He's using a subset of the people complaining about SJW-influence in games as a strawman to represent the whole and obfuscating the scenario, either intentionally or otherwise. Yes, there are people so politically inclined that they'll project their own politics into all the media they consume. However, there is a definite undercurrent of SJW political influence in games, and it's not necessarily tied to the game's intrinsic qualities but its development and other meta qualities. Just like Gone Home and Life is Strange, game itself may not explicitly be SJW shit but it that doesn't mean its developer and the media coverage aren't.
The funniest thing is that his criticism could just as easily be applied to Anita and her ilk that complain that anything with a white male is misogynistic and/or an agent of the patriarchy.

I wouldn't have a complaint about sjw games if they weren't so shit. The usually have terribly written story, meh-tier visuals and awful gameplay. And don't tell me that Firewatch is the pinnacle of gaming. And why are you listening to a fat fuck's opinion anyway? Is it too tough to look at a bit of gameplay and formulate your opinion? I like to watch video game analysis but that's usually after playing the game myself to see a different perspective. Noah Gervais makes decent content that I like to watch for instance but I feel like he's drinking the kool aid and some of his arguments are either unnecessary or seep more personal than the usual objectively driven arguments. I watch him as he says that the tranny character in Baldur's Gate is okay yet his argument is the people going against it rather than the fact that such a character is simply weird and inconsistent within the lore since there's already an item that allows the character to change their sex. Yet he never mentions that little thread. And as far as I'm concerned, Jim does the same, except instead of let's say 5-10 % kool aid and 90% criticism it's 5-10 % criticism and 90% kool aid.

His commentary is quite interesting. I'd say it lacks any malice not out of anything else but his goal to try and reach out for a fair opinion. There is a youtuber that I watch that tries to copy the copies of AVGN that does the opposite with a very dry and at times filled with terrible commentary review that puts out a pretty good punch and ends up being entertaining. But this is also wonderful in its own way. It's the balance that I think Gervais is missing and destroying further and further.
