Frankly I spit on nature nor is the cause of these fires something as complicated as you posit. It is simply that the fed has been retarding natural fire in the west for 60 years. Some inland states stopped doing that as far back as the 80s after a series of severe fires. When you prevent normal fires from spreadng the fuel(ie dead shit) builds up as does undergrowth which would normally be killed or inhibited by a fire. Normally large trees survive these fires but if you let the brush build up then there is more fuel so when a fire does happen it becomes both too large to manage and large enough to kill mature trees. This means both damage to the forestry and to property which could have been prevented by not spending a single cent.
Forests should be cut for our own gain, fuck the animals and plants they exist for us to use as we see fit. If you want to cut in a specific manner either to maintain tracks of "natural" forest or to prioritize the regrowth of good lumber merely requires a careful application of forestry. Humans have been managing forests in Europe and now in North America for centuries. There are more board feet of lumber int he USA today than there was in 1900 because of careful for-profit forestry.

On top of that, you need an initial contribution of water. This is something that's virtually impossible at this point, because the natives across most of (southern) California have so poorly mismanaged the water resources that they need to redirect it from the Colorado River across the entire state just to maintain human civilization. I live on the river, so I've got to see first hand the discussions on selling water rights to the coastal cities. Desalination is of course all they really need, but it's more expensive, so of course they won't do it.
Beyond that, while settlers have planted some shit that shouldn't be there, the state itself is a chaparral. Flames are entirely a thing that's supposed to happen for the sake of germinating. The fires taking place in California right now? Those aren't natural - they're caused by man. But there are supposed to be flames, and the plants have evolved with that possibility in mind.

The north/northwest Redwoods in the subtropical forest that depends in the high humidity from the ocean/fog and from snowmelt. This is the Cascadia Area of the NorthWest that goes from NorCal all the Way to Alaska. When humidity is high the forest thrives. But if there is a drought and conditions cause the forests to dry up, you get massive unstoppable fires like we had this last year.
The Sierra Nevada West-facing slope Forests that are inhabited by the Giant Sequoia, which depend on snowmelt and humidity from air blowing NE from the Valley. Same thing applies as above. If there is no water from snowmelt or condensation it has massive fires.
The central valley area that is originally mostly desert or grassland which when dry causes fires like the one in Napa.
The Southern California zone that has pine forests in the mountains at high altitude.
The SoCal zone at low elevation that is mostly fire brush. This is essentially ALL of Los Angeles through San Diego metra.
Those last two are especially susceptible to high speed winds, which are caused by the Santa Ana condition, which is able to quickly spread fires.

Now, if fire has been suppressed, these second growth trees grow tall enough to create a ladder of fire that can reach the first layer of trees. Once this happens, the forest is FUCKED and hundreds of years of growth has just been destroyed in a process not normally found in nature.
