I have been back and forth for a longtime with fucking Steam, and yeah, it isn't just some fucking meme. There is no fucking reason to use this shit ever.
What new fucking games? there is nothing but shit that has been coming out for a long time.
Too play what? fucking dota 2 and csgo? games so fucking bad and infected with fucking morons?
Who the fuck would want to interact with fucking steamdrones who think DLC is good, early access is good, giving money to a shitty company that doesn't give a flying fuck about video games.
Fuck that, if you want to support good developers go fucking find them through other means and give them money directly through community building.
No, it is fucking disgusting, I am done with this shit.

I dont even know why I wrote this.
FUCK IT

Sometimes I wonder if people here actually look out for good video games rather than sticking to the most popular crap as if this was Reddit.

That list is a joke right?

...

outside of extremely niche scenes pc hasn't been getting any games worth playing.

what?

Is the situation any better on consoles?

Nor has fucking consoles either, that is the super fucking sad part. I am just going back to my backlog for now. I will keep my eye on DeathEYE, Bannerlord and some select others.

Would you quit posting this shite? It's worse than the "fuck off" image that other user keeps trying to force, or the fox and the grapes.

Just look at the stuff in the 8/10 section. Most of those games aren't good, they just have such a niche audience that there's no one on Holla Forums who cares enough to specifically shit-talk them.

???

What's wrong with it? I can't improve it unless you tell me how.

If they're that niche, have you even played any of them, or do you just assume they might not be that good because you think I have a bias for niche games? (Because I very well might)

hivemind mentality must be a very easy way of life.

I live perfectly fine without steam. I uninstalled it over a year ago and have not missed it since.

Ah reminds me. Tangent.

I wanted to commit murder then and there. Still no Half-life 3.

Anyway there are still some niché games that you can pirate. Don't give up hope!

Handhelds are where the majority of games worth playing have been this generation and it's the Wii U that has the most interesting looking games, and even then if you've got one only four or five are really must-haves considering that several Wii U exclusives have been ported to 3DS or even ported with additional content and made the primary version from here out like with Hyrule Warriors. 3DS version gets new maps along with everything else, Wii U version just gets the costumes and characters now since they're balancing new content around 3DS's switch-heroes feature and lower level limit.

fuck off you retard
more like a 3/10

Pac-Man champ 2 seems to be a gameplay downgrade from its predecessor, and has little else to offer. Seum is a speedrunning game that appears to completely lack speedtech, which is like making a sandwich with just bread. But I don't care enough to find a torrent for this shit and back my logical conclusions up with first-hand facts, and no one else does either. It's like Quadrilateral Cowboy, no one's gonna take the time to shit-talk it because the only people that have any real knowledge of the game's existence are massive fucking nerds who love the thing.

.

I would tell you some pretty good games that came out recently, but you would just scream that they are shit no matter what I say, so I don't see the point?
Terraria? Left 4 Dead? Civ5? Every fucking fighting game on there?
That's why I only play with people I know IRL, because I'm not retarded. If you don't have people to play with it's your fault.
See you next week.

who *already* love the thing

That reminds me, I've been meaning to get a Vita for quite some time now.

What's wrong with Devil Daggers?

go walk the plank you fucking fag

yeah nice meme

Cool goal post bro.
Why the fuck are you even here?
Kill yourself

I am not giving up, I am just not using Steam anymore.

Yeah, I actually had my account deleted almost a year ago and I have no fucking clue why after all that time I came back and made a new one.

You can get a PS TV or whatever they were called and play most any Vita game worth playing that way, no idea if you can pirate on them like you can with the actual console itself now but you're paying far more for a Vita and the proprietary memory sticks.

you can pirate them with vitamin but you still need the shitty memory sticks

and if you live not in the US, pstvs are rarer than gold

Maybe I'll shill Quadriliteral Cowboy with a magnet link to see if people will like it, it's not like anyone here has anything better to play

Is there anything inherently wrong with 70's arcade games and Devil Daggers, or do you just think it costs too much?

it also lacks actual content and replay value in my opinion. unlike good shooters, they have actual levels that you can run through and have actual fun, but that's too hard for these indie shitters, so they decided to play some shitty arcade games near their ass and decided to put an empty arena with a bunch of enemies that spawn from the horizon and across the field, because bothering to have corridors and moving platforms is too extreme for these hack frauds

what's wrong with that woman's feet?!

but that's wrong you filthy fucking nigger

You dd not just put Firewatch on the same level as No Mans Sky…

Neither of them are games. They really should not be on this list at all.

Again, is there anything inherently wrong with arena shooters? Is there anything wrong with the gameplay, the sound, the enemies, the visuals?
Devil Daggers may not have actual levels, but it is properly designed around arena combat, with enemies, visuals, sound and movement all accustomed to suit said arena combat. For example, the sound design is designed in such a way where you can gauge where what kind of enemy is around you, and how many of them. Visually all enemies are distinct through colors and shape, while still fitting within the atmosphere. Given the nature of arena shooters, situational awareness is incredibly important, and I'd say Devil Daggers nails that with through both visuals and sound. The movement has a rather high skill ceiling which may not be apparent at first, but keeping the crowd under control by not just haphazardly circlestrafing and prioritizing targets is key to survival. While I will admit that different arenas and actual levels would be cool, what we got is at its core much better thought-out than many games released this year. There's quite a lot to Devil Daggers if you actually give it the chance and are not just pointlessly averse to arcade games because their design philosophy contradicts all the games you've been playing over the years. The replay value comes from playing for score, a notion long forgotten in this year, but not an objective design flaw if you ask me.

How so? Tell me why, people. I can't do anything with 'it's shit'.

You're right, Firewatch is at least better for not damaging my PC.

No, I mean Dead Rising is the best AAA game this year and it's from 2006.
It's still a 9/10, even after all this time.

No man's sky is a game, its a shitty game but still a game. Just because its awful doesn't make it not a game

are you fucking kidding me
HEARD OF STEREO SOUND?
This is so fucking basic don't even bother breathing, you're complimenting the most basic levels of sound design, you have to be fucking retarded

Get your head checked.

Here you go, that's all you need to make it "some fucking meme".

What cracks me up is how many gamers love Steam.

It's just a fucking store that wants your money. No different than Amazon or the Windows Store.

Unless you pirate it is literally impossible not to use Steam and I hate it.

It's not how, but what gets played. In DD the sounds are designed in such a way that you can easily tell apart one from another even if they're overlapping, on top of general enemy intensity and position. Sound design is strangely underutilized nowadays, most games just slap some loud shit together only because it sounds cool. Especially nuDoom is a clusterfuck of noise.

DD has no music at all. Have you even played the game?

It's not even a good storefront from a usability perspective. I assume people who "love" steam actually mean the sales, the market gambling, and the people on their friends list.

it is used for online play

that's about it

...

PC release. Same with Shinovi Versus.

Which is why you used the 3DS cover?
Either way throwing ports of games that have been out for years is retarded. Also giving Revolution 60 a 1/10 is still too good for that trash.

Learn to check IDs, nigger.

Yeah that's the problem isn't it?

Someone could easily make a better Steam but nobody would use it because

Steam owns you like a darkie.

The only games I enjoyed searching steam was Mount and Blade, Rabi Ribi, and some Avadon game, two of which was already recommended by someone else.

The queue sucks, but once every 50 titles you actually manage to find lesser known games that are actually good.

Also
Why do you niggers care so much to have to announce what you use and what you don't? It's just a fucking platform, nobody gives a shit if you like it or not. People will keep using it or not using it no matter of what you say

Jesus Christ we have this same fucking thread every day, are you still not tired of it? If it's so unimportant for you, then why not stop using it without being a little bitch about it? It's like sharing you Xbox achievements on Facebook hoping that someone will notice them and tell you "wow good job", except here you're actively looking for praise from anonymous users on a Vietnamese child pornography and videogames forum.

Fucking good job. I mean that.

I've hated it since I had to use it to run HL1/Sven Coop way back when after they nuked the WON system. They tried to tickle my balls with those amaaaaazing sales at times but now I'd rather just fucking pirate something than end up in their system.

for a website about fixing games its actually the best news feed to find new games on the horizon

There's your fucking problem right there, spelled out in your own gibbering potato shit.

What if you want to seach for games already out that you might've missed?

Are you for real? Are you lost? There are plenty ways like perusing other storefront sites and the like.

Alright user

You have extreme comprehension issues. If you can't put it together you're the problem.

You shouldn't have, bud. Thread is pointless when its topic has already been talked to death for long.

I'm the problem because I'm tired of seeing the same thread every fucking day?
I think you might actually be retarded

Like GOG? Or other reseller websites that have a smaller library than Steam or have a lesser search system?

you can try acquiring tastes and a bit of searching, alternatively I heard of this anime-related imageboard that also has a subfourm, which they call it "boards" that are dedicated to videogames, maybe you should try asking the users there.

I need Steam to run the games I bought, right?

I view Steam as but one avenue to acquire vidya. Besides turns out you can't trust any digital distributor, since even GOG started to push fucking telemetry with their vidya, see also galaxy.dll.
Also too much of my weebshit is steam exclusive.

You could crack them once they are downloaded.

because you want a place to fit in. keep looking

Elaborate.
please

90% of "cracks" nowadays are just Steamworks emulators. Heck, SmartSteamEmu allows you to host pirated multiplayer for Steamworks games.
Meaning the only reason you'd buy a game on Steam nowadays is to throw a couple bucks the dev's way or if it's multiplayer doesn't work on SSE.

You're clearly the problem if you can't sort out his schizophrenic babbling

gamecopyworld.eu/

Valve started the platform by using their Half Life fans as the basis, then proceeded to completely ignore them after 2007. Honestly, it could've been a HL dedicated platform rather than everything-but-HL, but oh well.

I also haven't used Steam in months now, only Offline Mode to play games like FNV.

This fucking thread again

You niggas can Diss steam as much as you like, the facts still remain; If steam didn't exist at all then pc gaming wouldn't be nearly as popularised as it is today. Look at the past before steam, how many games were coming to pc besides what had already been already loyal/exclusive to the platform, or because they were incompatible with console play? And look now; way more ports, and most of the time with *actual effort* Put into porting them over. Without steam a lot of your favourite games I assume would never have been ported, a lot of games (aka Dragons Dogma / dark souls) would never have been released on pc because it's a fucking *niche market* by itself, and there wouldn't be nearly as much indie games because there would be no market for them. And all throughout the years before steam, the library was very limited in comparison to ps and xbox, and you *know * this to be true if you've witnessed the changes to pc gaming from the late 90s to now.

Steam/Valve helped put pc gaming up there with the consoles for mainstream gaming, no longer a niche market for your dad or people who have a family computer; games were designed specifically with PCs in mind before, but now; devs and publishers literally would have to ask themselves why they would not want to publish their software on one of the biggest and most successful platforms available, and sometimes even at amazingly low prices, just for you!

Current and past topics aside because, let's face it; a lot of controversy surrounds Valve/steams business model, it's past and present practices, and rightfully so for both Valve helped put pc gaming on the map, and gave literally anyone the platform they required to publish their title if that's what the community wanted.

Whether you bitch about this platform in this manner or not will not effect steam in anyway, and you're fucking blind/lying if you think nothing good ever came from the existence of steam.

in b4 Valve/steam shill, in b4 gabe newell, in b4 cuck, kike, jew, nigger, retard, coon, spic, dick, autism, fuck, cunt, asshole and the rest of it. In b4 reddit/back to reddit memes because of my fucking paragraphs and sentencing. In b4 anything else that doesn't acknowledge my argument or at least try to address it. In b4 >buying games, in b4 yohoho and all that shit. In b4 wew lad, in b4 >expecting me to read all that shit.Thank you :^)

Welcome to freedom.

Popularization leads to casualization, which has now gone so far that games have become the next Bubble, where no IP is safe from milking, low-effort re-releases, 'remakes' and the like.

Once they're done, we won't have a single (western) IP unmolested or even unruined. So much for your popularity.

But he's also right in that the popularization resulted in the advancement of mustard race as a console alternative through ports and such that wouldn't have happened at all without that popularization. This isn't a black and white issue that can just be summed up as great or shit.

Well, console alternative and as its own general platform, I should've typed.

Maybe you're right but I would've liked to see the financial hyenas of Wall Street and the like stay far far away from my gaming hobby.

Computers have been a alternative to consoles and its own general platform, before the fucking Super Nintendo was a thing.

Computer gaming was popular the moment more Computers had Doom installed, than Windows.

And generally ports are shit. Instead of having Games ported to every platform and play like piss, I want Games that are allowed to specialize into something.

is talking bullshit

No it isn't you fucking asshole. It's DRM just like Denuvo.

Just try to legally purchase and play a PC videogame in 2016 without Steam.

Inbefore GOG: I predict they'll be DRM in 5 years.

Games as a service. Bah.

...

This.
If you buy a physical copy of a PC game, you still have to install Steam and download 10GB of day1 patches after waiting on the slow disc installer just like consoles.

Funny how PC gaming now looks so much just like Xbox Live or PSN.

At least cracking Steam games is easy. For now.

I didn't hate it, but it's not a game.

This is why playing PS2 and PC hentai games is superior. No worries, just stick your dick in and play.

I like how you had to make that distinction, as if the same isn't happening to jap crap

It's because Consoles today are now just PC's with proprietary OS's.

...

dont you love capitalism, goy?

Code Princess have to be most lazy PC port along with Azure Striker Gunvolt. 3/10, the game itself isn't that good to begging with, but playing on 3DS is way better, specially with an overcloacked N3DS.

only problem rly w/ devil daggers iz it could benefit from sum otha modes or sumn to break it up cuz otha wise is a bit repetitive after 10+ hours if you strugglan monica

Depressing story from an amateur game dev:
I've been working on a silly little 2d platformer for awhile, and had a playable build at a local anime con. One guy asked when it was going to be on Steam.

I told him never - if you bought the game, you would actually OWN it and would not be forced to install spyware on your computer.

His reaction was "oh, that's too bad."

I asked him why on earth he would PREFER a game to be locked like that, and he said he wanted his friends to be able to see his achievements.

There are actually people who think this way.

...

Every day gaming gets worse and a little piece of me dies inside.

its basically wal-mart but for videogames. constant deals that further cement its monopoly which also prevents anyone else from offering the same because they aren't large enough to be able to cut that sort of discount to people.

Yeah but I can actually buy a loaf of bread at a non Walmart store and eat it.

You cannot play a PC game without installing Steam.

Steam is not just a store. It is a walled garden.

What I do is the following
it's not that hard

Source?

The only depressing thing here is his story.

Don't you have some corporate cock to suck, my friend?

Okay sure:

Wal-Mart just lowered its prices on over 1,000 items, as part of a move to help people save money so they can live better. We've even outsourced our janitorial staff and cut overnights down to 4 people at my store, and heck, we're even considering removing Department Managers all together. Can't wait for those hot savings to be passed onto everyone!

Do you really want console peasants in your play area?

You can't play Steam games on PC without installing Steam. If you have random discs from older games, you can probably install them, without having to leave your comfort zone, interact with strangers, and have fun. #stopthedisinfo

Gaming needs to die out

...

Sharing isn't a bad thing. All that shit being locked to Steam is.

That's not what he said, though. Also, you totally can play Steam games on PC without installing Steam. It's called not being a good goy.

bruh we already know steam is gay

Or

Piracy is not buying a game

Wow, user, I didn't know that.

And Steam is just renting a game license, you don't own it.

Wew lad.

Why would I want this? Steam became nothing more than another facebook clone

Purchasing a SNES cartridge is also just renting a game license, you don't own it either.

So why spend money on games at all?

Because the government tells you you're supposed to?

Are you voting for Hillary?

Third party.

...

I don't.

I don't mind people challenging Valve's monopoly, but don't be a hypocrite while doing it.
steam.wikia.com/wiki/List_of_DRM-free_games

I wonder who could be behind this post…?

And I wonder who could be behind yours.

Me. I am behind my posts. What a stupid question to ask.

You know who.

This retarded fucking meme needs to die. It doesn't matter what holds up in court, it matters that I have this thing that works 20 years later no problem because I fucking bought it and I own the physical piece of data. There's no legal binding contract on the Genesis games I buy, and if there was it wouldn't metter anyway because since it's physical I can pretty much do whatever the fuck I want with it as long as I have it, and they can't take it away. That's why people care about this shit.

Next you're going to say is I just buy the license to drink the Sprite that I get from my grocery store. Am I going to be licensed the spinach that gets put in my sandwiches next? Kill yourself.

No fuck you. You can't pick and choose which laws to obey especially when its the SAME LAW for the SAME PRODUCT. You just got butthurt for reason just because its digital instead of physical. You have the same rights and protections in both cases, including a prohibition on reverse engineering the product and public exhibition.

Food isn't intellectual property dumbass. Completely different laws apply and even so, you cabt copyright a recipe

And this is where I'd conclude my post off with a cool finisher and smug anime face

Are you legitimately autistic? Yes you can. People pick and choose which laws to obey all the time.

You don't have to follow shitty laws. DRM makes you follow shitty laws by force. I'm gonna draft a new bill that requires you to shove a dildo in your ass every day after eating lunch. Be glad I won't make a law that requires the government to send a strong black man with a security uniform to your house every day to shove a dildo in your ass at noon.
By even using the term "intellectual property" you have proven that you have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. That term needs to die.

gnu.org/philosophy/not-ipr.en.html

What? If you are going that route, (((stein))) is a jew and johnson doesn't care about hillary's emails and gets butthurt whem you say illegals.

you have to go deeper, user

In what way? Only route I think of is looking at the fact Bill Clinton won because a third party took enough votes to ensure the competition didn't win.

...

...

Are you being deliberately obtuse?

How many of the games that came out in the last 5 years DON'T REQUIRE STEAM.

Look IDGAF I pirate my shit. But don't tell me Valve hasn't taken over this industry Standard Oil style.

Look on GOG

Sounds like Facebook.

But I guess that's what gaming has become.

Okay so only what 80 percent of PC games requires Steam? And I'm being generous.

Why don't you figure it out yourself? Oh right you're too busy being a little bitch to look.

Convenience.
I press "Install" and bam I'm playing the game.
No fucking way I'm returning to torrents and isos and archives and all that shit, I don't have time to fuck around that anymore.

If you're pirating on principle, or have more free time than money it's fine, it's the same shit in the end. Only complete retards think that they are paying for games, rather than service.

90% of the games in that pic fall under the "dev had interesting ideas but failed to follow through on necessary complexity" category, which means they're all 100% shit.
the other 10% are old games that are good, but they're old and have already been played so they're honorary shit.

HAVE SOME FUCKING STANDARDS

speaking of dota 2, anyone happens to have that old penny arcade video where they basically promoted that mute system that dota has right now?

I remember when it got made back then people thought it would be a good idea.

it's at least an 8

It really is sad that the average faggot thinks that a facebook clone storefront run by jews is what represents "Pc Gaming". Good for you dude, now go play some video games.

I'll stop being a little bitch when people admit that Valve succeeded where Microsoft failed.

Now that I think about wasnt Gabe Newell a Microsoft employee?

I have no problem with the Steam store. It's just a shitty store like hundreds of others.

It is the client that I'm forced to run that annoys me.

Cry more please, I will bottle your tears and sell them.

Well, they DID. Doesn't entitle them for anything, and shit changes. Now both Valve and Microsoft are shit.
No they don't specially if you pirate them. Also, why it's do you want to support monopolies so much? Are you being paid?

I got rid of steam. If you're buying games on Steam, you're being taken for a ride. None of the games you can own, it's just a license you've paid for the use of them, which can be revoked if they ban you in which case all the money spent is for nothing. You can never sue them, they've tailored the user agreement over the years to make their userbase powerless, non-owning and non-offensive, then they milk everyone with dlc. Plus Gabe wants to be able to spy on you and would love a big Stanley Parable-esque monitor complex so he can panopticon all the gamers and imagine himself as the game god; sucking everyone's mental energies Dark Crystal style… probably.
