Now with the voice chats from this update, you can put the voice of your character instead of the normal Paladin's general guy. I just grew too fond of his voice however to change it this fast, but I must admit, Barik's Engineer from TF2 voice is really nice to hear while in a match.

Basically, what you want to do is place illusions where they can reach allies but are relatively hidden. They have a decent healing range. Spam your attack, preferably behind a shield, use shatter when you're caught/in trouble. Yeah, not too sure about it, I think that they go towards the closest enemy anything, including enemies, Kinessa mines and Bombs, and adjust on the fly which is why they'd suddenly change direction. That being said I've seen them not change direction. I think it's just a bit buggy at the moment.

2 illusions max, but they don't last forever, get Carry On and you never have to worry about it. It's incredible for healing, means you're always on top of the CD.

aside from the obvious benefits of movement speed on a shotgun character, it allows him to dance between his deployable shields when they dive in after you to give your enemy a huge headache.

Unlike Battleborn, Paladins still has retained it's playerbase after 1 and 1/2 weeks after launch.

It's not just from a new and innovative point, it's from a game stand point, I a few problems with the single player aspect, but I only felt compelled to try out a few levels once again and pretty much drop it, yet here I am years later still playing the the older game. It managed to be better than Doom 3 but that's about all I'll really give it credit for.

The other part that I dislike the most is the fact of how multiplayer was done and I find it funny that you ignored that point along with the legomap as well, things that also made Doom take off as well as it did both singleplayer and multiplayer as well.

How is a game going to be so great if I continue to play the originals more than the sequel that it's supposed to be? This is why I feel as if the mod D4D did a great job at mixing the best of two worlds.

Everytime someone says "fix Fernando", what they mean is "make him a Damage Flank character so I can kill people alone with him too!" and that's not what the character is about.

If you know that the flank is ALWAYS looking for you, you WILL win no matter what. Stick to a corner, instead of doing your sniper job aim to the only door that he should be coming towards you, two charged shots and the flank is dead or one charged shot with a few normal shots.

Fernando Ult is great, the problem is that noone uses it properly my man. However, I do agree that Grover is better, the difference being that if you get Cauterize 3 Grover's ult is not going to do jack shit meanwhile Fernando's ult has NO COUNTER.

Bomb King can fuck off with Poppy bomb.
Viktor will try to run away with his sprint.
Cassie will push you and dodge roll away.
Kinessa can teleport away and slow you down.

See the thing here? Kinessa has even more tools than most of the damage dealers to take care of flankers. It's ok not knowing how to use one character, but another thing is to shit on it just because you suck at it or because everyone around you suck dick as well

Barric can put a barrier that lasts longer with a much lower cooldown and impacts allmost the same.

The only thing Fernando's Ulti does is make him a stationary target at which everyone will fire because when he finnaly hits 1500, his Ult has ended and now they finish him off.
The only thing it does is contest a point for a few seconds and only retards try to engage him at that point if he has a team nearby, otherwise they will engage him to get him down to 1500, something his Ult doesn't protect.

Casual becomes vs people after level 5. They really should mention it in the client because everyone gets tricked by it. People have reviewed the game calling it 2ez because of playing bots. In one more game from this stat screen you will be facing actual people. Competitive has a barrier of having 12 champions each at least 4 mastery. Its fair since you actually have to understand a bit of the game. A little barrier is better then none. Also only solo Q no premades allowed.

These type of games shine in full team 5v5 anyway, if you're interested in that just find a team and start scrimming.

The funny thing about those first 5 levels is comparing yourself to your teammates and see people legitimally struggling against the bots. All my matches during those levels I always had on average 5X everything everyone else had.

I never used that trick with Blink while in Ice Block and I played consistently well with her.

It's very possible to enjoy something that isn't very good.

I enjoyed playing the game, but it's definitely not very good. The best example of that is a characteristic of the genre, which is the very limited number of abilities. It's like this genre reaches for a middle ground between the classic arena shooter that is focused on the players first-person gameplay, and a skill-based system found in games such as Guild Wars. Team composition becomes more important than individual player skill, differing it from older shooters. Yet this composition is not as important as it would be in GW PvP and the like.

What would be nice to see is a game that instead of half-assing both elements manages to go entirely all of the way with both of them. Just picture a game that took the basic gameplay of Unreal Tournament, for instance, where you could swap weapons on the fly, but that also gave players the option to select as many as eight skills from a massive pool to make use of in combat.

The game would be an unbalanced mess probably even after leaving beta, but it would be amazingly fun. The learning curve would be steep, though, which is what makes it unfeasible. The average person wants a game that spoonfeeds them and is easy to get into. This genre touches slightly upon both aspects, and as a result, is interesting to play, but with a much lower learning curve.

Incompatible ideas, sorry.

The team-composition dependency in this genre is considered one of it's strengths by it's fans, it's a gameplay aspect you gotta keep in mind just as much as aiming.

But the fans of pure individual skill will never accept that, as it takes away from them.
You could add as many abilities and weapons as you want, if you still need to cooperate with your team in order to win, if the way they play affects you during the game in any meaningfull way at all, it will be rejected by the other players.

The closest we have ever reached something similarly was quite possibly the linkgun in Unreal Tournament. I'm sure there have been other examples before but this is the one I'm remenbering now.
You could fire your gun at a teammate and increasing the damage he did, therefore cooperating with him to take down an adversary.

However, what if your partner's aim sucks or is worse than yours? Then your entire contribution is being wasted.
You could be the one firing at the enemy, but then you'd be trusting your companion to boost you and he might miss you too.
Ultimately, it's far more simple and preferable to grab rockets and fire that instead, as there isn't even friendly fire.

I still think this kind of genre has a lot of potential to grow, and customization of characters like you say would be a very good step. (although Loadout already tried something similar…)
But ultimately, despite being FPS as well, they play in a very different way than regular arena shooters and we've maybe reached the same point RTS got to when RTT actually became it's own genre.

I'm not saying that the team-composition part is bad, though. I'm saying the games tend to be simplistic with it. This game has a left mouse, right mouse, two keys, and ultimate. You can pick it up in a single round with a character. You won't necessarily be good, but you can at least participate.

Compare that to Guild Wars. If you dive right into PvP without the campaign, or lots of tutorial crap, you will have no idea what you're doing. The game has hundreds of skills, more than any one person will probably ever recognize. Every character will have an elite skill they select, and you may be able to pin their tactics based on the builds that use that skill. There are lots of different roles - minion masters, healing support, protective support, skill interruption, tanking, damage spiking, area nuking, trap setting, scouting, area defensive, the list just goes on. There are also lots of game modes that require different tactics. I want to say there were some battles that would be four teams of four against another four teams of four, plus NPC support for both teams. Strategy, naturally, is very important in these types of battles. Team synergy doubly so.

In comparison, this genre is lacking in that.

I just want to see a game that takes the idea of this genre - playing as a hero - to its logical conclusion by combining it with the create-your-own-hero style of an RPG. As it stands, the games half-ass it. They're not arena shooters, so they shouldn't try to be. They should go all the way with making it tactical. Basically, just give us a first person Guild Wars.

Guild Wars worked maybe because the PvP was built on top of a MMO (that wasn't a very traditional MMO anyway) and had that base to support it. It was a pretty nice game, only detail I remenber was how the Hunter class was so popular because of Troll Elixir for health regen, and I had a friend that was big in the PvP scene that told me many stories about how complex the game was.

Perhaps in the future, some company will try to go that route (and competition between Blizzard\Hi Rez\whoever comes next is sure to speed it up) but for the time being, they give you pre-packaged heroes that are easier to understand, both their gameplay and their character. It's a new genre, let's hope it "grows up" properly.

Check what happens when you select it. The game is full of visual bugs, at least for me. The character select screen will often display characters like Pip and Cassie as locked.

One thing that you need to realize about Hi-Rez is that they are like Cartoon Network in a way that it doesn't matter how good their game may be (simbionic titan) unless they find a way to make money out of it, seeing how all their games are f2p, the game gets shelved and another one, more profitable takes it's place.
Tribes "failed" because they couldn't find a way to monetize it properly, which led to horrifically overpowered weapons that broke the game that you could either grind for two months or buy with real money, unlike Paladins or Smite with their cosmetic shit, they couldn't do that with Tribes so they killed the game.

Finally got a game of the "new" Evie, as someone who hated using the ice block since it just makes you predictable I think its a graceful change. If you play her like a TF2 solider with similar mobility with little HP you should have success. Hit your directs, dive in and kill them if you know you won't get 100-0'd. Make sure you don't miss your shots and you will find success, its not that difficult but if you miss once you'll die. But you have ways to survive with Blink and Soar. The game has a ton of vertical space that can be utilized, quite a few times I've flown into windows of buildings where damage were shooting out of to just get a free kill then add more damage to objective from that position.

The best part about her ice block is the oh shit button and using it for setting up baits. Due to the nerf of no longer able to blink while inside ice block, you get enemies just waiting around the block like dipshits only to get ganked by your team/full ult/blink and soar away.

Servers are weird, before last patch when it was mixed regions I was 130 ping average but now I'm at 60 avg.

A lot of Evie players would rely heavily on the ice block to a point that you can't really get fooled by it that much. Evie is better off doing constant damage instead of waiting to set up cute plays. I think the issue with it was that people were basing her entire play style off the block/blink, which sides tracks the fun of the character which is moving around. Ice block is now pure defensive instead of both. As players start getting really used to the maps and zooming around you'll see more unique plays I think.

I'm likely full of shit but people keep complaining online about how it ruined the character. Blink in, kill people with damage bonus, Soar out. Don't miss. play her like a roaming solider in tf2.

i do agree that it ruined the ability, im not sure if it "ruined" evie. but i do think it set her behind coldsteel where before i would have considered them about even, not including their ults where i think evies is mediocre

This was probably why it was fixed. Way too easy to just blink at the last moment of Ice Block, marking lots of people that had no way to predict or see it coming to counterplay it.
You could then unload 1 or 2 bolts on someone and Soar out, negating any risk you ever had to offset the payoff.

Just compare that with Skyie that also has to go close to people but has to use her stealth and map knowledge for that, because the moment anyone looks at her, she's dead and if they know she's coming, that's a free kill for the other team.
Eevie completely bypassed the need of a carefull aproach and still had an escape mechanism.

Just tried my first time as mirror slut, went full healer, hugged my mexican paladin all throughout the match and neither me or him died, we pushed the cart successfully twice and won without breaking a sweat, teams would be much more efficient if everyone played ahegao healer like this.

Smite has a deserter penalty of 30 minutes when you do it, and ramps up from there as well.
Dunno if Paladins already has something similar to it, but it probably should. 30 minutes might be excessive as a match doesn't last as long as in Smite.
