Multiplats which are better on the GameCube

It's often said it was one of the two machines with the most powerful hardware of that generation (along with the original Xbox). It should theoretically mean that it has multiplats which look better/have more content on the GameCube than in other systems.

How many of them can you name?

Isn't RE4 better on the Gamecube than its PS2 counterpart?

killer7

Off the top of my head
IIRC Sonic Heroes was particularly bad on PS2.

Usually isn't it the Xbox that's the best, with the Gamecube 2nd? Only one that comes to mind that could be argued is Sonic Adventure DX, even then I prefer the DC version.

All 30FPS on PS2 or some shit, compared to Xbox/GCN.

...

Resident Evil

Auto Modellista
Timesplitters 2
Viewtiful Joe
MMX collection

Yeah it's one of the better examples, most multiplat don't get much better between the two, MoH:FL in particular runs worse on NGC.

Yeah, the PS2 version runs like shit. The textures look awful and the sound was really off for some reason.

...

these are all better on the xbox

OP there's beyond good & evil which has minor shader issues on the xbox port, but that's about it. Gamecube was the joke console of its generation

Lol

Soul Calibur: xbox
Timesplitters: xbox

Most people don't remember the OG xbox though.

Which is a pity because it actually had more worthwhile exclusives than the GC did. The only reasons people remember the Cube so much are either brand recognition or Smash Brothers.

Also
Try to beat that Nintendo.

the SSX3 GC version had the best visuals by far. (GC > Xbox > PS2). One less trick button (so a little more chording of buttons) was a worthy tradeoff for the improvement.
Funny that an EA game favored the Nintendo platform, but they used to actually have skilled devs working for them.

Pretty much anything that's on PS2, but not xbox.

I.E, DBZ Budokai 1/2, Tales of Symphonia(Even now it's still the definitive edition of the game), Killer 7(though only slightly), Viewtiful Joe and RE 4(less content, but you get a more stable game). Dreamcast ports are pretty sketchy, stuff like Chaos field and Ikaruga are fine, if only because they're english exclusive. Skies of Arcadia has all the DLC but the audio took a massive hit, and Sonic Adventure Director's Cut seems to be buggier than the dreamcast port and is missing all the DLC/internet rankings they just restored. Also MGS the twin snakes

Ikaruga on GC is missing lots of stuff like story and shit.

The GameCube version of Phantasy Star Online is objectively the best version of Episodes 1 and 2.

Or at least it was, until the PC version got Episode 4 and all of the GC's content.

Worth noting though, that the GC still has split-screen couch co-op multiplayer, for an MMO, which is pretty fucking cool.

Any proofs? Seems a bit dubious.

Gamecube version had Link as an exclusive, Xbox got comic-book Spawn and PS2 got Heihachi Mishima from Tekken. Link was good enough that his moveset got stripped of Zelda references and returned as a create-a-character moveset for future games so you didn't have to just use Sophitia/Cassandra's rather effeminate style for sword and board.

I do, it's the largest out of my collectionI even have SB and the green button controller

I can see this changing once emulation happens. The gamecube has nintendos worst library at least until the wii u. But its got a solid and accessible emulator that attracts an audience that at least densely populates forums. So it gets a lot of coverage here.

Pretty hard to be better on the Xbox when half the game I mentioned aren't even available on it.

He's probably thinking of MMA Collection. The gamecube has this really weird issue where Jump/Shoot are backwards compared to the other two.

The PS2 version has way more input lag though.

Original Xbox emulation is never going to happen.

What makes you so sure?

...

Try again.

textures are mostly the same, the lighting and shaders are different, some of the models are downgraded. And the sound is compressed.

Xbox emulation will likely never happen due to lack of interest. It'd require emulation of lots of Nvidia chipsets (soundstorm especially), and then there's the proprietary video decoding hardware that's used. Unless someone does its "because they can", we're not likely to see one.

Arnt most multiplats better on the gamecube, including being emulated?

You're not wrong but that's quite a far cry from the usual "hurr it's too hard to emulate", if it's never emulated it won't be because of that but mostly because no one with the time and skills to do it is interested in doing it.

Most of the system has documentation now because chihiro (segaretro.org/Sega_Chihiro) docs are a thing and the only reason there's no progress is because of this shit

Sims: Bustin Out has unique features for each console. But the GCN version appears to have the best feature.

PS2: "Online Weekend" that allowed you to have cooperative play online and share items (this could be done locally with memory cards on other versions). Shut down in 2008 the same day when The Sims Online was released
Xbox: Supported the HD cable.
GCN: Made use of the GCN-GBA Link Cable to link to the GBA version to unlock a arcade cabinet to earn money with and to transfer your Sim to the GBA versions and whatever skills/money you earn can be brought back to the GCN version. (It may be possible to unlock the arcade game using a Gameshark device in the other versions).

There's quite a few multiplatform games on the GCN that have exclusive feature/unlockables for linking the GCN-GBA.

so?
