There are plenty of whites with farm experience needing jobs in South Africa who will be chosen first when it comes to filling simple labor jobs. Have to have something that stands you out as security material. They're not going to hire an American whose only got farm work credentials, there are plenty of locals that fit that bill.

Knowledge is power. Learn how South Africa's work visas work before you look for a job. Don't make your employer do all the work to drag you to the continent. Get a passport if you don't have one. Try and learn at least basic Afrikaans and some of the tribal languages.
