PNG images have a tag signifying the end of image data within their format specification. You can store arbitrary data after that tag and before the end of file, so Illusion cleverly started using that space to hold character attributes.

I usually have no real problems or difficulties installing it. It just feels like a whole ordeal.

The game uses an filter on the textures that doesn't play very nicely with the diffuse maps of the textures. The end result is artifacts and weird behaviour to light.
People have found solutions to this, debanding the textures and saving them uncompressed solved this. I guess it takes a while to do, haven't tried myself.

I currently have all the mods available working, wide slider, uncensorer, additional bone adjustment, jap ultimate autism (the ultra extended light adjuster made by some jap), skin swapping thing and something else I must be forgetting. The modding scene on this game is very well matured, the mods work fine and the game is stable; I'm more inclined to believe this was some human mistake.

It happened to me and it turned out to be due to a corrupt card. Try removing them from the folder one by one till you find which ones are fucking you. Also seems that the cards saved from Holla Forums seemed to work when I renamed them to a shorter name and opened them in a new tab before saving them.

Better option would be to remove them all and test if it works. If it does put 50% of the card back in and retest. Repeat until it doesn't work anymore and remove 50% of the cards you recently added until it works again… I think people get the idea.

Why does HF run for such shit these days?

I thought the good old "saving in it from a new tab" technique was infallible, but it can also end up with a fucked up card. There is something fundamentally wrong with how Holla Forums deals with images. Just use the booru and call it a day.

You probably fucked the installation. Did you unpacked the Cds instead of installing properly with Japanese Locale activated on the windows language configuration? Because all the applocale are fucking shit and not worth the effort and unpacking is buggy as shit.
Most game download links come with the basic game, Studio package (over 200mb heavy) and two small DLC with clothes.
Always install using some sort of iso mounting program that isn't the standard iso mounting that comes with windows, something like Power ISO. And don't use two different drives to install, mount the first image on the first drive, start installation and when asked to mount the second cd on the same virtual drive.
The DLC and the studio can be unpacked into the game with no problem.

Alternatively, there could be something wrong with your Net framework, make sure to have all the x64 redistributables.

Make the face a bit wider with the overall setting, make the nose a bit wider, bring the browns more to the front with the depth thing and fix the hair color using a lighter second color. I'm not sure that's the right face type, the skin color is also off, you're looking for a White Jap/Korean skin, have some yellow/orange tint on the mix

Trying to create characters and while the game offers the option to change to color of specific clothes, it doesn't actually change the color. I don't like the color of a shirt but I like the form and I can't change it.

Not all clothes/accessories support custom colors.

Not all clothes have a color changing option. The color shit can be there while picking clothes but it might be actually the color picker for the skin or something. The ones that you can change the color of say so in brackets after the name in the list.

Follow the basic guideline here and you should do fine

Apparently, making the clothes color changeable isn't a hard mod to pull off, but it does take some work.

Also bear in mind that some cards might be okay and some might be corrupted, but if even one corrupted card is in the folder, no cards will load. You may have to check each new card individually, or alternatively remove each card individually. As you don't have to exit and re-enter the editor to make the character load update if you're removing a corrupted card, but you do have to re-enter the editor to add a new card, corrupted or otherwise.

You only need to convert cards from previous Illusion games, this cards should be drop on folder and play.

Default: Fairly meh-tier with "good" (much better than the previous ones) graphics, it also runs nicely.
With mods: You can create custom animations from scratch and the posing is on par with PPD. Very well worth it. Go to Hongfire for the latest version of the animation mod, really need tool if you have the autism to animate shit. It works with a keyframe system of sort, fairly standard stuff. I have never animated shit (know the basic stuff, but only from theory) and I'm having a hard time making anything that looks good enough to show it.

You're assuming the sites deletes all kind of seemingly non-used data on .png. You're also assuming that, because it worked 2 minutes after you posted it means nothing get compressed, when the real issue is that the images get compressed after a while.
