Enjoying VR?

Now that we know Palmer of Oculus is financially supporting our meme machine against Hillary, have you picked your HMD up yet?

Why? Facekike owns the gRift now.

Oculus is owned by Facebook. Buying one only supports Zuckerberg.

Just get a botnet cardboard, fam

No.

I don't make purchases for people who support my way of thinking just because they support my way of thinking. And if I get a headset, it'll be the OSVR, not the Rift or the Vive.

Or, when the Morpheus comes out, I'll get one of those and just wait for the inevitable Chinese drivers to use it on PC.

Nope

Give it a few more years, we'll see some serious development with VR soon.

go back to Holla Forums

Didn't this "nimble america"-thing just try to unsuccessfully scam Trump followers over on leddit? Would fit in with the rest of his practices.

It's coming out in october and the machine powering it for weebshit comes out in november, so, no, I don't have it yet.

Oh, you meant the Zuckerbergolus? Good joke frienderino.

What always scares me is when exaggerated shit like this always somehow comes into happening within 10-20 years after it's said, meme magic is an awful thing.

This.
And I'm not even going to buy any VR.

We need to meme the memes where we get the good deal while everyone else gets fucked.

The Vive is the better deal and VR is still shit

...

Nope, would rather get a Vive. And Oculus is owned by Facebook anyways, which has been shilling for Hillary alot.

I'd only buy an Oculus if good stuff came out and I can use it completely without booting or running any software made by Facebook which is not the case so fuck it.

Suck a dick Hill Shill. We own this board.

This. He sold it to the jews. I remember an article in a jewish newspaper describing it as "Israeli tech". Same old story: Goy tinkers for years, fueled by idealism. Figures all of it out. Last minute, jew makes an offer goy can't refuse. Sold. It's ALL credited to jews now. Goy is a mere footnote despite doing 90% of the work.

Don't give them your money. If you have to strap a screen to your face, at least get Razers OSVR. I don't know if it's neg, but it's way LESS pozzed than Oculus at least.

THIS NOW THREAD #2

VR Devs Pull Support for Oculus Rift Until Palmer Luckey Steps Down

archive.is/4HSC4

You do realize this is a disinfo thread made in favor of hillary that you're defending, right?

There's no games and the technology is DOA. We won't see it again for 20 years.
And even when it comes back for another attempt in 20 years, it will still be DOA.

Strapping something to your head is a very 1980's concept. That's the problem with VR. Nobody is going to wear a headset.

Shut up

List of dead on arrival tech fads

I have spent none of my money on this shit and never will.

>blu-ray

Can you imagine how many personal identifiable hooks will be in a device like that in 20 years? I can't see any of it being trustworthy unless something like OSVR comes back around then.

I was only into VR because I was baited that it will be like SAO.

No. Something doesn't stop being shit just because the person who made it shares your political opinions. Also, it's owned by kikebook now.

this belongs to the gamergate thread.

oh look. he's poor.

Serious question, why should he give a fuck? He sold that shit to Cuckerberg. He has more loyalty to his nation that he does to his electronic device.

Until you can show me an actual game that uses VR as more than a monitor alternative, this isn't video games, and it belongs on Holla Forums or Holla Forums.

yeah remember how the election is important to video games
me neither.

4K is ignorant for gaming until the hardware catches up. Unless you have real hobbies like film you're throwing money away like a braindead nigger.

Current 4k TVs have horrible input lag, especially those with HDR. Yes, even the ridiculously expensive ones. Not buying into something that isn't usable for gaming yet just means you're not retarded.

Wearables have mostly been folded into IoT.

Smart watches, touch laptops, and 3D TVs are dead.

Convertibles, assuming you're talking about the tablet laptops, are still alive.

4K is not going to die, people said the same about 1080p. It's one of those techs that will just keep increasing linearly.

IoT is getting stronger and stronger, and it's pure cancer. Investors are pushing it hard.

VR is very much up in the air. We're at a critical juncture, and it doesn't seem to do anything, positive or negative.

No need for a second thread, wtf are you doing OP

Computers monitors were long capable of HD resolutions before tvs decided to stop being complete shit. And hardware requirements increase geometrically.

Stop being wrong and stop formatting your posts like that.

Chaim please

Daily reminder that Razer HMD exists. And it's fucking better. AND IT'S FUCKING CHEAPER. And also it's fucking open source, both software and hardware.

You don't belong here.

Even for film it's bullshit. It won't achieve the adoption of 1080.

Half a decade at least.

Your answer is right in your picture. Racing simulators. Also flying simulators. Playing those on a monitor just doesn't compares, even if you got sick triple head setup. In general however, it's not some groundbreaking thing, it's like a monitor but a little better, and on higher end of tech. And it kinda costs like a monitor, too.

My good man knows what's up

^this

Without quality software to play on it, who cares?

It supports OpenVR so any game that's not Cuckulus-exclusive will run on it.

The FOVE technically bests all headsets today, and yet, there isn't a single app for it.
NONE.

It's the same shit as everything else except it runs 20 fps less and has eye tracking which is sweet, except they don't fucking sell the damn thing so it's as good as dead.

TrackIR. Existed before VR. Does the same thing.

VR isn't that immersive. It's just track IR with an uncomfortable dual screen up to your face.

Please leave and never come back

Yeah but there's no games.

Politics are being forced into vidya, this is not an issue you can ignore. We all hate it and thats why we have to fight back, have you learned nothing from gamergate? This thread is redundant anyway, there is already another thread up but some faggot made a new one because the other hit the bumplimit

...

I'm talking classic films, not stuff shot digitally. Remasters of classics can keep up for quite a while long as there are negatives to work from.

...

It's definitely still niche, considering a lot of older things are barely now even getting blown up for 1080, so you're right about the adoption.

Is that a challenge?

Oh man this VR headset will go so nice with my 3D television!

No challenge in being a bottom, user. Aside from the dick you'll be taking down the road is going to be doing more than fucking you.

I don't know what you guys are busy doing, but if you feel like getting to gizmodo journalists fired now is the time.

That's literally a gamepad right stick that you control with your head. That's a retarded gimmick if anything. Saying that VR is also like this is equally retarded.

Eh I play my autism simulators, works for me.

He's taking his white knight role too literally there.

Do you have a HDK2? If so, can you adjust lens separation (aka physical IPD)?

Feels good not being a cuck

Hasn't the thread about this big–nosed cosplayer been deleted? So much for your puffed up self-importance, Holla Forumsacks.

...

You're on Holla Forums's turf, numale.

Stop roleplaying, Holla Forums. You're only embarrassing yourself.

So is VR. And the fact that you would use "gamepad rightstick" instead of "mouselook" proves you're a thumb-sucking console shitter.

Stop the larping, >>> /freech/. We know it's you

tbh, I had a grand time with my Oculus DK2, only reason I didn't use it a ton was because everything out there for it was shitty indie demos in Unity.

Nigger have you ever tried using mouse to "look around" while also using steering wheel or a flight stick? Minus TrackIR, your only option is POV hat which is fucking shit and you're really better off with a thumb stick.
Yeah you just never tried it. Same story as with people who say it's just monitor strapped to your face.

No and no.

...

It's just trackIR attached to your face.
The videos you are posting look like absolute shit by the way

Dang. Oh well, as long as you have fairly normal IPD it should be a very superior choice compared to oculus.

...

Racing/Flying sims are kinda the exception rather than the rule with peripherals considering _we_ already spend hundreds of dollars on wheel controllers and shit, versus most gamers who consider a mouse or keyboard above $75 to be a ripoff.

I bought one used from a friend that kept getting sick using it.
It's basically my sim monitor, perfect for Elite Dangerous and Assetto Corsa and that's all I wanted.
It's shit for everything else.

Didn't he sell it all to Facebook? Is he even still involved I nit at all?

This. I only got my rift for muh racing and space simulators. Already paid out the ass for everything else.

dis nigga gets it. VR was always doomed from the start for anything except simulators. Everyone who argued otherwise is a damn mug.

Credit where it's due though, Duke 3D in VR is pretty fucking cool.

VR is shit for simulators; the actual pixels per angle you get out of a HMD makes them worse than monitors and that is before you consider that the zoom in feature that the majority of the games in the genre have just doesn’t work well with VR.

It was rescheduled to Monday, apparently. Plenty of time to suicide the guy. On the flip side, if he does show up, that day will generate a potentially lethal dosage of salt with the Stonetear ass rape in the morning followed by Hillary shitting herself during the debates in the evening.

No, with TrackIR you're still limited with the monitor, you still only get narrow portal through which you can see the game, and to top it off it's stationary, meaning that you'll rotate your head in one direction only to turn your eyeballs in opposite direction like a retard to compensate. In VR your field of vision is very large (90-100 degrees vs. 25-35 degrees w/ monitor, it's like 4x3 seamless vertical monitor wall right in front of you), plus the display follows your head so if you turn your head left you don't have to look right, because the left is now in front of your face. You see just how much shit conventional monitor + TrackIR shit is like that you have to explain such basic intuitive things like a fucking autist?
And just what did you expect? Even something like this you can dismiss as utter shit, bland and boring - you're not the one playing it, you're just watching.

The difference isn't important at all
nope. you're just easily impressed by shit

Oh yeah like the difference between gamepad and keyboard+mouse isn't important, not one bit. Fuck off you retard.

...

...

You're not aiming the crosshair of your gun with your head are you? Top kek. Then it's not the same and your comparison failed.

It's just TrackIR on your head with an uncomfortable screen in your face. VR is shit and TrackIR is better in every way.

Be smart consumers Holla Forums and don't buy into the first generation of this unproven hardware. Just wait, there Is no benefit to being an early adopter

The zeitgeist of this resurgence of "Virtual Reality" has been around for 5 years now, yet there are ZERO proven examples of worthwhile video game experiences exclusive to what a VR headset has to offer.

Half arsed tech demo's, early access scams, pewdiebait, Interactive movies, walking simulators and mediocre pornographic experiences (no porn on Ps4) are all that awaits you.

Not even going to get into how moronic you have to be to purchase a closed platform hardware peripheral, for a system that can't even get simultaneous 60fps/1080p, when its a proven fact that in order to get a CONVINCING and worthwhile VR experience you need extremely high framerate & resolution. (140fps+ and 1080p+) not forgetting an extremely low input time, which even the autistic power of Carmack hasn't been able to solve.

But best wishes to those who pre-ordered! I guarantee the 2 hours of entertainment you get before the novelty wears off will be worth it!

It's only "shit" for simulators that require 10/20 vision and even then only because the panel resolution as of current year is nowhere nearly 10/20. But it's getting there. Ever since kikebook deal, research into high resolution panels was really boosted by huge factor.

...

VR still doesn't have an adequate FOV for what it should exist for in that respect. You just end up with an effect of having pic related on as it only emulates about half of a human's FOV.

There are headsets that cover your entire field of vision. And they are like two scuba masks, one on the left side and one on the right. Which set do you choose, one mask or two?

TrackIR to VR is like gamepad to mouse.
And just when I thought you said the stupidest thing ever, you just keep talking.

Yeah, I've heard that sort of set up can help. It would probably help with people who get nausea too and might get more than teleporty toys in the future that way.

Monster Girl Island, faggots.
It's not VR exclusive but still makes use of it and even the gimmicky controllers if you have them.

Nah m8 it's the opposite. Reducing view into tunnel-o-vision reduces VR sickness, not the other way around. Larger FOV gives stronger vection, and proportionately stronger nausea.

The first two gifs have a better example of the VR motion controls in use, spoilered for lewds.

TrackIR is better than VR.
It wins anyway. Nobody bought VR.
TRACK IR FLAWLESS VICTORY

I see, never suffered from it myself and figured a more natural FOV would help people. What an odd thing.

CULTURAL SHIFT

People who suffer from that motion sickness shit have shit genetics.

Grasping at straws there m9.

It helps with le immersion meme. What helps with VR sickness is building up a resistance through jacking up settings to produce very strong oculo-vestibular mismatch, and deal through it, few hours a day, until it's gone. Setting full persistence, disabling/fucking up positional tracking, imposing tracking lag, and playing old-school FPS games with a lot of running and jumping.

Here, have a webm.

This isn't video games. It's just politics. Delete this.

Fuck off reddipol. This isn't videogames

Won't this have severe consequences for Oculus considering they're owned by Zuckerbergberg, admin of Safespacebook?

...

Had you told me in 1998 after putting on a HMD for the first time and playing Duke3d on it that almost 20 years in the future VR gaming wouldn't improve much beyond that I wouldn't have believed you.

It isn't just VR that's such a let down.

Doesn't help that vidya hasn't improved much either.

Nice samefagging you dumb goon fuck.

Considering that he apologized like the sellout bitch he is and these devs are worthless nobodies no.

If I could look at some of the VR porn in this thread I don't think I'd have cared much back then.

It's certainly not good enough to warrant buying into a VR platform yet but it's improving.

I'm intersted in what else Luckey does, but I'm not giving money to Facebook.

Also enjoy these guides- as you guys might get shilled by the people who try to fuck up GG threads.

Ignore and report off topic and "unanonymizing" posts ("You must be Holla Forums" "I fucking hate Holla Forums fags and am from Holla Forums")
Ignore and report people responding to the above.

It must suck to be this much of a retard.

This really needs to be shilled more. Those events were heavily curated by the people who would go on to become GJP and most people were never told the whole story. People are so quick to blame that entire shitshow on Jackie boy but he was only following orders.

Jack Thompson was in Hillary's pocket and only backed off once HE thought SHE was going too far. Not only that, but Hillary was first elected to the Senate in 1999 by exploiting fears immediately following Columbine. She has literally gotten to where she is right now by shitting on video games.

Trump may have expressed concerns over video games in the past, but he has since clarified and solidified his stance on preserving and respecting the first amendment. Still gonna open up those libel laws though. And he has CERTAINLY never waged a decades-long censorship campaign targeting the internet and media.

IIRC the StarVR headset is 5K.

How the fuck do you run that at all? Running even the simplest shit will require a PC costing a fortune. Due to microstuttering from SLi, you have to use a single card.

This won't be running anything for years.

The same way you run CAVE setup with 6 projectors. You use a render farm. It has more to do with rendering software than number of computers, but it does implies that you will need at least one GPU per each display. Unity supports farm rendering out of box, not sure about other engines.

Why does everyone opposing your opinion have to be a shill? I don't get this Holla Forums mentality of calling all of your opposition "shills".

Microstuttering is an artifact of AFR, but wholly irrelevant for VR as it already disqualifies itself by the latency it adds to the pipeline. MultiGPU for VR will never run in AFR mode, it'll be SFR, dedicated GPU per eye or, the best option, dedicated codepaths specific to the combination of GPUs and HMD which split the workload explicitly, for example processing some elements twice or more because they'd be to hard to share between GPUs while offloading other parts of the workload to a dedicated processor which then distributes its finished work to the other GPUs in the system. It's quite unlikely that this immense ammount of optimization will ever find its way into the mainstream, unless a fixed system aka a console with multiple GPUs becomes a common target.

TLDR:
MultiGPU for VR on PC is dead before arrival.

Except it was there for a few years now. It's just monitor-oriented engines don't bother with implementing async shading and whatnot, because AFR will be good enough on a monitor.

In the mainstream? You're funny. There's a massive difference between running code on a wide processor and running it on separate processors with very limited interconnect bandwidth.

Nigger you're out of touch with the GPU tech.

Oh fuck off with your shit reddipol. Stop dragging your pointless political shitflinging into unrelated boards.

Simulators are not really for the VR audience. More stuff like arcade games like Elite Dangerous with simple controls (like gamepads or Joysticks).

Professional simulators work with actual physical cockpits aka real world controls plus (multiple) screens and/or projectors emulating window sights. Optionally they add motion-feedback for more realism.

No airline simulator uses VR. No F1 team uses a VR simulator for training their drivers.

Nigga I know we got the capability back to do good MultiGPU, but halfassed SFR is the most we'll get in the majority of games. Will it be done well in some flagship titles benched up and down all day all night all over the web? Sure, that's where investments pay out. Will it be done well in the majority of titles? I'll believe it if I ever see it.

No shit, they don't use simulators for training altogether.
Yea that's because it's literally impossible to simulate a cockpit physically without having a physical cockpit, and it's also impossible to use VR and the cockpit simultaneously, and pointless too.

But that only applies to surround projector setups. Unless you have CGI 360 degrees around you, you gonna need VR to get similar results.

Yeah you're way behind the schedule.

Would you stupid goon cut it out? Everyone can see you're samefagging.

What are other examples of this?

Einstein.

That's very well possible. Care to point towards some publicly available resources?

Remember that we're still under attack. This thread is full of outsiders falseflagging and trying to turn the site against itself.

Just look up async shading. Vulkan also gives a lot of leverage to workload splitting.

You have no clue about the inner workings of contemporary motor sports. > 90 % of the driving a F1 driver does is simulator time. Simply due to FIA restrictions and the cost associated with track time.
Guess what, I already sat in such a simulator: Boring PS2 graphics, but everything relevant like the $50,000-wheel is the real stuff.
Asked them about VR, got the answer that this "entertainment gimmick" is completely useless for simulation and training purposes.
A F1 driver doesn't need a make-believe thing for "immersion", he knows he is preparing for going to the real track anyway.

I don't have any fleshlight yet. Why would I buy sex toy which is same price as gaming console?

...

Really now? And there I've been told by fags who are into motorsport that only lowest of the low couldn't afford to drive real car on a real track, and that of course wouldn't apply to high end racing like F1.
Oh I see how it is, it uses 90's computer parts priced at $5000 a piece, it's one of those. It has like ten PCI extension cards and uses over a dozen parallel ports with ancient fucking electronics and abysmal baudrate. I wouldn't be surprised to know it runs on Windows 95 and the software wasn't updated in a decade, either. A lot of industry hardware works this way. But hey, that shit's not prone to failure and manufacturer will usually support it decades after it's discontinued.
It's not about immersion you dumb shit. It's about view angle and field of vision. You get jack shit with a monitor. If you drive around on an empty race track that's ok, but if there's traffic and you're stuck with tunnel vision then you're screwed, you gonna kiss the tire wall faster than you can say fuck. Unless you keep nine million mile distance from everyone which never happens on a real race track.

Tesla and Eddison.
Alexander Graham Bell and the Italian guy.

From what?
He has no shares in it and no position in the company.

You goys make it too easy

Fixed because you're too retarded to cap the spoiler as well.

wew apparently I'm retarded as well.

FIA regulations heavily limit real track testing time for all teams for cost reasons. Doing the races alone is expensive enough for private teams.
That stuff works on a networked standard PCs running Windows and Linux. Telemetry software is reading driver's inputs and feeding data to some track visualization addon, which sends the output to the screens/projectors.
All tracks are completely laser scanned, so the driver's inputs to the simulated car reflects the real thing as near as possible. This data is then used to evaluate driver's performance. The visual feedback itself OTOH is not important, so no F1 team employs video game artists to fancy up the track graphics, therefore it stays PS2-tier. That's the difference between simulation and a video game for entertainment.
200° FOV is pretty much standard in professional simulation, though it's not really needed, as you don't "race" in professional simulators (there is no multiplayer nor AI, that's a video game thing).

There are several different grades of motorsports, at the F1 level they do use simulators. Those simulators are FLOSS created and maintained by computer research departments throughout the world. Most racing simulator fanatics don't even know about them or have the technical acumen to set it up. And PS2 graphics is overstating it, Grand Turismo on that console looked pretty good. I think the public can try them out at Ferrari themed amusement park in Dubai.

This is only partially true, it's still a very expensive sport to get into. I've known a successful business owners that owned proper racing cars and getting a support team, practising, hiring a driver and making the cut to enter tournaments is no small feat. At this level using a simulator to save money could be considered something only the lowest of the low would resort to.

Maybe my google-fu has grown rusty but I still see neither a framework for measuring fillrates, shading rates, bandwidth between GPUs etc and distributing view-dependant and view-independant workloads accordingly across multiple GPUs, nor any claims for achieving this which would hint at non-public systems solving this problem, so unless you have a more direct hint where to look I'm still assuming halfassed SFR to be the norm for MultiGPU beyond 2 GPUs in VR.
Ah well, even if it was a wild goose chase it still was fun, so thx anyway.

No, money still goes to Mark Fuckerberg

My OP was satirical. It's amazing to me how many people on this site don't instantly recognize that style of ironic shitposting. What are you even doing here, really? Go grow up on 4chan like the rest of us did.

I'm done, niggers. Fucking done.

It's been a political issue ever since indies latched onto it back during the devkit phase.

How so?

...

Why is this thread even here? It's Holla Forums bullshit and tinfoil thrash.

Some important questions.
Is the oculus work with HTC vive motion controllers?
How likely would it be to get an oculus off some retarded SJW faggot for a huge loss of money on their part?

Because devs are throwing a hissy fit about it and pulling support for it from their games. It's only shit devs though, so whatever.

Why are you even here? You're you think developers are irrelevant and you're 4chan thrash.

I bet you guys buy Intel processors without flinching too.

It's here solely because you don't want people to talk about it

Yes.

...

ftfy

Oculus is Faceberg and is build like shit.
I am enjoying my Vive thoug, thank you.

No. And learn why yourself, it's not hard.
Resell it full price.

No, all VR is shit, I'm not being exclusive to faceberg VR.

Go back to Holla Forums faggot

All VR so far is shit*

And it was shit a decade ago when shills tried to make it a thing. I'll be here in ten years to laugh at you again.

Shit thread, OP.

I'll enjoy VR when it becomes a consumer viable price.
Just like 4k, 144hz, ect.

Even if it was CURRENTLY it still wouldn't change the fact that Oculus is a shitty product for a shitty gimmick with less games than the PS4. I buy products based on their objective quality, not politics and feelings.
