[META] Why are moderating styles so different anyways?

Basic overview based on looking at 8ch.net/log.php?board=v after making a report and seeing how the mod replies to it(Most posts reported are breaking a rule and the remainder are pure shitposting)

Mark: A "rulecuck" by most people standards. If more mods were like him then people would be happy with the amount of rules on Holla Forums instead of asking for more
Cyan: Pretty cool guy, closer to Mark moderation style
Pip: Haven't seem him moderating, but christ those ban reasons do throw me off guard. Tell him to calm down and give people more descriptive ban reasons instead of "NIGGERNIGGERNIGGERNIGGER". He's not moonman and won't be for a good time.
Lime: Throws around 5-10 minute long bans like a faggot. Tell him people don't see those unless they JUST happen to post in that 10 minute zone, which is almost never. Proof: Lime hidden 3 days Holla Forums Created a new 5-minute ban on Holla Forums (#163938) with reason: friendly warning: no meta threads please(Also, meta threads are allowed but bumplocked, tell him that too)
Actually scratch that, tell him to not guide people how to shitpost. Remember that guy in the granblue thread with 15 posts a few days ago? The one you deleted most posts of? He actually gave the guy a 10 minute ban, told him to keep his shitposting "on topic" and let him go free without deleting any of the posts. hell is up with that?

Overall 6/10. Have to check recent mod activity to predict how my report will be handled, some shit is abominable.
Bonus request: Can you stick 8ch.net/log.php?board=v in the rules page or in the "vidya stuff" link? Thanks.

Pip rarely comes online, but he usually bans people when he does.
Lime doesn't seem to understand that if you ban people for 5 minutes they won't see the fucking ban. He from time to time gets it right, but that just makes his lax days contrast all the more.

BAN THE FUCKING RABBIT RABBIT THREADS YOU DOUBLE KIKE.

Apart from that the modding here is okay. Not spectacular, but okay. It could always be worse, and you have look no further than /a/ to see it as such.

No comment on LaBattaglia?

If you want to see bad moderation, look at Holla Forums. To think people call us Holla Forums2.0 instead of them.

Don't be silly. Holla Forums isn't an example of bad moderation. It's a sterling example of no moderation. The difference is that /a/ has mods, but they are all universally trash, whereas Holla Forums does not.

I had a bad gut feeling when I read that LaBattaglia was still there, but last time I saw anything was in late 2015 so I kept quiet

that's a nice autismo
ow

This.
We have way too many repeated threads that serve no purpose but circlejerking/porn dumps. It doesn't help that moderation on the things Mark has condemned is spotty at best, at his autistic ass constantly gives mixed signals on things.

...

Until the mods let us give the CRAPCUNTS shills the welcome they deserve, they all get a -6/10 from me

Nobody will be charged for calling volunteers moderators. Hotwheel's comment only applies to people managing the website anyways.
And this is a sematics argument and you know it.

How is "Threads made in a template fashion (Foolz posting) and console war bullshit like "PC will never EVER get Bloodborne" will result in thread deletion or bumplock." vague?

if you want to call them mods go to cuckchan

Mods

You're in for a ride

This place would be much better with no mods at all.

>>>Holla Forums

I guess that would explain that one post in the deleted Haydee thread where some user posted a ban notice.

It's a thread about Holla Forumsshit in vidya, and I wish it would just rebrand itself into a /vpol/ general, if only because Holla Forums derails are so unfun, why wouldn't it still be here?

>Can you stick 8ch.net/log.php?board=v in the rules page
But it already is.

Delete metashit

Well fuck
Still pretty tucked away isn't it

It is bumplocked, so it is destined to be deleted eventually.

It doesn't really seem like that to someone who wrote it and read it a hundred times to be honest. It's not like it's hidden in between a wall of text or anything though, I think it makes sense to have it where it is. I do get what you mean though.
Could you send us your feedback via email as well? If you don't mind.
It's feedback worth discussing for us and having it as an email makes it actually easier for us. It gives us the time that's sometimes needed to communicate between different time zones.

BRAVO

Sorry for the delayed response, I was watching the VP debate. Anyway the reason for the moderating styles being so different is due to flexibility. I feel that unless one is going into the extreme, he should take care of the board in the way that he pleases that doesn't stray too far away from the guidelines we have in place. Keep in mind that we do this for the love of the board, rather than hotpockets. This is a voluntary project with no real gain to it other than helping out the community we love. So while I do agree that Lime could ban for a bit longer and that some threads should be deleted rather than bumplocked. I feel that the element of flexibility is important here, since I can't afford to pay my fellow hotpockets, and we need to work as a team to get the job done. I don't wanna force things on my fellow hotpockets unless there's a need to do so. So as of right now, things are pretty good. Granted there's an increase of completely shit threads, but I delete them as soon as I see them.

Also keep in mind that our volunteers have lives of their own, I won't talk or discuss these personal details out of respect and because it violates their personal privacy, however there are very important things that some of them are doing. With that said it is always a huge risk to take in new hotpockets through applications. We do it so everyone can have a fair share, however the risks are still there regardless, so I am forever indebted to both my fellow hotpockets and the anons that use this board.

You may argue that I am a rulecuck, and that I'm not the ideal Board Owner for Holla Forums. but what's important is that we have stability, balancing both fun and quality is an important part of Holla Forums, which is why I personally give the extremes days, and the rule breakers a few hours or so. I feel that I have been doing a good job in the sense that the board IS fun to use, and the community is fun to interact with. It may have its faults, but the reality of the situation is that nothing's perfect unless you only have 50 users on an imageboard. I feel like the majority of our basic goals have been met. We have a board where both vidya and vidya related content is discussed, We embrace the community treating it with the respect it deserves, the number of good outweighs the number of shit when it comes to threads and replies, We have events from time to time, although I wish I could do a better job in doing them more often, and the most important thing is that we have a level of communication with Holla Forums, be it emails, meta threads or personal messages.

We use this board a ton ourselves, we want to make it a fun environment where we can talk about these things both from a critical level and a cynical level. We want to talk about Nier 2, and Ys VIII while laughing at Todd Howard for his latest domino's pizza pie with the the topping of LIES. We will continue to do shit like the boston salt party and have fun with this community. We wouldn't put in two years of our time if we just wanted e-benis. If we wanted money and fame, we would be on youtube shilling Yandere Simulator.

Anyway the most important thing about all this is that my team mates require flexibility, we want to contribute to the Holla Forums that ALL of us have made within two years time. Despite my disagreements with them, or their disagreements with me. We respect each other enough to help you guys, and you to help us. So yes, while I do agree that Lime gives out bans that are too short, the important thing is that he's doing his part and sticking within the guidelines while trying to make the board a fun place for anons to talk about vidya and vidya related stuff.

I still remember back when that was the case here. Early 8/v/ was like heaven compared to cuckchan and current 8/v/.

You are an alright guy, Mark. Don't come on Holla Forums tomorrow

yeah, september 2014 Holla Forums was the best it'll ever be. however current 8/v/ is very good as well. Do you not have fun when we piss off a bunch of Bethesda fanboys? or when we have the get fest where we try to compete with each other for the ultimate consecutive numbers? What about when ROBop tells comfy stories about how FCR is trying to rob the Amiibo's, or when E3 happens and we all gather together to experience the disappointment in that? I think it's a kinda magical thing we have going on here. We have issues like some people spamming threads they don't like or people derailing threads about a certain aspect of a game. but overall 8/v/ is a damn good board and I'm happy to be part of it.

Better answer than I expected.

It's still better than cuckchan.
I'll take Lime ANY day of the week rather than the literal SJW Janis on 4/v/ who ban people for racism.

i still love you mark, even if you are a fat jew get /fit/

Second question since this is still on page 3…
Do your board volunteers know that they can put on their capcodes almost the same way as you can, except by changing owner to volunteer?

I haven't seen a vol. talk since that day we had a meta thread and anons were shitting on a vol for not liking that we saged a thread asking what anime Holla Forums liked. Did everyone forget how to use a capcode since then, or are they busy with the Illuminanti meeting?

we as a team discourage ever using the capcode. hell even I get grilled for using it for stupid shit. I DO use it once in threads like these and then stop using it after I post with that IP, basically they know how to capcode but don't want to. Honestly I only use the capcode to either shitpost or talk about things like this. A volunteer doesn't need to use it, I however feel that once in a while it's good to pop out and say "we're active and listening." Even if it is an autistic shitpost like in the Haydee thread.

I mean in meta threads, obviously.
Like if I asked Pip to tell me why half of his bans are "This nigger fatass SJW needs to go" would he come over with his capcode and explain it?

he could or I could do it for him using his words. anyway I'm sorry user, but I have to work in the morning. can you send me an email and I'll get back to you when I can?

I don't mean to brush you off. it's that I have to go to bed for a job interview now that the holidays are over

Well I don't have any more questions so this thread's about over, I guess.
I'm on the verge of deleting it actually.

Maybe if I find a problem later

alright. feel free to contact when you do.

What's wrong with that?

RABBIT THREADS STAY UP FOREVER AND ARE ACTIVELY PROTECTED BY YOU LYING PIECES OF SHIT.

everytime i open this imageboard a part of my soul that i didn't know i had yet leaves my body
