I don't really understand the Mei hate. She can be pretty hard to kill outright, but otherwise she's really easy to deal with. Most heroes can easily escape or outtrade her. The only thing in her entire kit that's really a problem is the wall.

I say this as a Mercy main btw. Obviously I can't kill Mei unless she's retarded, but I can escape anytime, save whoever she targets at least 50% of the time and revive anyone dumb enough to get caught in her ult if I can't just heal them through it.

I think QP is the fastest XP. Matches are generally shorter, which means more win+medal bonuses and the consecutive match bonus that's unique to QP. Everything else is time-based.

As a Mei player I can say this, Mei is just as good and hard to deal with as her entire team, she can't do much by herself in the grand scheme of things.

My only criteria are that it has to be fun, it has to interest me, and it can't get boring until the midgame. If it meets at least two of these, I consider it good.

It's hard to pin what I like so much about what I would consider good vidya, but I guess I could say that the less that gets between you and the gameplay the better. Games that let you figure them out and flesh them out in your own experience are always better than games that expect you to play a certain way and funnel you down a specific path or playstyle. To me, something like F-Zero X and GX, Doom I and II, Mega Man, and even simple arcade games like Tempest will always be more fun than a game where you have to slog or follow some sort of meta in order to find an enjoyable experience.

It ultimately comes down to what you enjoy and what you have fun with, because if you're not having fun while playing video games then you should either a) play a different game or b) stop playing and take a break. I wouldn't go so far as to say that there's no objectivity as to what makes a game good or not, because in order for something to be good there needs to be a certain level of care and understanding put into how the game functions and just how much fun it can be. I would consider a lot of low effort VNs and walking simulators to be shit by every standard of measurement, but if you have fun with them then I can't stop you. That would be wasted energy to try.

After achieving my season goals now I just grind for boxes and try to help other people in competitive, no guarantee though, I am low gold confirmed but when I lose I really feel cheated.

In every single one of my competitive placement matches I had a team who refused to adjust to the enemy's tactics, and so my placement matches went 1-2-7. So I got placed in silver at 1850, and I've been struggling to get up to gold. If the game ranked you based on your own gameplay, and not on the gameplay of the entire team, I might be more okay with this, but the game just assumes that a loss means everyone on the team was playing poorly. Likewise if the team wins, and you were still playing like shit, the game still gives you the full points, thus rewarding people who queue with friends and do fuck all and punishing those who solo queue and play hard but still lose.

Also in my opinion, rank shouldn't show to people during a match. The moment a match starts and people see it's 5g1s vs 2g4s that demoralizes the team with the 4s. Also it prevents elitism and shitting on people based on their rank.

That's why there's been pressure on Blizz lately to make comp. rank reflect individual skill rather than number of wins vs. losses.

It happens all the time where bad players get carried by good times and so they rank really well. Conversely, it also happens fairly frequently where good players get matched with bad teams and so they lose over and over again ranking poorly.

I got to gold thanks to a team, but not always full team and sometimes I won in solo Q, what I learned from a lot of places and videos is, play your best characters, if you are on a group you will get easier time establishing your roles, for example, as a Mei player my role was… being Mei and occasionally Reaper, when it came to solo I always tried to use a self-carry hero and rally the troops, sometimes it requires playing along with their ego trip, you would be surprised how many ATK Hanzo games I got away with (and won)

also, there is one small detail, all my teammates were 400 or more points below me, I was in the 1700-1800 range, when we teamed up the SR average went down for me and up for them, that way we got some easy victories most of the time, basically there is a "sweet spot" where your opponents tend to drop the ball enough, not to mention is better to stop approaching the objectives as everyone tends to do, for example, don't approach the central area of Nepal's garden thingy from the front, go from the sides.

Actually, that's how the system already works. You get a 50% win rate and go up and down based entirely on individual performance. People keep asking for a pure-winrate system, forgetting about the fact that damn near everyone has a 50%.

The game doesn't ensure shit, I do not get stacked teams where it's a guaranteed 50/50 win/lose.

It doesn't guarantee anything, it just gives you a MMR rating that goes up as you win, down as you lose. The higher it goes the worse your teammates are going to be and the better your opponents, in order to have even teams based on MMR (within the same SR). Eventually you are going to lose until it evens out, or comes however close to even you can actually handle.

The fact is damn near everybody who doesn't play in full premades or throw games ends up within 10 wins/losses of a perfect 50. The only other exception being the very top and very bottom.

50% win rate is a useless metric because it doesn't really tell you anything except that you're at the same skill level of your oponents.
50winrate against noobs and 50winrate against pros is not the same thing, despite both being 50% win rate.

I have no idea how this is still an ongoing debate when anedotal evidence is the best that can be found at all times.
There has yet to be presented a chart, image or something similar depicting a player that consecutively gets players with an higher rank on the enemy team than his team mates when he has been "winning too much" or the reverse, with exceindly better comrades in your team when you've been "losing too much".

The end goal that these idiots seem to be asking for, unaware of how stupid this is, is to garantee that if you're rank 2456, you'll have only teammates ranked 2456 on your team and enemies ranked 2456 too on the enemy team.
Differences always exist but as long as they aren't that large (and there are safeties in place for that) it's not a big deal, especially considering how the numeric rank always "lags" behind your own skill, both up and down.

Sometimes it even feels as if there were stealth buffs, but that must be a demoralization side effect.

I still need to playthrough tactics. What is it that makes people go crazy for this game? I played the opening act and the story seemed surprisingly dark but honest at the same time. Is the story what people like about it?

There seems to be a lot coming to PTR according to what I heard, not only balance, now PTR will really be a test build, prepare for lots of weird outcomes, levels, etc.

D.Va moves twice as fast while shooting and has 100 more HP in PTR.
Toblerone now gets less scrap from kills but has passive scrap generation.
There's other changes too but those are the biggest ones. Dunno the rest.

I wouldn't know, but in any case, they said not all changes in PTR will go live, they will finally use that to test more stuff instead of just doing a two step update.

IDK about moving twice as fast, but DVA also shoots much faster (so higher DPS). Torb also builds his turret faster I think, and Soldier spread management is far easier.

Apparently Mei got rebalanced, Blizzard deploys faster but has a slower charge, I was worried for a moment, I can still freeze enemies and do lots of damage with icicles, nobody in their right mind spammed snowballs, they are meant to stop pushing.

Well that's pretty drastic. What they really needed to do was make the damage reduction not stack with armor, so a flat 50% regardless of whether the target is armor or HP.

The reason is that would nerf the synergy with tanks, especially Reinhardt and Winston, while still letting it be just as effective on DPS. Considering that the main problem is that Ana+Tank makes DPS obsolete in meta, that should bring balance back to team comp.

The community's largely pretty shit and the game is really, really casual. They have a rating system for how hard a character is, from 1 to 3. Every character should be a 1. It's still fun to unwind with.

It's fun if you don't get emotionally invested into it, the more you care about winning or losing or being the best or whatever the more its imperfections will nag at you. If you just fire it up to dick around as a ninja or a big hammer guy it's great.

tf2 will outlast overwatch, It's like thinking Bob's Burger could beat the simpsons.

I can more or less recommend it on PC, but yeah, a discount is always better than full price (40 bucks on PC), is better with friends sadly, if you think TF2 can be hell when you want to play objectives and everyone else wants to play arena then you haven't seen OW.

Regarding that matter, isn't there a yearly blizzard sale around november or so? I know they're are huge faggots who don't like putting their stuff out at a discount, but there must be something.

The game is fun and the competitive aspect of it sometimes put me in the edge of my chair but it is pretty barebones for a $40 game. I suggest waiting for a discount and play Paladins meanwhile while it still alive.

Yep, it costs in game gold to unlock every character other than like the 7 you get for free. You then also have to grind out the cards that let you modify their abilities which is like the most interesting aspect of the game and those cards you either get randomly from boxes every time you level up or you buy for ~1/3rd of the price of the heroes. Each character has I think 20 cards, you start with 5 for each so there's 15 cards for each of ~20 characters you can get from chests which drop 3 each.

Paladins basically copies the model of League of Legends directly though at least the card builds are a lot more interesting than LoL's retarded flat % passive runes.

Are you basing that off an old beta? You can't buy characters with real currency. The maps aren't even big anymore.

I was checking some control customization with Symmetra and noticed something when it comes to her leash, some people said the maximum charge for the leash is preserved as long as you keep holding LMB, apparently that's not true, I seem to keep the charge if I let go of it, not sure how much time can pass but at least the charge is kept if you don't reload between targets, can someone else check it?

I think ults would need to have a set amount of charge time before "nerfing" them all, I mean, sounds confusing, all -25% but some are also nerfed on top which then I don't get, maybe they should use raw numbers instead of % because I can't still get it.
