Pretty much this. I work in a warehouse, hours are long, its fast paced and they gruel you. Longest shift I had was 20 hours, and 60 hour weeks aren't uncommon.

That being said, it's good work and the pay is great as long as you stay away from Amazon. I make around 20-30 bucks an hour at my job and considering all I do is pick shit up and put it down, it's not bad. Basically get paid to go to the gym.

Seriously, I worked furniture warehouse, and it was almost common for us to do 100 ~ 200 items per truck, and we usually got three trucks per day. Mind you, each of those items tended to be upwards of 20lbs ~ 100lbs and when you work the floor you usually were not given trolley, but instead forced to carry that stuff.

This also doesn't include assembling furniture for delivery, delivering furniture in every season, and being forced to put up with customers which give the most asinine requests possible at the last minute.

It's not the hours, it's probably the monotony that takes a toll on people. If you are doing the same action nonstop with maybe 1 or 2 short breaks for 12 hours, to the point where you can't even take bathroom breaks or talk to people, I can see that being tiring.
