It's nice, perhaps it uses too many resources for being just a voice chat, but it's still miles better than any other alternative. plus I personally enjoy the stupid sound-spam commands

I don't see how it's any different than Skype.

Beats the shit out of Skype now and it works just dandy on my horrid 16 KB/s connection unlike Skype so I'm a fan of it.

Skype tends to consistently drop in quality every now and then. The clarity is also just slightly below.

I think discord is alright, if not for the fucking memes they spout everytime they turn load.

if you make your own server you can disable all the stuff that lets the kids be memesters

I kinda liked "Escaping from the city." as the client-startup message when the SEGA streams were going on a few weeks back but otherwise I typically cringe at them. Especially when user-submitted Undertale ones come up.

My biggest problem with it is that the dev team seems to be criminally retarded, basic things like 1-on-1 calls went undeveloped for months to years and they still haven't given an option for you to disable that taskbar notification that doesn't work and makes 1/3rd of your screen tear.

had really no issues with it finally a way to talk to friends and shit without skype or buying a shit teamspeak server etc which i haven't had for years cause it was pretty cancer on the system

It's the skype killer of VoIP. A medium between TeamSpeak and Skype, the client lets you have different chat rooms in a server for different functions, as well as different voice channels- while also offering a friends list with invite group chat between friends- outside of servers.
But, just like with Skype- there are huge privacy breaking sections in the TOS document, which one can find more info with simple searches- Discord saves a shit ton of info and takes your rights on being able to do whatever the hell it wants to do with the info it finds. I imagine it's the price you have to pay for it being a free chat system.
Good program if you're a normalfag that doesn't mind people taking information on you.

Or just not have them on your server.

Just don't use it to send important information.
Use it to post porn, memes, and game chat. I don't give a fuck if they recorded my conversation while some friends of mine and I play Insurgency. Nothing else should be shared with Discord.
The only worry is if Discord tries to grab anything else on my computer, like osu! potentially can.

Goes for more polish and looks than being feature rich. I would like it if it weren't for the privacy issues, wasn't being supported by Tencent's jewery, didn't take so much to run a simple client, leddit memes while loading, no GUI customization, lack of hosting your own server or encouragement to make an account to use for multiple discords. Yeah I really want to use my normalfag account for a Holla Forums discord.
