Sly Cooper thread

Sly 5 when?

Most likely never because that movie is gonna bomb

Are they still working on it?

I think they release a trailer some months ago.

Actually no, I'm so far off new media shit that this was in 2014.

It's pretty weird how everything's getting a movie now.
Like did you know Jojo Chapter 4's getting a live action movie? Not hollywood, thankfully

I wonder if they'll cancel it after the Ratchet and Clank movie

...

Giant Carmelita best Carmelita

Are you trying to create a new generation of furries?

Its for the best

That actually wasn't the film itself, it was a proof of concept footage shown to producers.

Why they didn't choose 2D animation or even cell shading is beyond me, glad they want to cater to furfags, I'll wait for the official movie game.

That's what Zootopia was made for.

2D wouldn't sell and would have to be in DVD's

Because 2D sadly doesn't sell these days (Say what you will about Disney being shit nowadays, but with them abandoning 2D, others followed their suit) while the more lifeless and samey-feel 3D stuff does.

Lemme just

saved

I want to shove my face up his ass
No homo

good god that looks terrible. carmelita is hot

Wow, 2 years and still hardly any new information. Kind of depressing…

How? I like Infamous 1 and 2 + that Vampire DLC. Is Infamous Second Son really that bad?

That's not true. The reason everything is 3DGC now is because not only is it cheaper to make, employees to do it are much more disposable. You can hire some shitlord right out of school and pay him pennies. If he asks for more because he's getting fucked by studant loans and his wife just had a baby they'll fire him. Compare that to a competent animator. Not only are they few and far between, but because their skill is so valuable if they ask for a raise they'll have to get it because you need every animator you can get for such a time consuming project.

Second son was mediocre, it got rushed to meet the PS4 launch. It was supposed to be the killer app for the PS4, but at the time the PS3 was still going strong and nobody wanted a PS4, so it flopped. Same with all the other early PS4 exclusives, like that new Killzone. Bloodborne was the first exclusive that caught everyone's attention.

>>>/4am/

Never
I wanna fuck Carmelita S&M style

This. The PS4 has no games.

And it has the most sales, this is why i hate casuals, they care so little for games they would rather have a console with none of them.

Carmelita needs more art

I actually like the idea of Sly with a bigger ass.

>It gets even bigger

Not big in an inflation kind but big in a way where his ass could be used as a pillow and his legs are feminine, but maybe that's just me.

I like ass big enough to smother me so I can't breathe. That's the best size.

...

It's not a question of if Sucker Punch is good, it's the new guys. Sucker Punch has nothing to do with Sly anymore, and Thieves in Time was a new team.
If they make a Sly 5, it's gonna be shit yeah
I was pleasantly surprised at how not completely irredeemable Sly 4 was even though it fucking ruined the perfectly tidy and nice ending Sly 3 had, but I have zero faith in them not fucking up if they continue.

Sony and sonyggers only care about movies, not games with gameplay.

Thanks fam, I literally only opened the thread to see if there was any porn.

I'm actually really upset kevin miller isn't doing the voice, considering the other two VAs are the same. But it still looks fucking cringey

Really really enjoyed Sly 1 and 2, Sly 3 felt technically better mechanics-wise but it felt like busywork. Haven't played Sly 4 yet but since it wasn't made by Suckerpunch I'm not expecting good things.

Who doesn't

Bump

Thieves in time was excellent.

Let's make the thread a little less gay

Okay.

Can we talk about the games maybe? I am gonna say something controversial I like sly 1 the best

I'll give you that no one is actually discussing the games. I was never a sonygger except for the PS3, so I played the third one. I thought it was fun but find it odd they market it as a stealthy game when it's more of a platformer.

I've played through all the games, the should have left it rest at 3. 4's ending was too open to be anywhere close to an acceptable ending.

Sly 1 & 2 had platforming in it as well, but was more stealth focused.

Anyway, what's your favorite boss? Mine was either Dimitri or Jean Bison

LeFwee, but mainly his whole pirate section, where you have to curse at him and follow a treasure map.

Off the top of my head I would have to say Jean Bison. My favorite area though was Bloodbath bay

I personally liked 3 the best myself. 1 felt a little too rough and 2 was fun but I just didn't like it as much as I did 3.

I was kind of excited about a possible Sly 4, but to hear that the new game sort of sucks, as well as making a certain character a villain out of nowhere, I just lost interest and never played it.

The new movie looks irredeemably bad.

...

Anyone that likes 3 more than 1 & 2 needs to fucking kill themselves.
What a fucking mistake.

Literal timewasters for autists. Collectables are fucking garbage in literally every game they're in.

Collectables need to be a challenge to obtain. Either through diligently searching, or using abilities in a clever way to get somewhere that would normally be impossible. Just leaving them around is lazy

Go fuck your asshole with a rusty rake you faggot. In sly cooper 1 & 2 they weren't that difficult to find because they had clinking sound effects that help you find them.

You could put something more valuable there instead of random objects that unlock fuck all.

Doesn't change the fact that they're there just to tickle a bit of your autist brain faggot.

Thanks for proving you're a fucking idiot.

1 plays a lot like mgs1's "stealth" with platforming, whixh is what I believe the intent was

Are we gonna talk about how that pirate section is basically Asscreed black flag but without the shitty asscreed parts? as well as done ten years earlier?

Clues always unlock super broken shit that made the games crazy. Also, Polite sage for repeated posts

Embed is to trigger anons

Played the rereleased version for the ps3 and it wasn't as bad.
Crab minigame is worse.

You've also reminded me about my favorite boss in the series, Mz.Ruby. First boss I fought as a kid that really kicked my ass.

Did you know the devs originally intended the entire first level to be in a submarine?

Mz. Ruby is great. Catchy rythym game where you instantly lose if you mess up once.
Also, Chumley gets bodied

No.
Chumley had a hard life.

Second Son is good but very short. However, First Light, the standalone DLC, actually has a lot of content for what it is, a lot more than that Vampire one released after 2. Second Son and First Light were released as one game, I might say it was at least as good as 2. But they weren't, so it's not. Still good though.

Despite not being Sucker Punch, Sly 4 was still great. Fixed most of the problems with 3, and felt like a great sequel. However, it was far, far too easy. One of the only times I felt a game being too easy really hampered it for me. Still left me hopeful for 5 though, since presumably difficulty would be an easy thing to fix for the sequel.

Carmelita is overrated. Penelope is best waifu. Particularly the Sly 3 version. The Sly 4 one is meh.

That is a perfectly valid opinion. Open world has its advantages and disadvantages. The level design isn't as tight and well designed as Sly 1. Plus, things like the time trials and developer commentaries are great.

That's the point. To be a stealth platformer.

4 doesn't suck. It's mediocre at worst. And your complaint about the story is invalid, IMO. It wasn't out of nowhere. That character had practically no reason to become a good guy in the first place. Only joined the Cooper Gang to be part of the gang, not because of the morality of the job.

And the movie only has that short proof of concept trailer and literally nothing else. Certainly not enough to say it is irredeemable.

The lack of collectables took away much of the incentive to explore the levels. Not to mention the challenge. Made the game too easy. And the hunt was fun. Except for sometimes when the last one would be fucking hard as balls to find.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
That said, Sly is a great series and I still replay the trilogy at least once a year. Shame they're such a bitch to emulate. I really should get around to playing Sly 4. I fucking bought it on launch, after all

I tried replaying the series a few months ago, but my PS2 stopped reading my Sly 3 disc. Might just emulate it and play it that way

But goddamn did I forget how bad Carmelita's voice was in 3.

I actually thought her voice was the best in 3
I mean, she doesn't even sound latin in 2

I don't know if this is a good place to ask, but hey it's a Sly thread.

I never played any of the PS2 exclusive platformers, so which should I start with? I'm thinking Sly Cooper.

To fight or in general? To fight was General Tsao. In general is either Lefwee or the Panda King.

Sure, Sly Cooper probably has the most steady difficulty curve, over arching narrative, and is my fave. Then go R&C, and then Jak.

Can't go wrong with Sly, R&C, or Jak and Daxter.

Will start with Sly then. Thanks

You could try the Ape Escape and MediEvil series in case you haven't but ME and the first AE were on the PS1, with AE requiring a dualshock controller.

It's true. Just look up what happened to much of RWBY's original staff after Monty Oum died, they either got fucked or were forceed to quit. 3DCG is the way they do it because they can get any shit to play with a model's rig. You can't get a new guy to draw key frames without the movie's visual design changing.

They're each separate. My autism would still make me play them in overall release order (so Jak 1 first), but as long as you play each series in order you'll be fine.

And don't forget Ape Escape. It's the best one. Also the one that's really a platformer. Sly is the next most platform-y. And Jak 1 is one of the best 3D platformers ever, but the sequels are different. Ratchet is all around good but 3 becomes more of a shooter than a platformer, and has a gimped single player mode so they could spend time making tacked-on online instead. Then the fourth game is basically a spinoff shooter. But it's still good.

>Chumley gets bodied
What? I've never seen this expression before.

Is the last one drawn by someone from the original team? Like that RR porn?

...

Sly 1 had a ridiculous amount of bullshit levels.

...

...

I'm such a disgusting weeb but I find this so charming.

But why?

Damn.

The four Ratchet games are by far the best of them. Sly and Jak are great too, but not as universally likeable and a little more flawed.

Fighting Tsao in that one challenge where you had barely any health was great.

Goddamnit, I guess I have to actually dust off my PS2.

The art style is shit in this. What the fuck happened to Murray especially?

Sly 1 was actually my favorite too. I feel like having no health bar and rather a free hit or two at max is more encouraging for stealth.

Sly 2 and 3 aren't bad for what they are. 4 I felt strayed and started getting weird since Sanzaro picked up the IP. Also fuck QTE final bosses.

I felt 4 strayed less than the others, especially 3, because the other characters are all Sly with a twist, making them much more fun to play as than the more different characters in 3.

But yeah the final boss sucks.

Didn't they already?

...

Too bad she looked awful in that game.

JUST

god I hate her bad accent

Amazing journos didn't chimp out over it. Guess they were too busy kvetching over DMC.
