Sorry for the delayed response, I was watching the VP debate. Anyway the reason for the moderating styles being so different is due to flexibility. I feel that unless one is going into the extreme, he should take care of the board in the way that he pleases that doesn't stray too far away from the guidelines we have in place. Keep in mind that we do this for the love of the board, rather than hotpockets. This is a voluntary project with no real gain to it other than helping out the community we love. So while I do agree that Lime could ban for a bit longer and that some threads should be deleted rather than bumplocked. I feel that the element of flexibility is important here, since I can't afford to pay my fellow hotpockets, and we need to work as a team to get the job done. I don't wanna force things on my fellow hotpockets unless there's a need to do so. So as of right now, things are pretty good. Granted there's an increase of completely shit threads, but I delete them as soon as I see them.
Also keep in mind that our volunteers have lives of their own, I won't talk or discuss these personal details out of respect and because it violates their personal privacy, however there are very important things that some of them are doing. With that said it is always a huge risk to take in new hotpockets through applications. We do it so everyone can have a fair share, however the risks are still there regardless, so I am forever indebted to both my fellow hotpockets and the anons that use this board.
You may argue that I am a rulecuck, and that I'm not the ideal Board Owner for Holla Forums. but what's important is that we have stability, balancing both fun and quality is an important part of Holla Forums, which is why I personally give the extremes days, and the rule breakers a few hours or so. I feel that I have been doing a good job in the sense that the board IS fun to use, and the community is fun to interact with. It may have its faults, but the reality of the situation is that nothing's perfect unless you only have 50 users on an imageboard. I feel like the majority of our basic goals have been met. We have a board where both vidya and vidya related content is discussed, We embrace the community treating it with the respect it deserves, the number of good outweighs the number of shit when it comes to threads and replies, We have events from time to time, although I wish I could do a better job in doing them more often, and the most important thing is that we have a level of communication with Holla Forums, be it emails, meta threads or personal messages.
We use this board a ton ourselves, we want to make it a fun environment where we can talk about these things both from a critical level and a cynical level. We want to talk about Nier 2, and Ys VIII while laughing at Todd Howard for his latest domino's pizza pie with the the topping of LIES. We will continue to do shit like the boston salt party and have fun with this community. We wouldn't put in two years of our time if we just wanted e-benis. If we wanted money and fame, we would be on youtube shilling Yandere Simulator.
Anyway the most important thing about all this is that my team mates require flexibility, we want to contribute to the Holla Forums that ALL of us have made within two years time. Despite my disagreements with them, or their disagreements with me. We respect each other enough to help you guys, and you to help us. So yes, while I do agree that Lime gives out bans that are too short, the important thing is that he's doing his part and sticking within the guidelines while trying to make the board a fun place for anons to talk about vidya and vidya related stuff.
