeded is a comparison video complete with terrorist music and all.

I was just looking for a good excuse to replay RE1, tranks user.

Happy to spread it around. Enjoy that restored opening cutscene, something about it just feels so right and sets the game up perfectly in the uncensored version. I think it's the massive amount squibs going off.

I'll probably be called a retard but how do I download it?

The links only open a tab full of weird text

right click save as, they should just save as 7zip files .001 .002. I actually made the same mistake when I first tried to download it and it made my browser shit a brick.

Never mind I did it

Had to give up on Parasite Eve 2. RIP. My controller's R1 being terrible having a lot to do with it, but I will admit the controls and the direction the game took has just turned me off on playing it.

That gore, how big of an impact would this game have made if it had that left in the final product for western release?

Maybe ask the German market if you ever get the chance. They were the only ones who got an Uncensored version, and I'm not even sure that was the first release, that may have been their Directors Cut. Even in Japan the footage was in black and white and missing a few scenes. It's a real shame too because like I said it fits the game so fucking well and sets up exactly what you are getting yourself in to in a way that the black and white version really didn't. Plus the fucking colors in the video are great, it's like a PS1 game made real.

Damn, the world sure has changed.

You said it, apparently the impact of an uncensored Resident Evil in the 90's is massive cucking and abandoning all values in the 10's.

It's the same shit as Ultimate Director's cut, except it has shitty facebook links and some falafel-runes, it even cuts the colored intro the moment they start running to the mansion like UDC and even has the same song replaced. The question is who ripped off who.

I was actually hoping this would be a clean replacement to uncensor Resi1 instead of yet another faggot splooging their ego all over it without actually fixing the issue.

I think SOMA is best with the mod that just turns all monster neutral, they just wondering aimlessly. Surreal environment is what makes it then.

Though the story is nothing to write home about if you have ever thought a second about stream of consciousness or what defines "you".

I already bought the PSP version and the PC version

tcrf.net/Resident_Evil_(PlayStation)#Regional_Differences

Apparently that uncensored FMV is in the JP version.

The opening FMV which is what we're talking about (at least I am) is in black and white in Japan, which is censored.

Is it the same? I don't see the "deranged" mode mentioned in the post, or is it just that he changed around arranged? That said the title screen sure looks like it so I don't doubt it.

Other than that, it is the same.

If I knew how to properly rebuild the iso, I'd do it myself. I'm in the process of reading about it and see what I can do.

If anyone knows anything, help is much appreciated.

I'm actually downloading it to make it now since I was curious. Once I finish I'll upload it to a file sharing site. I'll also check and see if it's the same. I honestly bet it is just because of the title screen, which makes me feel pretty embarrassed for posting it.

Alternatively you could take the German or French ISO and put the Eng text.

emuparadise.me/Sony_Playstation_ISOs/Resident_Evil_(G)/52723

I may look in to hacking it myself at some point but for now I'll just stick with the Ultimate Director's Cut. Still I would like a version without a tweaked Arrange mode. Putting English in the German release doesn't sound like the best answer and it doesn't feature all the uncut cutscenes as well. To save on time I'd just hack the original non-Dual Shock version of the Director's Cut. It's got the original music, all it needs to be good to go is the cut scenes, and I bet slipping them in won't be too hard. After testing you're absolutely right they're the same. I'm going to delete my old post out of pure shame. Can't believe I got tricked by a sand merchant.

don't worry about were the money goes. Because the developer gets NONE of it, it all goes to the publisher Warner Bros. Just pirate if you care that much, or buy it if you don't care/

Is it good? It's getting rereleased on steam.

Play it on PS1 or 3DO. Don't bother with the steam rerelease. It's an alright game if you got 1 hour to spare.

Something tells me getting a 3DO is more of a hassle than getting it from steam and refunding if it's just an hour long

Emulate it! The game is entirely FMV. Use 4DO for that, or just get the PS1 version. The DOS version (Aka steam) is inferior in quality.

Here, I'll help.

this nigga cares about D, thanks user

Well I'm fucking flattered m8. I'll make sure to play it, thanks.

Damn right I do. I'm not letting some kikes who just happened to take over the license make money with Kenji Eno's work after his death, while also putting zero effort and not even porting D2. Besides, a fellow user who loves horror games deserves to play the best version available.

You're most welcome user.

You're welcome.

The game's been on GOG for ages, so it should be easy to find a DRM-free version.

Oh and if anyone would care for more recent jap horror, check out "Bathroom." It's still in development but you can check the demo.

Forgive the embed, my connection is way too shit to upload anything right now.

I just posted it.

It's neat, but has aged like shit. Play it at 3x speed, don't forget to find all the bugs.

pls respond

Slow day huh? Doesn't help you're talking about Autismcraft.

That is astounding how that got through Germany.

Would be kind of pointless to play a Japanese Horror adventure if you can not into Japanese, would it?

Forgot to say that someone is in the process of translating it. Shouldn't take too long I hope.

...

...

So, now that the halloween sale is finally happening, is there anything worth picking up? If you ask me, the sales don't seem all that interesting or great.

I see nothing really outstanding that I don't already have.

Get REmake

Would you be so kind and watch the video past the first 30 seconds?

How is the steam release of RE4? I hear the controls suck.

Would be as good a time as any, as this is the deepest discount it has received to date.

The controls in the normal PC port are shit, but they fixed them in the HD re-release. As for how good that is, well, I enjoyed it enough to 100% it, which I can't say about many other games.

5 days later, and what do you know, the complete edition is on sale for 15 dollarydoos. Downloading it right now, fucking excited.

Also how the fuck is this 30gb? This is bigger than 4, 5 and 6 combined

I'll be honest, the hipster looking bitch put me off that game for a while but they had the first episode down as free on psn a while back so I game it a go and it's actually not too bad.
Still could have done without the hipster though.

Barry's daughter was a cunt and completely worthless as a character. I also hated her personality and her inability to use weapons because "violence is bad" and just runs around holding a flashlight like some dumb bitch.
At least the little girl that follows Barry around on his levels throws a brick and points out enemies hiding around corners which makes her a thousand times more useful.

There's a reason for Moira not using guns, it's kind of a spoiler though.

She's in a live or die situation and she should probably stop being a pussy about it, but there is a reason.

I know that Moira "accidentally" shot her sister but that is still a stupid reason for not using a gun when you're surrounded by monsters while stranded on an island.

Nah, I get your point. I just want to think that her trauma was that bad, otherwise she's entirely irredeemable.

That's my whole point. She is irredeemable and you are just trying to see some some kind of light at the end of the tunnel but you refuse to acknowledge you're blind.
Barry's daughter is an unlikable character and almost made me drop the game at first. The best part about REvelations 2 was playing as Barry for the 1st time in the series outside of mercenaries and the chronicles games. Other than that the game was mediocre through-and-through.

Not blind. Just very near-sighted.

Here's hoping that she won't be back to be honest. Maybe as a cameo some time.

Will the thread make it to halloween?

No

It just passed the bump limit, so yeah, it's not gonna make it.

For those playing Yomawari's Night alone with a DS4. I made a small Playstation button mod and a small mod to the NISA logo. Put that shit in the data folder inside the game folder.

Painkiller is a horror themed Serious Sam

Loada fun, brutally hard too
