Throwing weapons in M&B are best used en masse but theres like barely any troops that use them. I loved the huskarl guys in the north because they could be set to hold on top of a hill and would rain axes on the enemy whilst the enemy tried to engage.

Romans used them, just as jevelins, and they were still used through the dark ages, then everybody just used javelins for skirmishers.

You can try it yourself: if you just press a knife's blade against a steak it only cuts through with a huge amount of force but sawing back and forth cuts it easy with less force.

The only thing Bandwidthlord has over Warband is Sieges, Seasons, and board games. Mods for warband do everything else, with 10 times less the filesize.

They are exposing more of the games engine to mod developers, I'm sure that won't atttract any more new mods to the engine, as well as all the cool features like a stronger dynamic economy, better resource management and significantly better battlefield command.

The graphics are an improvement but the only thing that's really impressive so far has been the immense draw distances and the advanced optional features like tesselation.

My friend work at a local broadband company and that company works for comcast, that company also does fiber but only to rural areas outside the city(like ranches and farms) It sucks ass. All they need to do is remake warband with better overworld AI (yet to be seen); more content to the battles (have already succeeded with sieges and defenses); better graphics, models, and animations (done); more options with diplomacy (not sure about this one); and not remove any of the neat little features from warband like weather effects (including crossbows being shit in snow and rain) and battlefields looking different based on the terrain you come into contact with enemies on. That and the modding support is all they needed to do and by the looks of things they're going to deliver on that. Warband has set a really high bar so I won't be surprised if it's not an instant classic but I'm still somewhat hyped.

Government intervention has prevented competition from popping up most places around the states. Because you'd need to actually lay fibre, there are lots of places where you need government consent or approval which means there's someone who can potentially be bribed to stop it. If someone can actually just fucking do it, it'll solve a lot of problems. Here in kiwiland we had a similar problem with our mobile phone services in that there were basically only two networks and they charged an arm and a leg (fucking 20c per text message) until some other company came around and charged 2c per text. Didn't last forever though, we're back to all four phone companies charging 20c a text again but while the competition lasted, we had some massive improvements to the networks themselves (coverage, speeds, etc) that haven't been reverted. Reasonably sure we don't have the same level of corruption here for the whole lobbying thing though.

It is very clear that it isn't a free market from the fact that they could prohibit a company from going to a specific area. There are a shitload of different laws regarding internet that people don't know about like the fact that you need permits from the government not only to be a provider but also to do construction in the area due to laws requiring that internet cables are underground rather than simply being out of reach like power lines are. Then there's also intentionally kike-ish laws that exist solely because someone trying to start an ISP tried a method that complied with all existing laws and that they never bothered to remove, like when Comcast tried and failed to get a law passed for Kansas that would prohibit anyone from providing in areas that already have a provider in them where they themselves defined what would count as a provided area.

They haven't really showed enough gameplay to get an idea of what combat in the open will be like and whether troops can stay in cohesive formations and fight that way.
