Horror Games

October is almost here, what are the best Horror games ever?

Are there any new horror games that are worth a shit? Or is it filled to the brim with meme games?

Thief

Nanashi no Geemu and its sequel for the DS, try playing them with headphones and lights off…alone…at night. Bone chilling.

Too spooky

But on a serious note I never understood the fear of the undead hammerites. I suppose it had to do with being crouched in silence for so long

Shit I didn't even know such a thing existed. Thanks user.

silent hill 2 and 3

don't play the FUCKING hd remakes they are monumental shittery and are worse in every way but mostly comic sans signs and shit is the problem

Yeah this one was ok.
Got a bit retarded in some places.

Honestly i'd describe it as a sort of video game adaptation of a japanese live action horror drama, if that makes sense?
Like you get invested in the plot and want to see what happens next, instead of just treating it as an horror game.

But anyway my suggestion is, and will always be, the original 2 PS2 Siren games.

And Garrot being shit at fighting.

Yeah they pushed back the mist quite a distance for those remakes didn't they?

A good point.

It's got a huge amount of problems, long story short stay away from the HD collection.

i play fatal frame 3 every october. it might genuinely be my favourite horror game ever made.

>that growing sense of unsafe-ness as you realize the ghosts are infiltrating your previously comfy and safe house

Nice
You're not my son anymore.
2 or fucking bust.

SH4 did the whole house shtick much better anyway.

Fatal Frame is under-appreciated as a series in general.

3 has some really amazing graphics considering it's running on the PS2. The lighting in particular is what impresses me.

2 is pretty good, but i've played it through at least fifteen times now and got really bored of it. i do like the village, but 3 just has something that i can't really quantify that i absolutely love and can't get enough of. and i agree about sh4 i'm always watching you. i'm… ALWAYS watching you. i'm always… watching you but man, don't try and fuckin tell me that when you saw that ghost's feet behind that curtain your sphincter didn't pucker so hard you could create diamond

If 2 didn't change how the camera did damage I would like it more.

FEAR

Fuck you betas that think only Amnesia tier shit made for manginas, qualifies

...

FEAR is like the most basic bitch "horror" you can possibly play.
In fact no one ever played FEAR for the "horror", they play it for the awesome gunplay.
What are you, 12 years old?

no john, you are the manginas

It has a pretty nice mix. That gun play is pretty damn fun. I love using that nail gun.

I really am tempted to play Siren 1 and 2, because Blood Curse was fucking hard and I want to see if the originals are any easier. Wasn't this made by the Silent Hill 1 director, what is with this massive difficulty spike?

No. Though, I did think the new Alien game was ok

Nigger, you are the unstoppable horror in that game.

If only they'd stuck to doing just that.

Jesus, how could they fuck up this badly?

Revolution 60. Have you SEEN that shit? Fucking terrifying.

Instead of handing it to a dev like Hexadrive or Bluepoint they handed it to this no name studio and gave them half finished source code.

Cibele
A terrifying journey into the fetid pools of this thing's mind.

SOMA's weird because the actual moment-to-moment gameplay is extremely unscary (look at this fucking guy, he's a disco ball with a security cam growing out of it), but I found the themes actually interesting and scary (even if other SF has done it before and executed it without a literally brain damaged protagonist).

Konami threw out the completed game's source code, so the devs had to reverse-engineer it all in like six months.

What have you done, you will awaken the cibelle fag

I'm sorry but it really is terrifying.

HAAH WAAW
Oh man.
No, they aren't easier, to say the least.
FS1 and 2 are games that will truly test your patience and resolve more than almost any other horror game ever made.
They're straight up frustrating and even obtuse games at time.

Right so the idea was to essentially emulate a japanese horror movie, so it's structured like a multi character movie, or a sort of series.
So there's all these characters and one character would do a sequence of events that would then play into the scenario of another character.
A very cool idea in theory, but in pratice it results in you bumbling around trying to understand what the fuck to do to unlock the next "block" in the progression, unless you're following a guide.

Worst case scenario there's an excellent LP of the first game going on right now that is very through, with every single item analyzed, even the manual shown etc.
I'd say you can use this to get a general idea of the game but you already beat Blood Curse, so you have a solid idea of what the game is like already.
So only use this when you get completely stuck (and it's still in progress and advancing very slowly anyway, so it'll take this guy a while before he completes the game).

Also can i just say all the new western characters in Blood Curse were annoying as fucking shit and really ruin the atmosphere of the game, that was by far the worst element about the remake.

Have fun user.

The problem is that they did not reverse engineer anything. Bluepoint reverse engineers. These asswipes at Hijinx Studios only have experience making mobile trash. They went ahead and used beta source code.

The frame rate and extreme trial and error were the worst parts of the remake.

If you can get into grey the mod is actually pretty good, the actual cool part is you beat the game once the hole game changes almost completely in hardmode.

I'd say trial and error have always been a part of FS tho.

If you're not reading a guide some of this shit will take you months and months.

I consider guideless FS1-2 for ultra hardcore horror fans only.
The kind of guy that scours the internet for obscure PSX horror and adventure games and has the free time and patience to sit down and learn the systems of the game and how to brute force shit by trying out everything.
Possibly a NEET with a lot of time on his hands.

Still trying to find a copy of Rule of Rose and Haunting Ground, but I always play Silent Hill 1-4 in October, followed by RE 1-4, then Demon's Souls. I know it doesn't count as horror at all, but I used to play Demon's for the Black World Tendency event every Halloween and now I just keep it up for the sake of tradition.

Also, want to say thanks to the anons that pushed me to finally play Siren a couple of threads back. I loved it. What's your thoughts on D? I saw it a local shop, and while I've heard of it before, I've never looked into it. I think it was around $40 with the badass looking case and manual. Worth it?

I'm wondering if i should i get this
Is it worth it or is layers of fear worth getting?

Well shit, now I'm a bit nervous to boot them up. Part of the reason why I asked was because I dropped Blood Curse with how much of a pain in the ass Episode 9 or so was, where you had to escort your daughter and if the Shibito got close to her it would be an instant game over, so I wanted to see if the originals were any more forgiving or if Blood Curse is as kind as the series gets. Not that I hated the game it because there were things I really liked about it, but man its challenging compared to some other horror games I've played

Looking at that footage for the original though it seems almost night and day compared to what I'm used to BC.

Horsehockey! I work 7am to 4pm every day, get home tired as fuck and I still beat Siren 1 and Blood Curse. Gonna work on 2 after I'm done with Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne.

It's about time management.

Some serious spooky. I'd say replaying RE2 on psone. And playing Kodelka. For cheesy spooky, Obscure on the Wii. It feels like playing CarnEvil with a friend.

BC is by far the easiest game.
Most of the gameplay improvements in BC actually come from FS2, you'll notice once you try it out.
FS1 is balls to the walls, no weapons whatsoever for 90% of all missions, it'll break you a new asshole basically.

Well that's true, i guess most people nowdays don't have the discipline required to pull that off but it can be done, i just assume it's way easier if you're a NEET, you've got more time to try shit out again and again until it sticks.

Are you used to pre-rendered FMV games? Do have time to set aside two hours, tops, to play it? Give it D a shot, however don't be surprised if its not your cup of tea. It's sort of a Myst-tier puzzle game with a few catches, like you can't save or pause and have to beat the game in less than 2 hours (Though you might be misled into thinking otherwise as it spans across 3 disk). A bit cheesy nowadays, but it's certainly an interesting relic to go back to.

Hope you know about constellations though, I think one puzzle in the game has references to them. It's interesting how back then there were focuses on piano tutoring and looking at the stars, not so much anymore.

Oh shit I remember that game. I saw it once in a bowling alley as a kid but I never had a chance to try it.

That sounds brutal, now I'm interested.

D is a masterpiece, go for it. Check out the HCG101 article on it too.

You'd be surprised. When I was NEET, I didn't have the will to do shit and spent most of my time laying down and watching Youtube on my phone. Now that I have a job, I'm always pumped to continue.

Back on topic: Anyone know of a Siren 1 Undub?

D is alright, nothing special, kinda frustrating at some point.

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND D2.
D2 is one of the weirdest games you'll ever play and everyone should play trough it at least once.

D2 is what happens when someone makes MGS2, makes it an horror game, but doesn't actually know what the fuck he's doing, and additionally they're partially insane (look up the developer and his strange life/development history).

It's weird/funny as fuck, find a way to play it after you finish D.

Tower of Latria and Valley of Defilement may as well qualify as horror, as much as any other part of that claustrophobic game.

Almost

And speaking of undubs…

Clock Tower: Ghost Head Undub

Eno was a genius not insane.

Just a reminder that the fog in Silent Hill was as much an optimization thing as it was an atmosphere thing. The Playstation 2 had limited memory and processing capabilities, so they had to use the fog to reduce the amount of things being rendered simultaneously so that the game didn't play like a slow motion movie.

I would also recommend looking up this 1up interview, though I don't know if anyone gets money from it or if it'll redirect to a Please-use-archive link because the website has been defunct for years. The creator, Kenji Eno, is just so interesting to read on.

1up.com/features/kenji-eno-breaks-silence

Don't be retarded

...

Honestly he was both.
I absolutely love his work but it dips into complete nonsense more often than not.
I think he had tons of genuine talent but also reached out to make things he literally didn't have the talent and resources to fully accomplish and was also extremely directionless at times.

Many of his ideas were incredibly foward thinking and in some cases prophetic regarding the direction the modern "movie games" would take, but that doesn't mean every single one of his ideas were…good.

All i can say is, i appeciate that he existed and made games, but i wouldn't say every game he made was a masterpiece or anything.

I don't know about that game but Layers of Fear is an extremely linear heavily scripted walking simulator. Some of the setpieces are cool but there's really no game there, you're on rails the whole time just looking at shit happening around you.

Another interesting thing about Eno is that he tried to make his games accessible to anyone whther they were blind, deaf, or normal. HE apparently did it since he got some fan letters by blind people and really liked the passion of their love for his games.

all these manginas

ITS ONLY HORROR IF ITS A WALKING SIMULATOR WITH A GAY FAGGOT AFRAID OF HIS OWN SHADOW

lol

Yep, one of the few devs i can think of that made an entire "game" targeted at blind people, audio only.

More of an interactive audio based VN tho, really.

I've always wanted for someone to replicate the entire thing in english by just re-enacting it in some other format and putting it online somewhere with simple choices like the original, it would the easy to do technically, the only hard part would be translating the whole script.

But i suppose the fanbase hasn't been big or dedicated enough over the years to do something like that.

I honestly don't think Kenji Eno is that well known, and it's a tragedy. Some of his friends supposedly tried to finish his "last game" for him but I don't know if they were ever able to do it.

haven't played this yet but it looks cool

What does Holla Forums think about this game? the concept seems pretty interesting to me.
steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=220358551

Ah, no. Atmosphere is great, will give you that. But level design.is atrocious. You never have full access to the mansion in any single day. So you have to spend time going down any 1 of many different paths that lead to the same location. And if it just was this, I'd still hive it a solid 8 or 8.9 tops.
What really infuriated me is that specific events had to be triggered in a specific way to unlock the next room. I specifically remember exploring all the first floor that I could go through, even remembered ghostly figure hinting at what door to go through but it was locked, before going to the second floor. After I cleared all the second floor I could, I went back to first floor. The hinted at door was still fucking locked even when cutscene event happened. I explored norther part of house and found jack shit. Went up stairs again and found jack shit. Than I explored southern end and still fucking nothing. Wasting film and herbs all this time. That was when I entered the hall with the hinted door from southern end of hall. Door than unlocked with no fucking cutscene event. Just decided to try opening it before turning off. Utilities wasted because of that shit. So I just gameshark it after that and just stopped caring.

i know which segment you're talking about (i think) and there are pretty clear clues if you read the notes/journals you find lying around. i mean, at its core that is what fatal frame is and has always been - walk here, photograph ghost, maybe witness ghost cutscene, receive clue as to where to go next, rinse and repeat

that segment you're talking is probably the most frustrating at least until you need to start using spirit candles though, so i'll give you that

Would anyone be able to hook me up with a Jap ISO of Siren 1? I've been looking all over for it.

real life

Siren has great Japanese boxart, but why do you want that instead of an english iso?

God fucking dammit.

...

I think it's because Tom Huwett was planning on soft-remaking both games to match his vision of the series.

From his comments, that sounds like what he was intending, but Konami slammed the breaks on it.

They did let him get new VAs in to do the voices.
That went down so badly with the fans though that they had to release a patch to put the original voices back in. Though the 360 version never got that patch. Or the graphical fixes that came to the PS3 version.

It's important to point out that even with the fixes the PS3 version is still not worth getting.
This isn't like the ZOE collection where on PS3 post patch ZOE2 is totally fine, SH HD is perma fucked.
On anything.
Forever.

Sad the last it got to appear in was as a bonus for the regular D2 in Japan as an in flight movie.

I want the jap voices, and I want to practice my moon.

Plus the english version has everyone speak with this incredibly thick british accent, it's hilarious but understandably immersion breaking for some people.

PROFESSAH TAKATO
PROFESSAH

the japanese language is immersion breaking

is that a tranny ?

You mean I wasnt the only one bothered by everyone speaking like a bong? It'd be one thing if they had Japanese actors speaking in engrish but they try like in Blood Curse, that'd be a better dub right there.

It's kinda bothersome at the start but you get used to it by mid game.
There's also some characters that sound fine, like Shimura.

Dang, anons werent kidding when they said Siren can get challenging, but at least it sometimes gives you checkpoints like when you have to escort the blind girl. Though I do hope fulfilling these secondary objectives are optional and arent mandatory to beat the game, the only one I stumbled across is when you get to play as the old guy with the gun in the mining area.

It's all interconnected, doing secondary objectives unlocks other scenarios and then in those scenarios there's secondary objectives and so on.
So yes, you need to do it.
And you need to collect a bunch of items, but i don't remember if it's mandatory to collect every single one of them, i don't think so, only some of them should unlock shit in other scenarios for other characters.

I play Dead Space every Halloween. It stopped being even scary after the first time, but it's fun to play once a year, been doing it for a few years now.

I should probably play the first Fatal Frame though. I've had it lying around for a while now but have yet to play much more of it. I couldn't even begin to remember where I left off.

I agree with ya here. The game as a whole, from a gameplay perspective, wasn't very frightening. But goddamn did the story give me chills, and really made me think.

That's what made it so special. They knew full well about the limitation and worked it into the story and atmosphere of the game.

Anything like Deadly Premonition?

...

Dead space was great then they fucked up so hard on 3.

Sorta?
But DP feels goofy and made with the INTENTION of being goofy, where D2 tries to be a serious project but falls flat on it's face and has all kinds of batshit insane moments that don't make any sense.

Look, just watch the intro.
This is supposed to be serious.
Can YOU take this seriously?

shadowthefinaldestroyershadowthefinaldestroyershadowthefinaldestroyershadowthefinaldestroyershadowthefinaldestroyershadowthefinaldestroyershadowthefinaldestroyer

The Jury's still out I think. All the usual checkboxes are ticked.

I don't know what you are talking about, the backstory why the MC is the chosen one to fight the Plant Monsters was genius.

Is this some tumblr-made DE?

Nope, you were not the only one. Still looking for a Jap ISO but shit is rarer than the holy grail.

The torrent I found even started going at 13kb/s then just stopped and that was it.

I found some pan.baidu links but it needs a password that was linked to a dead site. It's not like pan.baidu is anything but shit though.

Another thing I thought about was scraping the link to the PS2 classic from jap psn, then decrypt it and turn it into an ISO, but I was banned from psn and can't find a ConsoleID either. I'm not sure if I can even scrape it without purchasing it first anyhow.

Fuck man, the harder it is, the more I want it.

It's a shitty game and mediocre at best where scares are concerned.
You could play fucking anything alone at night with the lights off and headphones on and it'll be scary. Play STALKER or something immersive if you need to go to such lengths just to feel the fear.

I don't know what I expected.
I mean, I know I expected a Longplay, but that's not what I meant.

Inarguably the best Clock Tower game. Brother lost my PS2 but I still have that game on the off chance I come across one I can use. Game is freaky as shit.

Haunting Grounds has one of the best "villains" ever.

For the longest time i genuinely thought Daniella was an artificial creation made via alchemy, since the game had other esoteric/supernatural elements.
But no, she's actually just a completely batshit crazy and drugged person that has become so mentally shattered that the end result is the player thinking she's a homunculus, like she herself thinks she is.
It's brilliant, she drags you into her own madness.

She wasn't a homunculus?!

What spooky games do you recommend for one with a weak heart?

Clock Tower: Ghost head
Dead Rising (If you're gonna play OFF The record, use the jumpscare removal mod).
Fear Effect
Nanashi no Geemu.
Killer 7
Silent Hill 2 (and ONLY 2).

Probably will think about some more later. I got several.

Hah, forgot about this, didn't you?

Thank you, however, about only playing Silent Hill 2, I did play Silent Hill 1, it had no jump scares to speak of, it just wasn't that scary generally .

Ok well, if you can't handle jumpscares but you're too dumb for psychological horror and atmospheric dread, i don't think there's much the entire genre can offer you.
It's either one, the other, or a combination of those two elements.
If you aren't compatible with both i doubt you'll find anything in this genre.

What is that supposed to mean? Because I wasn't a scaredy-cat that must mean I'm too dumb? I had fun playing Silent Hill 1, and I did play 2 as well, they were both a lot of fun, i enjoyed the unsettling atmosphere, but it's not like i was pissing my pants.

Kek. I did. It happened to me only once so I forgot.

Yeah well, different strokes for different folks bro.

Following that list.

Bioshock
System Shock 2
Clive Barker's Undying
Folklore
Parasite Eve 1 and 2
Silent Hill Arcade (It's on PC)
LSD: Dream Emulator
Resident Evil 4 (A single jumpscare near the end of the game. Some dude coming out of an oven)
Yume Nikki
.Flow
Mongeko Castle
Space Funeral
Michigan: Report from Hell
Koudelka
Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem (One optional jumpscare with Alexandra in a bathtub. It's kinda out of the way).

I also recommend normalizing your PC's audio, that way jumpscares will be at normal volume and won't destroy your ears and startle you. Be safe user.

I think you'd really enjoy Russian roulette

fuck

Silent Hill is well known for it's psychological horror and lack of jumpscares, I knew what I was getting into before playing the first 2, heck, i even checked some gameplay back in the day to know if it was okay for me, that's what I often do.

Thanks my man, I'll try and check most of these.

And? Your original complaint was "it just wasn't that scary". If you specifically request something that isn't a jumpscare-fest, and then snub the definitive psychological horror series, chances are you won't enjoy most things people are recommending to you. If you think SH just wasn't that scary, most other jumpscare-free games are going to put you to sleep.

I'm beginning to understand the problem

What games besides Fatal Frame (and Luigi's Mansion) deal specifically with fighting ghosts and only ghosts and hauntings?

You're starting to put words in my mouth pal, the whole "it wasn't that scary" was just a passing comment, not to bash the game for it, I had plenty of fun and that's what mattered, out of all the games that I was recommended, i played a few, System Shock 2 being the most terrifying out of the bunch, that game gave me nightmares for a handful of days first time I played it, so again, stop putting words in my mouth, all I said was that I did not find the first 2 Silent Hills that scary, and you have to go all out, like I'm being some sort of hypocrite.

I watched some GAMEPLAY, not a freaking long play, nor a walkthrough, let me guess, because you pissed your pants playing Silent Hill, you now think that everyone else MUST to go through the same process, else they're too dumb, or cheated.

Jesus christ man.

>I-I'll put some words in your mouth! See how you like it!
The tough guy act is going to be hard to keep up after that System Shock 2 comment

Geist

What tough guy act? I did not find X scary that must mean I am acting tough right? Oh I forgot Silent Hill is the scariest game ever, so I must be faking it, right?

Oh come on now, go back and check Reddit again, I'm sure you can find a better reaction image than that.

Sorry, I am not playing along anymore.

The original Slender alpha is probably my favourite horror game.

People bitch about it a lot because there wasn't a lot of depth to it and it kickstarted the surge of shitty Slender clones and Pewdiepie wannabes.

But at its core, Slender was (in my opinion) a great game.
It starts off slow enough that you feel safe. There really isn't anything getting in your way, and you'll probably just wander around a bit.
By the time you have a few pages though, the panic starts to set in. Slenderman's constantly accosting you and there isn't much you can do about it. If you look at him, you start to lose sanity which eventually kills you. If you look away, he draws closer. There's really no win condition for you unless you can manage to cut your line of sight somewhere, and even that's just a bandage on the problem. He'll be coming back shortly, and you might not have made any progress at all (or even moved further from the next page you need to collect.

It really just played into paranoia. You're not being chased, you're being followed.

Who are you quoting?

First you slam Nanashi no Geemu and then you give us -this- bullshit?
It's true what they say, some people are born just to piss everyone else off constantly.
I'd punch you in the goddamn face right now.

Eternal Darkness Sanity's Requiem is alright. The combat is stiff by today's standards, but if you can manage to play SH 1 and 2 along with the old RE games, you'll be fine. It's interesting that you can highlight and attack an enemy's specific body parts.

This game is like a Nintendo version of Silent Hill. The magic spells make the game ez mode and the puzzles are pretty straightforward, and of course it's not really pants shittingly scary by any stretch of the imagination, but it does offer a decent atmosphere and the story's not too bad either.

What cliffhanger? Issac died to save humanity, the end. 3 was great end for that trilogy and dumb hipster faggots shitted all over it.

When it came to the actual suspenseful elements, Nanashi no Geemu was lacking. On a similar front, the gameplay itself was lackluster. What it did have, however, were characters and a story that could suck a player in and hold their interest.
I can see the appeal but I can't say that it's a great game. Note that I wouldn't say Slender is a great game either; just a concept that worked in execution.

Alien Isolation was alright I guess, but maybe I'm just jaded. Games never spook me anymore.

It's the difference between a horror-themed game and a horror game. F.E.A.R is the former, you play that game for the combat, not the horror.

Also you're practically clutching at straws, strawman straws. Not a single person you've replied to even said that Amnesia or the like was good horror.

If youre into highly stressful survival horror games:
REmake is on pc and non nintendo consoles now, meaning you have no excuse to not experience the masterpiece. RE0 Is a good alternative and while not overall as effective as REmake, within the first hour youre given one of the infamous RE countdown moments which feels horrible to experience but upon completion incredibly satisfied, before becoming immediately horrible again.

RE:R 1 and 2 are also an excellent blend of the old RE styling and more modern gameplay sensibilities, depending on the difficulty you choose, the game can be incredibly stressful.

Eternal darkness im sure youre well familiar with

Eldritch is a bizarrely effective game, it looks like minecraft, but plays out like punishment for your sins. Seriously, dont let the trailer music fool you.

If youre more into games where the themes themselves are more disturbing and thought provoking:
Silent hill 1 and 2, shattered memories is also good but its only on wii and psp

The penumbra games a classic adventure styling, and you get very few chances to fight back, that series is all about atmosphere

A later game in the same vein from frictional is amnesia, same applies as above

and the latest game from frictional, which again, same as above, is SOMA.

Anybody played obscure? Picked it up as a joke at my local game store because i was looking for "something obscure". Reviews i saw online were generally good and apparently theres different characters with unique abilities and its coop so maybe my brother will get in on the spooky even though hes a gigantic pussy.

Can Bloodborne be considered horror?

It has some horror elements, sometimes you'll be fighting something and wondering "what the hell am i even looking at".
It contains more disgust at the alien designs and a nice atmosphere, rather than straight up horror.

It's a little hard to be scared of things while you're zooming around at high speed iframing trough blows ripping into things.
I will admit that there's a couple of enemies that are a little scary if you don't know how to approach them, tho.

I played the second one and I wasn't all that impressed to be honest. Though it was on PSP

Does something have to be scary in order for it to be considered horror? honest question

Obscure 2 is fucking hilarious.
There's a guy that tentacle fucks his own sister after becoming infected with the T virus or some shit.
Some Z movie tier bullshit.

I'd say a horror game is a game that manage to succesfully fill the player with a sense of dread and stress.
This can sometimes bloom into fear, or not, depends on how much the game pushes the player buttons, and what kind of person the player himself is.

Bloodborne definitely has those two things, but maybe for different reasons than a more traditional horror game.

Is RE4 a horror game?

Cursed Mountain on Wii and PC.
Echo Night 1, 2 and Beyond on PS1 and PS2
The Calling for the Wii
DreadOut on PC.
Nanashi no Game and Nanshi no Game Me on NDS
Ju-On on Wii

Well i don't know.
I was never really invaded by a sense of dread and stress while playing it, my movement was far too fast and agile, i felt like i was playing a solid action game the entire time, too empowered to feel afraid.
As i could iframe trough everything i rarely feel in any danger, but i do have a very extensive background in split second reaction action games not to mention souls games since DeS, so that might've been part of it.
And yes, RE4 is for the most part still considered an horror game.
It has a horror-action balance, with shit like regenerators and such being genuinely terrifying the first time you meet them.

Stress isn't necessarily unique to horror, dread is pretty subjective. In broadest terms you could say that horror, in any medium, primarily focuses on the negative emotional experience of the audience; even other games which instill stress don't necessarily primarily focus on that.

Even outside of BB's campy grotesque aesthetic it puts a lot of emphasis on other traditional horror elements, like a strong focus on sound design, it could comfortably fall into action-horror.

Anyone got any spooky stories? I have a few, but I need to get in the spooky mood first.

Thank you m8s I will see if I check some of those out

Repost this story in five threads in 10 minutes or Matsumoto will get your soul

MATSUMOTO OUTTO

THAI KICKU

The game uses 3D Sound and it must be played with headphones to get the full experience. You also have the retro game sequences "glitching" and how it fucks with you by pretending that the console BIOS is fucked. I'm guessing that you played them on an emulator with speakers and not on an actual DS where it was meant to be played, otherwise much of it's scary factor wears off. Also a game doesn't need to have lots of "scary spooky moments" to be well, scary. The sound design is wonderful and the story is unique, even more so on the sequel which improves over everything the first one did.
tl;dr you are a faggot.

Also STALKER is garbage.

That wasn't scary.

No.
No this is not okay.

That can be spooky if you wonder if the cop could have killed that apartment dude.

Well fuck.

That's exactly it. That's why he bothered to come back in the first place, to see if that guy was a witness or not. It also implies that he had followed him to his apartment, since he knew which was his

Guess so.

Man, Japan has a good deal of scary shit. I remember I used to watch clips of some show in Japan that they showed people ghost and other spooky videos. Of course I don't speak nippon so I don't know what they were saying.

Who Obscure here?

You guys wanna have some spoopy fun?
Watch this at night, headphones on, light off, it's one of my favorites.

Well you might or might not like it, depends if you're really into japanese rituals and such.
If you like Siren you'll probably like parts of this at the very least.

well fuck me. Japan is fucking scary when it comes to their rituals. Even more scary than those cryptid things we have in my state

Just the tip of the iceberg, search youtube for "Silent Hill HD Collection review" for the full soulcrushing

I'm sure it was meant to be a joke

...

...

Wasn't there a PC version of this?

Yep
theisozone.com/downloads/pc/windows-games/the-suffering---prison-is-hell/

Yeah

That looks like a giant nose.

That link okay dubs man?

>start having lucid as fuck wet dreams about all the ones I played.

...

Oh my god yes

I need then source so I can enjoy this full quality.

Someone else posted it here, sorry.

Oh god, I'm only 50 minutes in and I know I won't be sleeping
>"it isn't just a baby cry. it's five babies crying"

The only thing scary about these pieces of shits were the constant tick damage they applied whenever you were around them.

Jesus, that thing was annoying.

I really want to know if the retarded/psychic guy has done other roles.
He was by far the best actor in the movie, he did a really good job.

It's mostly the burst damage at the end that fucks you.
But once i learned that you can iframe trough the burst by correctly timing a visceral attack, farming them for gems became pretty fun and fighting them in dungeons became tolerable as long as i had enough time to propely set up the visceral and time it.

Yeah, that's what it was that really irritated me. Especially around that clock-tower section with that huge Eldritch abomination that fucks you up for even looking at it. I honestly would've never figured that out.

I was so burned out on Soulsshit by the time Bloodbourne came around I barely managed to beat the game. I don't think I even got past the first 25% of Dark Souls 3.

Shit, I really need to get on that.

My nigga. I just started playing 2 days ago and I´m loving it.

How?

worse, she's used to be a presumably QT woman kidnapped into being that one fuck's bride, drugged to hell and experimented on until she faced a permanent mental breakdown (which made her subserviant to the castle's master), loss of pain and serious body image issues to the point of being convinced she wasn't a human, but rather a homonculous made by the castle master as a defense mechanism of the subconcious, as a way to permanantly seal away the atrocities committed on her.

When she sees Fiona, a woman said to carry Azoth (the essence of life and creation) within her womb, she fucking snaps and tries to murder her and eat her womb, to become, in her eyes, "complete". Looking into a mirror is implied to have a psychological effect where she has to look at herself and admit who she is (human), which causes a conflict and great mental strain, which is why she freaks the fuck out at any mirror you trick her into looking into.

I think there's records in the castle that state this in pieces.

One of the most well written characters in video games.

I think she just hates herself and her body.
Looking at herself in the mirror reminds her that she's a woman but she's not really a "woman" because she's sterile, it's the ultimate "void" and what makes her "incomplete" in her eyes.
Her comments about Fiona and women in general seems to indicate she fucking hates women because they can experience sexual pleasure and have children and she can't.

She was no doubt sexually abused multiple times growing up in the castle but she couldn't netieher hate it, or like it because simply put she doesn't feel anything, even during sex.
It's just like when she gets smacked in that cutscene and she feels "bad" but she doesn't really give that much of a shit, she's completely disconnected by everything that makes her human at this point.

She pretty much wants to die, thus why she smiles in her last moments.

Are there any more movies with that Kobayashi dude? The Curse feels like the ending to some sort of series since it builds up that dude being an investigator or some shit

Nope.
It's just set up like that to give more depth to the character and also a better context to the story as to why he finds himself into that kind of situation.

Damn, that sucks.

I guess he's still alive somewhere? I mean, he mailed the camera to some people so it's a possibility. Or it could've been the demon playing a trick.

Also, I love the design of the demon itself. Most movies go ridiculously over the top with how "scary" a demon looks, but the design for t his one was simple but fucking horrifying

The Suffering
Splatterhouse 2010

They could have done so much more with the Dead Space Universe, than Giant Zombie Moons.

Its a good fun game and despite the fact that the Story is "Teenagers fight Monsters at their School", its more serious than most other Horror Games.

Especially the second Game goes into detail how fucked up the lives of the Teenagers have became after the experiences of the first Game.

When does that Friday the 13th game launch?

I found it fun to play and it had it's moments. The jock is the best character in the game and the boss is a breeze with him. For scares I'd say the scariest part is the ilithid knockoffs because of how quickly they'll kill your characters off and you'll have to actually be thoughtful and conserve resources. Atmosphere wise it's basically set up to be like a B horror movie with fixed cameras that look like something is stocking you and you're seeing the PCs through the stalker's eyes.

But yeah the second game is hilarious and just bad.

friday the 13th?

I don't think they're that slick. So far all i can find is 'fall 2016'

You never know, they could pull something like that.

Also, reposting a spoopy story. Feel free to share your own

Great games that has coop, no really, they are great.

However the first game is kinda better than the second though, I didn't like in the second having so many characters and start losing them "randomly" cause story plot, also the story was even more retarded than before. I know that it was suppossed to be cheesy B Tier horror movie but it went from B to D with the second one really.

If you have the psp version you can watch the cut true ending where Corey lives

Someone on the iso zone was kind enough to upload the game for me. Here it is.

Siren (JPN)

firedrop.com/02b31d5a6cc70e0b7d99aca204bb09f8

Tell me fucking more, right fucking now. I NEED IT.

in the same boat, not completely lucid yet but sexualised most of my fears and nightmares I had as a kid

developed some weird fetishes from that too

Aww shit, fuck yea. 5 star post user. That movie is amazing. It takes a little patience sometimes because it's a slow build, but jesus christ, it's worth it.

Mod for what?

Got a video of that?

Half Life 2.

Surprised nobody mentioned Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth. Sure, it has shooty sections, but a huge chunk of the game is pure horror adventure with stealth.

Oh yeah.

All of Shiraishi's movies are worth watching even though Noroi is definitely the best. But if you want balls to the wall spooky, Cult was really good.

It's great up until the first gun, then it's meh all the rest of the way.

Thank you very much user, i've never seen other movies by Shiraishi, i'll check out Cult right away.

Also Clive Barker's Undying is fucking amazing, the best game he ever made.
I also liked the designs in Jericho but the game itself was pretty shitty and nowhere as good.

The whole Shoggoth segment is pretty great.

Fair warning, don't expect something anywhere near as clever as Noroi. Cult is "So you want to see a malevolent supernatural force fucking shit up for 90 minutes - the movie", though it's still framed in Shiraishi's reality TV style.

I liked Jericho okay despite the broken gameplay. It's all about the aesthetics and going from bad to worse with no hope in sight. If only the devs had never learned about QTEs.

I loved the chase scene where you need to lock doors behind you etc but I never finished the whole game because it constantly crashed on my computer and it kind of ruined my appetite to continue. From what I've heard, the PC port was basically done by a single dude, so it's not exactly the most stable game.

Nice.

On the side, one of my favorite horror games is this one where you play as serial killer Phil Fish and you end the game paraphrasing "suck my dick, choke on it," after shooting an androgynous twink.

>VISION

Oh God, what did he want?

Seems interesting, i'll give it a go.

Here's the backstory for the would be Call of Cthulhu trilogy that never happened due to DCotE being a half finished game. Thanks, Bethesda.

Oh nice. Thanks for sharing.

Well, it was the highlight scene of Shadow over Innsmouth. They did a great job of recreating it.

My brother mentioned something about a horror adventure game set in a hotel where you're the investigator for some dude's inheritance or something. It's apparently free, and I can't find it.

Help me bros

Either embed or this part youtube.com/watch?v=K1ruGrLy3ew
Basically there was going to be a time mechanic deciding if you or Corey got to Kenny first, and if you made it first he'd survive to be in the now nonexistant Obscure 3

I think that's the plot of one of the Chzo Mythos games

Oh yeah, that reminds me.

If someone want to see what Yahtzee was doing before he became the most boring, good for nothing "reviewer" wasting his time with his mediocre and poorly researched opinions and being shit at vidya and making incredibly boring let's play videos with his ex-alcoholic completely unlikeable aussie cunt of a """friend""", check out the Chzo Mythos games.

They're probably the only decent thing he'll ever accomplish his entire life.

Im currently playing a Thief 2 fan missions (Better Tomorrow) and it's fucking scary, it's also pretty gorgeous.

How is that roguelite game ripping off Lovecraft he made ? I saw it popping up on Steam but I completely forgot its title.

The Consuming Shadow, which I have installed but haven't tried yet. "roguelike" "Lovecraftian" "procedurally-generated" "indie" survival horror game set off so many warning lights to me that I thought he was being ironic at first

Yep, solid adventure games, way better than his reviews would suggest

No problem bro.

Here's my 100% save file for the Jap version as well, in case anyone wants to replay with everything unlocked.

my.mixtape.moe/ukfpdl.psu

The Consuming Shadow.
I heard decent things about it when it was still in beta, but the complaints i've heard most prominently were that it was ripetitive and lacked content.
Dunno if he fixed those issues in the finished version.

who knows. But considering his track record with Shattered Memories gameplay wise, nothing good.

Shattered Memories is an okay game on it's own, don't get me wrong, but it certainly isn't a good idea for a silent hill game.

I think it's fine as a SH game, since it's just a spin-off. I like what-ifs in any media, so long as it's clear that it's not canon.

Man i fucking hate Yahtzee, he's gotta be the biggest most obnoxious cunt out there. Shitting on good games while the stuff he has made is nothing to write home about.

i think that's his character, if he has any dislikes he blows them out of proportion

What the FUCK just happened.
I'm not even mad, i'm amused, it's basically self parody past a certain point.

Different kind of spooky from the same series.

That actually sounds great the way you described it.

I was thinking the same thing. Makes me want to watch it if for nothing else but to laugh and take the piss

Oh man, I remember that movie. It goes from "pretty creepy in some parts, okay" to "so-bad-it's-good" really quickly.

A lot of darkness for an optimistic-sounding title.

Holy shit user, i shouldn't be laughing this hard at a post.

You're never going to believe me but I had completely forgotten about this fucker. I was more impressed by the actual idol playing as her actual self killing her agent and declaring she's going to destroy the world.
But yeah, I did say Cult was balls to the wall, not clever or subtle.

Playing Silent Hill 4 for the first time now, just met this cute boy

KILL HIM, KILL HIM BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE.

When you return to the cathedral and put the eye back, all the hammerites activate and see you. Always shits my pants because those fuckers are sanic speed.

Is it better than FF1? I found it fun at points, but the ghosts stop being scary a few chapters in and more about you just being fast with the camera.

One of my all time faves. Alone in an eerie mansion during a rainstorm? That alone is enough, not to mention all the creepy shit.

I see that pic and all I can think of is the headless men.

...

I feel like killing everyone else but him right now honestly
What the fuck?

He deserves it the most.

And yes, that prison is spooky as fuck. Enjoy visiting it twice user, like the rest of the game.

What a completely innocent youth who has done nothing wrong and will continue to do nothing wrong
Be sure to give him lots of chocolate milk

I like 1 the most because it got genuinely hard for me near the end. I ran very low on supplies and began to actually run for my life, something that other Zero games never did. and miku is love

2 was… too easy. has some great moments though, like SAE. Sadly the main plot device is lost in translation and I believe it removes a lot. And I'm still to this day very mad at the normal ending.

3 did good reuse of previous game's assets without feeling too similar in my opinion. And the gradual worsening of your situation made it tense in the end, I loved that.

Games past 3 do not exist.

Was 4 that bad? All I ever saw out of it was the ZSS outfit
A tad too sexy to be spooky, but seemed harmless otherwise

Wait is there a 5?

Any source on that?
Couple weeks ago I stumbled upon an amateur porn clip with a girl who looks so much like Daniela it's scary.

Yeah, I'd say it can.

Undying was pretty cool but I dislike how half of your abilities and weapons just plain sucked. The lightning shit looked so cool but when you actually use it it was the pathetic ability in the game.

I played the game several times, unlocking everything and reading everything, and I honestly don't remember anything of the sort.

Huh, had never heard of this game. Curious to try it out now.

Fuck yes, thanks for this user, I know what I'm spending my night on !

Anyway, I'm still sitting on Scratches, been meaning to play it for years and haven't started for whatever reason. How good/spooky is it ?

Real SCP vidya when

Scratches is one and a half good scares inbetween impossible puzzles.
Namefags leave.

Aren't you that pedo namefag?

Try Nightmare House 2, it's a free source mod, but well done, subtle where it counts, to the point, and with good spooky segments.

Ah shit… I don't mind puzzles but in spook games I prefer when they don't force me to spend two hours on them. I still remember these hard mode puzzles in silent hill 3, fuck's sake, no, I haven't read every single shakespeare book nor do I know them by heart.
By the way, also, is pathologic spooky or just unnerving ? Still planning on buying it during a sale and when I get more dosh

What's the difference? Last I remember the game is like $15 even not on sale

Decided I played enough for today(went to apartment world from start in one sitting). Will continue tomorrow or some other day. I like this game, I don't know why people say this is the worst SH game. Perhaps my thoughts will chance when I visit those places twice like you said. I like this more than SH3

Henry is quite stoic, I don't know was that a choice or did the voice actor butcher the role, but I like it. Also will I ever be able to read those Ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs? And a few random pics

I'm sadly a worthless NEET so money is scarce.
And what I meant was… well now that you mention it, sure, there's not a lot of difference between the two, but "spooky" is pretty much constantly gonna make me terrified of playing and scared of the next corner, whereas unnerving would be a sense of unease, like I'm not entirely sure what's going on, or if I like it or not, for example.

The problem is not the beginning of SH4, the beginning is fucking golden.
Most of the problem comes that it loses big part of that Silent Hill vibe and you're not on the town either. What's more, replaying ALL THE AREAS a second time is annoying.

Also, immortal enemies that chase you are not fun neither scary, they kill big part of the atmosphere and makes exploring really annoying. Also the limited as fuck inventory does NOT help at all either. The melee in 4 is the most satisfactoring at least with those charged moves.

I think most silent hill games have "cold" protagonists. Not that they don't feel anything, but oftentimes, unless very personal and emotional things happen, they tend to even react in "softer" ways than one would in real life.
I think a big reason for that is simply the fact that it's easier to "relate" to a character in a horror game when it's a "shell". Nowadays most spooks are first person, so it's a cheap and obvious way to make the player feel like "the character" : you're literally behind their eyes. But a third person horror game requires making you care for the character to the point of "being" that character.
The most efficient solution, obviously, is to make the character afraid at the same time as you; if you jump or wince together, then in a way it means you ARE the same person. But I suppose having characters that are always a bit "distant" to the entire thing somehow, like they're even watching their own selves, is very efficient and powerful as well.

Between those two it would be a sense of unease, since the threat is mostly conceptual and can rarely be directly seen

I see. It's something I'd have to play anyway, but it might be a bit easier to get into it if I'm not expecting jumpscares or shit like that. I still can't finish Cry of fear because it's way too tense and dark. This shit just wrecks my heart.

4 was an abomination.
Introduced press A to slowly pickup items so that a ghost can jump scare you.
Removed the fixed cameras and the snappy controls for sluggish movement, a standard 3rd person camera and waggle to look up or down.

It has sequences where you play a guy with an overpowered flashlight that goes rambo on ghosts and clears rooms with 20-30 of them.

Shinku no Chou (2 remake) uses the same gameplay but a bit refined, so it's a tad better. Not as good as the original though.

Can't say about 5 as I don't have a wiiu. But the controller was practically made for this game.

I'm still pissed and baffled at nintendo's censorship of project zero 5. I had the physical version reserved and shit, and they just did that… cancelled it and haven't touched the game. So fucking disappointing.

I'll listen to you reasons for doing so. If they are not good enough then here are some recommendations for you
>>>/reddit/
>>>/neoFAG/
>>>/oven/
>>>/gaschamber/

kill yourself

Project Zero 5 isn't scary, like at all, and one mission is absolute horseshit. But as a pseudo-VR ghostbusting game it is actually really fun.

Has any one been able to get the Blair Witch games running on Windows 7?

Can SMT: Nocturne be considered horror to some extenet? The atmosphere at least is superb, and it really pulls me into the world-has-ended-and-it's-just-souls-and-demons mood. Some parts or characters can be kind of unnerving like Sakahagi, but it also has some really dumb moments like Thor being a whiny little shit.

How about Shadow Tower: Abyss?

Wanna know something I love about the site?

The option that says Forced Anonymity. Makes every namefag default to Anonymous like the rest of us so they can't be special snowflakes. Use it faggot!

What's the matter on your end? I got them running so I might be able to help.

I just started filtering all namefags

Most of them are in fucked up situations where over reacting would get them killed. Heathers basically the only exception and she comes off as a mega cunt for a reason.

Harry over acts because PS1 era.
James is suicidally depressed
Heather is Mega cunt
Henry is confused and thinks he's in a weird dream.

Your post modernist bullshit is showing. Cut scenes don't scare people, you disconnect from the game while they play. The worst is "oh shit..". It's actual gameplay that gets to people and the character you play has zero reaction in most cases.

Why the fuck should I have to use it? Attention seeking niggers should be flamed off the fucking site until they learn not to be faggots.
This is the correct solution.

I've played it but its far from being an actual SWAT team
You're just an ex-SWAT

SMT is definitely horror. All of them are horror themed with their own era's culture slapped on top. 1-2 are cyberpunk and 3 is dystopian.

1, I don't own them.
2, I've never tried to run them

I've always wanted to play them but never got round to it. The original film fucks me up, the new one ruined the original film so fuck it I'm going to the games.

What about underhell
You probably played that already

Well that's news to me.

of course since they're essentially the same thing

the concepts in it are great

if that aspect was more of the focus and the gameplay not shit then it would have been the best silent hills, ya'know if we igonre the story of it of course

She acts like an asshole to everyone constantly.

The team said over and over again that they tried to make the characters feel like real people more than fictional characters, which was the driving influence in the casting, voice direction, and FMV direction, he isn't entirely off the mark.

Poorly directed cutscenes don't scare people, but the cutscenes in Silent Hill aren't poorly directed, some of the most iconic horror moments of the series happen in cutscenes.

Well now you're just wrong

Because once everyone starts using it, they'll clue in that their namefaggotry does fuck-all and will be forced to stop.

The team's press releases don't mean shit. The cut scenes aren't scary. It's exploring the decaying world that is scary. The most iconic parts of a movie happen in a movie as well, it doesn't change the fact that the iconic parts aren't the scary parts.

Just because you're a beta who likes cunts doesn't mean I'm wrong. Now take your fanboy bullshit and your 5 image replies and go fuck a lawn mower blade.

I guess the interviews and documentaries don't either? Even if we were talking about the press releases, it's the people who made the game explaining why they made the game the way it is, saying it's unimportant is a non-argument.

But you can't explore or interact with a movie, so surely all films can't be scary either, right?

Maybe you just don't know a whole lot about the series and think your opinion holds more weight than it actually does?

not much of a retort that are you really trying define subjective feelings towards aspect of the series?

heather is only a cunt to the people who have been stalking her and her father for a very long time or people she assumes are like Vincent

Can you blame her? She's a teenager who's been running away from the cult all her life, had no idea what was even going on, and then she gets pulled into the fucking nightmare COMPLETELY out of the blue. All the other characters had some time to realize that something was up and had ulterior motives.

Harry wanted to find his daughter and realized shit was weird when he went into town. He could've tried to leave but decided to go on for the sake of his daughter.

James wanted to find his dead wife and was already clinically depressed, he said very clearly that he didn't care if it was dangerous or not.

Henry had several days trapped in his room and didn't really get hungry or need to use the toilet. When he started going through the hole, he did it hopeful that it would give him freedom, plus he's pretty stoic all the time.

Heather goes to the mall, she gets followed by Douglas, gets out through the bathroom window and BAM! Pulled into the nightmare, then she comes home, says hi to daddy and finds him dead. Killed by the person that pulled her into the nightmare so she could have a hellish baby.. Nigga, any normal person would be a bitch by then.

Yeah, because you're going to be all smiles to a private eye who barges into your life while you're on the run from a cult (a guy she warms up to later by the way), a crazy cunt and a sarcastic asshole.

Guess I just just found a way to mass murder people because the marketing told me so. Couldn't possibly me that the people making the game might not succeed in their goals

Heather doesn't meet any one but those people and she's a cunt to all of them. Remember the bit where she pulls a knife on Douglas after he tried to help her? Totally his fault, shouldn't of tried to help her. Don't blame the womyn for being a cunt in a very tense and dangerous situation.

It's interesting to note that the English version of Project Zero 2 on the Wii removes even more details about this plot point, when compared to the PS2 version.

...

You are fucking retarded.

Honestly I find it irrelevant and unimportant and as remarkable as having "user" instead of "anonymous"… But I don't blame you for being bothered and apologize dear.

I completely disagree. Cutscenes are there to make the player lose control over the game and that can oftentimes be super scary because you know you're not getting to do shit with a shotgun this time. You know until you regain control you're pretty much deep in it.
It's not terrorizing like gameplay I agree, but it's definitely part of "engaging" the player too. Cutscenes aren't supposed to make the game stop.

I pointed out the extras on the DVD which covers all those things.

a) You've turned on to talking about films instead of games, which don't have the same kind of postmortem material
b) The thing you said about "extras on the DVD" is retarded in the first place because you will never, ever hear that kind of promotional phrase on the extras of a DVD. Why the fuck would they still be trying to convince you to watch a movie if you already own the DVD?

I don't even know how to respond to something this stupid or why you can't understand the concept of extra content being on a DVD could also apply to games.

Must be hard being a newfag who's never experienced a game outside of downloading it.

namefags fucking leave

I don't even know how to respond to something this stupid or why you would ever think that analogizing extra content on a DVD to games instead of just talking about extra content relevant to games would be a convincing argument.

Must be hard replacing your keyboard every other day after the last one shorts out from the drool constantly spilling from your retard mouth, thanks for coming here to specifically take a shit on a perfectly civil thread.

I agree I use this shit too much, sadly it's kind of part of my original language's idioms it feels… apologies user.

Stop shitting up the thread with your movie games. We're trying to discuss horror not your Lets play addiction.

You're trying to discuss shit, and all of your posts have been about these "movie games".

dont reply to this faggot seriously

That is not the case. What having a name does is prevent you from entering any discussion with a clean slate.

I've seen you say some incredibly obnoxious and retarded things in other threads before now. So now whenever I see you make a post I'm just just going to think "oh, it's that faggot". Do you really think it's of any benefit to you at all that people will think that when they see posts you make?

the worst scary stories are the ones that are real.

What if everyone goes by his name? What will he do then?

you did it wrong, dont reply to them or if you do only say "kill yourself retard"

You actually have a social advantage when no one knows your identity and you're treated better.

For example, most of us know you're a pedophile faggot who flirts with 11 year olds on fucking skype so no one will take you seriously no matter what you have to say, but if you act anonymous and your ideas are good, you will be regarded well.

Being user on here allows everyone to learn more about how to argue then being named. The name option is only for when devs or people outside the board want to ask a question as a representative, like a developer or something.

Sins pile up, and you have no excuse to use a name here outside of vanity, and no one will see you as the special little snowflake you aren't because everyone knows your sins and won't talk to you.

The fact that you can start with a clean slate is your biggest advantage, so use it or leave.

So I am saving up store credit for a $200 copy of Rule of Rose at a used bookstore near me.

I'm gonna get that motherfucker if it's the last thing I do.

I can't find a single video showing a bit of the gameplay of nanashi no geemu without commentary. And I'd rather avoid having to deal with someone reading over every single line and laughing and reacting. Does it exist or will I have to play the game blind ?

Rule of Rose for $200?

Fuck's sake. the PS2 is pirateable.

Can't blame him, owning a game is the best feeling. Physical is always the way to go.

But still… shit, that's some disposable outcome.

Is the game also used?

The key to SH4, and the reason why it wasn't popular back when it came out compared to other SH games (aside certain design decisions especially regarding really annoying ghost enemies) is that the central theme of the game is being a hikki.

And i mean an actual hikki, i'm talking you didn't leave your room for something like 5+ years aside getting your autism bucks and buying shitty ready made food.

After a long amount of time in complete isolation your mind starts essentially going psychotic and you start seeing shit, you become paranoid and think everyone else in the building is watching you/wants to murder you/wants to steal shit from you.
The world outside becaumse this scary, alien place full of things you don't understand anymore.
Your longing for human contant mixed with your loathing for humanity pushes you to peep on any random girl you can watch from your room and/or various webcams.

Essentially you can see SH4 became a SH title much later on in development and it's main focus was trying to make a horror about shot-ins, about what they feel after extended periods of isolation.
This comes up again and again in the plot, even with Walter himself growing up in the prison cult school, confined in one room like the other kids.

To this day i think SH4 shouldn't have been a SH game because being a SH game brings the dame down instead of enriching it.
It should've been it's own thing, perhaps the SH-like combat wasn't even necessary in it, maybe it would've worked even just simply as a sort of exploration/adventure game of sorts.

Pre production the title wasn't SH, before they started production it was decided to be one. It wasn't a late switch, it was before any models or code was written.

I like this idea

Ofcourse, I am the greatest because it is me after all. Those anonymous don't stand a chance.

anyone have a torrent link to the new subnautica build with dangerous creatures?

I want to have some spooky underwater fun.

Are you going to buy it or something? It's only a few MBs, download it and play.
