That happened to me too when I was new. Just tell me what software you use and what settings.

Adobe Premiere at least has 2 options, dynamic bitrate and fix bitrate. If you chose fix it will use a fix amount of bitrate that will stay the same all the time, e.g. your file size will be whatever the software predicted. But if you chose something dynamic it use more if it thinks it needs more and that's why you end up having huge filesizes.
