Turn based strategy games

I played these games because I was told that they were turn based strategy games that required strategy only to find they weren't. tactics was just a basic casual jrpg and disgaea was a grind fest(i dropped it cause of how much i hate grinding).
Are there any turn based games out there that are more like what I'm looking for?
I know there's online magic the gathering but I hate the idea of having a good or bad hand dependent on luck which is why I don't want to mess with card games. something like a tactics game or chrono trigger is more my style.

Lack of gitgud

I mean there wasn't much too it. either you out damaged the guy or there was a glaring and I mean GLARING weakness to them, like a bad geoblock. other then that it was go to the item world (which isn't that bad of an idea, I just wish item world was in a better game).
but to summarize, disgaea isn't smart. and if you think it is and have evidence then show me.

but I haven't giving up though. still looking at more.
gonna try some of the gba fire emblems, lost magic, and the suikoden series. but they look pretty basic

I wish more TBS games were like FFT and implemented charge-time for their units. I've been so spoiled by it I find it incredibly hard not to go back to it after playing another game. It just makes playing so much more faster and fun.

ya know I forgot I had pillars of eternity which i was having a blast with until the game froze on me and I lost my progress when it came out. It's been long enough where I'm not really affected by it anymore. maybe i should check out wasteland 2 as well.

Try Wild Arms XF.

Xf is good, it's a little railroady but stays interesting, free class change is always fun
Also try tactics ogre: l.u.c.t

Tactics Ogre for the PSP is one of the greatest games I've ever played. It's even more impressive whenever it hits me that it's a Super Famicom game given a remake, and that nearly all of the incredible systems in it were there from the start.

Dawn of heros
Bleach: The 3rd Phantom
Advance wars

Try Der Langrisser, OP. It should scratch that itch pretty well.

Try Rondo of Sword if you want something more unique with no grinding involved. Its sister game, Yggdra Union is also good.

An otherwise good game marred by the horrible leveling system and bullshit escort missions.

Are there any starcrafty/red alerty games that don't require resource farming? like all the combat and micro managing, but you don't have to watch out for scv's or ore trucks?

The Ogre Battle games are like that but with turn based combat whenever units engage each other. There's no base building or upgrading within battles though but you have to manage fatigue and send out the right kinds of troops to capture different towns.

There's Hundred Swords, but it's honestly not very deep. Came out for the Dreamcast and PC, then was promptly forgotten.

I've barely played FFT, I couldn't get into it but I loved FFTA and FFTA2, I love how these don't take themselves as seriously and are more "arcadey".

Come on now

what game?

and is the sig 552c in it?

how do you get ja2 to run on windows 7

It runs fine

gog

gog what

Has anyone played Voidspire Tactics?
Also has anyone played Mercenaries Saga 2 for 3DS?

I dunno, I'm beginning to think turn based, tile map/ face to face games just don't allow deep gameplay when unit placement is so constrained. i wish there was a game where you control 6 super units against another players 6 units and they all have unique attacks and there's cover options

like super duper micro basically. imagine pillars of eternity pvp

...

Listen to the dubs, OP

You suck.
Every move is calculated and designed to maximize gains per turn from your limited resources while trying to minimize the impact of luck. Your deck and pathway to winning needs to be consistent. You can win by "sheer luck" if you draw the card you need when you need it by setting up.

tldr youre a bitch and need to gitgud
