I think this is the first generation in which none of the starts appeals to me in any way, shape, or form.

That's a butler.

Dartrix is extremely sensitive to other presences in the area and can detect opponents behind it and throw feathers to strike them without even seeing them. This Pokémon conceals sharp-bladed feathers inside its wings, showing astounding precision as it sends them flying in attack. And it goes beyond propelling its blade quills in simple straight lines—it can even bend these feathers to change their trajectories!

Revealing a certain snobbiness in its personality, Dartrix cares a great deal about its appearance, grooming its feathers in every spare moment. In truth, it’s also a bit of a birdbrain, with a tendency to bungle things up. Once it makes a mistake, it sometimes gets into a desperate struggle to gloss over the situation and ends up making a bigger mess than ever.

At times, this Pokémon feels so bothered by its dirty or ruffled feathers that it can’t focus on battle. When it loses its focus, it sometimes even retires from the battle on the spot! It’s up to each Trainer to help Dartrix overcome this troublesome stage. If this Pokémon is with a Trainer who helps it through, its strength will grow hugely!

The bell-like object attached at the base of Torracat’s neck is a flame sac, an organ that can produce flames. Torracat’s emotions cause a rise in the organ’s temperature, and when the organ spits flames, it rings with the high, clear sound of a bell. Torracat attacks using the flames emitted from this bell.

Torracat’s mane serves as an excellent sensory organ, and it can sense what’s going on around it—even in the dark! It can also detect the presence of hidden enemies.

Torracat has a great love for battle and will attack so relentlessly that its opponents lose the will to fight. And yet it sometimes behaves like spoiled child in front of Trainers or Pokémon with whom it has built a relationship of trust.

The cat punch that this Pokémon can dish out with its strong forelegs is extremely powerful. It can bend iron bars and knock out large men with a single blow!

Brionne learns its dances by imitating the other members of its colony. It sometimes even learns dances from humans. This Pokémon is a hard worker and pours itself into its efforts until it has memorized each dance. As it dances, Brionne creates balloon after balloon. In battle, it first sends its opponent into disarray with its dancing, and then slaps its balloons into its target, causing the balloons to explode and deal damage.

Brionne can dance in perfect time with others, even if they have only just met. On moonlit nights, you can sometimes see throngs of Brionne dancing as one, in perfect fluidity.

Brionne always acts cheery and positive. Even when it’s feeling sad, this Pokémon doesn’t allow its sorrow to show. It’s said that Brionne will only reveal a sad expression to a Pokémon or Trainer to whom it has opened its heart completely.

Why even live

I see they're covering all their bases.

Reminder that SM has different forms and it would be INCREDIBLY foolish not to showcase them on the starters

...

...

The forms are for Pokemon not native to Alola, Kalos introduced Mega forms and the starters didn't have them, and Gamefreak ARE incredibly foolish. Give it up.

Why do you faggots buy the same game every fucking year

Is it just me or do these names and pokemon suck absolute cock?

Feels more like a cheap hack rom than an actual pokemon game

This is the first time in a long while that they've actually seemed like they're doing something different. I haven't played since Gen III.

But I haven't bought a pokemon game since Leaf Green and really wanted this one for the clown.

Addiction?
There's 2 games to play on the 3DS and they need to make their purchase of a pointless console worthy?
They love having cocks shoved in their throats?

not sure

Different doesn't mean good

Please don't tell me the seal is going to get lewd

I half agree. I personally like a couple of designs though some are still stupid, but the names are absolute autism.

There was literally zero reason to believe those evos were real.

Different doesn't mean bad either. It's a toss-up. There's all this weird shit with Ultra-Beasts, HMs seem to have been removed or downplayed, the regional form thing could be neat if they introduce more weird ones, no gyms anymore, etcetera.

I'd rather they experiment and maybe find something new that works instead of just making the same games. That's why I lost interest to begin with.

...

Yeah, I haven't felt this way since Gen 3

This is not a good sign

...

These just seem such small changes that I just wonder if it's even worth it. I mean it's not gonna change the flawed core gameplay or the repetitiveness that put pokemon where it is right now in the first place

I feel like to make the game actively feel better they either have to fill with a lot of content (like all the small villages and stops that happen in the anime) or just flip flop the concept completely.

In the end the problem is that it will always feel the same. Despite there not being gyms, you're sure to stop to the 8 main cities for whatever they're doing now, even if the HMs are not as important you're still gonna have to use surf to traverse a big stretch of sea.

It's just crazy to me that after 20 years of games their size has actually managed to shrink.

Why does he have no teeth?

Yep, slutmon confirmed.

Murderclown will live on in our hearts.

...

Mods will fix it.

The only thing mods will do will be making tits bigger

see:

Honestly I bet there's 2 evo lines, this is the "dark" one and the lewd seal is the "light" one

As they should be.

Well, at least we'll have a Grass starter in Smash for NX.

That nigga better be in Pokemon SAGE

Why does Rowlet evolve into egoraptor

heh

Reminder that there literally is a murder clown pokemon already.

The guy who drew those came out of the dark and confessed they were fake. It's dead, Jim

They're all fucking shit. I think it's about time they start recruiting the people who did the fake ones like murderclown

Maybe so, but I really liked that starter.

I agree

Go away shill

Well I hate to break it to you but you'd have to be retarded to ever think those were real.

What?
they barely changed a few things to give it a different flavor, it's like calling an apple banana. You can call it whatever you want but it's still going to be an apple

...

WELL FUCK YOU

cat porn when?

The moment I saw Torracat, the feeling of those leaks being real truly sunk in. After I saw Brionne, it was pretty much confirmed. I didn't think much about Dartrix until its name was pointed out.

I'm glad I chose Popplio.

Oh boy, is it that time again?

Time to dump porn :^)

go to e621 you faggot furry

I've got my finger on the report button

Jokes on you, I wasn't planning on doing it anyway ;)

I'd prefer seeing more female rockruff evolution tbh

please off yourself

Trips demand it. DO IT FAGGOT.

So with the freeshop, CFW and the time files are put on eShop, could we expect the demo earlier as a .cia?

They do demos of pokemon games?
How does that work

They will of this one. Apparently it's its own self-contained thing and you even get a free Greninja that you can transfer to the full game that can change into that anime form.

my nigger

ORAS had a demo as well. In fact I'm pretty sure even XY did.

XY didn't have a demo; ORAS only had one for nostalgia's sake because RS had a special demo.
They're probably just repeating it for XY because they realized it builds up more hype and they're running out of info to dump about the game but realized it too late

(checked)

I'm disappointed that they didn't go with Murderclown and friends, but on the other hand, shit starter evolutions mean that the usual business of "box the starter after grabbing Route 1/2 Pokemon" is still in full effect. I was worried there for a second I'd have to use a kick-ass looking starter, but fortunately, I won't have to. Starters are fucking cheating.

Rest in peace Muderclown you were too good for this world.

How have I never fucking heard of this

Why? I don't have a problem with the concept, but why the name? Why not "Unlocked Greninja" or literally anything else? (For reference Nipponese name is サトシゲッコウガ, which is only slightly better because it can literally mean Wisdom Greninja)

Also: Who is the girl the trainer is fighting during that segment?

Kinda pleased with the Poke Pelago. Seems like a good way to put the box Pokemon to work for you instead of letting scores or hundreds of Pokemon rot while you train your main ten or so.

Poor popplio, it didn't ask to evolve into plague of gripes bait.

Ash-Greninja doesn't even make sense since Ash isn't a character in the games.

All you had to do was let go.

Cat > Owl > Waifushit

Owl looks cool and more original but he looks like a cuck beta who will get flustered

all the new designs are shit

...

...

They did it for ORAS. You get to experience a couple of the new features, like the sneaking up on pokemon for good stats, and get a self-contained story that hints at things to come.

Then you get to transfer a special pokmon/item up, and if they follow up with ORAS, you also get some extra starting items like pokeballs and heartscales if you play it enough.

Doubt it. You need someone to download it off the eShop to rip the ticket file then dump it to a site. Unless they fuck up and release it early, then take it down, realistically, you'll get it after a legitimate download.

Then again, Colour Splash was leaked and I can't find a cia for it. If anyone knows, send me a link.

I think there's still info to leak. They haven't shown some of the Kanto mons Alola forms, like Eggxecute and Persian, so maybe there's some others still to be revealed, or that won't be revealed at all.

The leaks said there was at least 90 something pokemon, and we've only got 30-something revealed, I think.

I believe it was originally going to be called Rainbow Greninja, though I don't recall where I read that.

Also, did anyone notice during the showing off of the Plaza, in the general store, there were items called [region] set? Thy cost less than a PP Up, so I wonder what's in them.

That's not the hard part. It's letting go.

Join the Fun at the Join Avenue the Festival Plaza!
>In Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon, communication features such as battling and trading are all gathered together in Festival Plaza. This is a place where the festivities never stop, as Pokémon Trainers from around the world meet and mingle.
>As you progress through your adventure, you'll become able to use Festival Plaza, where you can welcome other people and take requests to keep things hopping. Talk to your visitors to liven things up!
>People playing Pokémon Sun or Pokémon Moon near you and players from around the world who are connected to the Internet will visit Festival Plaza, and you can enjoy playing with them using a variety of communication features, including battling and trading.
>As your Festival Plaza’s rank goes up, you’ll gain the ability to host missions, where multiple players can try to complete a certain goal together. Missions can be attempted with other players you connect to via local wireless or the Internet. It also seems that global missions will sometimes be held, in which everyone playing Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon can work together to achieve a goal!

I never boxed my starters, but for this I think I will be when I get a better pokemon.

That's WiiU, not 3DS.

OH GOD.

Hey at least romhacks and fangames exist. The hardest part is probably making a good middle evo. Since it's a fake evo you can make up the stats and stuff right now and there's probably 64x64 sprites out there already.

Oh fug.
There was some retard going about saying he was having trouble installing .cias in the Homebrew thread.

Hey, at least this adds postgame content if they make Global Missions.

Oh boy. There's part repetition among them too (like the bags) it doesn't just look like NPCs.

Poké Pelago—A Paradise for Pokémon in PC Boxes
>In Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon, there’s a feature known as Poké Pelago, which Pokémon that have been placed in Boxes can enjoy. Poké Pelago consists of a variety of isles where Pokémon can go exploring, play on athletic equipment, and enjoy other fun activities. If you send many Pokémon to Poké Pelago, you can develop the facilities on your isles—and develop new kinds of isles as well. As these isles are developed and increase in number, you’ll be able to do things like obtain items or raise your Pokémon.
>Pokémon visiting Isle Abeens, which you can visit from the start, may sometimes choose to join your party. A Pokémon that displays a heart icon in the bubble above its head has taken a liking to you!
>In Isle Aphun, which you can use once you develop it, you may be able to obtain useless shit ~valuable items~.

I believed for the longest time that color splash was for 3DS too
I don't even know why

How fucking slow are you, daily shit has been in since Gold and Silver

...

They're usually more powerful than the counterparts you find naturally in the world. Not to mention, GF is so shit at balancing a game that sometimes, starter-typed Pokemon end up being seen halfway or later into the game with NO alternatives early on. They're cheating. Plus, there are too many neat Pokemon that aren't starters to be using starters in their stead.

True, but it sucks that he didn't get to be in an actual game instead. I should've known, those designs are too good for GF to make, even if they're fairly stereotypical.

The guy that made the fake evos also released second-stage designs, we're good there.
Pinister was amazing.

Mega Evolution Returns in Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon
>A select number of Pokémon were able to Mega Evolve in Pokémon Omega Ruby, Pokémon Alpha Sapphire, Pokémon X, and Pokémon Y. As long as you're in possession of the proper Mega Stone, any of these Mega-Evolving Pokemon that can be caught in the Alola region will be able to Mega Evolve in Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon, as well. The Mega Stones for Pokémon that appear in the Alola region may be received from people in the game or obtained from special shops.

Get fucked anti-mega faggots

Looks like Cyber Slut's box system.

This is probably the best feature they announced. A lot more interesting than the normal PC, but I really don't see it being very useful in the long run unless you get better items/pokemon/training kinds the further you go.

>Double Battle format is limited to Pokémon that appear in the Alola Region Pokédex (excluding some Legendary and Mythical Pokémon).
>Use of Mega Stones is not allowed.

WE ARE GOING TO RELIVE THE GLORY OF VGC 2014

you actually enjoying those terrible looking mega evos, holy shit. let me guess, your waifu is lopunny or charizard

...

Truly, he was too good for this world.

i'm calling you you the furfag, cause those are the only faggots who like megashit

...

How fucking retarded are you guys, never believe leaks that are just singular pictures unless there's a secondary reason or evidence. The only reason people trust is because concept art for a character announced after the leak is present. You had literally nothing for Murderclown.

==A New Version of the
Pokémon Global Link==
>Rating Battles are where the Trainers of the world battle with their favored Pokémon to decide who’s the strongest Trainer of all. After becoming a member of the Pokémon Global Link and registering your Pokémon Sun or Pokémon Moon game, you’ll be able to use the website. There will be some changes in the battle formats and methods with the update for Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon.
>The three existing sets of battle rules for Rating Battles (Single, Double, Special), will be increased to four with the addition of a new set of battle rules for the Championships Battle format.
>Season 1's Special format, which will begin November 18, will be a Single Battles where you’ll be able to participate with Pokémon that cannot take part under other battle rules: the Legendary Pokémon Solgaleo and Lunala, the Magearna that can be obtained through the QR Scanner, the Ash-Greninja obtainable through the Special Demo Version, and others!
>The new fourth set of rules (Championship Battles) will allow Trainers to play year-round using the official rules set for the Pokémon World Championships, the competition that’s held every year to decide the world’s strongest Pokémon Trainers. You’ll be able to experience the WCS2017 rules right from the start, beginning on Friday, November 18.
> ● Use of Mega Stones is not allowed.
>A new system being introduced to the battle time settings is “Your Time.” When using this method of time accounting, players will have a maximum of 60 seconds each turn to select a move or Pokémon, and they will also each be awarded 10 minutes of “Your Time.” Under these rules, if a player runs out of their 10 minutes before the battle ends, that player loses the match. This will mean matches can be decided more quickly than in the past, allowing players to enjoy thrilling battles.
>Note: In addition to the Pokémon obtainable in Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon, Pokémon obtainable in Pokémon X, Pokémon Y, Pokémon Omega Ruby, and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire will also become eligible to use under the regulations for Single and Double Rating Battles for a set time after the update to Pokémon Bank in January 2017.
>You can register Pokémon that you often use in Battle Teams, which can contain anywhere from one to six Pokémon. You can set up a maximum of six Battle Teams, and the same Pokémon can be registered to several Battle Teams simultaneously.
>When the Pokémon Global Link is updated for Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon, a new feature will be available—QR Rental Teams. Players will be able to publicly share their own teams and to use Battle Teams designed by other players. Public Battle Teams can be used by scanning in their QR Code patterns from the Pokémon Global Link. You can take part in Link Battles and certain Rating Battles using a Battle Team you’ve rented. You may even be able to try battling using the Pokémon of expert players, like the victors of the World Championships!

give me a tldr

that is the tl;dr you illiterate nigger

Global Missions Are Starting!
>Global missions are limited-time events that give Trainers around the world a shared mission via Festival Plaza in Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon, and they will be held at regular intervals. The theme of the first global mission will be “Catch a lot of Pokémon!” It’s expected to go live in late November. What’s it all about? Why, this mission is about catching a lot of Pokémon—regardless of their species!
>The number of Pokémon needed, along with other goals to achieve, will be announced on the Pokémon Global Link immediately before the mission goes live. Keep an eye peeled for the reward you can receive for completing the mission—and remember to invite your friends to join in, too!
>Note: To help celebrate the opening of the PGL, we hope to give out a special gift to all PGL members after our first successful global mission!
>On the new PGL, you’ll be able to compete in official Online Competitions as in the past, but now there’s more! A new Friendly Competition feature has been constructed that will allow you to become a competition host yourself and host original competitions where you set the regulations. Friendly Competitions allow you to hold competitions in two different styles. Recruit your friends and enjoy climactic battles!
>Online Friendlies let you battle other participants you’ve been matched with and compete for the best rating. These competitions can be open to Pokémon Trainers all around the world, or they can be set to only allow pre-approved Trainers to enter. When the number of participants exceeds a certain number, Pokémon ranking will also be calculated, just as in official Online Competitions.
>Live Competitions allow you to host a competition where you gather together with friends and others in the same space. The Digital Player ID that contains the regulations will be created as a QR Code, and by scanning in that QR Code, participants will be able to battle according to the competition’s regulations.

That's what the parts in bold are for.

Yeah that reminds me: if VGC 2017 is only Pokemon obtained in Sun and Moon then Fissure Machamp from RBY might not get to happen, unless breeding lets it happen.

So the Global Missions are pretty much Dream World 2.0?

Seems so, just less shitty. God the Dream World was so shit.

By the time I'm able to do a full run of pokemanz there'll be 10 generations
Just assign random shit like gender than gen 2 didn't have

How fucking retarded can you get?
Its going to be the same fucking game with a slightly different meta and a new coat of paint.

I understood X and Y, that shit was a leap in terms of visuals even if the gameplay remained the same, but this looks exactly like the same shit but in a Banana Republic.

Welcome friend, i know the transition from cuckchan as it cycles down might be strange but this Holla Forums is much better if you give it a chance!

see

Some of them look pretty cool.

how is what i said projecting? niggers who like megaevos tend to have alot of porn of megaevos, while a vast majority of fans think megaevos look like shit and they're correct in thinking that. just look at these fucking abortions, who the fuck ok'd these

There aren't any Gen 2 VC games yet
Gen 2 had gender, you dumb shit. Also nobody knows yet how they'll handle stats from the Gen 1 games and how they'll transfer. Once Sun/Moon does come out we will.

...

I think the beedrill mega looks okay.

XY was in 3D, but from what I've seen of it it looked pretty much the same as always.

Everything I've seen from Sun and Moon seems like they're shaking it up a bit. The core battling system is the same, but the usual gym format is nixed, among other things.

What is wrong with Mega Beedrill?

Nothing, user is just a contrarian faggot trying way too hard to fit in.

it looks like a fucking robot, compare it to it's original

which client?

aw yess

post some litten porn, my god do i want to fuck that cat

...

...

...

You say that like its a bad thing.

Did Hiroshima remove your gold pass before banning you newfag?

Nigger, people will buy this regardless.
You know this

Autists will complain about the tiniest differences and games like these will always be slighly different even if as a whole they remain the same.
Call of Duty has remained the same game every year since Modern Warfare 2 with slight changes, but its core remains the same.
Youll still see autists complain about it though

How exactly?
From what Ive seen they're still there but slightly modified.

Looks like the same biyearly shit to me

...

What's the problem with houndog?

I'm not seeing the issue here. Beedrill's shtick is "being a giant fucking wasp with spears for limbs". How is making it even more of a "giant fucking wasp with spears for limbs" a bad thing? I particularly like how its eyes look more like an actual wasp or hornet's now. And apparently the Mega actually makes it useful. It's not like poor Beedrill ever saw any play before.

Don't care. Post game content when

fuck you nigger, i'm just showing how shit the megas look, especially the ones that ruin the classic designs

this nigger gets it

oh my fuck what did they do to salamence

All of those look great, though.

Made it into a monster

Greninja truly is the Lightning of nintendo

it got voted for as the most popular Pokemon in Japan, user. They're going to milk it as much as they can.

Of those, only Salamence, Scizor, and Steelix are bad (though I never much liked Scizor compared to Scyther anyway, so I'm biased).

Pinsir is kind of in the middle for me. I like the crazy eyes, but the wing design feels off.

Gyarados looks cool though. They really built on the whole windsock theme pretty nicely.

I will never forgive whoever approved the Mega Heracross design.
The best 'mon got the worst Mega design possible, and that should tell anyone all they need to know about Megas.

Might mess with the character limit?

And then they wonder why pokemon is so shit now

Scizor has always sucked.

...

Yeah I have to agree to that, especially since they completely changed its species motif from a Japanese rhinoceros beetle to a Hercules beetle

But Mega Heracross is a legitimately good design. Regular Heracross is based off a Japanese rhinoceros beetle while Mega is based off a Hercules beetle.

...

Kabutomushi >>>>>>>>> Hercules beetle

doduo_shitting_in_moustache_man's_living_room.jpg

MAXIMUM
RIDER
POWER

...

I was gonna get the game, but these evos are so fucking ugly I don't think I will. I even liked the first form but the second and leaked third are just god awful.

just fucking pirate it

>they release the exact same game with a different cover

This. And/or box the starters like everyone else.

strawpoll.me/11362094

Content unavailable in game will be provided by a website which will also close down in less than 2 years probably, enjoy your missing berries in Generation 5 and other stuff.

It's close to the same game, but it isn't an exact copy.

...

ORAS wasn't shit, user

And you're not retarded.

I thought it was better than the original R/S at least but Emerald is way superior.

...

has nothing to do with it, battle frontier was always shit. Its the fucking horribly tacked on zinnia that fucks with the entire story of those two games.

Yeah Zinnia a shit but who cares?

Post

kill yourself

Damn right people can cry about a fucking modern remake having less content than games that came before it years in advance.

I wonder what's even the point of living

That's actually a pretty good question.

I guess RNG + the island is how you get hidden abilities in this gen.

Also, apparently screenshots from non US english websites show an Ice Stone being gotten from the mine. Probably Vulpix evo method?

So you have to buy the mega stones instead of looking for all of them?
Sounds interesting. Stops people just slapping a mega and putting a smogon team together.

Never. Battle Frontier is dead. Enjoy your monthly "global missions" for more asanine pre-school missions. Just like the "island challenges" are going to be. Navigate a simple maze. Spot the difference between two animations.

I want my pokegoyim to follow behind me like in HG/SS again

The Icy Rock has been an item for awhile, all it does is extend Hail's duration.

I remember that was my dream back in Pokemon Yellow, when they announced it in HG/SS I creamed myself

Why does every step forward in pokemon corresponds to two steps backwards?

...

Underage reddit get the fuck out.

Autism

...

And I have the autismo?
user you might want to look into a mirror before it's too late

Sorry for insulting your favorite kids marketing ploy I guess

Mega forms are super cheesy and over-the-top, but that's the point. They're supposed to be some ultimate form bullshit that you can only activate once per battle to feel super powerful and cool.
I personally fucking hate mega forms as a mechanic and hate Gamefreak for adding them, but I think they look pretty neat anyway.

Fags like you just want all the pokemon designs to become normal animals but with anime eyes again like in gen 1. You have shit taste.

I still don't get what the big deal was about that. There are better things that got lost like Berry Pots or Challenge Mode from B2W2.

Come on nigger, why was there any reason to believe those would be real? At least when Greninja, Hawlucha and the Gen V Starter evos we had more proof than just the drawings. Not that I don't like its design, it was okay.

everything just looks so awful and the music in the trailer was awful

It was the childhood dream of going on an adventure with your favorite pokemon

Oh, that. I remember my first game being Yellow and ended up boxing Pikachu as soon as I could.

You completely misunderstand user.

The design for murderclown was just so fucking awesome people wanted to believe it was real, in spite of the overwhelming odds. People put their faith in murderclown.

While I personally didn't mind OR/AS since I actually like Gen 3, I will say that HG/SS is the pinnacle of the series.

kek

...

You guys need to go home

I thought it was time to say Leaks are full of shit and belong in the trash.

but why

They're so desperate for ideas that they made bubsy into a fucking pokemon.

WHAT COULD POSSIBLY GO WRONG?!

...

...

...

Oh no you cant trick me again
I bought it on steam and

The fact the first level has an easily found secret that gives 30 lives

Its so

why does Brionne have chaika face

dafuk?

you forgot the mouth, user.

I just started up HG again the other day. It really was the apex of pokemon wasn't it?

Every game is an apex

Honestly that description sold me on getting the Borb as a starter.

BRIONNE, ON THE FRONT PAGE

no I didn't.
I thought the mouth was similar enough
and the little tooth is kinda cute

He is a boomerang now

So you don't even play pokemon but still shit on it

People still believe this. When the whole of gen 5 exists.

Why don't you just get into digimon at this point?

Gen 5 was a massive clusterfuck of a shitbomb on all fronts and the series has yet to recover from it fully. The closest things to worthwhile from that debacle were the human character designs and the international tournament.

Is the owl an attorney?

Gen 5 had the tournament and seasons. That was it.

While in fairness, Gen 5 is the only generation where I've dropped and haven't beaten a single game in it, I still have to disagree that it ruined everything on every front ever. Some of the new Pokemon designs range from bad to questionable, mostly stemming from B/W being of the "we want to head back to our roots so all of these are totally-not-gen-one Pokemon" design philosophy, but mechanically, I'm not seeing it. Mechanically, I'd argue Gen 6 did more damage than Gen 5 did. Care to elaborate?

...

This is shaping up to be another disappointing generation.

...

Did the "leaker" have any more "details" about Murderclown? I couldn't find any good info and I want to know how I should implement him.
inorganic starter never ever

YOU FUCKED IT UP

ALREADY

Who cares?

...

whaddefuck when did htis happen

All three of them look like garbage.

Got me there. That was an improvement.
That looked like trash honestly. Looked so unnatural and I'd have even preferred they just stay static.
Gen 5 had the same shit. Every gen has done this.
Cannot remember a single track outside of maybe the bad guy boss theme cause it says his name.
Already mentioned that was good
Yeah. Shame you could only activate hard mode after you beat the game, when it could be pretty much pointless at that state if you didn't care about the post game. This was seriously stupid on their part. Why not just let us pick it from the fucking start?

I mean I won't say Gen 5 was straight out shit, but people saying its the best gen I feel are only fooling themselves. Though Gen 6 was worse, even if I did like the designs more than I did with Gen 5.

Shortly after the outfit wearing pikachus

I haven't watched this show in almost a decade, but really nigga?
First notdigivolution and now not DNAdigivolution?

I disagree, but I'm willing to be a minority opinion on that. I liked that they managed to have so much animation in the sprites despite the (relatively) small size of the ROM and without killing the framerate like the move to 3D in Gen 6 did.
It was more appreciable from Gen 4 to Gen 5, though. Gen 4 was such a slog, and the slow speed of animations makes it hard to appreciate the games despite them being so good. Especially since I found myself grinding a lot in Soul Silver.
Embed related.
I always used cheats to enable it from the outset because having to unlock it on ONE of two versions was bullshit. It's existence at all is better than nothing, since once it is enabled, it's a vast improvement, but duly noted.
HGSS was the apex of the series, but I find anything earlier than Gen 5 impossible to play because of reusable TMs alone, which is a shame because BW/B2W2 are good with some flaws, and Gen 6 is nigh-irredemable shit. I'm still holding out for Sun/Moon being good enough to suck me in again like Gen 4 did.

Refer to for the website's description; it's a pseudo-Mega that you're given during the Special Demo, you're allowed to transfer it to the main games, and it's apparently the exact same Greninja that Ash uses in the current pokémon TV series.

~BUT~

i would pay for these action figures

I don't really count remixes since I already know them from other games.
I find this true if you moved from D/P/Pt to Gen 5, but not so much from HG/SS. I don't feel its nearly as sluggish.
I'm seriously baffled by the fact that they somehow managed to fuck up the framerate. I mean I feel the 3D models were really nice looking all things considered, but it mystifies me that they made it so poorly optimized. I'm honestly glad that saving was lightning fast in Gen 6 (one of the few things I can say in its favor) since Gen 4 and 5 had some slow ass fucking saving.
I disagree heavily here. I mean its an adjustment, yeah, but I find it not terribly hard.
I'll say that it looks way more promising than Gen 6 did, but I'm staying skeptical since the framerate doesn't seem to be fixed from what I've seen and there's always the feeling of "well they make it sound different but how different is it really gonna be?" So only time will tell.

It killed the frame rate all the time

You are the problem with video games.

K.

That sounds like more a problem with you than the game.
While this is a negative it doesn't change the fact that it's the only game that offers it and makes an enormous difference when compared to the rest of the series
It is the best. People complain about the linearity constantly but literally every game is linear. But at least with gen 5 it is a constant forward progression and once you're in the post-game you truly become free to do what you want when you want to and those games have the most when it comes to post-game content. Do you know how many times you need to find a specific npc to talk to before you can progress in the Johto games? two of the gym leaders won't give you a badge until you do so, and another three aren't even inside of their gyms until you find them and talk to them. Not to mention Kanto is minimized from its' original version with little to know expansion unlike the B2W2 version of Unova. At least HGSS gave us back Cerulean Cave and Seafoam islands but that doesn't really account for the removal of Pokemon Tower, Cinnabar Island, or the Power Plant. And Red? While billed as the strongest trainer in the game his highest level pokemon is a Pikachu, which even with a light ball pales in comparison to Cynthia's Garchomp which on challenge mode is only 6 levels below. And she's not the only strong trainer gen 5 had since they have two gamefreak employees, a seasonal battle against N, Alder, Alder's grandson, Colress, The triplet gym leaders, the Shadow Triad, and if you used the memory link Cheren and Bianca. HGSS has 8 more gym leaders, but PWT has all of them. When it comes to content all HGSS has on Gen 5 is following pokemon, and nostalgic regions.

Listening to it again, maybe I should rephrase. I agree that the music itself isn't memorable, but it's good and pleasant to listen to. I think I like the soundfont they used more than the music itself, it has this nice modern synthy thing going on that's appropriately modern for the setting, and it sounds nice overall. That one song is the only song that springs to mind when talking about Gen 5 music, but you're right, it is a remix instead of an original piece. If I played the games again, I might be able to tell you, but I didn't play enough Gen 5 for anything else to stick in memory.
When I played it, it looked like there were certain choices that were acceptable, and others than tanked the framerate. In particular, the idle animation where two frames showed both of the fighting Pokemon's faces had visible lag. I only remember that one because it had the greatest effect, but there were others too. I have no idea how they could've fixed it, but this is Game Freak we're talking about.
The real shame is that all of these complaints apply with the 3D effect off. It looked really nice, though, I'll admit, but the 3D effect killed the already sub-par framerate too much to be viable in any capacity.
Feels like too much of a waste when playing it. It's not the only reason I don't, there are others, but it's able to stand on it's own as a reason why.
I've been trying to temper my excitement for it. This most recent reveal has been a good testament for doing so, since every other announcement thusfar has been fueling my hype. I think the things they've announced so far have been more good than bad, so as long as they don't fuck everything up before or at launch, I'll be satisfied. I'm excited to get my hands on that demo, though, since that'll probably be the deciding factor that'll make or break my judgement on it. But yeah, only time will tell.

If it did, I never noticed it. It's more acceptable for a 2D game than a 3D game, but that's not an excuse. What is is a stable framerate. If the animations in Gen 5 did kill the framerate, it was nothing if not consistently killed, unlike Gen 6 which had an inconsistent framerate depending on what you were doing.
I really, really do wish that the game could run at a solid 60FPS like Gen 3 did. It hasn't been the same since they started targeting 30FPS starting on the DS.

How does it feel to not understand anything about programming?

On the last one, it's probably because Ash has already "Imprinted" himself onto Greninja.

fix'd

It's no secret some of you will buy this regardless.

To those of you who will, which starter will you choose?

Thanks for admitting you were wrong.

I’m just waiting for Citra to be able to emulate Pokémon games so I can play XY ORAS and SM.

Nigga I'm pirating it. The only way I'll buy it is if it actually has post game content again.

My start is gonna be Owl if Tropius isn't available in the wild, if Tropius is in I'll go for cat if it's not a fire/fighting again.

oh god please no beef cake fire final that would this would kill the cat

Sign me up for El Tigre.

so he fucked every water ninja frog?

getting moon for fat rat probably the owl

Pirating, picking owl.

>Still no Alola Gardevoir

...

I was gonna greentext and post a smug anime girl, but I'll level with you. If I'm confident the game is good enough, I'd consider shelling out money in an endeavor the complete the Pokedex. I don't know how Pokebank works. I think downloading shit off of Freeshop generates a unique "cartridge" ID like the old methods were, so I shouldn't be bound to other players, in case one fucks up and gets a "cartridge" banned, but in the event that it doesn't and Pokebank gives a shit about that, I might have to. Just because of the way transfers go, I might be forced to pay for a year of Pokebank just to complete the Dex for Sun/Moon. If Pokebank doesn't give a shit, or if Freeshop creates a more-or-less Kosher installation that Pokebank doesn't bitch about, or if the game isn't good enough to 100%, I'm not buying the game. If I can complete the dex without using Pokebank, I'm not paying any money at all.

Probably Popolio, so I can call it Chaika. re:

Won't we be able to Pokegen rather easily, now that the 3ds is hacked?

That's the epitome of no fun. Probably, but how is that relevant?

its mostly gen 1 getting revamped don't hope on it for another gen or two

Salamence is now rebel scum.

Can someone post those leaks that are now becoming true, the one with the sketches of the final evos and the characters

these are looking better and better

I wanted assassin creed owl so badly

see

shitcurity wins again, faggots!

I have been a fan of the franchise and have bought at least one main series game from each generation since Pokemon Yellow

I am now a jaded as fuck adult though and can no longer afford to keep buying these games, that's why I'm glad 3DS piracy is now a thing

Every generation has fillers

the names though are probably a result of cancerous Treehouse meddling though

Kill yourself pls

What a cozy feeling. I am actually enjoying the game again.

Did they died?

I'd like to add something about the new 5th gen pokemon,

They all had their own niche and very few came out as utterly crap, even those who don't fare so well in competitive had their own in game niches. A sizable number pokemon introduced in Gen 5 had a unique typing (Volcarona, Chandelure, Hydreigon, Ferrothorn etc.) and even then, their stats were specialised for that niche which made running through the game with a set team enjoyable rather than wondering if it's worth swapping out Rapidash for Arcanine (which in Gen 1 pretty much did the same thing). No two pokemon filled the same role.

Were better than the real ones.

Yeah, when I first saw them I thought it was fake because no way does anyone there have any talent to create good designs.

It will only be enough when her mouth is glued around my dick.

Wow, maybe in another 10 years it won't be jaggedy as fuck and have nothing but flat colour textures.

Will the hacked 3DS be able to get the demo from the eshop, plus transferring ash-greninja to a pirate version of the game?

And more, will we be able to get the pre-order bonus with the pirated version?

REAL men pirate MOON and choose BORB

...

...

only furfags are gonna like you. so get ready for inflation, gore, and scat, you smug little cunt

Why waste time with a demo when you can just use AR to hack yourself what you want?

...

Why waste your time with AR when you can just edit your save?

Not him, but I care about the framerate. Why the fuck would they render the fights in 3d if the framerate starts to chug. Nintendo cares more about "grafix" and it shows that they are willing to put gameplay over it.

I'll just throw it in with the rest of shit i have

These are the only starters I will accept. If we get the fucking wrestler cat, I'm releasing my starter as soon as I can.

So Fire-Fighting?

well, i rest my case

Maybe Fire/Dark?

Fire/Dark apparently. But it's a fucking wrestler, so it might as well be fighting.

...

No one wanted your edgy fanfiction starters drawfag, quit posting them.

I wish I could draw that good.

Alola forms are for gen 1 only, unfortunately. Though yes, I’d like another Gardevoir.

what gotta have variety mate

With ORAs and the multiplayer being so fucking broken, I'm finally done. Showdown killed any interest I had, not to mention the tonnes of breeding I had to do in game which results in a mon that still gets it's asshole hammered by shit like Moody Smeargle that just so happens to get + accuracy and spams Sheer Cold.

I'd have picked the Owl so far.

I wanted them too

FUCK YOU, i do

Fuck Megas. Pokemon Sage when?

I actually really like all these starters, the only other starters I feel this way about are Gen 1's. Hopefully Tiger Mask isn't fire/fighting.

You know I liked these three, but the faggots who just can't let it go that they're not real are the worst.

The spitting acid/poison? and using a chair as a weapon seem to suggest he's supposed to be a heel which leaves a lot of people hoping it'll be fire/dark since in japan fighting types are portrayed typically more noble fighters whereas dark types are meant to represent fighting dirty. Also no more main characters from Journey to the West to base him on anymore. Though it's possible these starters are continuing gen 6's trend of being based on rpg classes where they were Knight, Mage, and Ninja, the new ones are Archer, Brawler, and Bard.

I have literally never seen pic of these fakes outside of Holla Forums. I'm convinced it's just 5 people obsessing over them.

Never.

...

Fuck now I got to try and use them all on one team now.

no one is looking forward if it does happen fire beef cake cat

Were they too good for this world?

...

I like it, I like it a lot.

I thought it couldn't get worse than these leaks, and yet I was still disappointed by the real ones

Git fucking gud, scrub

no, i fell in love with the fakes, i always had doubt because i'm a cynical piece of shit that always expects the worse, but i love the design fake starters and i grew attached to them

A good game is a good game. You having shit taste doesn't change that fact.

absolutely

i remember an user a couple threads ago trying to find the artist for a commission, did he ever find the drawfag?

You mean the SHIT one
The mermaid is SHIT
SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT

WHY HAVE EZIO WHEN YOU CAN HAVE EDGEWORTH?

Your autism has been noted already.

...

It's a premise that could be good but they just play it safe every single game

but its not, its gonna be an archer with armpit strings

WEW

Shouldn't you be off playing Call of Duty?

...

There are games that did turn based combat way better. The simple turn based combat Pokemon had was obsolete even when it came out.

The combat in pokemon is timeless, casual. Not everything has to be ATB garbage, you don't need to reinvent the wheel every time. I don't see anyone making chess retarded because "MUH FUTURE".

Isn't the inverse of this complaint the main criticism of Final Fantasy?

What said FF and SMT are all great but that doesn't mean there can't be a little comfy game for winding down.

Why can't we have nice things like this?

these are great

At least do something differently. It's just dull to me to play the same game that hasn't changed since the 90s

Every time a new Pokemon game comes out I like it even less because it just feels like I'm just playing the same game with more stuff in it.

Most of the people I talk to who regularly play the series talk about having the same fatigue and the only reason they play it is because they're invested in the multiplayer and don't want to be left behind. Nobody cares about the storyline or characters or anything people actually buy rpgs for.

There's little difference between someone buying the next Pokemon game to play the multiplayer with buying the next Call of Duty game for the multiplayer.

Except they are different. You can't see it because of your crippling autism.

But user, Nocturne has you catching them all via demons. Not to mention you can mix them for new demons. Pokemon is what eases youngfags into games with more mechanics like the SMT series.

I though fire starters were the chinese zodiac?

How do you gitgud in a game where- even if you use the best tools available to you- the only way to beat it is to guess what your opponent is going to do?
I mean in other games, if you fuck up you still have some chance to come back if you learn from your mistakes. But in Pokemon, one bad move and you might as well quit the match.

Yeah, Pokemon's RPG is for little kids user. It's the multiplayer metagame that is for adults. That's just how things are, made for kids but deep enough for adults to get in to.

Only Pokemon's multiplayer is actually good, strategic gameplay that allows for fascinating strategies mixed with intense battles at a comfy pace.

… By learning all the strategies the opponent might throw at you and how to counter them? Is this a joke question?

And that's great and all for Single player RPGs. Pokemon is not a Single Player RPG. It's a Single Player RPG with a heavy metagame revolving around multiplayer. And I'm willing to bet that Pokemon Gen IV is deeper than Nocturne mechanically.

The differences are largely superficial

You get the same experience playing each one. They only add things like "mega evolutions" and other pointless additions to the bloated battle mechanics to make you think like they're actually doing something beyond just adding a different region and 100 extra monsters to the game

And that's just patronizing to me. Nobody says the same thing about the Legend of Zelda. I still love games like A Link to the Past and Majora's Mask and nobody claims it's "little kid shit"

Yeah and it's the same exact game every single time, just with more additions added to it.

Like they could vary the gameplay mechanics, change the stat and battle system completely into a more streamlined and less "grind/breed to win" system. Streamline the outdated grid based isometric movement. They could adapt so much that was just there at the time because it was made for a 2D GB screen. But they won't because they're afraid the series will stop selling enormously well because it appeals to autists.

Because the Japanese developers are running on creative fumes. They're running out of ideas and desperately need a mix up of employees to bring some originality back to the franchise.

That's the autism talking. And it's not all just Blaziken, Infernape, and Emboar share a lot in common with three major characters. Though Blazinken feels like a stretch because I've only seen one thing that portrays one of the disciples as a bird. Still less of a stretch than the zodiac theory.

What the fuck are you going on about? You might as well say that Smash is a legit fighting game while you are at it! That might be the case now with modern pokemon but that shit didn't really take off until nintendo saw that they could just rehash the same game while changing minor shit in the background.

That's exactly how yearly franchises works. You fucks are being duped and you defend the practice for free while condemning others who do the same.

How do you counter a mon that uses Dark Void, and then Sheer Cold?
Sure you can Taunt it, but then it Skill Swaps moody onto it's ally and that kicks your teeth in.

I'm not saying it's impossible. I'm saying in higher ranked matches, you don't win because you outfoxed your opponent, you win because you got lucky and guessed right. In other multiplayer games you can at least bait your opponent into making an error in your favor. But all the hours of planning, calculating and preparing, and it all boils down to who was lucky enough to pick the right move when the opponent picked the wrong one first.

There's just better single player RPGs, and better multiplayer games. I do love the concept of Pokemon, I've just lost the autism of trying to keep up with smogon fags.

But it's not a yearly franchise. Besides what's it matter to you what other people are playing anyway?

You're using the term superficial wrong, user. It's an objective fact that over 6 generations there have been concrete mechanics changes and new mechanics added in. Gen 2 introduced the special stat split, weather effects, new types, items. Gen 3 revamped the EV and IV system and introduced abilities. Gen 4 introduced the special/physical split. Gen 5 introduced new battle types. Gen 6 did Megas and more technical moves than before. You're being disingenuous for the sake of being contrary.

These designs are cool, but each starter's final evo having black as one of their colors is overload. If you pick any generation's starters, you find that none of them share the same color between the 3. 2 might share similar colors, but never do all 3 share the same. Each design is very nice on their own, but put together and it's too much edge at once.

Not being an idiot is a good start.

I never said Pokemon is "little kid shit", I said the story and single player RPG is, the meta is for adults. Good job missing the whole point.

You say that like it's a bad thing? There is nothing wrong with a game developing over generations without throwing out it's original intent because casuals like you can't handle playing the same game more than once.

>>>/reddit/

We've had a dragon, a mouse (kind of), a rooster, a monkey, a pig, a fox, and now a tiger.

The tiger is the only odd one out, unless Fox is in another Zodiac I don't know.

But how do the above match up with Journey to the West?
I know the pig, the monkey king, and the water thing (which I assume is the Kappa), and the buddist priest. But who are the others?

You are being tricked into having artificial fun you fucking casual.

nuggetbridge.com/blogs/entry/1391-a-history-of-japanese-competitive-pokemon-1996-and-1997/

You know absolutely nothing about pokemon. Feel free to shut the fuck up about it.

user if people who didn't know shit about Pokemon weren't able to speak their mind these threads wouldn't make it past 10 posts

Things that just slightly vary the exact same battle system

Things that just slightly vary the stat system. Not even change it, just rearrange things around so it is slightly different

This is all pointless when it avoids the problem that the game still contains the exact same battle system and gameplay. Aside from a handful of things they mostly changed largely because they had to find ways to make the new pokemon relevant compared to the old ones.

This is like someone saying to me "B-but user. Call of Duty Advanced Warfare has Jetpacks. And you can spray paint things on your guns. it's totally a different game." or "But user. Madden 2017 has a new rouster. And it has the ability to change the jersey of your characters. Plus different weather effects change the way dirt handles in the game. It's a totally different game"

You mean skinner boxing? Lots of small victories handed out for very little challenge?

While I don't think Pokemon has gotten as bad as mobile games (though I bet the island challenge puzzles will be casual as fuck), I agree with you.

Apart from teleport-mazes and self imposed restrictions (nuzlocke), Pokemon is casual.

Not that there's anything wrong with casual- if you play it occasionally. But if you haven't played other RPGs, you owe it to yourself to try more challenging ones. Pokemon is comfy as fuck, and that's how they rope you in.

Oh okay I understand now: you're one of those fags who want Pokemon to be an action RPG since you have ADHD and are bored by a nice turn based RPG

Yep, and I'd be happier for it.

BRO WHY DOESN'T POKEMON HAVE LIKE SWEET REAL TIME BATTLES WHERE YOU CAN LIKE BASH POKEMON IN THE FACE AND SHIT BRO

BRO CHESS WOULD BE SO MUCH MORE HYPE IF IT HAD LIKE EXPLOSIONS AND TITAAYS WOOOOOO YEAH

Also everything you posted is wrong.

There is a tiger zodiac. And really it's a stretch to say that Delphox is the dog or Typhlosion is rat. But for me the biggest argument against it is that the order they've been released is neither the proper order of the zodiacs nor have they really ever matched the year they came out in.

And as I said the journey to the West theme is isolated to just those three due to having the same types and themes to them.

I would add that Double Battles added something new, but apart from some spin-off games they almost forget about it in-game.

While it's the tournament "standard", but it's still the same game with the same inherent problems (and those that are removed are replaced with new, even more irritating ones)

Pokemon is the only game series where people praise stagnation, and shriek at the idea of "maybe something different would actually make the game better?"

Like in no other franchise do people defend a dev making the same shitty story, premise, gameplay, and everything else and make excuses like "well the entire story of the game is for little kids user, but the real game is tediously grinding so you can claim you were better because you spent 100 hours more than the other guy".

Streamlining isn't a bad thing. You seem to misunderstand streamlining and assume it refers to dumbing down mechanics. Streamlining is often necessary to avoid some awkward part of the game (like grinding or running around pointlessly for breeding) and things that waste your time that people generally dislike. Things that are commonly associated with turn based rpgs that good ones like Shin Megami Tensei Nocturne avoid

I screwed up and meant to say Fox didn't match, but your point still stands.
Though not being released in the right year/order doesn't seem to be a major issue.

I never said do "real time battles". There are plenty of examples of turn based games with better combat than Pokemon.

totally convinced yo

Double battles is different but it's still completely un-focused upon.

Like I'm just imagining a pokemon game where all of your team fights at once, something like Final Fantasy tactics. Where you need to make each pokemon work together and react differently to one another. Like one can join attacks with another. Something like that. Something different than just the same thing over and over.

Mystery dungeon has some of it but it's more of a rogue-like and less of what I'm talking about.

Why don't you just play FFT then and leave Pokemon alone?

Pokemon Conquest had that, it set in Nobonaga's era and stuff.
Reviews & consumer reviews were tepid and they never did it again.

Because FFT wasn't a perfect game and I could imagine a game with breeding, different races evolving into each other and shit doing the concept better.

And that I think is part of the problem. I really get the sense Nintendo is too scared to try anything actually different with Pokemon because they're afraid their big money making franchise that often become the reason why people buy DS's and 3DS's wouldn't sell as well.

Because every long lasting game series, specifically rpgs that have changed their core games are met with a resounding chorus of :go back to how it used to be"

Look I'm not going to pretend that I wouldn't want them to try something new, in fact pokken tournament exists as a result of them considering shaking up the battle system. But the difficulty is that they want to let people keep the ones they've already caught which the inability to do so turns me off to most of the others in this sub-genre that aren't SMT and until they can figure out the how to make it possible to adjust allocate the old monsters into the new battle system, they're gonna stick with what works.

Sure it's not the most active rpg out there, and sure I dislike gen 6 and Yokai Watch for being piss-easy and for playing itself, but can you just let me have my simple monster raising game, I'm asking you I'm begging you nicely, please just let the autists have this one so they won't infest whatever games you believe are the pinnacle of the genre.

I just figure if you're going to run with a theme make it clear enough so it's obvious to people who aren't your average game theory viewers.

That's not a good thing if a developer listens to that. If they do, that just means they lack confidence in actually creating art and see it more like a business that prints money.

And it's not entirely accurate. For instance Square did vary things up with Final Fantasy. Final Fantasy 5 took the job system from the previous games and made it modular. Changed it so that classes could be swapped in and out with characters and different abilities could be learned from them. Imagine if there was a pokemon game where you could swap the types of the different Pokemon around, how radically that would alter the entire game and make it more personalized and customizeable.

I think criticism and taking risks with older games is what makes it become better later on.

Like always my biggest problem with Pokemon has been that it's a monster raising game where you do very little actual "raising" besides fighting each other. Like I'm just imagining if they made it so that every pokemon you caught had a set personality and reacted differently to NPCs in the world. Characters reacted differently if you had a pokemon following you around. If it grew old and died. If you'd get bonuses for having offspring of that Pokemon in your party. If you had to do sim-like things like feed them regularly like in Digimon World (which is one of my favorite jrpgs because it makes me feel like I'm actually raising a living creature. That I have to feed, clean up after, get it to exercise and it goes through a life cycle and dies of old age).

That's true for all their franchises.
NoA keeps telling them everything is fine, and the money is (relatively) rolling in, so why wouldn't it be good?

They're blind to the massive casual audience they got, along with the new advisors that live and breath "lowest common denominator".
Except it's not just casual as in wanting easy games, it's casual as in they only buy a few games a year. Niche titles won't appeal to them, and even if you did pump out Mario/Zelda etc as much as possible, eventually they'll get fatigued and stop.

They can't beat the browser and app market for junk-food gaming.

Not necessarily. Like at least with Zelda Nintendo tries to make each game in the series distinctive. Like say what you will about Skyward sword, it at least had a different setting that was radically different than the previous ones. The gameplay and handholding were trash but it at least tried something else. And you can see throughout the Zelda series there's a general trend to "let's take something from the previous game and do something different".

Like they had two Zelda games where even the control scheme was different. Link had to draw his attacks with a stylus pen. And another one where he rode trains everywhere. And another one that was surreal and inspired by Twin Peaks that made fun of the general conventions of the series. And another that was dark and had a body-horror esque moment at the start of it and forced you to complete your objectives within 3 days to avoid the world ending

I guess we have some different values then. The reason I prefer the pokemon games over digimon is the fact that you can send your guys up to the next up. I still have the wishmaker Jirachi from ruby version. Not to mention I definitely think having your pokemon eventually die off would eventually become something you see more as an inconvenience than something that is fosters a greater emotional attachment.

I do like this though, and there are steps towards it with the effects of pokemon amie and the newer version of it where grooming your pokemon also cures status effects. Personally I want to see them go further and introduce a way to customize pokemon's appearances through grooming or dress them up in some way, kind of like they did with Furfrou. Also there's a leak that states there's a cat pokemon that gets new types via breeding though I wouldn't mind seeing something like this effect any pokemon instead of just having them learn new moves based on the father. Though this technically they are doing something like this with alola forms

where'd that garbage layout come from?

Nah, suck it casual.

OH BOY, E-SPORTS DO IT AGAIN

Grinding is an outdated way for rpgs to extend playtime and make the game seem more difficult than it actually is.

There are plenty of examples of jrpgs where you don't have to grind. A good example is Shin Megami Tensei Nocturne

In SMT Nocturne I never felt like ever grinding because regardless of your level, if your type was exploited it would gain new turns for the opponent. Even if your demon was much more powerful than the opponent, the opponent could still do more moves like he could buff himself or debuff you. Which were usually way more useful than actual attacks and could decimate the party. It felt more like every single encounter in the game could be outwitted rather than "go back to an earlier area and stomp a few creatures for an hour"

Breeding is an actually good mechanic but having to run around for your egg to hatch, check it's EV's to make sure it's competitive and keep doing that til you get one that's actually good gets really old

And it's not something that's necessary. They could redo breeding entirely and make it more akin to demon fusion in SMT Nocturne. Where it's instant, demons can usually be fused anyone but fusing with a specific one is better and there's an entire science towards which types breed stronger demons together. There is some of that in Pokemon but it's barely explained ingame, takes forever and I ended up always having to read entire web pages on how it works. I felt the same with EVs. Whereas in SMT Nocturne it's simpler, more focused on, and necessary to get boss monsters and to get the strongest demons in the game into your party

Like imagine if breeding was a way bigger deal and it was required to get the Legendary or rarest Pokemon in the game. Rather than just getting slightly better stated Pokemon. Like catching every single one was more of a necessity to actually get the stronger ones and less tcg autist bait.

Too large of tweaks and you threaten to make a whole new game. For instance, Quake 3 may look similar to Quakeworld – both are arena shooters, they share many weapons, there's some degree of map control necessary to play both – but because of the minor differences between the two, they play radically different. Someone with a lot of time in Quake 3 will have learned to aim much better than someone who's put a lot of time in Quakeworld, for instance, because of the emphasis on weapons that require incredibly precise aim, compared to Quakeworld, which needs a bit more aim for the Lightning Gun, and significantly less for the Rocket Launcher and Grenade Launcher, with a drop-off in significance for the rest of the weapons. Two games, same series, significantly different metagame and skillset.
Pokemon is two things: a monster collection game and a turn-based RPG. Each iteration of the series slightly tweaks the mechanics of both of these, just enough so that the games are different, and (generally) worthy of a new game with a new game price tag, but not enough to make a whole new game with the same name on it. To people who care, there's enough changes to justify playing a new game. (Or, if they don't, there's not, and they wait for the next game to have enough changes to justify playing.) To people who don't, it looks stagnant.
If you don't like it, fuck off and play a different game. Sperging out about it in this thread gets you nowhere, you autistic nigger.

capped for great justice. 599978 has probably never even played a Pokemon game before

This

Grinding in pokemon is raising your pokemon. POKEMON ISN'T SMT you fucking autist. As I said before one is a SINGLE PLAYER RPG about being a total edgelord faggot. The other is about raising and training monsters. Grinding makes sense.

Honestly you're a fucking moron, I don't want to read the rest of this trash. Sorry you don't like Pokemon being Pokemon and not being SMT. Consider being less butthurt about it.

You are so far gone it's ridiculous.

These games were never perfect. Like I never considered Quakeworld or Quake 3 "perfect games". Like I even thought at the time Unreal Tournament was better. But they could have been improved, dramatically. And were in other games because Id was interested in just repackaging the same game in a browser with Quake Live and are trying to play it safe with the newest Quake champions

"If you don't like Skyrim, fuck off and play a different game"

Am I still on Holla Forums? when did people get this buttmad about negative opinions about their favorite franchise

On the topic of grinding. That's part of the reason why NPC trainers exist since they hand out more EXP and why I like Challenge mode on B2W2 since it's less of a grind and if you manage yourself just right and battle all of the NPCs you see you can easily come out of victory road with pokemon matching the E4 and Champion's levels which is the only time that's happened for me.

And breeding has also been made easier on B2W2 with Joint avenue or secret bases in ORAS where you can set up trainers that will warm eggs for you making them easier to hatch.

So Manaphy and Phione?

Honestly the danger comparing pokemon to SMT is that you're not supposed to get attached to the demons in SMT you straight up are just using them for your own goals so it's no matter when you get rid of them through fusion as your just getting a stornger demon out of it, not unlike dropping your current weapon for a better one in traditional rpgs. Where if they did that with pokemon it'd be pretty hypocritical given how much they've invested in the 'you grow stronger through the bond you share'.

Name your favorite game, faggot. I'll suggest some tweaks for it.

...

Why?

because it was in the older games?

This turns into a "rpg=combat" thing. The game doesn't need to be an autistic "grind 100 hours to get the best EV trained pokemon so you can stomp people" thing.

You know it could be a game with an actual campaign you care about, and a multiplayer that doesn't require grinding. It doesn't have to be the exact same game over and over. There are examples of games that have done this successfully. I think you're too afraid of change.

The biggest contradiction to me with Pokemon has always been the EXP Share

It's something that was included entirely because of just how repetitive and annoying grinding is in Pokemon. It almost cuts down grinding time in half and was just made to make a really annoying gameplay mechanic slightly less annoying. Rather than gutting it and doing something more fun

That's two. Now imagine if you actually had to do this inorder to get the best Pokemon in the game.

Does this sound annoying? Yes. Now imagine if they made breeding less annoying, didn't require you to run around for half an hour, and encouraged it with customization. Like breeding a rattatta in would change it's type to normal.

I would play a Pokemon game with breeding like that. As it stands just changing stats in a random number generator bores me.

Because that's how you train Pokemon, you dumb shit. Battles are practice.

Okay so you want an RPG without combat and grinding? Maybe you should play Undertale, that would be perfect for you :^)

I never implied that Quakeworld or Quake 3 were perfect games. Your idea that games need to be perfect in order to warrant slight iterations is retarded, especially considering you want Pokemon to be more like SMT, a series which has enough changes between sequels to be as different as QW and Q3. You think your "you don't have to grind the other mechanics work it all out for you" would work in Strange Journey? In the SNES games? Not to mention, we're talking about a series with such drastic mood swings that it has offshoots of
All with the SMT name attached. This isn't even mentioning the MMO, or the pre-Shin MT games. Or Jack Bros. Or the Devil Children games.
There's nothing wrong with a game making minor iterations on each subsequent game even if each iteration is imperfect. A series of six 5~8/10 games is more video games than a single 10/10 game, and can accrue just as much of a following and discussion therein. You'd make a better case leveling an argument that Game Freak can't make a game worth a shit than bitching about how all Pokemon games ever are the same, but that still wouldn't erase the fact that it's not the end of the world.
Not an argument. People were discussing the game fine until you showed up, few porn dumps, few waifushit posts, mostly gameplay discussion. Video game discussion is against the rules on Holla Forums, no matter if you like the game or not. And don't even try and bring up non-game discussion threads like Undermeme or Neptunia and try and compare those to this one, faggot.

Satsuki a shit

...

Nah, I'd rather battle and capture them. Soft resetting for a shiny if I want to.

see, I told you fucks he's never played Pokemon before.

So just because it was in the older games. Got it.

You're no different to me than someone who defends buying Call of Duty or Assassin's Creed every year.

You know they could make the levelling up system actually fun and engaging and not require grinding. Could make multiplayer enjoyable right at the start of the game rather than hundreds of hours later.

Strawman. I never said that. I see "tradition" as a retarded argument. These mechanics are broken and the only reason you're defending them is "because it's always been like that".

I never thought I'd see a quantity over quality argument on Holla Forums. I thought this was the same site that shits on games like Call of Duty and Assassin's Creed. Next you're going to say "why aren't you preordering assassin's creed good goy. 10 4/10 games is more game than a 10/10 game any day"

Come now… I bet he played Gen 1&2 :^).

No because how else would you train Pokemon?
Who cares? Your opinion doesn't matter considering you have shit opinions.
Prove it.
Prove it.

Also you didn't answer my question, faggot:

Even if he did that he would see how retarded he's being.

You can have XP in combat but you don't need to have grinding. I've linked jrpgs that don't have grinding earlier in the thread.

You don't even need to have numerical stat based rpgs anymore. There are countless examples of games that have for instance perk based systems. Which are faster and more interesting. Since you can make character builds and leveling up is more of an event rather than a routine

I have. Earlier in the thread. I've used examples of other games that did it better.

Found the Nuifag.
Mako >>>>> Nonon > Ryuko > Eyebrows >>>>> Dogshit > Nui >>>>> Pigshit > CUNT
My opinion is the correct one.

They're simple, but the work. As a matter of fact, they're a simplified version of MT, no less.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Cawadooty is liked by certain people for certain reasons, mainly regarding the PS2 games, zombies, and Ravensoft iterations. Assassin's Creed was always shit. There's a difference between a series of 10+ 1~8/10 games and one with six 5~8/10 games. There's no objectively shit mainline game, just subpar and spectacular ones mixed together.
You're comparing apples to oranges and expecting to get away with it as an argument.
Even if it were the worst thing ever and you're so fucking bootyblasted it's nuclear, there's technically nothing in the rules that prevents people from talking about shit games as long as it's about the game itself. Just because you don't like video games don't make them not video games, and just because you don't like the discussion of those video games doesn't make it against the rules to discuss. Shitposting in threads full of vidya discussion is also against the rules, but Mark's too fat a faggot to stop marathoning ice cream cakes and ban you, so I know that won't stop you.
Nobody's racing out to buy this game tomorrow. Cautious optimism, but not shilling. If you can't tell the difference, you might need a break from the internet.

...

Guess I know who I'm picking

That's stupid. Why would you suggest Pokemon do shitty stupid gameplay mechanics like that?

Please leave, underaged.

Wrong, retard
Shit >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> anybody from KLK

I've heard fantasy tales of people who managed to get a perfect Pokémon in less than 2 hours. This is not true, you can go well over 16 hours of playtime if you want to get perfect IVs, perfect EVs, favourable nature, egg moves, necessary ability/skill, and of course, getting it to level 100. I haven't played Gen 5 that much, but HGSS was terribly slow at levelling Pokémon, and it took me several weeks of endless E4 to get my (non perfect IV, I got tired of that shit by the second Pokémon) team at full potential just to discover it wasn't optimal for competitive matches, so I had to start again.

Pokémon is one of the grindiest RPG ever, but tourneyfags won't ever tell you that because, even though they pretend to do this by hand, they actually just Pokésav to cheat their Pokémon in.
>"Oh, this shiny level 100 Tyranitar, with 31*5 IV, 252/252/6 EVs, four egg moves, favourable nature, favourable ability and with a hidden ability? It just took me two hours to get it, even though it's just a 1/whoknowshowmanyquintillionplanetseggs (that got reduced to 1/justafewquatrillion with the correct autistic and grindy breeding techniques) chances Pokémon. Just because you can't open two million eggs in a simple afternoon demonstrates how little you know about Pokémon"
Shows how much Pokésav you have used.

t. someone who actually breeds his Pokémon

Yeah uh I can do all of that within an hour. It's not as fucking hard as you're making it out to be.

Speak for yourself, scrublord.

Getting a perfect IV Pokémon has, after fucking around with Destiny Knots for hours, a 1 in 200 chance. This isn't counting the required buildup for this, which makes the chances even lower. It also doesn't take into account the other variables, like nature, ability, egg moves and the likes. I am not even taking into account the necessary grinding to even start doing this.

It takes between 3 to 5 minutes to acquire and open an egg, being extremely efficient. No way you can open 100 eggs (average) in an hour.

Do you seriously need one hour to input all that data into the Pokésav, you scrub?

m8 I can't believe it but you must be shit at breeding Pokemon

I still don't get why people get buttmad about it. I know the answer is "foolz did a bait and switch for epic lulz at /a/'s expense," and people were dumb enough to fall for it, but I still don't get it. Nobody kneejerks rage without there being an ulterior motive, so I know it's not just an argument of "it's shit I don't like it." Or are you of the "It's modern so it's automagically shit" variety? I know you're not a "reeee weebs out" because I've already posted plenty of anime.
It's just a reaction image you double nigger. Calm down.

Blissey Bases say hi.

I'm just shitposting, m8

Pokemon are defaulted to their stats at 50 barring EVs in online matches. Unless you're leveling a Legendary for it's unique move or a Volcarona for Fiery Dance, most pokemon can compete at 70 or 80 move wise, or earlier if you just use the infinite TMs.

In Omega Ruby you can fill your base with Chansey players, delete their bases and replace them with other chancey players, steal about 6 lucky eggs from Pelliper (all you have to do is use thief on them and chain it with the Pokenav), then use your EXP O-Power to boost EXP further.

In X and Y, you can fight in the Cafes infinitely which is better then Omega Ruby because your O-Power lasts for the whole set of battles and regens to max afterward because of the passed time. Got my Lucario to 100 in about 1 hour and because of the EXP share, team was in the 90s.

Grinding is worse the earlier the game is, but not by that much. You're actually better off grinding levels in MT. Silver since you don't have to go through the whole speil of credits each time, which saves time overall.

But enough about that gay shit, post favorite teams. No one online really trains EVs enough to matter because I don't and I have a good win record.

Lucario, Lilligant, Scizor, Volcarona, Aegislash, Crobat.

If you can do all this shit within an hour then it's a pretty accessible timeframe. Why don't you record a video of yourself showing us your secret totally-not-Pokésav method for everyone to see?

Step 1, download chansey bases via QR code
Step 2, get them in your base
Step 3, download more bases
Step 4, Get lucky eggs via Pelliper Theif strategy, add a Compoundeyes mon to the mix to make it quicker
Step 5, get level limiter off with that base object that does that
Step 6, fucking level.

Also, I will literally post my chansey base so you can stop wasting time with leveling. All my grunts have Chansey teams, and you can fight them after a day's passed. It's even easier for you.

that owl just keeps growing on me, what an autist.
the brionne entry kind of disturbs me. like some kind of abused circus performerl.

That's very nice of you, thank you.

However, 92c9d1 insists not only that he can get to lvl 100 in one hour (which seems to be possible in the last gens at least; I am glad to see they are making stuff more accessible for non-Pokésav players), but that he can also perfectly breed them in that timeframe, and that's where I call bullshit, namely by the fact that you confirmed it takes that hour to get them to lvl 100 in newer gens (it used to be way more than that in HGSS, tho).

If you have the right tools it can take less than an hour so long as you're not shooting for 6IVs (which you don't need in most situations).

All you really need is Speed, your chosen attack stat, and maybe defense/sdefense if you're not breeding a sweeper.

Mega Beedrill and Mega Gyarados look great. Kill yourself.

True but breeding triggers my autism so I always go for 5 with a dump stat and have fun doing it.

I've stuck with the entire series since Yellow and yes, it is basically the same fucking game.

I completely stopped bothering with the mainline series after enjoying Gen V because full fledged 3D didn't change shit.

I'm gonna pick the cat.

Not that I care if you buy or pirate it, but neither Treehouse nor NoA is not involved with Pokemon. It's all in house with the pokemon Company and they already have the japanese translation built into all regions of the game anyway.

NOA is still involved with Pokemon to an extent. Their biggest contribution nowadays is product testing (Lotcheck), they help out with localization some as well.
bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Staff_of_Pokémon_Omega_Ruby_and_Alpha_Sapphire

You have the right idea tho, TPC does a lot of the work that usually NOA would be doing for other Nintendo games.

They are fairly better than NoA when it comes to localization. They basically seized control over the anime when they found out what 4kids was doing, and they gave the option for Japanese voices in Pokken tournament, something that isn't all that common for NoA to do.

you're a funny guy

Requesting sauce on that gif
