The first WRITTEN enumeration of the accepted books of the NT came in a Christmas letter from a Bishop over a hundred years later I forget which Bishop and exactly when, doing this from memory. It was done in response to a heretic who published their own significantly altered, too version of some of the Gospels. That same enumeration is still used today by the Eastern Orthodox, Roman Catholic, and Protestants, I don't know for sure about the Oriental Orthodox, but it was made at a time pre-schism when the whole Church was Orthodox, including Rome.
The Bible itself tells you that it is not complete. Several times in the Epistles, Paul tells you to hold onto the teachings that you have received, both in writing and otherwise. The feeding of the five thousand the first of two miracles of this type with the 2 fish and the 5 loaves is iconic, an image of the Church. The five loaves represent the five books of the Law, which are broken open in Christ, and the 2 fish are the 2 books of the fishermen, the Gospels and the Epistles. For those who believe that the Bible founded the Church a logically as well as factually flawed belief, a rhetorical question: it's a fact that the earliest writings of the NT were those of Paul and were done decades after the Crucifixion. For your safety, I believe it's wiser for you to congregate with people whose core doctrines are sound. For the rest of society's sake, I believe we need more Protestants to return to the Reformation. I know it seems weird to nit pick about one particular doctrine, but your doctrine of salvation is the lens through which you interpret all of the rest of scripture. If you get this doctrine wrong, God forbid, there's not a whole hell of a lot standing between you and Christian Zionism.
