First, ABC News reported that investigators found a laptop computer in alleged shooter Stephen Paddock’s hotel room at the Mandalay Bay, but its hard drive had been removed. Previously, investigators had discovered he purchased software to remove files from a computer hard drive, but with the laptop’s hard drive removed, they have no idea if he actually used it. The report notes the hard drive would likely provide key information that could lead to a motive for the shooting—a matter that has reportedly confounded them from the onset. It could also provide information related to possible accomplices.
