Is this alpha centurai user? I haven't played that game since I was 12 so please forgive my apprehension.

Right: Morgan
Wrong: Yang

Morgan was too extreme too. Denying future generations non-renewable resources only because they can't protest the plunder is not right. At least he gets fucked the hardest by mindworms.

How cute. Do you want to get a tip, or the whole deal? Do you even know the inspiration for the faction you defend? It's based on the Friendlies from Gordon Dickson's "Childe" universe.

Be fair, she ought to wear the hair net.

user you know the only thing he's defending is his feelings.

When you're on a planet that does infact hate you and want you dead, it's retarded to be queazy about recycling people or suppressing idiots by force. Trying to be goody two shoes just gets you eaten alive, literally.

Yang utilized "human wave" tactics where possible. He was the most retarded of the lot.

please refrain yourself from posting porn of christchan in the future. thank you

Don't post her outside /christian/ and your feelings won't be hurt. Not promising anything otherwise.

So who is your picks? I agree with the Morgan criticism but the OP said most right, not all right. Who does better than him overall to you?

the worms

There are two separate issues, who was the least wrong and who was the most right. Even if I like playing Zakharov the most, I don't think that his stance on genejacks for instance was right.

Go on, amuse me more.

...

Simple.

this

Agree, but with Deirdre instead of Morgan.

This.

Eh, she shared the common flaw they all have. Couldn't stand anyone going against her beliefs to the point of declaring war on anyone holding antagonistic ones. It's stupid - if they are truly wrong, that would bite them on the ass anyway, so why interfere?

Holla Forumsacks here would also call the degeneracy card on her.

I know Crossfire is a touchy subject but I would like to hear your thoughts on the factions introduced in it. No one talks about them much.

Well, if you're really serious about preservation of ecology, and you have an army to enforce it, why not use it? Just because she loves nature doesn't mean she's a peace-loving, "live and let live"-type tolerant hippie. I'd say it's quite the opposite, in fact. She clearly has a vision of the future for mankind, which is the very basis of the faction's ideology, and if you go directly against her idea of that future, I think it's only natural she'll think of you as her enemy. Same with all the other factions.

Could you be any more of a fucking edgelord?

Holla Forums is always right.

Bite me.

What is there to talk about? They are all more or less OP and also have shaky background - you wouldn't expect to have them right from the moment of Planetfall, but rather make them appear only when a vanilla faction vacates the slot, for one. But no, that would be too sensible. And Data Angels are rather dumb as a faction. Can't expect many people to be script kiddies all their lives.

Aliens and cyborgs are the most interesting as an idea. I dislike the resonance "technologies" though. They all read like a cheap cop-out, as a flavor of magic rather than a hard science fiction subject.

Spartans.
It's a hostile alien world with fucking mind worms. Nobody has time for philosophy. Be strong first.

Is there a canon resolution to the game or something?

all you had to do was to plant some fucking trees.

Fuck off, libtard.
>>>Holla Forums

Kill yourself

No, but Free Market economy that he usually runs all the time gives severe penalties when fighting mindworms.

Tree hugging is right when it's literally the simplest way to get the aliens off your ass.

how about actually playing the game?

Quads demand you kill yourself

These quads are also followed by dubs so you better kill your dog too.

He's right.

he is just a monkey whit a proxy, also, it's innaccurate that forests counters ecological damage since it's stated that Earth plant life competes whit the Planet native life (but their mineral output is accurate since Planet has a lack of fosil fuels so i guess colonists must use plant based fuels and lubricants)

These retards might not see through your deception but He does.

I never actually tried this game before, how easy is it to get into if someone isn't well versed in 4X games?
On that note what is a good starting faction?

Holy shit were those guys overpowered.

Gaians were fucked up

Weaponizing brain worms yo

The hardest thing to get into is the REALLY dated graphics. Otherwise it's basically the single best 4x game ever made, bar none.

That kind of stuff just doesn't happen in other 4X games. It's "too hard" to code diplomacy AI that does anything except stab you in the back.

The purple-green-rusty color palette doesn't help either.

Human Hive is good for playing defensively, aka turtling. You would have energy shortages all the time but in turn no penalties for expansion and free perimeter defense in each base.

...

The scariest thing about the Pirates is when you play as them on a high water map and realize you can surround a small continent with bases and trap the AI on a rock while they're still researching Rovers. Starting with Foils is OP as fuck.

Alien Crossfire was a mistake.
That said I love the flavour of every expansion faction other than the Cult and the Aliens. It's a shame they all have a way of being insanely unbalanced (except for the Cult, they suck ass).

It's pretty easy, just don't expect to grasp the nuance of optimizing bases right away. This is fine because the AI is terrible at it too, and only gets around it by having handicaps on higher levels.

If you want to have bases outproduce the AI with little effort just spam Supply Crawlers, preferably after focusing on it tech-wise. The AI doesn't use crawlers. This is a mistake because a crawler is like another worker that doesn't count towards the population limit, can work tiles beyond the range of the base, and doesn't need to be fed, the "downside" is they only produce one type of resource at a time.

The graphics really aren't that bad. They're fairly detailed, if low resolution.

Gaians were my first win. University is also easy if you take care to get the Hunter Killer Algorithm wonder (they have a penalty to defense vs spying, HKA grants inmunity to spying)

You guys are talking about Alpha Centauri right?

What about the expansion factions?

Come to think of it, Deirdre sounds like the "traitor to the aliens" sort of villain.

Well fuck me.

both suck at the end, Spartans always wage wars that cannot win and Morgans cannot build more than 3 colonies before get their territories surrounded by the other factions.

Thinker+ Spartan can hold their ground if they survive until cruise missiles. And PC Spartan can knock out a faction or two faster then you can say rover rush.
And agreed, AI Morgan is shit no question how you present him.

Forgot to add, for a starting faction Gaians are a great choice.
No matter which faction you choose though, for your first few games choose to only use the original faction set. Most of the expansion factions are imbalanced.

One thing to note is some factions are more or less powerful depending on the rules you select. The tech stealing on base capture (I think it's called Spoils of War) makes strong military factions like Spartans, Believers, or Pirates far more powerful. I leave it off most of the time. The Cybernetic Consciousness has it as a faction ability, so turning it on with them in the game will negate one of their advantages.

I also always play with Blind Research off.
