Hoping this won't come off as a plug, because I think y'all will find this interesting, and that you would appreciate it coming right from a dev.
We made a game poking fun at #BlackLivesMatter and activists in general (I don't think I need to explain that kind of stuff to you guys), but it recently got banned from Google Play and then even pulled by Itch.io, both for "hate speech" even though all the speech in the game is from BLM activists themselves.
I wrote the whole story and some insight on Medium. If youre a dev, or you're just concerned about censorship (and more), do me a favor and take a look? -
The whole thing is beyond frustrating because we all know exactly what's going on, but the last thing I want to do is quietly go away like they want. This has gotta change.
I'll pop in to this thread to read and reply assuming this doesn't get deleted (lol)
It is hate speech though. #BLM is a terrorist organization by definition.

So find some other way to distribute it? They're not at fault for pulling games they disagree with, it's just the nature of the beast

Good.
Free speech only applies to private residences, not public forums or privately-owned businesses. If you go into a public place and scream "NIGGERS NEED TO HANG" then of course you're going to be arrested for hate speech. This is one of the most grossly misunderstood things, right next to the right to bear arms. Seriously, the Second Amendment was written in reference to fucking muskets.
Google Play is a private business, so they have every right to police you

There's not really much anyone can do about their decision to pull it, but I think it's something still worth covering in the media. Like you said, they banned it for hate speech, but all of that came from BLM itself; people ought to be made aware. I at least hope the article gets some good coverage.
