FUCK YES
although I'll just use an sd card prolly

So at this point, does disc based media have any advantages over cards?

Just post in the ones that exist.

Not a single one. Carts even more secure, and break less. Blue ray stops working after one fucking scratch.

Its not a thread about the NX and its not a general about the NX. Its a specific thread about the NX using cartridges.

Soon, I'll need an external disc drive just to install my collection of older games. Then, eventually, modern OS's won't even be able to install games off of discs. I should get a computer with XP now and take good care of it.

Blurays are unscratchable.

I would post a picture of some of mine to prove you wrong but i'm lazy

Correct. I have backed up extra old computers from used computer shops (some sell pretty cheap depending how old they are / harddrive space). I also have a few extra VHS & DVD players just encase they become obsolete in the future. That way I will always be able to watch my "old" video collections.

I recommend others do the same. Flashdrives are fine for storage, but I have so much more backed up on DVD disks (got dozens of thick binders full of them) that I would be crazy not to have backup mediums to utilize those discs in the future.

Also, do backup old operating systems like Linux and Windows XP.

except Nintendo hasn't used DVDs or Blurays, just proprietary discs made by Panasonic

Free copies of Windows XP here: 8ch.net/purgewin10/res/2.html

Backup Linux OS distributions here: 8ch.net/killcen2015/res/2.html

They are cheaper.

But are they cheap enough to justify the larger physical size, longer load times and how fragile they are?

How about you stop being a mongoloid

Not anymore, modern flash ROM cartridges are cheaper to produce enmasse than BDs.

About time really. Hell I haven't even had any kind of optical drive on my PC for over 5 years now, there's just no need for it period.

Feels bad.

...

Take care of your discs, buy binders for them, don't let them sit around collecting dust on a table. Discs get ruined easily but binders are an easy solution.

You don't need one for your digital app store full of F2P, mobile and early access shit.

Probably not, Nintendo never really were 'media systems' in the same vein as Sony and to a lesser extent microsoft.

That's the one thing that pisses me off about linux, you need an internet connection to install most stuff. However, this is not the case with an older Linux OS itself. You can still partition drives and install the OS offline and make use of what is already installed on there.

The only thing I use Linux now for anyway is to store media and use media offline. It works just fine for that purpose.

Source, you lying faggot

...

Who gives a shit? Just buy HDDs for your futa porn and SDDs for your games

Get Slackware. It works completely offline.

Got back to using physical in 2014, as publishers started to deciding for me, which PC games I may launch (!) in my region.
Others switched from CD-DA to Vinyl.

...

Hey that guy actually posted the dev kit, he wasn't lying.

I'd argue that saving something in the cloud has a less likely chance to be loss than backing up to physical.

yeah I wish it would come on one small card

They could put the Bluray into the box and the download key for the fags without a drive and everybody would be happy.
Instead they put a 8MB DVD there with a Steam Install Downloader.

Until datacaps are globally illegal; physical media needs to exist. Even ignoring datacap physical media needs to exist to preserve content.

Discs get scratched no matter what bud
Cases are a big part of them, sadly, especially the ones with the jew-tier plastic cut-outs

They probably won't hold back and will have them be up to 75gb, unless the e-shop is a thing again. It would be easy (and efficient) if Nintendo could have you back up your data to your Switch (such a stupid fucking name) and after you transfer your game to your device, then it would LOCK your cartridge to your console.

It sounds awful to the consumer, but handy for Nintendo, due to anti-piracy/counterfeit and shit.

Why don't you just make multiple copies of your files to cover all your bases? I got all my shit stored on my hard drive, with the stuff I don't mind the NSA seeing duplicated on the cloud, and a flash drive, external drive, and a stack of CDs to make duplicates of the stuff I really like and don't want to lose

Because a fire will burn them all. Or a moving accident, or a shelf collapse, or a nigger thief.
If you do hardcopy backup then you need to look at keeping copies of your copies in different physical locations. Different houses. Self storage facility. Otherwise one fire and you're done.

This is a terrible idea unless you keep them in an airtight container filled with argon gas. There are moving parts inside DVD and especially VHS players that require lubrication. After a decade of sitting around it loses its efficiency by gunking up. In 2030 you'll put a cassette in and hear it be ripped to shreds loudly.

If you want to do this get well maintained high end production level equipment and keep it in proper storage not some cheap VHS players from walmart your aunt threw out or you found on the curb. Those are worthless now and will still be worthless 50 years from now. Check out places that deal in electronics recycling or bankruptcy sales for good deals.

Also in 2030+ just hooking these old players with analog connectors to a display will be an ordeal since they're trying hard to plug the 'analog hole'.

If you're retarded enough to have a fire in your house, you don't deserve it in the first place.

That's no way to talk about your birth, but to each his own.

Even if datacaps were illegal, the infrastructure simply can't bear 10+ million 130 GB CoDs. That's 1.3 million terabytes of traffic at minimum for a AAA release.
There is nothing with more bandwidth than a truck full of hard drives.

That's what fire victims said.
Not funny. Apply yourself. Try again with a different anime picture perhaps.

Micro SD cards can match the capacity of a quad-layer blu ray and its the size of your pinky nail.

Now, that itty bitty thing only costs as much as it does because it's been miniaturized so damned much. If you don't worry about size as much, a cartridge can store far more than a blu-ray, with better read speeds, and lower production costs.

Yes, this is the event that marks the end of DVDs. Not the fact that nobody has bought a fucking DVD player in a decade. Not the fact that DVDs max out in resolution at less than half of the average consumer's TV set. Not that the fact that the average game is over 50G in size but a dual-layer DVD only holds 8G of data. Not the fact that even consumer computers don't have optical drives anymore. This one game console that isn't out yet has killed them.

...

Some things I thought of after watching the tralier

definitely going to be interesting, the question is, will the 3rd party support be enough to keep the thing afloat? Will the exclusives not be few and far between like the Wii U, and will any of them actually be worthwhile enough to play

Flash cards can't hold data. Per specification they last anywhere from 1 to 10 years before becoming empty again.

It could handle it in spades using p2p. Instead they go about it in the most inefficient manner possible because of licensing that require DRM to be in place. The same movie or show is streamed to thousands of users from a few data centers at the same time instead of letting the users share the exact same data amongst themselves.

Why would you buy a game in a case specifically designed to destroy it? Nigger, if they wanted to save plastic they'd cut holes in literally any other part of the box. Instead they remove it from the single functional section of the box.

pick one

Exactly, you don't buy them, or change cases if anything
Publishers are some really evil fuckers i tell you what
Also fucks the printed art

I'm expecting sub WiiU sales, and I have no idea how Nintendo expected anything else, even the visual quality of the games shown so far has looked WiiU tier, oh and there's no way the nips who traditionally build for Vita because it's handheld will go for the Switch.

I detect significant financial losses for Nintendo once again.

At least they showed off New 3d Mario, even though it looked more like Mario Kazooie than 3d Mario.

Nintendo Market.

P2P makes matters worse by clogging up infrastructure.
You don't understand CDNs, they work pretty well - unlike P2P which kills bandwidth everywhere.

user….you just gave me an idea that I think just fucking broke me.

This is going to be the home console that puts nintendo back on the map, by next year every user on Holla Forums is going to have a nintendo switch in their hands.

Was it this idea?

Only at the demo kiosk, it's not going to sell, I wish they'd show what games were coming out for it, even an amazing launch couldn't put the system anywhere.

Well, you sort of gave me an epiphany of sorts, I want to keep this idea to myself until I can git gud and draw it better. Unless you want me to tell you now.

Wait, waht
IS THIS THE NX?

I might be dead before you show it off, tell me.

I think it's Frog Fractions 2.

NOPE!
The only advantages optical discs ever had was affordability

This became moot since SSD makers aggressively marketed solid state storage in order to drive down the prices dramatically do to scales of economics.

Now it costs next to nothing to manufacture NAND flash chips and even less to produce chip ROMs

Either way, it wasn't Nintendo that necesarilly killed optical media, optical media is already on its way out the door, modern high-end and "luxury" laptops don't even include disc drives anymore, they put SSD slots where the disc drives would be

Yes, just like the ancient leaks said
No touchscreen thou, at least not confirmed

So you didn't look at the trailer at all?

Meanwhile my 20 year old Playstation memory cards still have my saves. Flash drives from college ten years ago still work, despite being sub-1GB pieces of Chinese shit. My CompactFlash cards still work.

why is this board filled with retards

You miss the point

Flash storage has a set absolute amount of write cycles, if your flash shit still works it just means you hardly wrote to them and did more reading to them

THE MOST EXCITING DAY OF THE WEEK HAS FLANALLY CUM
so, how shit is it?
Also this is apparently the only thread for it, you'd think Holla Forums would be more excited about new hardware.

This, the launch catalog needs to be amazing, as in more than just Zelda and Mario, for it to go anywhere, it needs a killer app, The Wii U had no such thing until at least Splatoon, and by then the thing's fate was sealed anyway, lack of backwards compatibility could also present an issue

The entirety of the past 20 years and the proliferation of cheap flash memory?

You going to refute me or just be a faggot?

which is why you make game cartridges ROM flash, dumbass.

remember Holla Forums, dvds and blurays are only ever used by videogames

Kill yourself.

yamauchi sounds like he was an idiot
N64 had glaring limitations as a result of using carts at that time

...

Eh… uh…
I think it looks cool, but I don't know if I'd buy it until it was half off at GameStop or some other secondhand electronics store. It would make a nice peripheral to current games lineup, you know, for taking my PC games on long trips and such, but that's assuming it could play PC games, which I very much doubt it can. It's just not worth the price for me otherwise.
It'll still put Nintendo back on the map, but the target demographic is gonna be normalfag families looking for a new "home entertainment system", not anons like you or I.

Are we being fucking brigaded by mentally ill children or something?

I did, Mario Switch looked like 3D world with a larger environment and Breath of the Wild looked like Breath of the Wild.

Not to mention that the NX carts are roms.

I think it has something to do with you posting here.

It didn't stop PS4 from being a success, and at least these ports look to have new content, New outfits/hairstyles and levels in Splatoon Switch and King Boo in Mario Kart 8 Switch.

There were a bunch of threads, i've seen 6 or 7, one was a sticky
It's shit unless Nintendo pulls some magic, very small processor
Basically it seems to be a poorman's Wii U but portable

It has so many gimmicks it makes vita look like a normal console.

The only limitations it had were do to having less storage space than CDs, despite these limitation the N64 still pulled off better graphics, although it did have better hardware than the PS1

When it comes to movies and TV shows, DVD may as well be dead other than for small releases or bootlegs, Blurays may cost more but they keep up resolution wise

My only problem with them in general is that the space is fucking wasted in that barely anyone has extras like commentary or behind the scenes, though this is more of a Holla Forums issue than a Holla Forums one

Nintendo games?

Sure.

Real games?

No. (I'm pretty sure a 128Gb cart is still more expensive compared to blurays).

I literally used mine once to install Windows 7 and then never again. That OS is also the only reason why any of my future PC builds would have a disc drive unless Win10 uncucks itself which is not happening ever.

I'm not going to do shit
You're talking out of your ass saying blatantly false shit without backing it up
I would bring up burden of proof being on you, but your claim is too fucking dumb we all know you've got nothing

Can you stop sperging out for just a moment and actually read who I was replying to?

It's about a Chihuhua and a Hummingbird, I want to call it "Guita-Rheesta". Like a genderbent Banjo-Kazooie, but tiny size.

Yooka-Laylee seems like a sort of "Yesman" duo, and that bothers the fuck out of me, knowing how much of a smug bitch Kazooie is. I'd like the hummingbird to have bushy brows like Red from the Angry birds movie and have a sort of Gilbert Gottfried feel on his voice, while Guita, the Chihuahua, would have voice sample similar to Sandy Cheeks from Spongebob, or something above those lines.
As I said earlier, I'd like the Hummingbird to be an absolutely dick, constantly getting the due in trouble and self-inflicted boss fights against things from Aztec/Mayan Legends and Mexican lore in general.

Damn, it looks so good in my head.

This is apparently some of the companies that have pledged 3rd party support already.

If it's flash, then you are right on the money.

They gotta keep it under 16 or 32gb.

Because they used older kinds of flash ROM and manufacturing processes.

With more polygons, larger textures, more advanced lighting systems, etc.
To keep parity with the Wii U version of the game, much like the Wii version of TP looked exactly like the GC version.

I like it
follow your dreams

The PS4 was also agressively marketed, Sony knew if they could just brute force their way into the minds of normal fags like MS did with the 360, they would have a shot, it was pretty risky since M$ fanboys love their gamerscore, avatars and other meaningless shit, but through good old fashioned brainwashing advertisement they kicked the shit out of the XBone, that assumed it would get all of the 360 fags, and the Wii U, which had a 1 year head start with a terrible launch and lost out anyway

I know Nintendo, or at least NoA can't into marketing, so unless there's an absolutely amazing launch catalog that does the advertising for them, they're dead, thats my point

I'm not even a third worlder/American and I still prefer physical games.

PSN prices are shit.

It should have, but it's arguable
the texture filtering and so called "anti-aliasing" turned everything into a washed out grey blur

I did check the thread, user. There was like one other thread with one reply mentioning the Switch, but it looked like a cheap Chinese knock-off, so I thought it was a joke.
That aside, prolonged exposure to Holla Forums inhibits your capability to enjoy video games.

Is it powered by one of the newer Tegra processors? As < 10W TDP solutions go, these are actually quite impressive.

To be fair, Initially strong 3rd party support only to be subsequently dropped is exactly what we saw with the Wii U, so I wouldn't hold out that they can sustain themselves on 3rd party titles wholly, I say they make as much money off of ports of stupid shit like Skyrim or Asscreed and use that money to develop some must have titles exclusively for the system

Thank you (:

Well of course they did
It was the fucking 90s
What the fuck are you even trying to say?

How does this make any sense? Even major companies have used P2P to distribute large amounts of data using client's computers, that recent Windows 10 update everybody hates is a good example.

www.computerworld.com/article/2906810/microsoft-seeds-windows-7-81-pcs-with-windows-10-upgrade-nag-notices.html

Sharing with others on the same local IP range does the opposite of clogging up infrastructure. Microsoft rented fat pipes in internet exchange points throughout the world to make sure this would work properly.

You mean a network of data centers? Yeah I mentioned them in my post.

But I'm not? NAND based flash memory has been expanding since the mid-2000s and even Nintendo's own DS and 3DS cartridges show that it's profitable to produce cartridges using today's technology. Flash memory prices have been falling since 2005 and they're continuing this trend, see archive.is/Hc1MW as an example.
I don't know why you seem to think I'm lying to you when you have proof all around you of how easy it is to mass produce flash memory nowadays.

Speculation runs from that it's possibly a K1 based Tegra or even an X1 or some sort of inbetween X1 and X2. Some people even claim it'll have Pascal support.

Isn't this the exact same shit that DS and Vita has been using for years? The NS is more of a portable console anyway so how the fuck is this the return of carts?

This is why I love this board.

Fuck off Ninten-toddler faggot!

I've seen this thrown around A LOT in the past few days. What the fuck is going on? What sort of meme is this?

Fuck off Ninten-toddler faggot!
No one wants to hear it

...

For Major Consoles

Free shit.

e d g y

It's a creamy meme

Sounds fun, too bad Yooka Laylee has shit designs all round, some of the levels look nice though.

No the lighting looks the same, I know it's more powerful we know it's running on a Tegra X1, but also what a lot of people forget is that 3d World could have done larger environments with farther draw distances, some of the levels showed off the whole level so the increase in content on screen is nothing. The Mexican Day of the Dead stuff looked nice, I'm ready for atypical locales.

I'm going to believe we have improved visual quality when they actually show off games, and Breath of the Wild better be 60fps with aa and a farther draw distance.

We all know that's not going to happen, that 3d Mario game is def not launch, they didn't show of Pikmin 4 so that's probably not launch, and no Smash Switch, which is the one thing I thought we would see.

Yep.
Bittorrent is great. Guy should have gotten the Nobel prize.

But we live in a world of capitalist piggies and Jews.

Underage pls, when CD-ROM took over the largest console cartridge in existence was like one tenth of the capacity in addition to costing 20 times more to manufacture.

Again, thats my point, unless they can pull of a phenomonal launch, its a flop before it's even began, It is a cool litle machine though, and i look forward to when we eventually crack it wide open like the 3DS and can enjoy unrestricted Piracy and other hombrew apps, I'd love to play doom on it on the go

Are you stupid?

user, it's a console and it's replacing the Wii U.

The desperation is strong in you.

It's a tablet with NVIDIA Graphics™ and wireless joysticks.

Will the Switch feature online pachinco?

That's exactly why I want to work on this shit. Not to stroke my own cock, but some of the ideas I hatch, just feel so full of life, of character, they are FILLED with entertainment, charm and that jolly feeling you just don't feel anymore.

I just need to apply myself and learn 3D Modeling/Coding and shit. I can make a small private demo, pitch it to a studio and see what works.
I can barely draw though, we all gotta start somewhere, right?

So still no official word on that?
In any case, I'm glad at least one of the major video game hardware manufacturers managed to pull its head out of its own ass and realized that the economical future of video games lies in small, portable multimedia systems.

I'm never getting used to that.

Funny this will be an excuse not to put dual audio in games.

And there will be Nintendo fans saying that "it's all about the gameplay you don't need dual audio, prerendered cutscenes and flac".

N64 flashback.

get ready for "We replaced few character costumes and dialogue to save space for amazing english localization and voice work"

Whaaaaaat?
Explain.

Isn't ADX and a couple of other extensions already lossless?

Oh fuck no.

The only official word is that it runs on a Tegra of some kind.
blogs.nvidia.com/blog/2016/10/20/nintendo-switch/

...

Is it the super new bleeding edge tegra? Hahhaha.

tfw Switch-tan will be a cuteboy switch

Instead of that nonsense you could have made a mildly humorous post saying that the next console would have the games stored on amiibos.

Too be honest, the fact it runs on an Nvidia chip already makes it superior hardware wise to Sony and Microsofts AMD Jaguar based trash

No it won't.

It's going to be a horny Neogaffer and you know it.

If your game is larger than 32GB, take your 20GB of uncompressed voice acting and shove it straight up your lazy asshole.

Disgusting. Disks are the industry standard for media formats because of their faster read/write speeds and larger file capacity. Not to mention they're cheaper to produce.
If you're worried about scratches either take care of your fucking stuff better or ask to go the way of the PSP and put a plastic case over the disk.

God, that's a lot of data user!~
My asshole will be a working asshole if I'm going to insert it that deep!~

Nigga you what?

Are you some sort of retard?
Nobody is saying prices haven't gone down drastically. Nobody is saying it isn't easy to produce. It's about the stuff being expensive compared to just pressing a goddamn bluray disc.

Bluray has faster read/write speeds than SD

...

I'll draw him myself if need be

32GB is plenty of storage space though, the games with those outfits you want won't go over that, it's weaker than Xbox one PS4.

>Disgusting. Disks are the industry standard for media formats because of their faster read/write speeds [citation needed] and larger file capacity. [dubious]

jaguar are (terrible) CPUs
tegra is a gpu
what are you even talking about

Give him a buttplug

...

The Tegra is an SoC (System on Chip) that includes the Tegra ARM processor and a Geforce based GPU

Can the move be used for rectal purposes?

my bad
though I don't trust ARM to pack any sort of punch, even if jaguar was a joke as a cpu

Why yes it can.

It's interesting to see how it'll work out.
AMD had a good run providing the hardware for Sony's and Microsoft's Gen 8 consoles, but I think it's betting on a losing horse. I like to imagine that they try to carve out their own market with the new x86-64 "culv" APUs for people that'd like to play PC games on the go, but without either brand prestige or application support, I imagine they'll fall on hard times, again.

Oh goodie!

BDs cost dollars per disc to press, at least when they were first made
wesleytech.com/blu-ray-vs-hd-dvd-replication-costs-revealed/111/
Sandisk SD cards (which are the basis of 3DS flash ROM) costs a few cents per unit.

I'm sure that cost has gone down.

that's my fetish

Not to match SD card production costs.

You didn't look very hard then. We had two stickies and several other threads, they're still in the catalog.
archive.is/jTOvD
archive.is/w6yFB
archive.is/u1eEd

Intel Atoms can already do that, AMD is, once again, late to the party, the only thing Atoms are lacking is proper marketing, but I'm sure after AMD releases their APUs Intel is going to kick their marketing team into high gear advertising Atoms as good portable gaming platforms

BD costs were high in the beginning
shocker
and now you're bringing up the 3DS' tiny romcarts?
I am willing to be convinced, but this is not the way to do it
what does a 64gig romcart cost to produce?
what does a 50gig BD cost to produce?

...

No I said Sandisk SD cards, which are the basis of said carts.
A few cents, as I said.
Probably around a dollar.

While 1 bonus is the SD adapter is probably cheap as all fuck, but surely they could get Blu Ray discs to be cheaper than 50c.

That's the cost we really need to see.

That sounds pretty cool. You should go for it

Woah dude, throwing feces is kinda rude.

user, only porn has such power to dictate the direction of an medium.

Nigger what?
The home video porn industry has been dead since 1996
Who the fuck still rents porn on DVD when the internet is free?

Consider the Following; Normalfag's do.

Who gives a fuck about blu ray porn, everyone gets it of the net these days.

That's why DVD is still a thing.

Maybe if we were in the early 2000s or earlier but if you pay for porn nowadays you are retarded.

And no, even said "normalfags" fucking know the Internet is for porn.

Even my grandma can work Google

No, they do not

What warped version of reality do you live in? The complete opposite of normalfags still rent porn on home video. The only people who still do are pervy old men. Please go to any place in the fucking outside world and everyone talks about watching porn on the internet

You have no idea how much this little compliment means to me.

I'm going to get off Holla Forums now and work on my drawings, Thank you user, from the bottom of my heart.

If this is true that might be very good. It would drive the costs down A LOT
Honestly I'm kinda optimistic, it all depends on how they price it.

Wait, but isn't Atom discontinued?
Broxton has been flat-out cancelled, and the last non-SoC Atom has been released sometime during 2013 afaik.

which are tiny and therefore cheap
can we get some exact numbers here? this is stupid

How does that not fall under "affordability"? All you just said was that CDs were cheaper storage than cartridges at the time.

yeah, and they use their real name email to pay for it online. I don't remember the name of that daiting site that got hacked (madison?), a leak of emails of old political driven normalfags who pay for porn.

Emily Rogers said touch screen, every other detail was correct, why would that detail be wrong.

I can tell you a little about a thing called "on chip encryption". It's been around for a while, but it has mostly found it's use in external HDs or memory sticks. This is simply a "on chip passthrough" security measure. The way it works is that:
You have a fysical chip on the medium that has a decryption key to the memory chip. And the data on that memory is encrypted by this unique factory set key. This is very hard to crack because all factory set keys are obviously different. And if online verification is needed, duplicates are deemed pirate copies.
This is normally bypassed by just copying the whole encrypted data to a medium that has no decyption chip. However this is probably a good antipiracy measure because it takes some time to crack and crackers (and pirates) have to have hardware or cracked devices to make copies.
Anyway, better than denuvo, that taxes hardware every minute you play for profits.

No, you're confusing the Atom SoC line with the traditional Atom line (confusing I know)

In fact, the Intel Xeon Phi is expected to use Atom Cores, the current chip in the Atom line is the Cherry Trails, and this will be followed by an Atom based on Skylake

Posted from an Atom tablet by the way

Yeah, cheapskate corps offload bandwidth cost to someone else to save costs.
Nope, you don't even know what a CDN is and how it works.

bruh im sure you'll still be able to buy their jewish-priced eshop games too if you want.

also, does it have usb slots on it in addition to sd card reader? for external HDDs?
If their games are 40GBs like games nowadays it better work.

I also wanted to add that the Atom Cherry Trails chip cam out in 2015 and Bay Trails came out in late 2013 to early 2014. You really need to find a new source of information other that skewing the opening section of a Wikipedia page

sage because doulbepost

You're welcome.

Production costs tho.

cause i like little cuteboys that can ride as well as be ridden

...

yeah like the only reason blu-rays are more expensive is because all the new shit is a dvd+blu-ray combo pack and people still buy dvds for some reason.

...

Well considering the the screen portion has to be in the console for you to play on a tv i doubt it will have a touch screen.

No Linux drivers for this thing. I tried running Ubuntu on it and the touch screen and wifi didn't work. If the most normalfag distro didn't have the drivers in the repos I don't know what will. I'd rather have Linux on here because GNU/Linux lets you boot a 64-bit kernel with a 32-bit UEFI whereas Windows does not meaning I'm stuck with 32-bit Windows even though this is a 64-bit processor

Possible joke vector.

Does anybody remember in red vs blue(yes i know it's shit now but I'm talking the early series) when that one guy had the switch between his legs?

Probably a shit joke but I'm just brainstorming.

/int/olerant faggots have been trying to force this meme since forever. Anyone who uses it can reliably be considered to be a part of that group. ?/int/, Holla Forums and /int*/ are all the same group of self hating trannies that really, really hate Holla Forums and want nothing more then to spam flood opinions they don't like.

Well considering that Emily Rogers correctly predicted every other detail I doubt they will be wrong on this one arbitrarily.

Well then tell me how the fuck you would use the touch screen when its in the console? Fuck off emily.

What I want to know, is the handheld screen usable as a second screen like wii u and DS?
And, if so, 3DS/DS backwards compatibility upscaled to HD on tv pls?

Possible disk-reader add-on for Wii U backwards compatibility?

Also, is touch screen resistive or capacitive?

Really long stylus.

The same way you use the touch screen on a 3DS while both your hands are using the buttons.

No the screen part has to be in the console for you to play on the tv.

The base isn't the console, user, and one could say that the tablet would just stream video to the base and have the "top screen" be the TV.

Maybe it can wirelessly link to the dock? the dev kit shown did have a cable to link the dock and the system similar to the one that linked the WiiU and the gamepad.

The screen is covered you retards.

Says who? The tablet part could very well have a wireless connection to the base.

You could at least have tried castrated Win7
8ch.net/tech/w7tele.html

Really long stylus with ghost properties.

That's what I'm thinking, and base probably doubles as charging dock.

In May, I said Nvidia was involved with the system. (Source)
The screen is around 6 inches (6.2 to be specific)
The portable screen has a 720p resolution.
Multi-touch touchscreen (Haven’t heard anything about a stylus.)
32 GB of internal storage is on the NX dev kit. (They may increase storage to 64GB for the final retail unit, but I doubt it.)
There is an SD Card port.
Dock Station has at least 2 USB ports on prototype. Not sure about final product.
NX will support Unreal Engine 4 and Unity engine
NX is below Xbox One and PlayStation 4 in raw power.
Dev kits and prototypes are region free. I heard retail units will be region free too.
Nintendo still plans to support the 3DS with software through 2018.

I can't get over how terrible the controller looks.

Do you really think the screen part has the power to output 1080 video to a tv while putting whatever resolution video on its own screen on battery power? The base itsself has no power of its own.

I should have annotated this but region free, good.

yes

Believable considering the Tegra is ARM based and the 3DS is too.

...

I actually like the design of the unit itself, it reminds me of the Thinkpad design somewhat. The controllers can get zyklon'd though. I hope I can use my Wii U pro controller instead.

Terrible like aesthetically, or to hold?
Aesthetically I think the whole console is one of the ugliest ever made. Sega's consoles were so beautiful..

Perhaps base has other processor for better resolution and to save power?

well then you're fucked because

says that nvidia confirmed its less powerful than the xbone which can barely put out 900p to one screen.

So where in the world do you charge the tablet? The thing isn't going to run on standard AA batteries that you have to replace. That would be suicide.

I think he meant computing power, not AC power.

I think he meant processing power, m8

The Xbone also ran on completely different architecture and was made by Microshaft.

My point was that it's used situationally. A game can either prompt you to remove the system from the dock, replicate touch functionality with analog controls, or simply gloss over whatever segment might require touch input. Many 3DS games do one or more of these.

Guess that means they'll have to make fun games again

Seems like it doesn't.
gonintendo.com/stories/267107-ign-switch-amiibo-supported-dock-details-nintendo-quiet-on-t

The former. There's like no common design element that holds the device together thematically, icon aside.
It looks like you bought a Bluetooth controller and a one-size-fits-it-all docking station for your 100$ no-name phablet and threw it all together.

The xbone is also a huge box with a proper gpu inside, not some tegra mobile shit.

Nintendo Switch ProDock, with a built in GPU for games in 1080p.

You heard here first!

That would just be pointless waste anyway, the Tegra x1 is enough power, what I'm mostly interested in is how cheap it is, and considering the Shield Tablet was $200 I think Nintendo could beat that price, but probably won't thanks to jew.

Holy shit. You people really are thick.
Watch the trailer. It drops frames like a bitch during the Breath of the Wild segment, so one could fucking assume that the dock serves a function, apart from charging:

It has fucking hardware in it, as if there wasn't the game would either stutter on the TV or run silky smooth on handheld.

The chip also goes into the handheld section.

Couple these together, and you would have to wirelessly stream the game to the base, have all of the TV screen's shit done across TWO FUCKING SETS OF HARDWARE and on top of that show a 2nd screen.

It says provides power AND charges. If it was a nip, it was lost in translation, because why would they say it charges the handheld, then gives it power?

You're a dickhead, too.

I'm a retard.

Do you drag your discs across sandpaper? I have fucking CDs from the 90s and they are in perfect condition.

Seems worded ambiguously,

I agree

you realize that every time you see an external video recording of a screen, that that screen footage is edited in later?

I wonder why they didn't use the streaming tech they licensed for the Wii U in the tablet to beam the image to a chromecast-type HDMI dongle for TV viewing. I presume in that situation you'd be sitting on the couch with the charger plugged in, so battery life wouldn't be an issue, and it would avoid the cost of the big ass docking station.

They're offering different controllers versus the JoyCons, as the Splatoon eSport players were using a pro controller, and the guy playing Skyrim was using another variant of the pro controller.

Enough power for what? Certanly not to support new games coming out for the next 5 years.

Probably because the system has to drop processor speed to conserve battery power.

providing power as in powering the system you dummy.

What about a simple upscaler in the dock?

How much do Amiibo's cost? And what kind of stuff do they unlock?

Wii U launched at $300 - $350 USD, and flopped like a fish over price.
They'd have to sell it for sub-250 to make it that much more appealing to normal console buyers, and the games would have to be cheap and good quality (Like $40-60 tops, AUD. I don't know USD conversion off the top of my head.) in order to appeal to PC users to switch (Hahaha kill me) to it.

The fact they've got things like Skyrim and NBA on there tells me they'll be getting a lot of last-gen games ported to simply have a large amount of launch games. Apparently it runs anything on UE4 or Unity, so that's neato.

It's a translation of a nip, by the wording.
Also, why would they edit the screen of the TV on an angle, but not the screens of the tablet facing straight on? Why would they show it stutering if they didn't have to?

I'm sorry, if you can't see the problem in that statement, you should go back to high school, friendo.

Too much.
Not enough.

Maybe but upscale from what resolution? 720p? Less than that? Thats kind of shitty.

About 15 bucks and they're pretty much shit for unlocks. Mostly costumes or power ups. Pretty much get one if you want to look at it.

It's as bad as i thought it would be.

It charges the battery.
And it provides power for the system.
Not increases its power. Not suppliments its power.

A lot of games also allow you to unlock those without an amiibo, too, from what I've heard. The only real significant gameplay amiibos seem to unlock is in Smash.

The docking station has additional processing power. It's just just a charging station and video out.

I guess it'll play skyrim? It better be special edition and not the 2011 version or else nintendo fucked up with multiplats already.

Upscalers don't really do TRUE 1080p, and I don't know why nintendo would want take a step back from HD when they just made the Wii U do it, and everyone owns an HD tv nowadays.
But, idk tho.

When is it fucking stuttering dude? At what part of their video does the small screen stutter? dude you do realize that if you record a screen with a camera that you get scanlines recorded and the brightness looks fucked right? They obviously edited stock footage of games.

Unless you have a source you don't you can fuck right off with that idiotic assumption. There is no economic sense in having redundant hardware in a cheap consumer electronic toy.

Again I say this:

Why would it charge a battery, then simply ignore the battery and rely on straight power through the dock? What if there's a power failure in your home? Will it just die because it was relying on the dock instead of the battery?

What makes more sense is it charges the tablet, and the power refers to hardware.

Also:

They'll never learn.

So gameplay advantage can be locked behind the purchase of an amiibo?

...

Watch the transition from the TV to handheld mode when it's showing off Zelda. You can see the drop in framerate. This means either the dock has additional hardware or removing the tablet from the dock puts the system into a power saving mode.

In the Chibi-Robot game, you could scan an amiibo to get a stupid good powerup.
In Kirby Robobot, you could scan various amiibos, both Kirby and other franchises, to get abilities. This was especially stupid as you could do it during Arenas, making them a stomp.

What the fuck country do you live in where power-outages are a thing you have to worry about that often?

Dude, fucking, that's not a recording of the tablet, that is footage edited in post-production retard. Not representative of what the tablet actually does.
If it's zelda maybe just zelda still has frame drops since it isnt actually out yet.

Proably to charge the battery faster. This thing will probably have shit battery life.
Also if the power went off I would assume the screen would assume it was taken off the dock and turn the screen on.

We know that third parties will drop support after the first year, it has enough power for games to look good and run well, but more importantly it needs to be cheap.

Nope, it's going to be standard $60 USD price, it's a home console first, portable second

No that's what the statement is, it's powering the system as well as charging it, there's no extra hardware in the dock. Emily Rogers says nothing about extra hardware and only mentions the Tegra x1 powering it, so that's what it has, why the fuck would they be so on the money and then not arbitrarily for something thats just wishful thinking on the part of fans. You can't provide any proof that there is hardware in the dock so you should consider refraining from typing.

That's not gameplay, the video on the screen is not recorded from the screen, this has been a standard for years.

why can't the industry die already? Nobody asked for this, nobody wanted this! We all have a phone or a proper handheld. Fuck off with your shield/console bastard already.

wtf just google what amiibos fucking do they have been out for years now, this is old-ass news.
The fucking splatoon amiibos unlocked challenge levels, stop asking stupid questions.

...

Does your phone, tablet, or laptop die if the power goes out while it's plugged into the charger?

Fucking awesome. My only complaints is that the controller for the handheld portion looks like it will feel awful. Otherwise this is exactly what I wanted from their next console. Please god let it be compatable with DS/3DS

Why do you guys think it will be shit other than "le Holla Forums hates everything XD" meme.

You are this retarded

Incorrect. I've had the same half-life 2 disc since it came out, and there is still not a single scratch on it.

...

^this post is b8

if it sells decently, unlike the wii u did, third parties are going to make games for it. Maybe not multiplats, but maybe exclusives. If it can run skyrim special edition, it can run other shit well enough.

fr Holla Forums does hate everything.
yeah if they did something like that Gamecube gameboy player thing, it'd be sick-nasty. possible external disk-reader for wii u games? just speculating.

Don't deny that phone games aren't a huge market.

switch looks gimmicky as fuck, not convinced in the slightest, needs more games. New mario game is a plus but is it going to be more 3D world? No thanks.

they are a completely different market from every other venue in gaming.

People literally only play different versions of the same 3-4 games. It sucks and nobody cares about it or takes it seriously.

Exactly. Switch is android based, which means……? Third parties = shit android games

It looks incredibly ungimmicky. The only gimmick is that you can play your games wherever. Other than that its just a regular controller.

If the console is in a "dock" state outputting via HDMI and the power goes out will the console fuck up or smoothly switch to portable mode?

Amen brother, can't wait to have a device that lets me play at home and on the go seamlessly.

The thing everyone is ignoring is this: No more split game library.

Imagine if the Wii U and 3DS shared the same library, and whatever game you owned on one would work on the other. This Nintendo console will not be Nintendo splitting themselves between two pieces of hardware, but every game will be on a single platform. It will have, far and away, the most impressive library of exclusives we have seen in generations.

If it can't play wii u games through some kind of external disk reader, I can see it getting a lot of Wii U ports, especially for the expensive games that didn't sell the best, maybe like xenoblade x or something. It was playing splatoon and mario kart so that's either proof of concept game footage, or it has ports of those games. Probably ports since Zelda U is crossplatform.

no shit it's a huge market we're saying that games for phones are trash with microtransactions and advertisements that only casuals play, now stop baiting.

it was literally just announced less than 12 hours ago dude

I feel like half this thread doesn't speak english as their first language.

Wait what.

Was he saying battlefield? But yeah even on pc it's so retarded that games don't compress any audio and include every fucking language in the files so you have to install and download 40-60GBs of bullshit.

Carts can load all that without having to install to HDD.

store.steampowered.com/app/261550/

Nvidia themselves haven't said it's a Tegra X1, so maybe it's a custom job or the X2 which was also rumored, that is definitely Skyrim Special edition with HD textures though, but then none of the other games looked like a significant step up graphically over the WiiU.

It's a completely different architecture to WiiU, and we've seen 3 ports so far, it's not running WiiU games without them being ports.

I never did, now go back to cuckchan and bait there.

If the WiiU and 3ds shared the same library it would be great, finally a console with a strong software library, something I never thought I would see again.

We've already seen Mario Kart 8 port, a Splatoon port and a Breath of the Wild port, it's gonna have ports, at least these ports have new features though.

I'll churn butter in your butt, boy

ride me, user~

I'm glad Warband has so much mod support. Looks like I'm quitting modern video games before butterlord came out. No buy.

Look, a cuck.

Nvidia's statement said it is a custom chip with development libraries made especially for the device. Since it runs on the same base as Tegra it means it's ARM architecture like the 3DS, not PowerPC which powers the Wii U.

The cloud isn't a thing.
It's just SOMEONE ELSE'S COMPUTER.

I'm afraid if they turn out to not be ports and are just "proof of concept" footage.
I can see nintendo doing something retarded like that.

...

...

Oh maybe you're right then, I didn't notice that shit.

Yeah let's hold back games because of Nintendo using stupid storage technology again.

Nintendo defense force right on cue.

Well the mystery is solved gang, Taleworlds are a bunch of incompotent roaches, no wonder Butterlord is taking so long to come out

What is being held back by 32GB or 64GB of storage other than pre rendered "real time" cutscenes and uncompressed audio?

Come to think of it, I can't name a single new game worth getting besides Half Genie Hero now.

Yes, that and like 6 languages for the 30000000000000000 lines of dialogue, 80% of which is 1000s of first names recorded to play like twice in the beginning of the game just because the devs couldn't figure out where to throw away more money.

I'm exaggeratedly referring to fallout 4 btw.

I saw that.

cost.

be ready to pay $90- $100 for NX games
(it cost more to make) as an excuse

...

Non Nintendo games.

Oh yeah, forgot about the disk-locked DLC shit too.

It's not MK Switch, it looks like an MK8 port, although I'd honestly rather them just add more content to MK8 including levels, a proper battlemode and a double dash mode, double dash was the blurst.

Falllout 4 with all the DLC is only 34GB.

You didn't properly answer my question, try again.

your a fucking retard if you were capable of scratching a bluray.

you had to have stabbed it

Could anyone tell if it was running regular skyrim or the new version?

...

3DS carts apparently hold up to 8GB according to wikipedia, I'm sure Nintendo's done some R&D in last 5 years and switch carts could probably hold up to 64GBs or maybe even 128 and be made cheaply enough.

We think it's the new version.

Let's go look up what the definition of CDN is on wikipedia;

>A content delivery network or content distribution network (CDN) is a globally distributed network of proxy servers deployed in multiple data centers.

And your assertion that 'cheapskate corp' Microsoft wouldn't waste as much money as possible to push Windows 10 is laughable. They had to distribute a dozen or so gigs to hundreds of millions of computers worldwide, P2P combined with CDNs becomes an obvious solution to avoid network congestion not save a paltry sum of money. They worked with the Internet Engineering Task Force on this as this update broke all internet traffic data records;

computerworld.com/article/2953514/microsoft-windows/windows-10-roll-out-will-break-internet-traffic-records.html

Those were the fat pipes I mentioned earlier.

Even the latest Ubuntu uses ancient packages and an old kernel for dependability. Try it with Debian testing or unstable.

It's definitely closer to the new version, the colours aren't all washed out and the textures look hd.

just not "officially announced", i wouldn't lose hope yet.

Yeah, might just be Bethesda not wanting to make it official yet.

If it actually didn't come to Switch though, it would be pretty funny.

I doubt Nintendo would show it off in their reveal trailer if they hadn't signed the contract for it's release already.

It would really become the Switcharoo

Didn't they show Metro for the Wii U, but it never came?

I don't know, if it was coming all Bethesda had to do was say nothing. If I had to guess , I'd say Bethesda is going to wait and see how many units the Switch moves before committing to porting Skyrim.

I don't remember that.
I do remember early ps3 days and they had that final fantasy 7 opening remade but it wasnt an actual game.

...

...

I'd say "like clockwork" but you're late. Very late.

As cool as that'd be to have Hi-tech floppies, that'd never happen as the popular storage method is currently the blu-ray. I am also curious on how you did the math to get that cost/size ratio.

Did they show it in the announce trailer less than 5 months before release?

I think the showed it about a year before, but no one found out it wasn't coming until after the Wii U was released.

Switch games will be $90, because they are like a handheld and a normal game combined into one purchase.

Capped, please make it.

You too.

"Normal" games are still way under 32GB and more that that is completely retarded.

One thing they need is to iron out the online. Having gay shit like friend codes is not going to cut it. Nintendo needs to get into the CURRENT YEAR and start adopting things like friends lists, group chat/ party options, achievements, and all sorts of other shit that PSN and XBL do better.
But I feel like if they could do this, and offer free online as well as staying up to date with the newest bullshit like CoD or other normalfag shit, I feel the free online could be a huge selling point for Nintendo and possibly get normalfags interested.

I agree with most of what you said, but
that's the gayest shit to happen to gaming in the 21st century. Making milestones with no actual reward is just plain dumb.

Yeah, but if people like them it will be an incentive to buy the console. Some people love achievement whoring, and some people don't. I could imagine a whole bunch of retards buying a PS4 or Xbone simply for achievements, and the people who don't care, will just ignore them. Simple as that.
The problem is that Nintendo so far seems to be the only one with good games, and normalfags don't like good games, they like timesinks to do in between other things.
Also achievements are fine if you offer actual rewards for doing them like TF2 did back in the day.

Call of Duty IW is 130gb, normal fags won't buy this thing if they can't play their CoD shitfest

It will sell well in Japland at least
