For the last few days, discord has been instigating a huge purge of mods and admins on right wing servers. Even though it should have been apparent a long time ago that the mods there are huge leftists, people have kept using their shitty, bug ridden, software. If you need a way to chat with your fashy goyim online, start using riot.im. Its a highly secure chat client, with end to end encryption options. The servers are decentralized, so if the owners of the service start trying to kick people off (which is unlikely as some of /ourguys/ are helping to contribute to the project), we can host our own version with relative ease.

It's not proprietary. Both Riot and matrix are under the Apache License 2.0 license.
I played around with Riot for a little while to see if I could use it instead of Discord server. The main downside is that there are no server, but only channels. From what I understand matrix / Riot is pretty much just an irc server (plus the fact of E2E encryption and decentralization). You can send private messages to people, join a channel, moderate your channel. If you need something like Discord which has "virtual" servers and for your server you can create multiple channel, Riot won't work for you. Riot does seem like a good alternative if you are able to fit everything you need into a single channel.

#oldwarez (efnet) represent! I used ircII with BitchX script, that had encryption I think. It was more of a novelty back then though. Don't use irc much today, but I've been on freenode a couple times to ask question. Never used any modern chat clients, no point. IRC does everything I want, works over ssh, and you can leave it running in screen/tmux to reattach anytime. Sometimes used (y)talk also.
