I'd just like to point out that you're wrong, Doom is not the first FPS. Doom is a well known brand because it's shareware was distributed to countless millions through practically every kind of medium with ports up the ass you could even get Doom in those cereal box specials for a time, the actual amount of people whom played Doom is actually not easy to quantify because of this but it's generally only games like Skyrim can boast those kinds of numbers Doom has.
