FAQ
Dragon's Dogma is an action RPG made by Crapcom with super fun combat, comfy fantasy aesthetics, very good character customization, and [TECHNOLOGY]

You can either pirate it or buy it on GMG (gives you a $team key). You will not be able to share pawns (AI dudes that you create) with people online if you pirate it, and note that GMG purchases don't give any money to Valve

1. Do not play on hard mode, it was added as a way to make NG+ appropriately challenging and it will actually make the base game easier but more frustrating since you will be 1-shotted a lot but will get many instaheals from leveling up twice as fast and can buy super fancy weapons with the bloated gold drops.
2. Make sure your pawn doesn't have the guardian, nexus, or acquisitor inclinations. Guardian makes them stick to you 24/7 no matter what and barely do anything, nexus makes them drop whatever they're doing to carry other pawns to you, and acquisitor makes them into a greedy hook-nosed grabbler that will go look for items on the ground in the middle of combat
3. Don't go to Bitterblack Isle until you have beaten the game, and if you just killed the Dragon then you haven't beaten it yet so keep going.
4. Those shitty notice board quests like "kill 10 goblins" are not something you should focus on, you'll be killing plenty of mooks anyways on the actual quests so just accept them and play as you normally would
5. Explore, you don't have to focus on quests to play the game effectively. Running around the overworld killing mooks and finding shit can level up your vocations much faster than quests and you will find some helpful gear (if you do this in the early game at least). The overworld is full of shit like "that cave behind the waterfall with a treasure chest in it" and after hundreds of hours I still occasionally find new things.
6. If you make a loli pawn prepare to be bullied (especially if she's a mage)

What's a recommended class to play? Only played warrior and got pretty repetitive

Is anyone else autistic enough like me to always give the best gear to their pawns and wear mid tier or shit tier gear yourself? Pic related.

Also I'm pretty sure the shota Sorcerer pawn in the background is using a save editor since its damage output and magick defense is miraculous to say the least.

Assassin gives you a lot of variety, and if you want even more get the dinput8 mod linked in the OP to sortof make your own class (mix and match weapons/skills/armor between classes)

Absolutely, I think of it like fashion irl. If I wanted to wear what was best for me I'd just wear the comfiest clothes I have or ones with lots of utility like cargo shorts, but I care about what other people think more so I don't wear pajamas and cargo shorts everywhere.

Meme Archer is great for cramped up spaces and enemies who can debuff your party like BBI, and can be either main DPS or support role.

Meme Knight is great because it has no inherent weakness, can element-buff the entire party at once, and can kill just about anything without needing pawns.

Does anyone have a download link?

The internet.

Yep, it helps to get your pawn rented. In a mix between two pawns with roughly same skills, vocations, etc, the gear will win out most of the time.

i dont want dolphin porn

Oh how ironic.

Ah, that was a great time wasn't it

I had it before when the guy first came here with the review copy but i factory reset my computer and i want to make my pawn waifu again

Jesus fucking Christ, are you so fucking lost on the internet?

yes

3deep5me

Japanese Skyrim

Niko Bellic Arisen. Couldn't be bothered making animu ones because the character editor favors a 3DPD style instead of 2D, which is why the loli pawns look ridiculous. Shit taste and all that, I know.

I've been thinking recently about how much I want a sequel to this game that implements its base mechanics intelligently and the team gets the time and space to flesh out the unique ideas. This game is one of those frustrating titles where you can see all the potential but it's hampered by not-quite-right implementation. How to make a theoretical Dragons Dogma 2 into the best thing it could be:

Pretty much everything you said, but my perfect Dragon's Dogma would be one released with mod tools so users could make their own worlds and populate them however they wanted. Or make that an aspect of the game, and invite other players to play through it.

And, obviously, multiplayer. Not MMO-style, but just 2-4 people, Monster Hunter style. Invite a person into your world, they bring their pawn, you have two Arisen and two Pawns. Invite another, you keep your Pawn but the other two don't get theirs, three Arisen and one Pawn. Invite one more, your Pawn drops, now you have four Arisen.

Are pure reds shit or is it just me? I was thinking of replaying as a Warrior, but I also remember disliking Warrior the first time through.

1) Actually completing the game and convincing Capcom to let a creative guy finish his own passion project, since he's proven both that he's capable and that people like his vision. Yet another of my favorite games where I will never go to the moon.

2) Enemy AI for the most part is alright, but it's obvious that they reused default pawn AI for bandits and possessed pawns which is why they behave so bizarrely. Tons of problems with pathfinding (garms running into walls) and clipping on BBI that need to be polished.

3) Pawn AI needs to be revisited, or at least they need to tweak it so that a pawn doesn't mimic your techniques unless they're in the same class, I don't need my mage climbing enemies or fighting in close quarters.

4) Needs a severe overhaul with quest variety, since if you just listed all of the quests in the game I'm sure 90% of them would be "go kill X amount of Y".

5) Synchronous multiplayer so the combat system can really shine

Why do you guys torture yourselves with these threads?
You know Capcom has already forgotten about this game and will never resuscitate it or otherwise do fuckall with the brand again.
Let it go.

I heard that this game (PC version is apparently better) is quite boring as it requires you to walk for hours through empty lands.
But I've seen videos and apparently the magic is great.

You can carry around fast travel markers called portcrystals and place them pretty well anywhere that you want, so you only have to walk to a location once as long as you've prepared. The map is not big enough to have to walk for "hours" and the map isn't really empty.

Yeah the magic is great

Maybe it's because I enjoy the game, in fact here try it out. This one isn't the online compatible one but it's good enough to get your feet wet.
mega.nz/#F!14IyRJbQ!VXdz0lcPUUc_IgtxMpMT9A

For casters there is an alternative to Launchboard, you can use Frigor or the third ice spire of High Frigor as a stepping stone, but you need to make sure there is no obstruction (as in no pawn or enemy) on the spot you want. This is one of the only areas where the DD Wikiautists are actually good, they are so autistic they try everything possible in the game and after 4 years of playing the game today was the first time I managed to consistently use the ice blocks to play Super Arisen Bros.

The same thing can be said about a lot of games especially those that encourage autistic completionism. The only reason why I keep playing this shit is because it's comfy as fuck and there are actually still quite a lot of active players remaining. Unlike most of those veteran battered wives I only made a grand total of 2 characters, 1 on PS3 and my current one on PC, and yet I still am not at 100% completion of bestiary & travel knowledge after 260 hours on PC alone. The top autist on reddit actually spent a total of 700 hours on the PC version.

Pure reds make decent pawns actually, since there really isn't much you can do with them other than tanking and/or harassing certain types of enemies that the retarded AI is actually good at that job. Plus the top tier weapons make their damage output serviceable no matter what they decide to do. For pure DPS Striders and Rangers are great, but yellow pawns do not maximize usage of blast arrows so Strider pawns are slightly better since they have Helm Splitter. Mages are useless late game while Sorcerers are an absolute must have in any team. But yeah the yellow classes and the Sorcerer class become more effective when player controlled, although I prefer to play the hybrids since they are only available to the player anyway.

I wish mages were more useful, but all they have going for them is healing spells, and those are only useful for escort quests.

dead

I've put in about 200hr over the past two or three months, I'm a little burned out on the game. Still considering a replay since I can't find anything good to play.

The few times I've tried a pure red pawn they've gotten their shit pushed in constantly by enemies, maybe I just need to be playing as a red also to train them. Last playthrough my Ranger pawn was very useful in combat, since I was playing as a Ranger also.

Why live?

This game any good offline? I just pirated it

All multiplayer is asynchronous so all you're missing out on is the pawn trading system, meaning you'll have to use the braindead-retarded computer-generated pawns. There should be a crack to play a pirated version online,

So I can't choose what my party looks like? How does it affect gameplay?

You CAN to some degree, there's randomly generated computer pawns, just don't expect anything too pretty or too efficient

It doesn't, at all. I mean, you are also losing Online Ur-Dragon and it's loot, but offline is still there.

I disagree, percentage based armor is cancer because it results in any decision making regarding how much armor/health you want. If it is always proportional, then there is no reason to have any amount of armor other than what is most efficient with your health value, rather than the efficiency of armor being based on what kind of weapon is attacking it. This is because if it is a threshold system then armor will be more effective against light attacks and less effective against heavy, so a warrior and a strider that do the same DPS they still have different uses since the warrior will be more effective against high armor enemies and the strider will be better against low armor enemies.

The real solution is to remove the multiplicative damage/armor bonuses from shit like periapts, remove the attribute gain on level up (if you don't get to choose the attributes then why do they exist?). If the weapons are equally balanced like DaS, the only thing preventing the rest of the game from being tightly balanced are the stats which don't really benefit the game as they are. Getting +20 health every time you level up doesn't improve the gameplay or RPG mechanics, it just fucks with the balance and counter intuitively makes the game easier as you become more skilled at it. The only progression I need in an action RPG like this is the progression of my skill, and with a sequel Crapcom would have the opportunity to make that more of a factor (I mean these are the fuckers that made DMC4). Anything else should just be about specializing my build and unlocking more skills to play with.

Totally agree about the rest of those though. As it is now, DD is 4th favorite game of all time but I'd gladly kick DaS1 down to #2 if they implemented half this shit or even just finished the game.

okay

They'll just be a bit worse than good online pawns since they'll have shit inclinations and mediocre gear.

No, you can, you just can't hire other players' pawns.

The party is comprised of you, your pawn, and two hired pawns if you choose to go out and hire them. You either encounter them out in the world or you go into a pocket dimension called the Rift where you can browse pawns by class, ability, gender, all sorts of things. The only difference between online and offline is that, when you're online, you're browsing through pawns created and trained by other players, and when you're offline they're just randomly generated by the computer. Since pawn AI is dynamic (meaning it learns fighting techniques and enemy weaknesses by watching you play), the computer-generated ones are a lot dumber, since they haven't had the advantage of learning from a real human player.

It's not going to prevent you from completing the game or anything.

The game is not at all crippled while offline and I actually prefer offline for NG+ runs.

The way the game works is you make your character and one custom AI controlled pawn, but you can temporarily hire up to two additional pawns. If you're playing online the game downloads other people's pawns for you to hire, if you're playing offline you get pawns generated by the computer.

dinput8 doesn't allow you to make new items or enemies or monster rape mods.

No but it lets you mod quite a few gameplay related things which is certainly better than just texture swaps.

I do agree that the game would benefit massively from real mod support though, what a shame.

I though about it quite a bit.

Both have one similar trait in their combat systems. It is spam until enemies die.
There is no challenge to them like in Dark Souls. They were made to be rather casual, you can make mistakes and you are not punished badly for them.
However it would be not be fair to say they are same. Dragon Dogma gives you much more tools on your disposal, effectively making rather boring Skyrim combat system fun.
Dragon Dogma also have better big bosses. Skyrim have quite nice looking enemies but in terms of boss fights there is one.

World and quests are day and night.
I don't mean the map size. Skyrim was made as a checklist. You could finish all the content in one play through. Dragon Dogma is more Witcher 2 style of game. It doesn't takes you to new map on every act but it is divided. You can by accident skip a quest and be able to finish it only in NG+.

Character development differences are pretty same as world ones. Dragon Dogma limits you while Skyrim allows to grind until you have everything.
In Skyrim you will eventually get all skills on 100. In Dragon Dogma you have 200 levels you spend on skills by playing certain classes. Point is one is unlimited progression, while in second you have limited resources.

Story in both is shit.
One have deep lore and pretends it doesn't. Second pretends to have deep lore but in reality is cliche as fuck and not that complicated. I would say not deep DD wins because it managed to make me feel like hero of the realm.

Conclusion:
Dragon Dogma is closer to typical RPG. Skyrim is closer to checklist. Both need to hire actual writers and generally are from casual side.

Well that would be it, I needed a break from EDF because I am finishing bullshit mission.

Good lord

Let enemy hit you in Dark Souls and DD. See what happens.

Only acts.

I it is not Tolkien my friend.

In both instances it's likely to take a good chunk out of your health bar, and in DD you don't have the advantage of turtling behind a 100% damage reducing shield, or the crutch of being provided with at least 5 if not 20 healing potions at every checkpoint.

Tolkien is now a measurement of "deep" lore? Elder Scrolls is a measurement of deep lore?

Played DD, they never did when I played warrior.
Also it is silly to mention you can hide behind shield in Dark Souls when you can hide behind 3 people in DD.
It is not like DD have potions, it even have items which resurrect you.

No. It is a thing called example. It was example of deep lore. Something that is quite compliance and not obvious is deep lore for me.
Elders Scrolls actually would be example of deep lore, definitely not Skyrim though.

Not past Grigori, clearly.

Hiding behind a shield in Dark Souls will nullify almost any physical attack in the game, and shields are so low-requirement that they can be equipped on any build, while only two builds in DD get shields. On that note, every build in DaS also gets a dodge roll, while only the yellows get dodge rolls in DD. "Hiding" behind your three pawns first would require the pawns to be in position to stand between you and the enemies, which is unfeasible for a number of reasons (the largest of which being the prevalence of large mob encounters), and they don't tank the damage. If there's an attack that will both you and your pawn, it will hit both you and your pawn, you can't "hide behind them". Go fight a Living Armor, which can wipe out your entire party with one swing (even up to Lv. 100), and "spam until enemies die", see how that works out.

That's what I said, but I get that you're not a native English speaker and it might be difficult to understand.

I'm going to have to agree here, pre-Grigori everything just tickles you. Plus like he said, you can't really hide behind pawns, sure you have them but I'm guessing you haven't tried Sorcerer because everything just seems to target you first and your pawns don't really do much in the way of distracting things.

Even prior to Grigori there are some regular enemies that can take most of your healthbar out in one hit, especially at the lower levels. The damage scaling in hard mode will let fucking bats do the same. Remember the pack of bandits on the way to the Witchwood, or the ones near the abandoned fortress?

Well sorry mate.

Living armor was actually one boss I ran to my healer actually I have to admit this. It was a boss fight why I called hiding behind you pawns.
First time I fought him I was just running around and picking up my pawns who died. I barely attacked him.

However I don't like the fact it is not going anywhere.
What is your point? That Dragon Dogma is not casual game?

Nigger, that's Justin Timberlake.

It is not a boss fight, it's just a regular enemy.

The idea that you're putting it forth as a casual game and holding up Dark Souls as challenging is somewhere between baffling and laughable. I'm not saying its as hard as S-ranking DMC3 on DMD, but it's a hell of a lot harder than other games in the same genre, including Souls.

That achievement does not prove that you played the full game, by the way.

The ones on the way to Witchwood only really hurt if you're under 30 but I am now recalling the pack of rangers near the North that spam flurries and cloudbursts.

Oh the ones in the canyon on the way to Bluemoon? Fuck those guys.

You're playing on easy, most of the diehard fans ITT play it on hard.

Nah the ones on the cliff under the camp in Northface Forest just before the entrance to that canyon leading to Bluemoon.

So you just want to shit on people on the internet.
You have no point you just want to shit on me because my opinion is bad.

Well fuck it this game is Japanese Skyrim or at least have similar base of fanboys who will shit on you for mentioning something wrong with their game.

Childish.

If you want to post an achievement as some kind of support for your claims, showing that you beat Daimon's awakened form, or his first form, or reached Lv. 100, or beat the game on hard mode, are all better evidence that you've played enough of the game to judge its difficulty. Otherwise, you're the one who came to the thread to take a shit on it.

Dude I am playing EDF right now. Calling game casual is not saying it is bad.
Only thing I took shit on was Skyrim.

You're clearly playing it on the easy difficulty.

Yeah I'd go as far as to say if the stat growth stuff was removed and stats were just flattened out it'd be better than with the existing character stats system, but I didn't want to over-reach in my suggestions. I kind of doubt that a sequel would excise the leveling / stat system altogether.

It's not that you're calling the game casual, it's that you're calling it casual for dubious reasons, dubious enough to make multiple people doubt if you've played the game in full.

Can't say I remember those ones in particular, but any yellow-class bandit is a real problem. Until you learn Maelstrom, anyway.

Pretty sure the director said he wanted to mesh Elder Scrolls and DMC. But to call it Japanese Skyrim is misleading because Skryim forsook traditional RPG elements for more player freedom resulting in a bland play, it also handles terribly. DD addresses both of these by handling well and returning to D&D class structuring and RPG stat progression. What you're doing in your original argument is extremely reductionist, and you state that Dark Souls avoids this when Dark Souls is an even worse offender in "spam enemies until they die"
The other thing is that Skyrim poorly characterizes all of their monsters and their only animations consist of combat or movement while DD took the time to characterize their monsters. Goblins have their little battlecries and fall over, Cyclopes will hop around and layabout, Ogres do that ridiculous jig and will snatch up female characters and run away. Hell look at the poster monsters of both games, Skyrim has Wyverns that do much other than fly around screeching and occasionally snapping at you sounding like a fucking turtle. Both games feature variants but Skyrim's don't provide the same feeling because it handles poorly. Look at the final bosses of both stories, Alduin's fight is bland as fuck and takes place in an incredibly cheap feeling Valhalla. Go to DD and you're running across crumbling castles while Grigori goads you culminating in an aerial grapple into an arena with extremely thematically fitting music.
Another thing is that the engines differ so much in function such that DD is more focused on combat and exploring a hand crafted world while Skyrim is focused on exploring a world and meeting various characters via the Radiant AI which had better implementation in Oblivion.
Again, to call it "Japanese Skyrim" is extremely misleading and does suggest you haven't really played DD since they really don't have that much in common aside from exploring the world. I skipped the lore on purpose

I think the quote you're thinking of is

and he did list The Elder Scrolls as one of the inspirations, as well as Fable and I think Gothic. As far as someone who understands how action works, Itsuno's definitely the man for the job, his resume iss impressive: Capcom vs. SNK, Rival Schools, Power Stone, plus DMC3 and 4. Not to mention they had the legacy crew of Capcom working on it, who have a history of making solid action games.

And try dodging those enemies in each game, which one gives you a dodge/parry with incredibly gratuitous invincibility frames?

Well skipping discussing about Dark Souls I can say what I consider to be casual game.

It doesn't forces difficulty or challenge on you.

Most RPGs fail to do that because of grinding. Either trough level and healing items. Dragon Dogma is example of this it not only have healing items without animations it also has wakestones.
Fact this game has multiple difficulty levels doesn't make it casual but contributes to it in my opinion.

Combat itself might be challenging but there are mechanics which allows you to avoid this difficulty.

I was mixed with dirt and I cannot feel anything besides happiness.
Someone actually answered me with actual arguments.

Thank you user. I learned something today.

Ok I admit I fucked up by bringing Dark Souls as challenging or rather hardcore game.

Yeah that's it.

Again, you haven't played enough of the game to even make this qualification. How much grinding is it going to take to reach a level where you can take eleven Eliminators head on? How much farming does it take to get all of that endgame gear? How many wakestones do you need to keep on your person to get through Bitterblack? Do you like keeping your weight load at Very Heavy so that you have enough high-level healing potions on you? How much light attack spam does it take to kill a condemned gorecyclops?

I thought it was "spam until enemies die. There is no challenge to them"?

No, I'm glad you did, more people might have taken you seriously if you hadn't.

...

And thank god too, if DD2 happened, it would probably be multiplayer.

and that wouldn't be a bad thing at all if it was optional, I mean the game is already obviously balanced for it already because of pawns. Multiplayer fucks up something like DaS or DeS because the combat is best 1v1, but that certainly isn't the case.

Historically, multiplayer has never improved a game that was originally singleplayer. It does damage comparable to making a console port for a PC game.

Wasn't it planned to have multiplayer at one point? In the Endless Tower?

not true because pawns are retarded

Thank god scrapped predev plans aren't reflected in the final product, in this case. Dodged a bullet.

Depends on the pawn, I have no issues with my fighter and strider pawns yet the game is balanced just fine. Sorcerers and mages are 100% retarded though.

Where's the harm? You already have party members, in this case you would just have more intelligent party members. The worst knock-on effect is that pawns can't have hybrid classes, so you could hypothetically have four MK's or MA's fighting together.

I mostly wanted to compare it to Skyrim where it literally is spam until it dies.
My point was Dragon Dogma is doing much better by giving you tools like skills and ability to climb on bosses, instead of just light and heavy attack.

I am reinstalling this game right now. Fuck it lets get to this 200 lv and see for myself, I feel like playing Asssasin. Warrior annoyed me way too much with no range and Mystic Knight annoyed my by putting shield on his back.

I got a mod that modelswaps every magic shield with an invisible item to solve that problem (and it lets me get around the animation bug with the dinput8 mod where if you use a warrior weapon your left hand weapon won't have the correct animations, and I like to have a left hand weapon because warrior is too boring with just one weapon and 3 skills)

It is good to hear I am not only one paranoid about shields.

200 might take a while, but at least make it through Bitterblack, it makes up at least a third if not half of the game's content.

Assassin's a good jack-of-all-trades, has some sweet counter moves too.

A fighter is slightly better than warrior because it can serve as an actual tank, it will try a perfect block or at least stay still and receive enemy blows if it fails (which means the enemy is still preoccupied with it) and can stagger strong enemies with shield bash, plus has better iframe moves. Warriors have better ability to stagger enemies and burst damage though, but no damage evasion moves other than limited iframes and jumping around like a retard.

A Living Armor can still oneshot (or at least one-combo) a level 200 character to hell, especially with fashion instead of stat gear. Just noticed that the Bastion and Awareness augments actually increase your defense by different amounts according to difficulty too, it's actually more than doubled in hard mode and the not-Skull Knight's full moon slash still rapes your ass.

Enemy AI always target meme magicians first, archers second and deliberately ignore tanks until it is virtually impossible to not fight said tanks, which is, oh, the same general strategy players use. The most dangerous enemies are actually the ones that use magick, contrary to what the game says - it always implies the strongest to be the ones who have the most HP and biggest asses in the room.

On second thought you are right. BRB killing myself

I know I have gotten to Daimon, that said I never got myself to kill him.
If you wanted to know how much of a game I played, two things I haven't done were Ur-dragon and Daimon.

He is not jack of one trade. He looks like a Ninja, I hate Ninjas.

Daimon's first form is the half-way point on Bitterblack, not the ending.

Ah but a Lv. 200 MA can oneshot him too, with a Ninefold Bolt. Lv. 200 MK can also one-combo them with Abyssal Anguish.

The offline Ur Dragon is a good way to grind for exp and shekels, but BBI Cursed Dragons are easier and can DF your shit way faster. I don't bother with online yet since the drops aren't as good as BBI stuff.

How? I have more than 3700 strength with Virge of Madness and the best I could do with Abyssal Anguish + Blessed Trance is take off 1.5 or 2 health bars in a single core combo. Are you talking about cannon sigil traps + perfect blocking his rapesword?

Same thing you're doing, except it was 1.5 or 2 health bars per strike. Maybe this was back on Normal difficulty.

Then don't wear the ninja-looking armor, and you can even get the dinput8 mod in the OP and wear whatever the fuck you want.

bump

Is it possible to dig into the game files to see which location and enemy tactic flags that you haven't unlocked with a pawn? Reason I'm asking is because I've been seeing a few pawns with very low playing hours (under 50 hours) in their rent profile who have maxxed out bestiary and travel knowledge, and are at level 200 to boot.

Try the dinput8 mod in the OP or a cheat engine table. It is also possible that they learned all of that from being hired, and not from the player that made them (only the most popular pawns would probably see this).

How active is the game on Steam at the moment? I used to play a shitload on PS3 but I wanna try it out on PC.

Also do save editors and mods lock you out of online in any way? And on that topic, are there any mods that drastically alter the game?

Fuck I wanna fly into free again but I know its gonna suck me in.

I think for the last month there has always been at least 600-1000 active players at any time, and those numbers were on workdays. The Steam forum for the game is half dead but the biggest autists still drop in since there's a surge of new players after the last Steam sale, and there are a still a lot of longtime players hunting the Ur-Dragon.

Save editors and mods technically do not lock you out of online, I have seen a few obviously hacked pawns myself as in they have impossible stats and gear, I've also heard of these pawns getting banned from time to time although it is easy enough to make another one. Steam family sharing can only be used for up to 5 accounts though.

The most drastic mod I can think of off the top of my head is the Legendary mod which triples all non-mandatory monster spawns including Death.

Not sure if that kind of functionality is covered by the dinput8 mod from the discussions that I have seen on Nexus, but thanks, I'll check it out.

Dragons Dogma Dark Arisen was astonishingly bad. I don't know why I gave a Capcom game a chance.

It is still the best out of Capcom's recent (since 2012) shit pile though, which speaks volumes about their current state.

dead

bumb :DDD

>nexusmods.com/dragonsdogma/mods/4/?
Ok I put this in my game, I've only got 1 issue with it: it requires HDR to be on and blinding me again. Is there a way around it?
Also i can't seem to take screen shots anymore with just this and the screenshot mod installed. Is the lack of screenshots being saved related to ENB disabling the steamhook.dll?

ok it was related. For whatever reason if the steam overlay is disabled it won't save screenshots. Anyways I wanted to ask what's up with this chick on the ground, she still looks pretty lively.

That's one of the dead Arisens who have been traversing BBI and got bukkake'd by the roided up monsters. Their final thoughts still remain on the island though, like the memories of Daimon, Grette, Olra the pawn and even Death still echoes in the halls. It's pretty symbolic of the player's own struggle. The two whispers in the Midnight Helix are interesting: the guy at the bottom of the stairs seemed to be gay for his pawn while the one at the top went insane.

The Resonant ENB needs to be run along with the Don't Blind Me mod. All that trouble along with the extra load times on my toaster made me delete the dll.

Oh well

You do know that you can just make a free account and still be able to download, right? Nexjews being who they are, the free account option is not obvious, but it's there on the registration page.

Certainly isn't, since I didn't know that I could just make a free account and still be able to download, thanks.

...

Is that the one who says something like "If only I could have been in your strong arms again"
Surprised nips let gay shit in their vidya

Yup that one. The dead guy in question being the stereotypical barabarian warrior himself made me chuckle. Well portrayals of fags in Nip games tend to be either simply nonexistent or turned up to maxxximumfaggotry/10 for keks. Considering that the antagonist in the same game makes someone who looks and acts just like his adopted mother into his waifu then I'm not gonna complain.

Wait is that what really happened? He made pawn/original olra look like his mom? Damn son I guess I missed that bit

Grette took Ashe along when he was a shota and he started thinking of her as mommy and she also considered him her son. She even referred to him as her greatest love. After Grette got reptilized Ashe took over her pawn which is already a lore-breaking concept to be honest who already inherited her looks and personality. If that is not doujin b8 then I don't know what that is. Now we can be even more autistic and say that it was Agape instead of Eros but that has never stopped hentai writers before doesn't it?

SPOILERS IN BOUND
>Grette leaves to fight the Dragon
>She must have actually beat it and lost to the Seneschal (since this is how you become THE dragon) but its only ever said in-game she loses to the dragon
>Olra returns, since her master is gone now, Bestowal of Spirit takes place and she inherits her master's characteristics
>Ashe takes over as her master, develops feelings for her
>Fights dragon
>He can tell it's Grette
>Goes insane, curses the eternal cycle
>Dragon basically interprets this as his wish, so grants him the power necessary to destroy the cycle by turning him into Daimon, who accomplishes this by luring all Arisen to BBI and killing them

oh wait forgot to point out
>Goes insane because his choices are either kill Grette, his mother-mentor figure, or sacrifice his pawn (because she's his true love) for a wish
>Dragon takes her and he becomes Daimon
So yeah. Don't fall in love with your pawn.

No wonder Ashe is such an emo faggot.

I wish I had read these threads before I went gay for Valmiro.

Best gay is Fournival since he sells unlimited quantities of Sobering Wines and individual/group stat boosters.

Shieeeet I missed out on too much lore

Well it's not really your fault, the game's presentation of the story and certain mechanics is too subtle, while everything else is loud and screams cuhrayzee. Hell, I only just figured out today that you can also do that Nelson grab your melee pawns like to do to goblins by holding the grab button instead of tapping it.

Yeah, I missed out on it completely as well. Most I got was Daimon falling in love with his Pawn and then saying "fuck you" to the Dragon, thus the curse. Admittedly, though, I skipped Olra's dialogue pretty much every time it came up, since I only wanted my cursed items purified.

Stop. What the fuck.

No

Why you do this in every thread?
You lonely?

Dark Arisen is like a good one-shot manga that happens to have 100,000 pages so you either read it over and over again because you want to see all the little details and nuances, or put it down immediately to read a NuMarvel title.

It's like a good one-shot manga that was going to have 100,000 pages and then had half of them torn out

What the fuck is wrong with you? Did you have to watch Inception over and over again to really "get" it too? Fucking pleb.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. This game rewards autism and masochistic tendencies. Of course if you aren't autistic enough or don't like to torture yourself you're free to try other gaymes.

Also Inception is shit

Is cuckchan refugees here already?

...

A lot of thought went into the monster designs. Yet the end result doesn't stray too far away from established myths so they're immediately recognizable. It's almost like they specifically wanted to ponder to filthy gaijin with this game.

How the fuck do I kill this but?

Phoneposting is literally nigger tier holy shit

Are you implying that Japs can't like it because it's "Western"?

What class and what level are you nigger? If one of the bow users you can abuse the blast arrows to sodomize his ass or if you don't feel like cheating you can also use rusted bows to torpor him first. Also try using ice spells on him, if your High Gicel does fuck all to him then that's an indication that your level/gear is shit. Don't forget to use periapts to double your damage (use 4 of them). If all else fails just cheese him using Sixfold/Ninefold Bolt as Meme Archer.

Addendum:
For melee classes other than MK you pretty much have to torpor him to have a chance, or use the friggin hand grenades. For MK you can use your pawns as meat shields and use frost cannons from behind them, then get close to finish him off with Abyssal Anguish.

I assume you're barely level 100 since you only met the fucker for the first time?

Well I'm actually level 130 I just fucked around for a long time before killing grigori
I ended up using an ice tome and blast arrows on him but thanks man

Online when?

It's almost like they were trying to be faithful to western mythology and Miura's style instead of infusing everything with anime overdesigns

Are we talking about the firedrake in Devilfire Grove? That thing is really low-level, man

No dude the ones in BBI
The drake in the woods is just a drake
These are "fire drakes"
Also those fucking frostwyrms that cast spells, they hang out together sometimes

And why do "dark bishop" get that weird zoom-in cutscene death animation?

The Firedrake is the roided up version of the noob-killing Drake in Devilfire Grove, but with the same shit chance of dragonforging your gear. Most of the time it's not worth the time unless you need his mats, because he can still bully level 200 niggers who don't manage to kill him fast enough, especially when he's teamed up with the instacasting Frostwyrm.

It's a good thing they didn't use moe/animu aesthetics in this game because having bishonen/ojousama/rori shit in it would totally ruin it. Although some characters still represent those stereotypes which makes it funny.

I think it's to emphasize his role as a gatekeeper boss. All 3 of them (Gazer, him, Daimon) have special cutscenes. Or they just want to trigger Christians and le edgy fedoras for some reason

If there is a DD2, I really fucking hope they get rid of that shitty pawn training system, it's the worst idea i've ever seen. "Your pawn will learn to fight like you!" Why the fuck would I want a wizard pawn to learn to fight like my Warrior Arisen? Are you retarded? Convoluted ass backwards piece of shit. Stop trying to impress us with gimmicks, just give us a tactics list like every proper RPG has. Fuck.

you need to talk with the wizard to tell him what you're expecting him to do. you can do it in the city

Try reading this to figure out what to do and what not to do regarding pawn AI. Warning: it's severely autistic because it is done with scientific meticulousness and so you need to go into it with a certain level of autism yourself in order to properly make sense of it.

threadly reminder on what could have been

the pre Grigori stuff was supposed to come off as "generic" fantasy to make the post game stuff seem all the more weird like going to the moon and the infinite tower. I'd like to believe that the monster designs they had planned for those would be just as weird as the concepts, but we'll never know because Crapcom execs are hack frauds that don't want to print gajillions of dollars by BTFO'ing Bethesda at a fraction of the budget by making a properly funded DD2 that doesn't get cut to pieces.

Nips are obsessed with logical extensions so they will either go full genius or full retard. No middle ground. And that is why they shat out DDO because
