New Syrian civil war thread

Last one has turned into a clusterfuck of burgers arguing over whether liberals are socialists

Let's pick off where we left off

Are Baathists /ourguys/, Holla Forums?

smh fams

i for one despise baathists and the enormous number of idiots shilling for them

I like Kurds the most, but I'd take Assad over modertae beheaders from FSA any day.

Kurdish forces are literally doing a joint offensive with SAA at the moment m8. It's a matter of practicality. It would be great if the whole of Syria could be like Rojava. But outside Northern Syria, it's a choice of Assad or le moderates.

i kind of have actual syrian friends and the mightiest mass murderer there is assad. literally everybody agrees with this except his protégés.
he's shit tier tbh, even batth supporters disawow him mostly
i however understand that kurds need to use his support at this phase.

No.

Of course.

t. Spicy Saddaam memes

...

assad's headcount in 2015 was 12,000
beheaders scored 1,400

disprove this info

as OP of the last thread I came back to see it had like 100 replies and was excited to read all the great discussion on Syria

how wrong I was

anyway

Turkey, after suffering several airstrikes in Syria has started to work on a plan covering every option including retaliation

Turkey considering retaliation.

Is this "fascism=anti-imperialism when it isn't western" tankiesm or do people here actually like fascist bourgeois dictatorships?

That feel when I had a sunni syrian friend and he fucking hated Assad, but at the same time, he really liked our edgy conservatives(think of Ron Paul). Then Syrian civil war started, our edgelords started sucking off Assad and he got an existential crisis.

disappointed, but not surprised

i feel for you OP

my condolences

There's a difference between the tankie type of support for Assad, and the acknowledgement that Assad's a tyrant but at the same time preferable to a genocidal Shariah state. If there was credible opposition to Assad it'd be cool.

So, who do you degenerate commie faggots support? I'm genuinely curious, as most of the non-cucked right supports Assad and the Russians for a secular government free of Islamic extremists supported by corrupt western governments. I'd be surprised if we didn't have some common ground here.

Kurds get the most support, Assad get some of it as well because FSA is garbage

can you ask your question in less of a retarded way

That's cool but there's also significant portion of support for the regime.

Saying Assad is better than a Salafist theocracy doesn't mean I'm ignorant of Assad's shortcomings.

Not for you, as you are a totally intellectually devoid retard with a warning flag.

Your argument is redundant.

hmmm

...

I felt the need to be redundant

not an argument

I'm sorry, but I have to go now I'm celebrating Thanksgiving with my family.

i only have contacts from northern parts, mostly sunni, some people from damascus, they are the one saying assad should be let go and a new baath party should be organized.
but yes, genocidal tyrants always have a large following. especially when the opposition sunnis are so retarded.

Kurds are lackeys to America.
Ba'athists are anti-imperialists

It's called being pragmatic you anarkiddie kurdboo waste of semen.

...

How is Assad an imperialist?

More leftist than any of the West's leftists.

what abut it?
Most of the stuff is just a counter to amercian and zionist influences.
You have to be pragmatic too.
o please tell me more about these "oppresed" minorities. Also it's not like the kurds are any angels either

explain?

Kurds and Assyrians would stop being minorities if they just began speaking arabic as their official language but they wont because they are spooked ethno-nationalists that want to preserve their culture.

they are useful idiots that are going to be used as a proxy army by USA once USAs earlier proxy army is defeated.

*tips keffiyeh*

No, you provide sources or gtfo

t. Stalin

This was one of the reasons why the USSR and Yugoslavia failed. If the point is to create a cosmopolitan culture why preserve and promote different ethno-nationalities? This is nothing but idpol.
Just make Russian and Serbo-Croatian the official languages.

centering the identity of the country around one single ethnicity is idpol, too.

ah, no, you see

it's not identity politics when it's my identity

only others

Assad is the best option for Syria. There's no credible opposition to Assad what so ever,

Totally willing to make deals with Assad, i.e,. Aleppo. They're pragmatists. If the situation becomes desperate enough (which, it already is) Assad will probably hand them autonomy.

what do people here think of the peshmerga?

i know Holla Forums slobbers the YPG's cock severely and has a creepy infatuation with rojavan qts, but what about the iraqi kurds? are they as based as the syrian kurds?

PUK Peshmerga are cool with me, PDK is reactionary filth.

No it's about having one single language to foster unity and understanding between the people in order to create a cosmopolitan society.

By your logic we should all write here in our native languages because to write in english would be idpol or imperialism.

I'm not Russian, Serbian or Arab so that doesn't apply to me and I wouldn't have no problem if english became the official language of my small country.

The true is that it's linguistic minorities like that Kurds that choose to view themselves as outsiders instead of adopting the more popular regional language.

...

Also I am talking about language not ethnicity you fucking moron.

Not at all.

The one thing about the Assad regime I'm wondering about is if it'll stay in its current form after all threats to its existence are gone. There was a good detailed article about the internal structure of the regime that I read recently (too bad I forgot to bookmark it). Basically, it described how the loyalists military is mainly relying on what are pretty much private warlord armies loyal to the regime, but acting with some autonomy, and IRGC run foreing militas, while the SAA is in shambles and has no real offensive capabilities on its own anymore.

It'll be interesting to see if those warlords demand their own fiefdoms or major positions in the government after the war is over.

I was more referring to the original idea of syrian kurds and assyrians being spooked due to idpol, but the people running a country called Syrian Arab Republic aren't. Baathists are idpol to the max, so the kurdish and assyrian idpol is a reaction to that.

Atleast the SSNP tries to promote a syrian identity not connected to ethnicity. That's still spooky, but to a lesser degree.

I was a little harsh, of course the ethno-arabists are even more too blame, since they were the ones in power. They should have promoted staunch language assimilation and ethnic anti-discrimination.
The Kurds should have had their own state since the very start nonetheless.

Ba'athists are fascist scum

Smoldering oil fires on my way to Baghdad (30 km from Mosul). Maybe 3km on the side of the road completely covered with the smoke and soot still burning from when is passed through here

actually no
Assad implemented free-market policies in Syria.

But still. I still like Assad. He's better than hurka durkas.

Yes

It's called being pragmatic. Sometimes a relatively free market is a necessary evil
